In the hospital room, the doctors and nurses were trying her best to save the patient but after 2 minutes, they had to face reality, the young woman was dead. She was killed , without anyone notice anything. Outside, her daughter had stopped yelling her mother's name. Dante had, once again, used one of his technic to make her loose conscious. She was debating so much to see her mother; he couldn't think about anything else beside that solution. He was holding her against him tightly. He sat on the bench and called his father. His tone was not as assured as usual.

Salvatore: Dante? I'm still in the meeting.

Dante: Dad... something happened... at the hospital...

Salvatore: Is it Suki? You didn't do something to her, right? Dante?

Dante: Fumiko... you have to come now!

Salvatore: What's wrong with Fumiko? Where is Suki?

Dante: She is with me! But fu**, Fumiko is dead! She is dead!

Everyone stared at Salvatore in the meeting room when he abruptly stood up. Gabriel copied his father, feeling that something happened.

Salvatore: How... no...

Dante: Come here!

Dante cut the call and closed his eyes few seconds. No matter the situation, his anger toward his father, toward that woman and that little girl, he was touched by what was happening. Most of the time, he was heartless, but one of his weak point was the link between a mother and a child. He knew exactly the pain of loosing a mother and he never wanted that to happen to Suki, even if he didn't want to have anything to do with her. Even more in that type of circumstance. It was a scene of a horror movie that will mark the little girl for the rest of her life. One of the doctor stopped in front of him.

Doctor: Sir, sorry, we couldn't do anything. She is her daughter? Did she faint because of the shock?

Dante: How... how could this happen?

Doctor: The police is coming... I don't know what else to say, sorry.

The doctor gave some space to Dante and Suki. He asked a nurse to check on the little girl state, but Dante told her that she would be necessary when she will wake up, not now.

On Salvatore and Gabriel side, the head of the family was livid. After Dante cut the call, he needed few seconds to find back his mind. He excused himself toward his business partners and asked Gabriel to follow him.

Gabriel: Father, what's wrong? Dante did something to Suki?

Salvatore: Fumiko... Fumiko is dead... how...

Gabriel: What about Suki? Where is Dante? What happened?

Salvatore: I... I don't know... he just told me that and to come to the hospital... What the fu** hell happened?!

Gabriel: Let's go.

Gabriel was shocked too by the news, but his father was even more touched. The eldest son called their driver on their way to the parking. During the drive, Gabriel asked one of his men to investigate.

At the hospital, the police was the first one to arrive. They sealed the room and began their investigation. They interrogated the doctors, the nurse, the security guard and then Dante. The young man said that they just arrived few minutes ago and discovered Fumiko. They didn't touch anything and immediately left the room before the medical staffs entered. They asked his relationship with the victim, and he explained that they were relatives.

Police Officer: Do you know someone who could have done this?

Dante: No.

Police Officer: We will continue our investigation; please stay available in case we have more questions. We will also keep you update by the evolution of the case. Once again, sorry for your loss.

Dante nodded and kept an impassible face during his exchange with the policeman. He knew that his father would do his own investigation and after cutting the call with him, Dante had texted his younger brother, Enzo, to ask him to hack the CCTV of the hospital.

Few minutes later, the two mafia men arrived at the VIP floor. They immediately noticed the policemen, the sealed room and the shocked face of most of the medical staffs.

Salvatore: Dante... what happened? How is Suki doing? (He came closer, and Dante gave her the little girl.)

Dante: We found her dead in her bed... she was stabbed... several times... it was... the kid saw everything... she was panicking, so I had to calm her...

Salvatore: (He held Suki tight.) How is that possible?

Dante: I have no idea; she was probably dead since long before we arrived. I asked Enzo to retrieve the CCTV. A nurse can help with her when she will wake up... It was really creepy inside.

Gabriel went near the room and when he was sure that no one looked at him, he entered inside. He needed to see everything by himself, and his brother was right, it was a carnage. He closed his eyes a minute by respect for the mother of his little sister. It was not fair... she was so young.

Gabriel promised himself to find who was responsible of that murder. Fumiko had a long life ahead of her, but someone decided otherwise. Why? What did that little woman do to deserve a painful death like that? Dante entered the room too.

Dante: The cops are not far... do you think that she tried to resist?

Gabriel: She has defensive wounds... and there is fingers marks around her mouth... she must have suffered a lot... Suki really saw all of this?

Dante: Yes... I took her out as soon as I understood the situation, but it was too late. Enzo must have found the CCTV now.

Gabriel: Thanks...

Dante: I didn't do anything.

Gabriel: You were there for her...

