ALINA'S POV
I woke up from possibly the best sleep I've ever had to beeping.
It was loud and annoying and I really wanted it to stop.
I sighed as I opened my eyes not being able to bear the sound.
I couldn't recognise where I was.
As I looked around the room I realised that I was in the hospital.
I closed my eyes again in annoyance as i realised I'd have to talk to my family about me spilling the beans on everything.
I didn't want to have that talk, I didn't even mean to tell them!
I hoped to not see Matheo's annoying little face for a while.
I looked around the room i was in again. It was massive, I didn't think hospital rooms were this big.
I was feeling a little bit tingly and fuzzy right now and I had no clue why.
My whole family was here but they were all asleep, and I didn't really want to wake them up.
I've probably caused them enough stress for a lifetime.
I should let them sleep. They all looked peaceful right now.
The beeping was right in my ear. I looked at the machine that was making the noise and followed the wire from it to where it was connected to me.
I decided to pull it off of my skin, as it was just a sticker hoping that would stop the noise.
I winced as I pulled the sticker off. I glared at it, not realising that it would hurt.
The beeping stopped though.
I was happy, it was finally quiet.
I thought that was the end of it but then a long beep sound followed and it wasn't stopping.
I sighed in frustration and closed my eyes and laid still hoping to block out everything.
I was just starting to block the noise out when I heard a commotion in the room.
There was crying and shouting but I couldn't bring myself to open my eyes.
I was really tired.
Don't mess with me when I'm tired .
I persisted at this meditating style stuff, hoping people would get the message that I'm trying to sleep and would quiet down.
My bed was then moved. MOVED! It was moved down so it was flat.
Now that got my attention!
I opened my eyes and death stared at the person who moved my bed.
Being tired can really change someone.
The guy above my bed in doctors scrubs flinched.
He looked at me as if I just came back from the dead.
"Why'd you move my bed, dude? Could you not see I was trying to sleep?"
He looked behind him scared and just nodded.
"I'm sorry miss Giovanni, we thought we lost you. Your monitor indicated that your heart stopped beating" he said with the palest face I've ever seen.
Recognition dawned on my face.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it!" I said whilst crying.
Why was I crying?
I felt really bad, yeah but I didn't feel like crying.
I couldn't stop myself though as the tears flowed freely.
I saw my mom, and as we made eye contact she managed to push her way through the doctors that were blocking the entrance to the room.
"ALINA!" She screamed as she cradled me in her arms.
"Tell them I'm sorry, I didn't mean it!" I cried.
"Hey, it's ok. They know it was an accident and that you didn't mean it!" She reassured me as she stroked my hair with tear tracks down her face.
"Mom, I can't stop crying and I don't know why" I wailed.

MARCO'S POV
SHE GAVE US ALL A HEART ATTACK.
We had finally chilled down a little after making sure Alina was safe, and as it was becoming late we all fell asleep.
I was dreaming of punching Matheo in the face for fun when I heard a commotion.
I could hear voices and the sound of multiple feet.
I thought it was just my dream so I thought nothing of it.
The door to Alinas room was slammed open, and that made my eyes shoot open, the same for the rest of my family.
I saw doctors and nurses run into the room.
Why were they here? We explicitly told them to let Alina rest.
They all ran towards her bed, shouting about a code.
I looked towards my sister to see her as still as a stone.
Why is she not moving?
A sound finally reached my ears.
It was the sound of flatlining.
NO....NO.... She can't be dead, she was fine this morning?
We were ushered out by many doctors, we tried to fight we really did.
There were about 6 staff members trying to keep us out of the room.
Mom managed to push through, and we all followed after that.
I ran straight in, to see Alina apologising to the staff for removing the heart monitor.
I sighed in relief as I slid down the wall, sobbing.
Adrian sat next to me and cuddled into my side, crying himself.
I put my arm around him, just to let him know I was there for him.
Luca and Romeo held each other across the room.
They didn't really show much emotion most of the time but I knew they were beating themselves up the most out of everyone.
I heard Romeo crying in the corridor last night.
I dread to imagine how the rest of our family will deal with finding out this news.

ALINA'S POV
My mom continued to calm me down as I kept apologising to the doctors as they walked out after they attached the monitor back on me
I tried hiding under the covers of my bed, embarrassed about what I did, and it was only then that realised I had a cast on my foot and a brace on my shoulder.
