---------------------------------------------------------
As Suryadev's radiant presense faded from the room, Bhishma saw the moment to take the next step in officially welcoming Karna into their family.
With a smile Bhishma turned to Vidur and gave him an instruction. "Vidur, please go and bring Kripacharya."
Without delay, Vidur, nodded and left.
When Kripacharya arrived, Bhishma then spoke to the royal family, "My dear family, the time has come for us to officially embrace Karna as one of our own. He already has a place in our hearts. Now, we must make this bond official."
Satyavati, the wise Rajmata, agreed. "Indeed, Karna has already brought light to our lives. It's only right that we now proceed with the formal adoption."
Vidur, known for his wisdom, raised a question. "Tatshree, I respect your decision, but I wonder — With Suryadev's blessing to Gandhari Bhabhi shree, it is unmistakably clear that Karna is her son in every sense. Then why is an adoption ceremony necessary?"
Bhishma, replied. "Vidur, your question is valid, and I appreciate your wisdom. While Suryadev's blessing does make Karna Gandhari's son, we must think beyond our family. In this ever-changing world, misunderstandings can arise, and there may come a time when Karna's status is questioned by others. By conducting an adoption ceremony, we ensure that there will be no doubts or disputes about Karna's rightful place in our family. It's a symbolic gesture, not only for our hearts but for the world, to see that Karna is truly a part of us."
Bhishma continued, "I also suggest that we do not reveal the details of Karna's adoption to anyone outside our family. To the outside world, it will be known that a sacred yagna is being performed by Dhritarashtra and Gandhari and Karna will be celebrated as their divine child, blessed by Suryadev during this ceremony."
The family members exchanged approving glances.
Kripacharya then spoke. "Rajmata, tomorrow is the most auspicious day for Karna's formal adoption."
However, Gandhari, who had embraced Karna as her own, has something more to say. With a smile full of love, she spoke up. "Before we proceed, there is one more matter I wish to address."
Everyone turned to her with curiosity.
"I wish to name Karna," Gandhari announced.
"I believe that a name holds great meaning, and I want to choose a name that reflects the blessings and love he has brought into our lives."
Her request made everyone realize they had been so focused on the adoption that they hadn't thought about naming Karna.
Pandu, ever supportive, was the first to speak. "Bhabhi shree is right. Karna deserves a name that reflects our love and acceptance."
Dritharashtra, nodded. "Yes, Gandhari, you should choose a name for Karna. It is an honor you deserve."
Vidur, added his support. "A name is a reflection of one's identity. Please, Bhabhi shree, choose a name for him."
Satyavati, Bhishma, Ambika, and Ambalika all agreed.
Gandhari smiled.
Ambika, then suggested that everyone should rest. "It's time for us to prepare for tomorrow's important ceremony."
Satyavati nodded in agreement. "Yes, After the adoption ceremony, we must also announce to our people about their new prince. It's a momentous occasion for our kingdom."
Ambalika, turned to Gandhari and gently said, "Gandhari, Karna must be hungry."
Gandhari nodded in agreement, and along with Ambika and Ambalika, she went to tend to Karna's needs.
With these words of assurance and the anticipation of the upcoming day, the assembled royals began to disperse to their respective rooms to rest and prepare for the momentous occasion.
---------------------------------------------------------
Later, Dritharashtra, full of joy, said, "Finally, Karna will officially be my son. It's been waiting for this moment."
Pandu, with a smile, added, "Yes, Jyesth, now he is the eldest rajkumar. We are going to spoil him with our love, care, — and a little mischief."
Vidur, chimed in, "Bhrata, mischief? If you are with Karna, then I am sure he will become a prankster."
Pandu, laughed, "That's true, Vidur. But you'll be here to teach him values and responsibilities befitting a prince. So, let me have some fun with him!"
Vidur, seeing his brother behave like a child, just shakes his head in disbelief.
Dritharashtra, listening to his brothers' banter, stopped them and said, "Together, we will guide Karna on the path of greatness."
The three brothers shared a moment of closeness, their bond as brothers growing stronger, as they looked forward to a bright future.