Dante: It doesn't change anything, the last image of her mother that she would have, is this one.

Taking the time to observe the scene, Dante felt even more furious.

In the corridor, two bodyguards of Salvatore were waiting near the elevator. A police officer came to talk with the head of the family and Salvatore asked a lot of questions than the man in uniform couldn't answer. Gabriel and Dante were back and when Salvatore wanted to handed Suki to his son to see Fumiko, Gabriel stopped him.

Gabriel: Father, it's useless to see her in that state. For now, Suki is the priority. She will need you more than anything...

Salvatore: Gabriel... I need to see her... so please, keep an eye on her for me... I won't be long. (He put Suki in Gabriel's arms.)

Dante: Why does he want to inflict this to himself?

Gabriel: Maybe to be able to understand her, to know how to deal with what she saw... to say goodbye to someone he had a daughter with...

Dante: Funerals are done for that! It's stupid, it will just hurt him.

Dante left to talk with the bodyguards and just after, one of them disappeared. Gabriel was still holding Suki, afraid that she woke up in his arms and that she will have to face the sad reality.

In the room, Salvatore had difficulties to admit that Fumiko was really dead, that she was murdered savagely, without hesitation. He wanted to touch her hand but stopped himself. There was blood everywhere. The mafia boss made the same constatations than his son but also the same promise, to tract the ones responsible and kill them.

He didn't stay too long in the room to not attract useless attention. He joined his children and few minutes later, the director of the hospital arrived, followed by some of his employees. He exchanged with the Smith before the police officers asked to talk to him. Then two men from the morgue came to take Fumiko's body.

Gabriel: We can't do anything here; we should leave before Suki woke up. A nurse gave me medicines, just in case. We can organize proper funerals when the cops finish their investigation.

Salvatore: (He stared at Suki in Gabriel's arms.) She will be devastated.

Gabriel: We will find out who did that and avenge her, but as I said, the priority is Suki, she lost the only family she ever knew.

Salvatore let Suki in her brother's arms and the three men left the hospital. In their way home, Salvatore asked his assistant to follow up the police investigation and to contact the morgue to know when they could organize the funerals. He also asked a team to clean Fumiko's apartment, to bring her stuffs to the house. It could help him to find clues about why she was targeted, and her daughter would probably want to keep them anyway.

Dante was following in his own car, and he took that time alone to call Enzo, to know what he could had learn from the CCTV. Unfortunately, the young man didn't know the reason for this request and didn't start to work on it.

Dante: Fu** Enzo, I asked you to do it, so do it!

Enzo: Calm down bro... I was in class. I just got home... I will check it now... what's the emergency?

Dante: That kid's mother is dead!

Enzo: What? It's a bad joke! How... did she see her? Suki?

The two brothers cut the call and Enzo immediately hacked the hospital to retrieve the CCTV. He also hacked the buildings around; in case something can be useful.

In the second car, things were not going so well. Suki had woken up and she was having a panic attack, crying to see her mother. Gabriel was doing his best to calm her, keeping her in his arms, hugging her, trying to comfort that little human, not exactly knowing what to do or what to say.

Salvatore felt powerless. If only he could change what happened. And unexpectantly, after crying with all her soul out, she calmed herself when the car stopped in the propriety. But it was not a reassuring sign because he also noticed that her eyes seemed to have lost hope in life. She didn't move an inch when a man opened the door.

Salvatore: Suki... Suki... (She slowly looked at him.) I know that everything seems unreal, and I can't imagine the pain that you are feeling... but we are here for you. You are not alone; you will never be.

Gabriel: Let's go inside. (He kept her in his arms and got out.)

Dante parked the car and he saw his brother carrying the little girl like a lifeless doll into the house. He had a pang in his heart.

Inside the house, Vito and Davide were in the living room, eating snacks and laughing about a video they were watching. They were not aware of what happened, and Davide made a comment when he saw his father and brothers entering with Suki.

Davide: She is still here? When are you sending her back to her mother...

Vito: Yeah, tell us... so we can plan a party to celebrate!

Dante looked down at his younger brothers' words. He couldn't blame them for their behaviors but at that precise moment, he felt sorry. Salvatore was fuming and Gabriel had stopped, anger emanating from every pores of his body.

Suki flinched at the evocation of her mother and silent tears escaped. Gabriel tightened his grip as to reassure her that he was there for her. Then he went upstairs, without a word, letting his father dealing with his brothers.

Salvatore: Shut the fu** up! (He covered his face with his hand.)

Gianni: (He entered, coming from the kitchen.) Eh, what's going on?

Dante: Fumiko Tanaka, she was murdered at the hospital.

