3 years later...

- AZAIL -

"Hey, Mila." I looked at the grave stone.

"I brought you your favourite flowers, again. I know i've been bringing them every day. But I'll continue to do it." I smiled softly.

It's been three years.

Three whole years without her.

Three years of torture.

"Tony is bringing Rafael today. I missed him a lot. I haven't seen him in a long time." I placed the flowers next to the grave.

I've been coming here everyday. Bringing her flowers and talking to her.

I can't go on with the day without telling her what happened and spending some time here.

"I also talked with Maggie. She misses you. She'll be coming home today as well. We're having a dinner." We've been having dinner every anniversary of Mila's death.

It's been hard. So hard at the beginning. Still is.

I can't stop thinking about her. She's all i can think of.

I've been going to therapy. To try and get in peace with her being gone.

I still don't know if it's working, but I'll continue.

Sitting at the grave i told her how my day went. Told her how my job is doing.

I started with a new job. I've been working at a mechanics store. It's a respectable job that pays enough.

It's not like i need the money. It's more to get my mind of off things.

"I'll be back tomorrow. Maybe i'll by the white peonies for a change." I stood up and went to my car.

I drove to my house. Soft melodies of Fade into you played in the background.

As i stopped by the gates i saw Tony's car.

They were here.

I hurried to the door and opened it.

"Azail!" I recognised Rafael's voice. He was in the living room by the fireplace.

His hair was shorter than i remember. He had a buzzcut.

He had changed so much since i last saw him.

"Rafael." I went to him and hugged him.

"I missed you, Azail."

"I know, i missed you too." I confessed. "Do you want me to help you get to the garden?" I offered him. Since i didn't know if he could do it alone with the wheelchair.

"I'm fine Azail, i've been in this thing for nineteen years." He rolled his eyes.

Thankfully Rafael's injury was not as severe. He had Thoracic spinal cord injury, so he could at least move his arms.

With years of practice he was able to do curtain things alone. My parents are always there with him.

I wish, i could have been as well.

We went to the garden where i saw Tony talking on the phone. And eating cookies. Of course.

Maggie was yet to arrive. She said that she'll cook the food at home and bring it here.

Tony finished his call and sighed. "You know what, i'm done. I am so done with my grandma."

"What happened?" Me and Rafael asked at the same time.

"What hasn't happened? She literally flew across the country to met a boyfriend. A boyfriend. Can you believe that?" He sat on the wooden chair and ran his fingers through his hair.

"She apparently met someone online. 'A hot guy', those were here words. Like what is wrong with her." Tony's grandma was the wildest person i met. At age seventy nine she wanted to model. And now this.

"I can't, I'm literally so done. Mom better watch her, cause i can deal with it."

"This is not even the first time she's doing this."

While Tony was complaining about his family problems we heard the door bell ring. I guess Maggie arrived.

I opened the door and Maggie stood there with bunch of bags in her hands. I welcomed her and helped her with the bags.

"How have you been, Azail?" She fixed her glasses and looked at me.

I sighed. "I don't know. But it's getting better i guess."

"It will be better trust me. I miss her too much as well." She patted my arm and went outside to greet Tony and Rafael.

————-

We ate our dinner and Tony prepared some tea. His special tea as he likes to say.

After talking and drinking the tea, it was only me and Maggie left outside.

Tony took Rafael so he could show him some video games or whatever.

"No news of Armand, huh?" I asked her. The police couldn't do anything to Armand about Athena's murder since they didn't have any evidence. Samuel refused to talk to the police. Maggie's testament didn't do much. It was all a chaos.

His lawyers were too good.

He was still free but his every move was monitored by the police.

As for Dante. He flew out of the country. We couldn't find him.

I wanted revenge. I wanted to see him suffer. I did kill Aleksei, but that didn't brought Mila back. Nothing will.

After i was done with Aleksei, i stopped with this job and moved on.

I know if Mila knew what i did she would have hated me. So i stopped.

"No, nothing." Was all Maggie said.

We stayed outside for a little while.

"Please, Azail don't blame yourself." How could not blame myself? I promised her so much. And i failed her.

"She wouldn't have been able to live a peaceful life, Azail. Not with both of you on a run. Do you think Armand would have let you take her? He would have done anything in his power to bring her back." At least i could have tried.

"I don't know if i ever told, but when she was five years old, she got sick. It was her first time going out.

I took her to the store and to the park so she could play for a little while. But when we came back she got the flu and it was pretty bad.

Because she was never in contact with other people she had a higher risk of getting sick easily.

When Armand found out he went crazy. He decided that she won't leave the house. Athena wanted to leave with her no matter what. She said that she will keep her safe on her own.

But you know what happened after that." Maggie continued.

"That's why Armand had limited number of people meeting her. And that's the reason why he never let her get out of the house. He thought he was doing her a favour but she could have had a normal life if Armand was not so strict with her."

My Mila. Her dad never even though of letting her go out of the house.

"Her life would not have been peaceful, Azail. Armand would have never let that happen. So please don't blame yourself. Armand got into that mess himself. He is the one to blame."

I can't help but feel like there was a still a chance for us. We would have figured it out somehow.

"I should go now. It's getting late." Maggie stood up and left after saying goodbye to Tony and Rafael as well.

I looked at the garden where i planted peonies.

After one year of Mila's death i decided to do something for her.

And with that i bought a house that she always wanted. A house with big windows.

The living room and the kitchen were exactly as she would have wanted them to be. I also did a library in one of the rooms. I had all of her books.

I would read Pride and Prejudice over and over again. Trying to understand what she liked. What made her happy.

The house was exactly as she described to me once.

I made her dream come true. Even though she was not here I was trying. Every day.

It was hard but i had to do it for her.

For Mila.

For my Mila.

I lived.

This is the end of this book. ☹️

I'll definitely never write sad ending ever again. But as i said this was how i planned the book even before i started writing it.

I wrote this book for fun and i never thought that people would actually read it. But thanks to carrotcakeobsessed06 I continue with writing. She was the first person to read it. So thank you. And sorry for the ending.
