The crowd cheered but Robert only stared. They looked too fine and it was somehow amiss. He could see something was going on. The last thing he wanted was another wife of Damon with her remains scattered and tainted on the streets. He only wished this woman could be loyal. Her other shortcomings could be overlooked. But how was he to keep Damon's wife saved from him? He had killed the women he had feelings for in the past. What could be the survival rate for someone who was the sister of a boy who had eloped with his fiancé? For how long she could survive with her beauty? For how long she could bear Damon and not crave an affectionate man's touch and companionship? It was bound to happen at some point. Robert knew it was going to be a difficult task with Damon's manner and he couldn't wait to warn Damon about it. He had to. His cousin had already made a fucked up decision by marrying someone like Nancy. Aria and Ken could get caught and it was bound to get down in flames.

"What are you thinking?" Selena asked him with concern in her eyes.

"This...this is Ken's sister. The fucker who got away with Aria." Selena looked at Damon and the new bride seeing a guest's table. "What do you mean? Why would Damon marry someone you were supposed to finish? This is from your own rules. How is it not going to raise objection from people..."

"Don't worry about our rules, Selena. Damon could decide. But this is not what I am thinking. Won't it be nice that at least Damon's third marriage works? I don't know what trick that girl pulled but she doesn't know what she had gotten herself into."

"Better than getting under six feet of ground?" Selena asked.

"Yeah, for now. Only God knows what we are to witness."

"Don't look out for him. It is all going to be in vain. This woman's misfortune has brought her here. Even if she manages to not get killed she will spend her whole life making Damon believe she is someone who deserves respect. Damon is a lost case in marriages. I won't be surprised if one day I will be attending his wedding for the eighth time." This made Robert look at her.

"This is the first time you are at his wedding."

"Yes, I know."

"He is good at other things." Robert defended.

"Yea, to balance our family's deterrent." Selena pointed.

"Sometimes, that's everything a family has." Robert reminded. And, Selena looked at Robert with love before holding his hand.

"I am lucky I got someone like you."

"I wish I could give you something more. And, no I am lucky that you would choose anything that comes with me."

"You must be joking. I will stand with you no matter what. I have submitted myself to you, remember? And, you have taken good care of me."

"Such romantic air. It must have reminded you two about your time. Right?" Damon asked and both Robert and Selena looked at Nancy.

"This is my cousin, Robert. His wife, Selena. They spend their days talking about me. Or trying not to talk about me."

"Such a dilemma." Selena scoffed while Robert was quick to change.

"Won't you introduce Mrs. Nancy Anderson to us?"

"This is my wife. I don't know a lot about her. What can I say? It was love at first sight. I proposed instantly. And, you can see why?" Robert looked at Nancy with narrowed eyes. She was everything Damon doesn't prefer in general. She was a typical Russian. Tall, pale, and golden hair. She wasn't with curves more flat than curvy. Her make-up had given her lively colors but her pale hands gave her away. And, it only made Robert edgy. It was going to be Damon's shortest marriage. Robert looked at Damon with disappointment before offering. "I wish you two a happy and long-lasting marriage."

"That we can't promise. What do they say? It is all about fate." Damon replied and Selena looked at Nancy with pity. Selena could spot her distress. For Selena, she wasn't less than a porcelain doll and her heart pained for her. It was easy to be tough when she hadn't seen her. But now she couldn't help but wonder why was she to kill for something her brother had committed. And, nothing in this world should have made her Damon's wife. She was a beautiful woman who was going to be wasted on Damon. Regardless of the option of her being killed or not. "I hope we see each other more." Selena managed.

"That won't happen. I don't like you, Selena. So, my wife won't..."

"Can you please for once Damon?" Robert cut him off but Damon remained playful. "What? Oh, I should haven't said it in front of Selena."

"I have the same feelings for you. But that won't stop making us a family. Besides it's a tradition. You will have to dine with us once a month. I am bound to see her. You can't hide her."

Nancy hadn't stopped to converse with any other guest for this long. And, it was partly understood because Robert and his wife were his family. She noticed Damon to be more chatty here.

"Yes, that you can't dodge, Damon. And, it will only make us all bond. Unless you are planning to go on a honeymoon. That can be the only reason..."