Silence took place in the living-room for long seconds. Salvatore was containing the rage he felt since he received the call from his son.

Salvatore: Your little sister lost her mother. Can you at least show some respect?

Vito: So, what will you do with her now? You don't think about keeping her here with us, right?

Salvatore: She is my daughter, your sister! I will not abandon her!

Davide: You maybe accepted her as your daughter, but she is not our sister. Don't expect anything from us.

Gianni: Are you sure that it's the best for her to stay in this house?

Salvatore: What do you mean?

Gianni: Our family business is not the safest for a little girl.

Salvatore: I can protect her; I can give her a good life.

Vito: Great... you want a little princess to spoil, even if it means that your sons have to see the fruit of your mistake every days!

Salvatore: You are not in my position; you can not understand what a father feels. Having that discussion now is useless!

Salvatore crossed the living room, then the garden, to go to his office. Enzo entered the main room with his tablet in his hand.

Dante: Enzo, you've got the CCTV?

Enzo: Yes... not sure it will help, there is not CCTV in the room... but I also hacked the police department network, to have a copy of their photos and investigations.

Dante: Did you look at them?

Enzo: Not in details... (His gaze changed.)

Dante: But you saw the photos of that woman's body, right? (He nodded.) Why did you take a look? I only asked you to get the CCTV for me, not to put your nose in that mess!

Gianni: Eh Dante, calm down.

Enzo: That kid saw her mother like that? It really sucks...

Gianni was curious about those photos that was making his brothers react like that. He grabbed Enzo's tablet and started to look at what he found. He saw the photos taken by the police officers. He saw the blood everywhere and the dead body of that woman, that had several knife wounds on her upper body. It was the first time that he saw her and noticed her beauty. Her daughter looked a lot like her.

Gianni: The person who did that didn't let her a chance to survive.

Dante: (He grabbed the tablet.) Give that to me. Dad is waiting for the recordings. (He left to the garden house.)

Davide: Dante is getting softer for that bi** and her kid.

Enzo: Bro, don't be an asshole... she is dead, and I can assure you that if it was your mother who had been killed like that and that you had seen her in that state, you would not react like that!

Davide : Don't lecture me!

Enzo: Then stop being heartless! You wouldn't react so negatively for someone you don't know, but just because it's her...

Gianni: Stop, both of you! Fighting is not going to change anything!

Upstairs, Gabriel went to his bedroom instead of the guest room. He didn't want to let the little girl in that unfamiliar room, alone. He delicately put her on the bed, but she didn't react. Only few tears continued to fall from her beautiful eyes. He sat near her.

Gabriel: Suki... Look at me. (She didn't move.) Please... I know that you think that your world just collapsed... and that you feel devastated and alone but, even if we can not replace your mother's place, we are here for you. We won't abandon you; we are your family. (He touched her chin to make her look at him.) Suki...

Suki: ... (She looked at him with expressionless eyes.)

Gabriel: Did you hear me? (She nodded.) You should take a shower and rest a bit; I'm going to bring your clothes here. You can find everything you need in my bathroom.

Gabriel stood up but Suki didn't move. She was looking at her trembling hands. He kneeled down to her level and touched them, she flinched.

Gabriel: Suki... I know it's hard... all of this is not fair... I am sorry...

Suki didn't reply to him, and Gabriel sighed. He didn't like to see her like that, even if he understood her distress. He quickly left the room to grab her clothes. He took few seconds in the corridor to calm himself and think. Think quickly at the best way to show her his support. To not let her slowly slide into darkness.

When he entered back in his room, she was still there, in the same state, same position. Gabriel put down the clothes in his bathroom, took out a clean towel, then went back to his room. He took Suki's hand and made her stand up to go to the bathroom.

Gabriel: Suki... A shower will help you to relax. Take your time, I wait for you here. Okay?

She let go of his hand without a word or a gaze. She was doing what Gabriel asked, like an obedient kid, but her mind and heart were closed. She had stop talking since she yelled her mother's name in the car. Words were stuck in her throat. It was too painful to speak.

The little girl didn't stay long under the shower. She wore the clothes that Gabriel brought to her and went back to the bedroom, her black hair still wet. Gabriel went into the bathroom, grabbed a new towel and started to delicately pat the little girl's head.

Gabriel: Sorry, I don't have a hair dryer... do you want to eat something? Or something to drink? Tea? Milk? (She didn't react.) Or rest? (She nodded.) Okay, when your hair are done, you can lay in my bed and try to sleep.

