Are you enjoying it?
Nancy opened her eyes to find an unfamiliar ceiling. It had fancy lighting but only a few were on and overall the room had a dark ambience. She moved her head to notice an empty chair around the end of her bed. Her sore body made her whimper a little when she tried to move. She gasped trying to feel her arm and it was still there. It was wrapped and there was a chance Demon had bought her proposal.
Nancy put her elbow on the mattress and tried to get up. But the clinking sound made her look at her feet. Her left foot had a heavy metal around her right ankle. And, in no way, it was small or delicate. It was heavy as to bind a wild animal and had already left a blue bruise on her foot. Her eyes filled with water in an instant. She didn't want to be here. She didn't want to marry someone like Damon to save her life. What kind of life was it if she were to be chained? She wasn't an animal.
She blinked looking at the huge scratch on her leg that she must have gotten from somewhere. It had a yellow colour stain of some antiseptic that had gotten dried. Nancy could feel her hair dampen in sweat. Her back was in pain. Her belly had several bruises. She was still only in her homemade bra but now someone had gotten her pants out too.
She looked around to find no one. But she still remembered what she offered him and what he warned her about. She didn't want to marry a person like him. But she also didn't want to die. For a moment, she wonders if she could do it. If she could become his wife? But then recalling how he looked at her she knew he wasn't looking for a wife. Even if he marries her it is only a game for him. He wanted to see how long she could play. Nancy knew she was anything but stupid. She could play the role but knew all of the rules could be bent by the other party and it was her loss at every turn.
She tugged on the chain harder this time and someone walked into the door to have a look at her. "You are awake?" The woman asked. Her uniform informed Nancy that she was standing right outside the door. And, was part of the staff.
"Yes,"
"Do you need anything?" Nancy was indeed very thirsty. She was hungry too.
"Water," Nancy remained humble and that woman smiled. "Of course,"
The woman left and Nancy felt her leg sore. She wanted to bend her knee and draw it closer but couldn't. "Good evening, darling." Nancy jolted up and looked at Damon who was standing in the doorframe. He was in his silk robe with a glass in his hand.
"Good evening," Nancy didn't delay to answer. One step at a time. One step at a time. But be very careful. A voice in her mind advised her.
"You sleep a lot for my taste," Damon said tasting his wine and Nancy caught him looking at her long and firm leg. She was a Russian woman and was always told that she was pretty. Nancy could tell he was distracted with her attire at the moment.
"Must be some medication. I am not lazy if you are wondering." Damon wasn't expecting her to answer. And, he wonders if she will always have an answer except for the time he asks her about her brother's whereabouts.
"I thought it would be rude of me to not ask if you need something for your special day." Nancy drew her brows closer but the moment she realized he was talking about their wedding her breath hitched. Damon found colours draining from her face and smiled. "I am talking about our wedding day."
"When...when..." Damon liked how he finally got her. He walked closer to her and asked.
"Don't tell me you want to run away before the wedding?" Nancy knew she had to respond calmly but her tongue got frozen. The words were failing her.
Passing the chair that was close to her bed he was now standing at her shoulder. Nancy didn't move to have a look at him. She didn't want to look at him.
Damon placed his hand on her bare shoulder and stated. "You said you won't run away if I marry you but you didn't state about the time before our wedding. Tell me so I know to have an eye on..."
"Is the dress pretty?" Damon was cut off in the middle.
"It is," Damon replied all the while moving his hand to the back of her neck and holding her nape he moved his thumb up to her scalp.
"Then, I can't wait for it." Nancy looked up at him and offered a little smile.
"Is it only about the dress?" Damon asked,
"Of course, it is about the dress." She told him as if she was his old lover who was teasing him. Her courage snapped something in him. He didn't want her to see this strong. "Ah..." Damon had a handful of hair in his hand now. "You think you can play with me."
"You are hurting me. Ah!!!!!" Nancy whimpered holding his wrist with her one hand while her other hand had its nails dug in his fingers. She wanted him to let go.
"Is there anything else you want?"
"Damon, Please!!! Please!!!" Damon let go of his hold but still kept her face up and waited for her to open her eyes. Nancy opened her eyes to show tears sliding down her eyes. "What? I was only being playful. You didn't mind. Did you?"
There was no smile anymore. And, he liked it this way.
"Now, tell me what you were talking about. Oh, Dress? You wanted a dress."
"I think I want to lie down. Can you help me, please?" Nancy tried her best to change the vibe of the space.
"What? Are you hurt?" Damon inquired.
"No, I am sleepy. I guess it is the medication." Nancy bit her lip.
"Oh, let me help you." Damon held a pillow behind her and pushed her slowly on the bed.
"The chain,..." Nancy mentioned and he looked at her with love and tucked her under the blanket. "Oh, that can be removed whenever I am around. Remind me the next time we are together, I will remove it." Damon pressed his mouth against her temple. Her eyes remained wide open with fear. His perfume had become the source of immense fear for her. She didn't know what she had done to be here.
When he didn't budge from her face Nancy closed her eyes. Damon held her face in his hand and whispered. "I can't wait to see you walking down with me. Tomorrow is a big day."
Nancy kept her eyes closed. She didn't want to react to anything. Of course, he was scheduling the wedding on the same day as Aria and his. And, most probably was not going to change a thing. Except for his bride.
The tip of their noses were touching now. Nancy's chest fell into an abyss and never returned. She had stopped breathing.
Nancy had tried to be normal with him but it seems it can only work him up more. Did he want to see her hurt? He acted fine when she was hurt.
For a moment she felt the warmth of his mouth even though it was still not touching her. She fisted her palms and refused to open her eyes.
"Look at me." Nancy opened her eyes only to see those hawk eyes staring at her soul. "You know what you are. Don't you?" Damon gritted and Nancy shivered finding his mouth grazing hers when he talked. She bit on her lower lip before turning her face to the left. She didn't want to look at him. Damon lowered into her ear and whispered. "I will show you how a woman like you is kept. You will know better than to use your sharp mind with me." Nancy shut her eyes and gulped. Damon smiled pulling away. Nancy slowly opened her eyes and looked at the hand that he decided to hold. "The places I want your brain reflecting are in the sons you will bore me. They can make use of it. You? Not really."
Nancy remained quiet. She had learned her silence was what he wanted of her. "That made me recall our proposal that never happened. Will you marry me?"
Nancy remained quiet and this got him to turn her fingers. "Ah..."
"You speak when I ask a question I seem interested to be answered."
"Yes, I will, I promise I will, I promise..." Damon stopped putting the pressure and gritted with a hard expression.
"Oh girl, you make me the luckiest man on the earth." Damon left her hand with a jerk and Nancy held her hand to her mouth all the while curling into a ball. She was hiccupping at this point. He extended his hand to her hair but Nancy turned away giving him her shoulder.
Damon knew he hadn't broken her hand. She was only overacting. Nancy was whimpering in fear, sorrow, and pain. While Damon was quick to add while grazing her shoulder. "I love the happy tears but don't overdo yourself. Tomorrow is a big day. And, even a great night." Satisfied at her misery he left her with a smirk on his face.
If she wanted to prove she could be of some use to him. He wanted her to show it wasn't an easy task. Her small talk and happy face were the last thing he was going to let her use on him. Not today. Not ever.