"We haven't thought about our honeymoon. And, a monthly dinner, huh? What do you say about it?" Damon asked Nancy who also looked at him finding his attention on her. "Whatever you say,"

"Well,..." Damon moved his hand on her waist and replied. "...a lot can happen before a month. But we can hope for good. Can't we?" Robert and Selena both looked at each other and Selena felt disgusted at how Damon was treating Nancy. But knowing she couldn't do much she excused herself. "I am sorry, I need to go check on my girl." Robert knew it was a wise decision to stay quiet. Or else, Damon was only going to humiliate his bride more.

With other guests, Damon was as normal as he could be. He never for once made any mean remark on Nancy or humiliated her. And, Nancy always got away with most things asking Damon "Whatever you decide,"

They got finished with most of the guests when Damon asked, "Can you dance?"

"I can try," Nancy replied.

"Follow my lead," Damon replied with his eyes focused on someone who had nodded to him from afar.

Only a few minutes later their dance was announced and Damon led her to the dance floor. Nancy's injured hand was on the other side from the view while Damon got her free hand on his shoulder. The band played a slow beat and Damon asked. "What a beautiful day! You thought you were going to die and Voila. You get to marry as influential as me in this city." Damon's nose was almost touching hers. And, he was looking into her eyes but she closed them when he said those words.

"Answer me," Damon demanded.

"I feel lucky."

"You don't sound lucky." Damon pressed her waist more into him. Their bodies were almost touching and Nancy lost her ability to make any words. The realization was setting in. She had signed herself up to this man for life. Whatever short or long life she had left with.

"I wanted to thank you. For helping me to get down at the time of our vows..." Damon smiled. He knew she was praising her good act so she could get the best out of him.

"What can I say? I am a gentleman until I am not. Wasn't it very generous of me to accept your marriage proposal?" Damon reminded her.

"Thank you. Thank you for giving me a chance. I will try my best to not disappoint you..."

"Don't, don't do this. You know I don't want this, my wife." Nancy gulped and looked at him. They kept moving to the beat and Nancy's shortness of breath was very much noticed by Damon.

"I can live up to every vow I have made. And, when I said I will be the perfect wife. I promise I will play this role with honesty."

"You think I have married you because I wanted to see what kind of wife you could be? No!..." He started his hand on her back up and down. "I haven't married you to play wife with you. I have done it hurt you. I want to see you hurt. You will follow me everywhere and I can hurt you all the time. I will make sure you don't smile ever." Nancy bit her lower lip. Her eyes were filled with water. She was deeply hurt by his words. But Damon leaned to her ear and whispered. "I am going to strip you naked. And, fuck you anywhere I get a hard-on. I am going to keep you on your four twenty times a day. You are going to be my fuck bitch, my punching bag, and my entertainment for when I am bored. It is up to you for how long you want to pay for getting to live."

A ball of emotions builds up in the back of Nancy's throat. "You promised you would take care of me." Nancy hiccupped a little.

Damon couldn't help a laugh at her attempt. "You didn't say it. Do you think it matters to me? Also, it is expected of husbands in such marriages. Not required. You will wish that we never get back home from the parties and other social events. You know where we have to pretend that we are the luckiest in stupid love? Like, this one here. Our wedding ceremony. I promise you sweetheart you will be scared to get home back. Or be alone with me. Every time without a fail."

Their music came to an end. The crowd clapped for them. The dinner followed the next. Robert was alone with Damon at the dining table. Selena kept herself excused because she knew Damon would be even more sadistic to Nancy in her presence. The person who was about to serve Nancy was stopped by Damon. "Get back."

"Let me set a plate for her." Robert offered given many eyes could be on their table but Damon was quick to interrupt. "She is on a fast. A stupid diet. I don't know. She will only drink water." Damon offered a glass of water to her and Nancy whispered, "Thank you,"

"I don't want to give you any energy for what is to come in a few hours." Damon leaned in her ear to whisper. Nancy couldn't rest. He had made her more anxious with his statements. She wonders what he will do to her. Nancy was tired of standing and walking in such a dress. And, Damon's remarks weren't any help too. But even with such exhaustion, she didn't want this party to end. She didn't want to be alone with Damon. She didn't want tonight to befall them.