My eyes widened as I took them in.
I didn't think they were that bad!?
I looked up to see my parents trying to get my attention.
"Alina baby, is it ok if we ask you some questions after the doctor comes to see you?" My dad asked softly.
I looked towards all of my brothers except Matheo who were in the room and hesitantly nodded at my parents
My dad went to the door and opened it.
A new doctor that I hadn't seen before came in.
"Hello, Alina. I'm Doctor Flores" the lady said as she introduced herself to me.
I just smiled in reply.
"Ok, so I'm going to give you a run down of your injuries."
"You have an ankle fracture, that will take up to 8 weeks to fully heal. You're dislocated shoulder will take up to 6 weeks"
8 weeks! But that's when my gymnastics competition is supposed to be taking place.
The coach had phoned me earlier this week asking about where I had disappeared to, genuinely worried for me.
I had explained everything to her, minus the injuries.
She wasn't happy that I left and wanted me back asap.
She told me it was going to break the mini gymnasts heart that I wasn't going to be teaching them anymore.
We had a bit of a laugh about that.
She then told me that I was still able to compete in the competition that was coming up if I wanted to.
I had agreed quickly at the offer and I was going to talk to parents about it soon.
They're never going to let me compete if I'm not healed, but I also can't let my coach down!
I stopped thinking about that as the doctor continued.
"You're fractured ribs will take up to 7 weeks to heal"
My ribs were shattered!?
"But they're not my main concern right now. Alina, you weigh 38kg at 14 years old. That is dangerously light." She said worriedly
I mean it wasn't my fault I was starved.
"So what we're going to do is send you home with a meal plan, which will include 3 meals a day and snacks in order for you to gain some weight. I'll put you on that for a week, and then I want you to come and see me again. If you haven't gained any weight from then, unfortunately I'm going to have to give you a feeding tube" she said apologetically
A feeding tube?
I don't want a feeding tube!
I mean I've been trying to eat but there's no way I'm going to be able to eat 3 meals a day plus snacks.
That's literally impossible.
I looked down, embarrassed.
The doctor took that as her cue to leave after giving the details of the meal plan to my parents.
My dad took my hand in his.
"We're going to get through this Alina, ok? We'll be by your side the entire time!" He reassured me.
"But what if I can't do it?" I whispered in a broken voice.
"Whatever needs to be done we will get for you, no matter how long it may take, as long as you are ok. That's what we care about"
"If you need a feeding tube to help you so be it. Anything to get you healthy Alina!" He told me
I just smiled sadly at him.
I really wanted to just hide away from everyone under my covers but I couldn't due to my injuries.
"Alina honey, is it ok if we can have a chat now?" My mom asked
I just nodded. I needed to get this over with sooner or later.
"What happened in that house with those sick psychos Alina?" My mom asked me.
I gulped
"Um well they would make me do all the chores in the house. I don't think they ever liked me, and they probably only fostered me to get the money each month."
I didn't really get fed. They expected me to cook for them but they would only get enough food for the 2 of them so I was left with their scraps.
I mean I did get money from my job at the diner and the gym but if I wanted a roof over my head then I needed to spend my money on rent. Any money I had left over I just saved hoping one day if I'd ever escape I'd have some cash to keep me going for a while.
Food wasn't my main priority in that house.
They used me as their personal punching bag. If ever they were angry or upset they would take it out on me.
They would find any little thing they could to justify hurting me.
They enjoyed hurting me"
I told my family refusing to make eye contact with any of them.
Dad took a deep breath before continuing.
"How did you deal with your injuries whilst in that hellish place?"
"Oh, I basically just took painkillers whenever I needed"
My whole family looked shocked.
"You survived on painkillers?" Matheo asked in a broken voice
I nodded sadly but then spun my head around so quickly I swear I got whiplash.
I stared down at my prick of a brother.
"Get out" I seethed.
He looked torn.
"Alina please. I can explain, I didn't me-"
"SHUT UP MATHEO! I don't care if you meant it or not, you hurt me, deeply. You assumed the worst about me when I've had the shittiest childhood ever.
Please get out of my sight, I'm too tired to deal with you right now"
He nodded grimly.
"If that's what you truly want"
I didn't look at him as I just nodded.
He respected my wish and did leave whilst I hid my face in the blankets.
Attempting to hide from my problems and my family's upset faces.
