In Shao Kahn's throne room, Shao Kahn can be seen with Quan Chi, who has reunited him with Sindel.

"It would seem you have proved yourself, Quan Chi." Shao Kahn says.

"It is as I said, I wish only to serve, emperor." Quan Chi says.

"And now I will finally invade Earthrealm and claim what is rightfully mine." Shao Kahn says.

"Indeed you will, my husband. Now, we must prepare the army." Sindel suggests.

"Of course, wife." Shao Kahn says.

Skarlet, one of Shao Kahn's minions then enters the throne room. Shao Kahn takes notice.

"You arrive not a moment too soon, Skarlet." Shao Kahn says.

"How may I serve you, your excellency?" Skarlet asks.

"Prepare the legions, you will leave for Earthrealm to invade within the hour." Shao Kahn orders.

Skarlet looks surprised to hear this.

"Invade? Isn't that against the rules of Mortal Kombat?" Skarlet asks, not liking this idea.

Shao Kahn then growls in annoyance.

"Those rules left me in shackles! I will not be bound to them any longer. Earthrealm will be mine." Shao Kahn says.

"You do this, the elder gods will destroy you." Skarlet points out.

"The elder gods are nothing but ineffectual deities who just sit around and let those Earthrealmers do their work for them! They hold no power over me any longer!" Shao Kahn yells.

Skarlet stays silent as she hangs her head down. Shao Kahn then approaches her and gets close to her face.

"Know your place, blood mage." Shao Kahn says.

Skarlet nods her head in response as she then walks out of the throne room, deep in thought.

Later, Skarlet finds herself in the armory, looking through the army's preparations, such as the tarkatans readying their newly given firearms, courtesy of Kano and Shokan sharpening their weapons. As all this occurred, Skarlet's mind was still lingering on what occurred in the throne room earlier. She has never been in this situation before. She has always been loyal to a fault to Shao Kahn ever since he rose her up from homelessness and taught her blood magic. But now, it's seems her loyalty is beginning to waver, seeing that Shao Kahn is willing to break the rules of Mortal Kombat. It just made her blood boil. Her uneasiness doesn't go unnoticed as Baraka approaches her.

"What is it that troubles you, Skarlet?" Baraka asks.

Skarlet sighs as she looks towards the tarkatan.

"All this just sit right with me. Invading Earthrealm with victory in Mortal Kombat? It... it's just asking for trouble." Skarlet explains.

"It is the emperor's will." Baraka points out.

"You think I don't know that? All this will just end with him getting killed by the elder gods."

"You dare insult the emperor?" Baraka asks, glaring at the blood mage.

"I should have seen what he was truly capable of. I won't be a part of this." Skarlet says.

She then turns to walk out of the armory. With a command, Baraka orders a group the tarkatans to block her path. Skarlet turns back towards Baraka, who has unsheathed his arm blades.

"You will not just walk away." Baraka says.

Skarlet then readies her dagger.

"Then you leave me no choice." Skarlet replies.

With a swift motion, Skarlet slashes the eyes of the closest tarkatan, blinding them before delivering a stab to the top of the head. A second tarkatan rushes in and tries to slash at her, but she avoids the strikes and relievers a swift kick to the abdomen, stunning the tarkatan. Two more rush in and she quickly forms two javelins out of the dead tarkatan's blood and throws them at the rushing Tarkatans, stabbing them through the mouth and out the back of the neck. As they fall, Skarlet rushes to the stunned Tarkatan, grabs him, and turns him around as Baraka rushes in the stab her, ending with the tarkatan being stabbed instead, the blades going through the chest. Baraka throws his dead comrade to the side and attacks Skarlet. He goes for a punch to the head, followed with a kick to the leg and a stab to the chest, all of which skarlet blocks. Baraka then goes for a punch to the abdomen but she grabs his fist and uses her remaining hand to punch Baraka in the jaw, causing him to stagger. She then follows with another punch to the head before forming a large wave of blood from the fallen tarkatans and sends it towards Baraka, throwing him backwards. Baraka quickly rises to his feet and sends a shoulder strike to Skarlet, knocking her backwards.

"You will bleed for your treachery!" Baraka yells.

They then fight again. Baraka has a ferocity and aggression that is unmatched, but Skarlet has magic on her side which gives her the edge in the battle. She soon knocks Baraka into unconsciousness.

"You didn't give me a choice, Baraka." Skarlet says.

She then looks up to see the Shokan with their weapons at the ready, glaring at Skarlet who assumes a fighting stance. The Shokan then step to the sides and Goro and Sheeva walks through and confront Skarlet.

"The emperor will be most furious of your betrayal, Skarlet." Sheeva says.

"He is making a terrible mistake and it cost him his life." Skarlet replies.

"Enough! We will send you back to Shao Kahn in pieces!" Goro yells.

They then fight. The fighting power of Goro and Sheeva gives Skarlet the fight of her life. Their fighting skill and magic gives them an edge and Goro especially shows why he became the champion of Outworld. Through sheer determination and willpower, Skarlet knocks them both down after a long and brutal battle.