---------------------------------------------------------
Gandhari sat in her private chamber, cradling Karna in her arms, feeding him for the first time since receiving Suryadev's boon.
As she lovingly fed Karna, she couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of completeness, a deep connection with the child she had embraced as her own.
While feeding him, she whispered to Karna, "My dear Karna, from the moment I first heard about you, from the very first cry I heard, and now as I hold you close, I feel a connection. It's as if you and I share a bond that goes beyond understanding."
Dritharashtra, guided by the sound of her voice, quietly entered the room. He listened, sensing the love and care in Gandhari's voice as she spoke to their son.
After feeding Karna, Gandhari placed him gently in his cradle.
Dritharashtra approached her "Gandhari, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for accepting Karna."
Gandhari smiled. "There's no need to thank me, Arya. Karna is a blessing to us all."
Dritharashtra, then asked with curiosity, "Have you decided on a name for him?"
Gandhari replied, "Yes, I have chosen a name. But, Arya, before I reveal it, there is something important I wish to discuss, and I ask that you do not interrupt."
Sensing the seriousness in her voice, Dritharashtra took a seat beside her on the bed.
Gandhari, "Arya, I received a divine boon from Mahadev... It was the blessing of a child, Arya, a child who would carry the very essence of Mahadev. Our entire kingdom celebrated this gift. But Sage Durvasa, he... He gave a curse...."
Dritharashtra, asked, "Curse? What curse?"
Gandhari's voice trembled slightly as she recounted, "Arya, the one destined to carry Mahadev's essence, would not be born from my womb..."
Dritharashtra, a deep frown creasing his forehead.
Gandhari, her heart heavy with the memory, explained, "Rishi Durvasa said that this was not a curse born out of anger, but rather a part of destiny's plab. He assured me that my child's birth would be nothing short of extraordinary, beyond the boundaries of ordinary births."
Dritharashtra, his compassion evident, murmured, "I can only imagine the pain and fear you must have felt."
Gandhari, with a quiver in her voice, confessed, "I did fear the separation, Arya, the bond between a mother and her child...."
Dritharashtra, reached out to hold her hand, offering silent support.
Gandhari, touched by his gesture, continued, "To balance this unique destiny, Rishi Durvasa granted me a boon of a hundred sons. It was a promise of a future filled with both blessings and tests, which I embraced, trusting in Mahadev."
Gandhari continued, "One day, a celestial voice, revealed that my firstborn, a child born of Mahadev's essence, had come into this world. However, Arya, the child would remain hidden until the right time came for the child to be revealed."
Dritharashtra, filled with both hope and curiosity, asked, "Does this mean, Gandhari, that OUR SON, THE CHILD WITH MAHADEV'S ESSENCE, HAS ALREADY TAKEN BIRTH SOMEWHERE IN THIS WORLD?"
Gandhari, "YES, ARYA. OUR CHILD IS OUT THERE, WAITING FOR THE RIGHT TIME TO BE REVEALED. BUT KARNA WILL ALWAYS HOLD THE PLACE OF OUR ELDEST SON IN OUR HEARTS, NO MATTER WHAT."
Dritharashtra, touched by her words, agreed. "Then we will wait patiently for that moment. But Karna will always be our son."
Gandhari, her voice filled with affection for Karna, shared her heartfelt wish, "Arya, I wish to name Karna as 'Aditya,' meaning 'Son of the Sun.' It reflects his divine heritage as a Suryaputra."
Dritharashtra, suggested, "And, my dear, in remembrance of our son who is not with us, we can also name him 'Rudra,' signifying the mighty and divine."
Gandhari agreed, "Arya, you have chosen a beautiful name. He will be known as Aditya to the whole world, and Rudra in our hearts as we remember our son who is not with us."
In this way, Gandhari and Dhritarashtra expressed their deep love and acceptance for Karna, while acknowledging the unique destiny of their firstborn child.
---------------------------------------------------------
Sakuni, hidden in the shadows, listened to the heartfelt exchange between Gandhari and Dritharashtra about naming their beloved son, 'Aditya.' He couldn't help but be moved by the love and respect he witnessed between his sister and her husband.
