3rd Person's POV (Y/N) sighed as she gathered her things after work. She worked in a medical field, hoping to one day become the doctor she admired. It was a long and tiring process, no wonder most people drop out after college or decide not to go to college at all. Why medicine? You may ask, well the answer was simple, she was following her mother's footsteps. Her mother, (Y/M/N) was her hero, her idol. She loved her to death, it was never her mother's intentions to get pregnant with her but she kept the baby while pursuing her dreams. (Y/N) thought she had only come to slow her mother down but (Y/M/N) constantly reminded her that she was a blessing and her comfort. (Y/N) smiled as she thought of her mother, deciding to stop at their local coffee shop on the way home.

The smell of freshly baked pastries greeted her, she exhaled in content, the environment here was her favourite. Approaching the cashier, she was greeted by the sight of her good friend, Nicholas. Herself and Nicholas when to the same college but unfortunately, he couldn't continue due to financial issues. However, he supported (Y/N) with every decision she made and was happy to see her succeed. "Hi bestfriend! The usual?" His ever-cheerful voice rang in her ears. Come to think of it, there was not one day where she had ever seen him out of his cherry mood, it was weird. No one can constantly be that happy, right? "Hi Nick, you know me so well" she replied. He got to work, brewing her coffee. "How's school going?" He asked, making small talk "Hectic, but I'm getting used to it." She replied. "You're brave to choose Medicine, I could never. Imagine having to look at the insides of someone, gross!" He shuddered, and gave her the order. Ah! Black coffee with a side chocolate muffin, perfect.

(Y/N) giggled at his reaction, "it's not so bad, you'll get used to it after throwing up a couple of times." "False but whatever you say. My shift has just ended, thank God!" "It's never really too busy here, is it?" "No, not really. There was a time we had a lot of people at the same time. I nearly quit" he huffed. She chuckled, taking a sip of her coffee. Nicholas was always the dramatic friend while she was more laid back and calm, the most iconic duo. The pair made conversation till (Y/N) was done, making sure to tip him, she waved goodbye and left the shop as he closed up. After walking for a bit, (Y/N) felt an eerie presence, spinning around to see no one. It wasn't that late, only 7 p.m. and there were still people out so she shrugged off the feeling but hurried home.

Opening the front door of her house, her smile fell when she saw Steve, her stepfather, sprawled lazily on the couch. He turned when he heard the door, "about time you got home, kiddo" he spoke "Where's mom?" "Your mother isn't home yet, how about you do us both a favor and make me some dinner. I told that mother of yours to have some ready for me by the time I get home" he ordered. The nerve of this man! "Get home? You don't ever leave this couch, where the hell could you be coming from?" (Y/N) snapped. "How dare you say that?! You will respect me as the man of this house!" He growled. "Respect is earned, when you earn it then I'll give it to you" she shot, going upstairs. "You brat! Get down here!" He yelled, the slamming of the upstairs door was all he received. (Y/N) slumped against the door, she was tired. She wished she could give her mother the life she wanted, it hurt that she had to put up with such a lazy, good-for-nothing man like Steve. The reason behind their marriage is something that puzzled her up to this day. She understood that her real father passed away when she was young but why did mom have to marry such a fool? She sighed and stood up, going to the bathroom to freshen up. She sat on her bed in a fresh change of clothes, staring at the ceiling then she remembered something, her guitar! Yes, she owned a guitar, her mother gave it to her two years ago

She cherished it very much.

Retrieving said object, she smiled at the memory. She desperately wanted to learn how to play, she even remembered playing it awfully for her mother when she first got it. (Y/M/N) laughed at the awful sound but cheered her on nevertheless, she was always so supportive. But now, after several classes, (Y/N) was great at it, playing it to herself to de-stress.

