Dominic drove me back before school, and seeing that Clara wasn't there, I walked over to Katie's, not wanting to be alone.
Snow started to fall, despite it being nearly February.
I knocked on the door, waiting a few minutes before a disheveled Katie opened the front door.
"Gosh, why are you here so early?"
I explained Clara had left for work.
She looked at me, confused, before she finally let me in. She shuffled into the kitchen, making herself a coffee before she asked if I wanted one. I shook my head.
She sighed loudly as she sat on the sofa. "I really don't want to go today," she complained, taking a sip from her coffee. "You know what, we should skip." Her eyes lit up as she turned to look back at me.
"I don't know-"
"Ughh, come on, V," she dragged. "Just one day. We won't get caught."
"We really shouldn't though." I watched as she went back into the kitchen.
"Fine," she shrugged. "But you'll be late. I'm not taking you, so, either you come with me, or you call someone else to take you. I'm not going. I'm thinking about breakfast somewhere and then we can go shopping. Oh! I'll text Macy," she said as if my decision had already been decided for.
I watched her, realizing then I had left my phone at Dominic's apartment. I looked outside, watching as the snow fell. I'll walk then.
"Okay." I walked towards the door.
"Wait, you're not actually going to walk there, are you?"
"I am."
She straightened, putting down her phone. "Okay then, suit yourself. Who cares if you freeze to death," she said, both disappointment and annoyance in her tone.
I stepped onto the sidewalk and started towards the school.