Gabriel couldn't make her say a word. He finished to dry her hair and she laid down on his king size bed. She was looking at the nightstand, where a family photo was exposed. Salvatore looked younger and he was wearing a bright smile next to a woman carrying a young boy, probably Vito. The twins were held by the two tallest boy. She recognized Gabriel by his eyes and the other one must be Dante. The last one should be Gianni. He was wearing a white t-shirt, and no trace of his numerous tattoos or big muscles.

Gabriel noticed where the little girl gaze was stuck. He took out of his jacket inner pocket his wallet and inside, there was the photo of Suki baby, that he took when they stopped at her apartment. He placed the photo near the family one, hoping to have a reaction from her but nothing.

Gabriel: I took the liberty to take that photo, I hope that it's okay for you... you were a very cute baby... and you are a very beautiful little girl now... (She didn't say anything.) Suki, I have to see Father, but I will not be long. Try to sleep and if you need something, just call me. (He took her phone from her bag and put it on the nightstand.) You are a strong girl...

The young man put the blanket on his little sister and left in silence. As soon as the door was closed, Suki let her tears flow down once again. Gabriel crossed the living room, and the ambiance was clearly heavy between the twins. He didn't try to understand the problem and went out. Gianni followed him to their father's office.

Salvatore: Gabriel, how is Suki doing?

Gabriel: Not good... she will need time to accept what happened and her new life. Did you have the CCTV? Is there something that we can exploit?

Dante: There is a lot of Data to check, it's going to take time. We can only see two men in black entering her room and leaving after 2 minutes. They were wearing masks, nothing unusual now. I will ask some men to analyze everything in detail.

Salvatore: Thank you, Dante. Your help is really appreciated. (He paused.) I need to rearrange one of the room for Suki, what else does she need? And for her school...

Gabriel: Father, let's not rush things. We can ask someone to rearrange a room adapt to a kid tomorrow and when we will receive her stuffs from her old apartment, we can see what she will need. For the school, it's maybe better that she continues to go to her current school, to avoid another change in her life.

Salvatore nodded. Dante was silently listening, just like Gianni.

Salvatore: Gianni, I know that you are not accepting Suki yet, just like you Dante, but you are both grown men, so I count on you to give her a chance, to not reject her. I understand yours and your younger brothers' anger, but that child is innocent. She doesn't deserve to be mistreat, even more now that she lost her mother.

Dante: I will do my job, as always, and for that kid, if she doesn't piss me off, I will not do anything to her.

Gianni: Same for me. I don't really care about her. You can keep her in our house or send her to a relative, it's not my business. She is just a stranger.

Gabriel: I'm going back near her. Keep me update by message.

Gabriel went back inside; he was not happy about his brothers' way of thinking.. He found Enzo in the corridor, in front of the guest room.

Gabriel: Enzo, what are you doing here?

Enzo: I wanted to see her... she is not in her room.

Gabriel: I let her in mine. Why do you want to see her?

Enzo: Just... to see how she is doing. (Gabriel stared at him with suspicion.) Gab... I saw the photos of her mother...

Gabriel: She is probably asleep now, but if you want to show her your support, I am sure that you will have plenty of time and occasion to do it later. You should grab something to eat and rest.

Gabriel patted his younger brother's shoulder and went to his bedroom. He entered in silence and checked on the little girl. She had her eyes closed with traces of tears visible on the red pillow.

He took off his jacket, put his gun in the drawer of his desk, and opened his laptop. He sent an email to Zhang's assistant. He wanted to retrieve the CCTV of the bar where Fumiko worked. Now that someone killed her on her bed hospital, he thought that maybe, she was the mean target of the attack at the club.

In less than 25 minutes, he received a text message asking him to check his mailbox. The video was there. He download it and watched it. For him, it was clear, the scene playing on the screen was targeting her.

Gabriel was reviewing once again the video when he heard a sniff. He turned himself to see the little girl sweating, sitting on the bed, crying. She probably had a nightmare. He stood up and came closer.

Gabriel: Suki... you had a nightmare? (She didn't answer him and wiped her tears with her sleeve.) Let me... (She flinched.)... eh... don't be afraid of me, no one will hurt you, it's okay, it's me... Gabriel... breathe... slowly... that's great...

Gabriel succeed to calm the little girl, but he also felt that it will be hard for him to gain her trust. He proposed a bottle of water to the little girl. She took a sip and laid down once again. Her brother covered her with the blanket and sat at his desk. When he saw Suki back to her sleep, he took his laptop and left the bedroom.

He went downstairs and some of his brothers were having dinner. He didn't stop and went to his father's office. He needed to talk to him about what he found out about the attack at the club.