"I now realize," Sakuni whispered to himself, his voice barely audible even to himself, "I now realize the depth of my sister Gandhari's love for this child, Karna."
Sakuni continued, his words filled with sincerity, "I've spent too long in darkness, blinded by my own doubts and suspicions. But the purity of Gandhari's love for Karna, her willingness to embrace him as her own, has shown me a path I never thought possible."
As he stood in the shadows, Sakuni made a solemn declaration to himself and to the unseen forces that had orchestrated this turning point in his life. "From this moment onward," he vowed, "I will not harm or think ill of Karna. I accept him as Gandhari's eldest son, a cherished member of our family." He realized, in that hushed moment, that he should not disturb Dritharashtra and Gandhari, who were sharing a deeply intimate moment with their son.
In his own thoughts, he quietly resolved, "I will meet my nephew Karna first thing in the morning," and decided to leave from there silently. This decision marked the beginning of his personal journey to accept Karna as a cherished member, just as Gandhari and Dritharashtra had done. The night held the promise of a new beginning.
---------------------------------------------------------
As the night embraced the kingdom of Hastinapur, the stars whispered their secrets to the silent heavens, and Karna, in the cradle of destiny, slept peacefully, unaware of the hidden truths that would one day unravel in his extraordinary life. Tomorrow, as the sun rose, his journey as 'Aditya' would begin, and the world would soon witness the remarkable tale of Suryaputra Karna, destined for greatness.
---------------------------------------------------------
As the first light of dawn bathed the city of Hastinapur in a soft, golden glow, a buzz of anticipation swept through its streets and alleys. Whispers of an extraordinary event, a momentous announcement, had already begun to circulate among the people.
They gathered in small clusters, eager and curious, speculating about the nature of this revelation. The air was charged with a sense of surprise and excitement, for it was clear that something of great importance was afoot.
And then, from the heart of the kingdom, heralds raised their voices, carrying the proclamation to every corner of Hastinapur:
"People of Hastinapur, heed this announcement! Just two days ago, our beloved Prince Dhritarashtra and Princess Gandhari entered into a sacred bond of matrimony. Today, in the privacy of the royal family, they shall perform a sacred yagna, invoking the favor of the gods and marking this momentous occasion."
The news spread like wildfire, igniting the curiosity and enthusiasm of the people of Hastinapur. In response, they gathered in front of the grand palace, faces filled with astonishment and delight. People of all ages and backgrounds united in their shared anticipation, recognizing the significance of this extraordinary day. The city's usual hustle and bustle had given way to a sense of collective wonder.
The air was charged with an electric energy, a palpable sense that history was being made and today, their beloved city would witness an event like no other.
---------------------------------------------------------
Eager anticipation filled Sakuni as he made his way to Gandhari's chamber. He had been waiting for this moment, longing to meet his newfound nephew, Karna. However, hesitation still tugged at his heart, remnants of past doubts and fears.
As he stood before the chamber's entrance, Sakuni took a deep breath, gathering his courage. He knew he had to cast aside any lingering suspicions and welcome this change in his family's dynamics. With a determined resolve, he entered the chamber.
Inside, he found Gandhari cradling Karna in her arms, their connection evident in the warmth of their smiles. Sakuni, witnessing the profound love between his sister and her newfound son, felt a transformation within himself.
Sakuni took a hesitant step forward, his eyes fixed on Karna's radiant and serene form, adorned with the divine kundals on his ears. In that moment, as he moved toward Karna, he did so without a trace of impure thoughts. With each step, he felt the weight of his past doubts and reservations melting away.
With newfound affection in his voice, Sakuni said, "Gandhari, will you not let me meet my nephew?"
Hearing his words, Gandhari, her heart touched by her brother's change of heart, warmly replied, "Come, Sakuni. I had invited you earlier, but you hesitated. Tell me, how does Karna look?"
Sakuni approached Karna, his gaze never leaving the child's peaceful countenance. As he held Karna in his arms, he couldn't help but be captivated by the radiant aura that surrounded him.
Sakuni said, "He looks as radiant as Suryadev himself, and yet there's a calmness about him that is truly extraordinary."
