chapter one :

like the demon?

------------------------

lillith was never very good at staying focused. it was something she had gotten into a lot of trouble for in her earlier years.

when her mother would scold her, and she would zone out or notice the birds instead of her mother's raised voice. when her brother would mock her only to find her fascinated by something on the shelf instead.

or when her sister would try to explain something, and she would look at the plant wondering how it got its colors.

or in school like now when teachers would give an assignment and speak about it for an hour, and she would focus on the paper before her and the way her pen moved as she drew a variation of stuff on it.

when she like now was at a loss for what to do when the teacher stopped talking.

'' MS decker, mr Salvador you two pair up '' the teacher spoke lastly after pairing up all the others in small groups. Salvador?

lillith knew little to nothing about the Salvador man, she knew he was graduating this year, and that he was trouble. bit trouble. which was what made her fear the darkhaired boy who turned his gaze towards her.

he squinted his eyes as the other students began to get up and move to their partners so they could begin their studies. lillith diverted her gaze focusing on gathering all her stuff and shoving it into her backpack.

she didn't notice him until he was standing directly next to her making her flinch away. she glanced up at the much taller boy trying to mask her anxiety with a smile. '' hey'' she greeted rather awkwardly.

he didn't reply which made her nerves wreck even more '' I'm lillith '' she added his brows furrowed for a second. '' like the demon?'' he asked bluntly.

she gulped '' yeah, I guess-'' she didn't like that question very much, unfortunately he wasn't the first to ask and most likely not the last either. '' I'm Lorenzo'' he introduced after a while.

when she was finished gathering her things without saying a word he began to walk away, when she didn't follow, he turned around with a confused look '' are you coming or do you want to fail this class?'' he asked not joking, but seemingly fully serious.

she gulped again walking up to him, so she was standing a little away from him. '' where are we going ?'' she asked quietly. he glanced down at her with a smirk. '' your place?'' he suggested.

her breath hitched at his suggestion '' what about the library?'' she asked instead. he didn't reply at first which made her nerves wreck. '' sure'' he finally spoke beginning to walk again.

he stopped a little down the hallway turning around to see lillith practically running to catch up with his fast and long strides. once she caught up to him again her breathing heavy as she was helplessly trying to catch her breath, his pace slowed down significantly.

she muttered a soft thanks upon realizing he was trying to match her pace.

her brows furrowed when he opened a door that she was sure didn't lead to the library. he held it open for her giving her a confused look as to why she hadn't entered '' this isn't the library'' she stated quietly her cheeks turning bright red as he chuckled.

she found the sound rather angelic, though she knew from how people starred at him when they walked by, and by the stories she had heard that he was far from angelic.

'' it's me and my brothers personal study room'' he clarified turning on the room before gently tugging me inside. it seemed rather odd. his gentle touch. he suddenly didn't look angelic far from.

he looked like a Greek war god, sculptured with the perfect face and body but with blood dripping from his hands and sharp teeth. he put her on edge.

mostly because he wasn't being as cruel as she had thought, he was blunt yes, and perhaps a bit strange. but not cruel. it made her confused. very confused indeed.

the Salvador twins were supposed to be heartless monsters. everyone called them lunatics and some even went as far as to call them demons. and yet here were the eldest of the twins sitting down tilting his head seemingly waiting for her to sit down opposite of him at the large oak table.

she slowly sat down placing her bag on the floor next to her.

he grinned at her before he spoke. '' so what subject are we choosing?''

***

time seemed to fly by. at least for her it did.

they had settled to work with ancient Greece as their history project. it seemed fit for him to work with ancient Greece. he would fit in there- stoic and unfaltering. like a warrior.

time flew by not because she was in his presence no, she had practically forgotten he was there at one point while scribbling down notes into her small brown notebook while her eyes scanned over the words on her laptop.

she was easily distracted and struggled focusing most of the times. and yet once she finally began to study something she found the mere thought of stopping almost depressing and time became something she was foreign with.

for the boy sitting opposite of her it was quite another story.

he too had the feeling time was passing to hastily. his eyes never truly left the girl before him only now and then glancing down at the book he had already read some years ago.

she didn't seem to notice his stares. in fact, she seemed completely engrossed with her studies. how he hadn't noticed her before was a mystery to him. she seemed hard to miss.

she wore old clothes, not that they were torn or stained but rather she wore clothes that didn't quite fit the century but looked like something out of an old novel.

he was surprised he hadn't noticed her before.

because right now starring at her he knew one thing for sure. this was her. the one him and his brother had been hoping to find for so long.

how could he have missed her when she was right here all along. perhaps he and his brother truly did need to start attending school more.

no to Lorenzo time seemed to pass to quickly, because he wanted to spend an eternity studying the way her brows would furrow ever now and then and how her hand moved writing beautifully cursive letters with only the minimal glance down at the paper.

he wanted to spend another several hours studying her entire being.

to trace out every single freckle that adorned her skin, and to touch every part of her body. he wanted to taint her- no he wanted to mark her his, claim her innocence and then wrap her in it. he wanted to take it from her so no one else could do it.

and then he wanted to be the one to hide it away. to make her innocence the most guarded thing in the world.

or rather he couldn't decide if he wanted to do that or if he wanted to take her hand and drag her down to hell with him and his brothers.

to taint her and make her theirs in every possible way.

he hadn't decided which idea thrilled him the most. all he knew was that now that she was here, now that he had found her. after he had consulted his brothers and they had meet her, she would never leave them.

now, her fate was sealed now.
