It's been five days since Darcy was discharged from the hospital and she's been making a lot of progress.

She's pretty much warmed up to all of us, she spends her mornings with Dante walking Bear, her afternoons with Me, Romeo, Gabriele or Angelo either playing Minecraft or painting, her evenings with Arlo helping him cook and her nights with Alonzo.

Apparently, once we're all in bed the little sneak would make her way to Alonzo's room to have some type of secret movie night without us.

They've been keeping this tradition since the hospital which was heartwarming to hear at first until we realised that Darcy hasn't been sleeping at all during the night, which explains her constant napping throughout the day.

Lorenzo was going to add this onto the list of things they were going to 'chat' about tonight. He's been preparing to have a pretty loaded conversation with Darcy about her past and all of the issues we've slowly been noticing.

That's why today he authorised a day out for me and Darcy. He's been trying to keep her hidden until we find the perfect time to alert out allies of her return because if we tell them, our enemies will soon find out.

This day out is supposed to put Darcy in a good mood before her impending conversation with Enzo. He picked me because me and Darcy get along the best, we have all the same interests like reading, writing and pottery.

We've gotten a lot closer the past few days, when we're alone she even talks to me as well as joining me in belting out Taylor Swift songs. Her favourites at the moment are Cruel summer and Bejewelled but I think Invisible string is the one that applies to us the most.

The boys have always made fun of me for having 'feminine' interests but look who's laughing now. I'm the one allowed to take our little sister out while they have to go to school and work.

I lead Darcy outside where I have left her first surprise. It look a while to convincer her to leave Bear at home today but I explained to her that most shops wouldn't let that massive dog in so she reluctantly agreed.

"Okayyyy you can look... Now," I say, lifting my hands from covering her eyes revealing two bikes that I bought yesterday. She squeals and points to herself. "Yes that ones for you," I say pointing to the pastel yellow one with the wicker basket.

Her smile is so big, it fills me with joy knowing I was the one who made her that happy.

"You know how to ride it?" I ask, swinging my leg onto my sage coloured one. She nodded ferociously and hopped on her one.

We cycle down the drive and out onto the main road, on the way to town. We live in a remote area, there's nothing but empty fields and hills lining the road, meaning this bike ride would be a long one.

I connect my airpods and the ones I bought Darcy and turn on my playlist. We listen to 'Put your records on' by Corinne as sun rays beam on our faces, Darcy's short sundress flowing in the wind.

The almost hour long bike ride feels like ten minutes as we make it into town. We lock up our bikes and head to our first destination, this cute little independent book shop with a café attached.

We spend about twenty minutes picking out books, reading the blurbs of each one. "You should get this one," Darcy quietly suggests. "Yeah? What's it about," I reply, taking it from her hands.

When Darcy speaks I answer as fast as I can usually with a question, trying to get as much words out of her as possible. She briefly explains the plot to me as I add it to my pile.

We pay for our books and sit down in the little café, ordering two teas. "Hmm, I think you should tell her how I'm the best brother ever," I joke, helping Darcy write a letter to her friend back in Greece. Darcy giggles, actually writing it down to my surprise.

After slowly finishing our teas we make our way down the street to our bikes, passing the letter box on the way there. We bike down Italy's cobbled streets to the sea front.

We hop off our bikes and tie them to a fence post. "Come on slow poke," she teases me as I follow her to the beach. "Hey I'm not slow I'm just admiring this view," I say, motioning to the white sand and clear ocean.

Darcy reaches around and pulls out the small blanket from her backpack before spreading out on the sand and plopping down on it. "Okay, painting first," she orders as she pulls out her art supplies. I smirk at her bossiness.

We spend the next hour listening to music and taking turns painting on one canvas, passing it back and forth. Any beautiful work Darcy does is immediately tarnished by my unskilled painting. Once we're done I cringe at my terrible work but Darcy looks at it like it's the finest piece of art out there.

"Can we frame it?" she asks, looking up at me. "If that's what you want," I shrug, confused why she'd want to display that.

We pack away her paints and pull out our books, deciding to spend our remaining time reading.

It feels nice being able to relax for once and not having to think about the mafia and the danger that comes along with it. I know Lorenzo has had multiple undercover cars following us around all day, my trained eyes spotted them almost immediately unlike Darcy who remained blissfully unaware.

I don't know when or if they're planning on telling her, I think they're scared that she'll hate us. I'm scared too.

I look over to Darcy who's completely passed out, the book remaining open on her chest as sunlight rains over her.

I let her nap in the sun for two hours, surprised she even made it to four pm without a little sleep. We've all been very concerned about her sleeping, she outright refuses to sleep while it's dark out which is unusual for her as she's never defiant.

"Come on Darc it's time to go," I say, gently shaking her awake. She mumbles incoherently and snuggles into me, wrapping her arms around my waist.

Dio mio I love this kid.

Feeling bad, and wanting to prolong this hug for as long as possible I let her sleep for another twenty minutes.

I decide that we need to go now when I get a phone call from Enzo. I let it ring, knowing that if I answer he'll tell me to come home now. Once his call disappears I message him saying we'll be home in an hour or two before turning my phone on silent, leaving no room for argument.

Me and a groggy Darcy make our way back to the bikes and begin the now tiring uphill path back home.

"Can we take a break," Darcy shouts over the loud music ringing in our airpods. We've made it past town and to the stretch of roads leading back to the house.

We hop off our bikes and duck under the fencing that encases the miles of fields that are along the road. We collapse onto the floor amongst a patch of flowers, drained from the entirely uphill journey.

"It's beautiful out here," she declares, looking at the stretches of flowers. "I wish Bear was here, he'd love it," she said solemnly, picking at flowers and tying them together.

"It's okay, we can bring him out here on one of his walks yeah?" I say quickly, not wanting her to be upset. She nods then proceeds to motion for me to come closer. She places the tied flowers on my head before placing another on hers.

"They're flower crowns," she reveals, grinning at me.

I pull her into me, wrapping my arm around her before pulling out my phone. "Ah don't we look pretty," I laugh while taking multiple pictures of us.

It takes us another forty minutes to make it back to the house. We laugh loudly as we enter the front door, alerting the whole house that we're back. Gabriele and Romeo are the first to greet us, being the only ones downstairs.

"How was your day bambi," Gabriele says energetically, placing his hands on her shoulders. "Good," she says nervously, not making eyecontact. "We went to the beach," She smiles softly.

"Well I hope you're not tired because I wanna play Minecraft," Romeo interjects

Darcy begins to follow Romeo to the game room when Lorenzo appears at the top of the stairs, most likely just now completing today's work in his office.

"Darcy can you join me in my office, I'd like to discuss some things with you."