As Sakuni held Karna in his arms, the turmoil within his heart gradually gave way to a newfound sense of peace. He continued to gaze upon the child's innocent face, captivated by the ethereal charm that surrounded Karna. The divine kundals adorning Karna's ears seemed to accentuate his innate radiance, making him all the more enchanting.
In the quietness of his thoughts, Sakuni spoke to Karna without words, acknowledging the profound change that had taken place within him. "I do not know why fate has chosen to make you a part of this family, Karna," he whispered in his heart, "but as I hold you now, I can clearly see the depth of my sister's love for you. It's clear that you will always occupy a special place in her heart, and I can't help but respect and honor that."
Sakuni was keenly aware of the bond that was forming between him and Karna in that sacred moment. It was a bond forged on the foundation of acceptance, recognizing the love that Gandhari held for her newfound son.
Yet, beneath this newfound acceptance, Sakuni couldn't entirely shake a lingering fear. He admitted it to himself, knowing that he needed to confront it. "My only fear, Karna," he thought, "is that a day should not come when my sister is forced to make a choice between you and me. In my heart, I know that she will choose you, for you are precious to her. And if you are precious to my sister, then I am bound by the bonds of family to protect and cherish you as well. I cannot go against you. If needed, I will heed your words, no matter how cryptic they may be."
(A small hint for upcoming chapters - sakuni will be plotting and scheming again(not against karna) in upcoming chapters so this fear will come true one day)
With these complex emotions swirling within him, Sakuni cradled Karna gently in his arms. In that moment, he felt the weight of responsibility and the bonds of family strengthening between them. The radiant child had not only transformed Sakuni's heart but had also set in motion a series of events that would reshape the destiny of the Kuru dynasty.
As he looked into Karna's innocent eyes, Sakuni realized that this child carried within him a destiny that was intertwined with their family's, and he was determined to play his part in it with unwavering support and love.
---------------------------------------------------------
Inside the palace, there was a sense of excitement in every corner. The grand halls were beautifully decorated, and the ceremonial altar stood as a symbol of the importance of the occasion. The adoption ceremony of Karna was a moment that would be remembered in the history of Hastinapur.
In the royal chamber, Dhritarashtra and Gandhari, both dressed in their royal attire, stood together. Their love for each other had grown stronger in the short time they had been married, and their union had already brought great changes to their lives.
As they waited for the right moment to start the ceremony, Gandhari’s heart was filled with a mother’s love for Karna. She held him gently in her arms, silently promising to protect and care for him.
Kripacharya, the royal priest, stood nearby, ready to lead the ceremony.
Members of the royal family, both from Hastinapur and Gandhara, had gathered to witness this important event. Their presence showed how serious and meaningful the ceremony was, as they all understood how important it was to formally welcome Karna into their family.
Bhishma, stood at the front. His eyes were filled with both pride and affection as he looked at Karna.
The grand chamber was filled with feelings of respect, love, and togetherness. It showed the strength of family bonds and the power of destiny. While the outside world might not know the details, within the palace walls, the Kuru dynasty was welcoming Karna, the child of destiny, as one of their own.
Kripacharya stepped forward and began the sacred chants and rituals that would officially make Karna a part of the family.
Gandhari and Dhritarashtra listened closely, holding Karna with love and devotion. They were ready to fully embrace their roles as parents, giving Karna the love, care, and guidance that every child deserves.
As the final verses were recited, the bond between Karna and his new parents was sealed.
Kripacharya, with a voice filled with tradition and devotion, declared, "By the grace of Suryadev, we officially welcome Karna as a beloved member of this royal family."
Gandhari whispered the name they had chosen for their child, "Let his name be Aditya."
At that moment, Karna, now named Aditya, rested in the arms of his loving parents, Gandhari and Dhritarashtra. The secret adoption was complete, and the Kuru dynasty had fully embraced the child of destiny as their own.
As the ceremony ended, Bhishma, stepped forward to speak. His voice carried the hope for a bright future as he said, "Let it be known that Aditya, born of divine blessings of Suryadev, is now a cherished member of the royal family of Hastinapur."
With these words, Bhishma concluded the ceremony. The gathered royals exchanged looks of approval, recognizing the importance of what had just happened. Aditya was now truly part of their family.