"Give your emperor my regards." Skarlet says.

The rest of the Shokan then charge but Skarlet becomes a blood puddle and slides right underneath them and past the opened gate. She then rematerializes and slams the gate down, decapitating one of Shokan who got too close. Satisfied, Skarlet flees the armory, the sounds of the Shokan screaming of rage calling out from behind.

After some time, Skarlet finds herself in the wastelands of Outworld. Taking a deep breath, she takes a moment to think about the events that have just occurred.

"Shao Kahn will no doubt hear about this and send assassins to try and kill me. I need to leave Outworld immediately and warn Earthrealm, but how?" Skarlet wonders.

She takes a moment to think of a solution and it comes to her.

"It's risky, but if I'm gonna have any chance of escape, I will need Quan Chi." Skarlet realizes.

Right as she finishes her sentence, a portal opens in front of her and Quan Chi walks out of the portal followed by Empress Sindel.

"I am most disappointed Skarlet. Turning against Shao Kahn? Know that it will cost you your life." Sindel says.

"I am aware Sindel. I'm leaving, and you can't stop me." Skarlet says.

"You're not going anywhere, child. Quan Chi, Join me in battle." Sindel says.

"Yes, Empress." Quan Chi replies.

The two then assume fighting stances as Skarlet does as well.

"Nothing can help you now." Sindel says.

They then fight. The combined might of Sindel and Quan Chi proves to be Skarlet's most difficult fight in her life. Quan Chi's mastery of Sorcery and Sindel strength and fighting skill, along with her sonic scream, makes them quite the deadly alliance. It takes everything Skarlet has to even stay in the fight. However, she manages to pull through and send them to the ground."

"Now with that out of the way." Skarlet says.

Skarlet then grabs Quan Chi and puts him into a chokehold, holding a dagger to his neck.

"You will open a portal to Earthrealm for me." Skarlet demands.

Quan Chi simply laughs defiantly.

"Silly child, you think that would scare me?" Quan Chi asks.

"All beings, even you fear the claim of death. And I'm sure you don't want now. Do you?" Skarlet says.

She then brings the dagger closer to his neck, drawing blood, showing Quan Chi that she is being serious.

"Open the portal to Earthrealm. Now!" Skarlet demands.

Seeing no other option, Quan Chi complies a opens a portal.

"Thank you." Skarlet says.

Suddenly, with the back hand of the dagger, Skarlet hits the sorcerer in the head, knocking him out. She then takes the blood from the dagger and absorbs it.

"Interesting." Skarlet says before walking into the portal.

Fully walking through, Skarlet finds herself at the Wu Shi Academy. As she looks around, she is confronted by Raiden, Liu Kang, Manado, Kitana, and Jade.

"Skarlet. Return to your emperor. You are not welcome here." Kitana says.

"He is not my emperor anymore. I betrayed him and fled here where I bring urgent news." Skarlet says.

"You lie Skarlet. You were sent her to dispose of us. That's not going to happen." Jade says, readying her staff for kombat.

Manado then holds a hand out in front of her, stopping her.

"Wait a minute you two. We should listen, she may be telling the truth." Manado suggests.

"Manado is right. We should at least listen to what she has to say." Liu Kang says.

"No. She is one of Shao Kahn's slaves, she is not to be trusted." Raiden points out.

"I understand your mistrust lord Raiden, but trust that I speak in truth." Skarlet assures.

Raiden then steps forward and assumes a fighting stance as lightning begin to form on his arms.

"Lies, Blood Witch! You will not threaten Earthrealm!" Raiden says.

Forced into this situation, the two then fight. Skarlet has never fought a Demi god and fighting with Raiden, she understands why. His sheer power and fighting skills is nearly unmatched in all the realms. Skarlet, seeing no other option, pushes through the fight and manages to at least push Raiden to his knees.

"Raiden, you must listen." Skarlet says.

Raiden rises again, glaring at the blood mage.

"Spill your false words elasewhere Skarlet. Shao Kahn will not entrap us." Raiden says angrily.

Suddenly a hand on his shoulder stops his advance. He looks to see it was Manado.

"Raiden, that's enough." Manado says.

"What is this?" Raiden asks.

"This fight is meaningless. It is clear that Skarlet has no ill will against us or Earthrealm. We should at least give her the benefit of the doubt and hear her out." Manado explains.

Raiden then takes a deep breath, realizing the truth in Manado's words.

"Very well." Raiden says.

Manado nods his head before Kitana approaches him.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Kitana asks.

"If I have learned anything, it's that everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves." Manado explains.

Manado then turns towards Skarlet.

"Alright Skarlet, tell us what you know." Manado says.

"Shao Kahn is preparing his army to invade Earthrealm. I disagreed with him as it would violate the rules of Mortal Kombat. So I fled here to warn you all of the danger that lies ahead." Skarlet explains.

"How long?" Raiden asks.

"Not long, Shao Kahn is urging the armies to prepare within the hour." Skarlet replies.

"Then we must assemble Earthrealm's forces. Everyone, gather whoever you can. We must prepare for war." Raiden says.