She hummed along the soft tune she played before a knock at her door interrupted her. She growled, ready to argue with Steve only for her mother's face to come into view. "Mom!" Hugging said woman happily. (Y/M/N) hugged back, "how are you, darling?" "Much better, now that you're here" she answered. "C'mon, I made us dinner." "I don't want to eat if Steve is going to be there" she scoffed. Her mother smiled softly, "I know you don't like him but I definitely want to have dinner with someone I love" she teased. (Y/N) giggled, "ok, I'll have dinner with you" "Shall we?" Her mother joked, holding out her arm "Yes, we shall" (Y/N) played along, linking hands with her mother and going downstairs with her. At dinner, (Y/N) glared at Steve stuffed his face like a greedy pig. "You know, table manners exist." She spoke up. "Why you-" "Ok, I think that's enough" her mother interrupted. "Don't cut me off! Let me scold this brat!" "Don't yell at my mother, you brute!" The pair bickered and (Y/M/N) sighed. (Y/N) saw this and stopped, "Forget you, I came here to have dinner with a woman of class not a caveman" "That's it! I need a drink!" He yelled and slammed the cutlery on the plate before storming out. "There, now the air doesn't smell like we haven't taken out the trash" (Y/N) remarked, proud that she drove Steve out temporarily. (Y/M/N) laughed at her daughter's comment, "oh (Y/N), you're never going to make peace with him, are you?" "Nope, you deserve way better" "I just didn't want you to grow up without a father figure" "Trust me mom, I'd rather be dead than allow Steve to comfortably say he's replacing dad. And you tell me I have bad taste in guys." Her mother gasped in fake offence, "stop it" They laughed and continued dinner in peace. Soon, they turned in for the night, locking up since Steve had his own key. "Goodnight my love" her mother said. She still had the habit of tucking (Y/N) in, well in this case, making sure (Y/N) was comfortable in bed before retiring to her own. "Goodnight mom, I love you" "I love you too, so so much." She closed the door and made her way to her own room. She didn't share with Steve, no one would. She sighed as she sat on her bed, time was drawing closer and she still couldn't bring herself to tell (Y/N). The familiar elongated creature appeared in the corner of her room, "You have to tell her eventually, we had an agreement" "Of course, Slenderman. I hope she'll be safe, she's the only important thing in my life." "Of course she would"

Ok, let's take a pause here. You're probably wondering what's going on. Why would Slenderman be talking to (Y/M/N)? And what is he talking about? Let's take a look, shall we?

-FLASHBACK STARTS- (Y/M/N) had given birth to young (Y/N). (Y/N)'s father, (Y/F/N), smiled at the sight of the baby girl. "She's beautiful, just like you." He admired. Now the thing is, (Y/F/M) had a deadly genetic disease and (Y/N) inherited it which made (Y/M/N) worried. She was woken up one evening by her husband coughing violently, "Honey! Oh my Gosh!" She panicked, bringing him water and trying to help him calm down, key word...trying. (Y/F/M) fell face first into his vomit, dead. (Y/M/N) screamed and grabbed her phone, calling 911 A few minutes later and ambulance arrived on the scene, wheeling away a lifeless (Y/F/M). "I'm sorry for your loss" one of the paramedics apologized before getting into the ambulance with the body. (Y/M/N) was reduced to tears, not getting any sleep that night. She prayed you'd not encounter the same fate and for a while, everything seemed normal till (Y/N) started violently coughing one day. Panic washed over her like a tidal wave, not willing to lose another one of her family. She screamed when the child fell down, unconscious, her small body looking lifeless. She called 911 but it seemed to take forever for them to get there. She held her close, babbling and crying. "Oh p-please, please don't die! Anything that's out there please save my daughter!" She begged. Slenderman appeared on the scene causing her to scream and back away with the body. "The humans are not coming but I can save your infant." His deep voice echoed. At that point she didn't bother to question where he came from, who he was or how he was speaking without a mouth. Shuffling in front of him she begged, "please, please save her. I can't lose her" "I will but only one the condition that both of you become mine." "Anything! Please!" He nodded and held the child to himself before dripping some black goo from his tendrils into her nose and mouth and handed the child back. (Y/M/N) gasped as she felt a heartbeat and breathing. "She'll become one of us on her 21st birthday, a killer that she was meant to be but she will remember you and regard you." "Thank you, I-" but he was gone, vanished into the night. The child opened their eyes and coughed, looking up at her and giggled. (Y/M/N) briefly saw a flash of red in her eyes before their normal color returned, oh she hopes she made the right choice.

-FLASHBACK ENDS-

Makes sense now, doesn't it? Onto the story.

"She turned 21 five months ago, you're a little late. Don't you think?" "I only wanted to give it time, she'll have an encounter for a transformation" "You better not make her look like a freak" she warned. "I would never, I wouldn't want to tarnish her beauty. We will meet again" and with that, he was gone. (Y/M/N) exhaled, it's for the best.