In their hearts, they knew it was time to introduce Aditya to the people of Hastinapur, marking the start of a new chapter for their kingdom.
---------------------------------------------------------
The royal family of Hastinapur and Gandhara, including Gandhari, Dritharashtra, and the newly adopted Aditya, made their way outside the grand palace, where a vast crowd had already gathered. The people of the kingdom awaited this moment with bated breath, their faces filled with anticipation.
Dritharashtra, his sightless eyes filled with pride, stood beside Gandhari, who cradled Aditya in her arms.
Dritharashtra addressed the gathered crowd, "PEOPLE OF HASTINAPUR, TODAY WE INTRODUCE TO YOU OUR ELDEST SON, ADITYA. HE IS NOT JUST A PRINCE OF OUR KINGDOM, HE IS ALSO A SURYAPUTRA, A BLESSING BESTOWED UPON US BY SURYADEV."
The crowd erupted into joyous applause, their cheers and well-wishes filling the air. Aditya, with his divine radiance and the love of his parents and the people, stood as a symbol of hope and unity for the entire kingdom.
Gandhari, her eyes filled with pride and affection, added, "WE INVITE YOU ALL TO EMBRACE HIM AS YOUR PRINCE, FOR HE SHALL LEAD OUR KINGDOM INTO A FUTURE FILLED WITH PROSPERITY AND HONOR."
"People of Hastinapur," Bhishma announced, "on this auspicious day, as we celebrate the addition of Aditya to our royal family, it is our honor to share this joy with each one of you. We will distribute gold and clothing to every citizen of our kingdom." His words were met with resounding cheers and expressions of gratitude from the people.
The celebration continued, marked by heartfelt blessings and joyous festivities, as Hastinapur embraced the dawn of a new era with Aditya as its beloved prince. The people of Hastinapur welcomed Aditya with open hearts, celebrating for a brighter future under the guidance of their cherished prince.
Amid the festivities, the people of Hastinapur couldn't contain their joyous admiration as they gazed upon Aditya's radiant countenance. Whispers of awe and heartfelt appreciation echoed through the crowd.
"He's like the very sun itself," one person marveled, their voice filled with wonder. "Those kundals adorning him," they continued, nodding towards Aditya's ears, "they radiate a celestial glow."
Another nodded in agreement, their tone filled with joyful fascination. "Indeed," they chimed in, "Look at how those kundals shine; it's as if the gods themselves have bestowed their blessings upon our Rajkumar Aditya."
The delighted murmurs and blessings of the people reached the ears of the royal family. As the people continued to praise Aditya, Dritharashtra and Gandhari wore contented smiles on their faces, their hearts brimming with happiness and gratitude. The heartfelt admiration for their son filled them with an indescribable sense of pride.
Amidst the crowd's adoration and their own elation, Dritharashtra and Gandhari knew that this day marked the beginning of a journey filled with hope, love, and destiny of Aditya, the radiant prince of Hastinapur.
---------------------------------------------------------
Bhishma, his gaze softening as he looked at the radiant Aditya, replied, "Mata, now, Karna has come into our family. I believe it would be best if everyone, especially Dritharashtra, Pandu, and Vidur, spend time with him and bond. It will strengthen the unity of our dynasty."
Satyavati nodded in agreement, understanding the importance of family bonds in the kingdom's stability. "You are right, Bhishma," she said. "Let us give responsibilities to Pandu, Vidur, and Dritharashtra. By managing certain aspects of the kingdom, they can learn valuable lessons, and it will also free them from the burdens of immediate rule, allowing them to bond with Aditya."
Bhishma smiled, appreciating Satyavati's wisdom. "It is settled then. Together, we shall guide our family and our kingdom toward a harmonious future, ensuring that Aditya grows not only as a prince but as a beloved member of our family."
With this understanding, Bhishma, with a solemn demeanor, addressed Dritharashtra, Pandu, and Vidur, saying, "For now, you will collectively manage various aspects of the kingdom, learning the intricacies of rule and governance together, as a united front."
They all agreed to this arrangement, recognizing the wisdom in this decision. The matter of selecting the next king would be deliberated upon at a later time.
