"That's the one!" I pointed at the class Rivo and Santo showed me earlier.
Nyla and I walked aimlessly around the school, talking and laughing. I learned that she moved here a month ago with her mother and her fourteen years old sister, who goes to this school as well.
"Wait, I'm nervous." she suddenly called, stopping me from opening the door. I looked at her confused. "Why?"
"I'm an awkward person." She bit her lip, trying not to laugh. "Especially when I don't know anyone."
"Well, you know me." I suggested, giving her a small smile. Nyla is actually pretty cool, and I kinda like her.
"Yeah, you're right." She nodded with a newfound determination. "I know you, and I'm an independent woman who can walk through that door and not give a fuck."
I laughed and nudged her playfully. "Not a single fuck." After she gave me an approving nod, I opened the door.
Twenty-something pairs of eyes landed on us, and I wanted desperately to smack each and every one of them. I need to breath, I have the whole day to get detention. No rush.
"Hello, ma'am. We're sorry for being late, we're new." Nyla stepped forward, giving the teacher a small smile.
"It's alright, dear. Why won't you go sit down?" She returned her smile and gestured for the free sits in the back.
Okay, okay, so Nyla was good at being nice to people. That's good, definitely a quality that I lack.
Nyla pulled me by my arm, making me stop glaring at everyone in this class. What the hell is their problem? Never saw new students?
"Stop doing that weird thing with your face." She whispered with an amused look, leading us to our seats.
"I'm gonna rip their eyes off their faces, and then I'll make them eat it." I muttered while narrowing my eyes at anyone who kept looking at us, even though the teacher began talking.
"We're pretty, of course they'll stare." she smiled teasingly, and I found myself chuckling.
"... I expect you to write down everything I say, because eventually you'll need it for your tests, understood?" The teacher asked, and a few students responded.
I guess I can try to be on my best behavior.

"Sit down!" My physics teacher yelled at me. She was red in the face, looking at me with nothing but anger.
Her gray hair was tied in a tight bun, and everything about her screamed uptight. For the entire lesson, the class was dead silent, not wanting to cross her and make her... Well, I didn't really know what she'll do.
But now? Now I guess I get to find out.
"But you don't listen!" I returned, clutching my fists at my side. "I keep telling you that it had nothing to do with you! I fell asleep because I was tired, not because you're a shit teacher."
The class snickered, looking back and forth between us. Someone even tried to tell me that it's not worth it, but fuck that.
"Go to the principal's office, now!" she screamed, and her face turned even redder.
Fucking finally. I grabbed my bag, which was my pillow up until five minutes ago, and made my way to the front of the class.
Every kid was looking at me, some with hidden smirks and some simply trying to understand what the hell just happened.
I mean, it did happen fast. One moment I was listening to a boring explanation, and then I was woken up from a hand that crashed against my desk.
I didn't even realize I fell asleep. Maybe that's because Nyla wasn't in that class and couldn't shake me awake every ten seconds.
But what's the big deal? It wasn't like I interrupted her or anything. Back at my old school, the teachers actually praised you for not falling asleep.
Shit, am I actually going to learn in this school?
"I'm sorry." I said the moment I stepped in front of her. She gave me a tight smile, like she knew I'll eventually come crawling back for mercy. "I don't care, child. Go to-"
"I'm sorry that I lied, you are a shit teacher." I cut her off, and with nothing more than a glance back, I left the room.
I could hear some laughs, but I truly didn't give a shit. Alessandro said I could choose physics or biology, and look at that. I guess I made my choice.
I took my phone out of my bag, texting both Theo and Ares. This is the third period, and I still have no idea where they are. Maybe that's part of the reason for my irritation.
Just as I was about to hit send, a body crashed onto me. "Watch it, blondie." a deep voice said, making me look up immediately.
It took me a few seconds to regain my posture, but Goddammit, those seconds were enough to understand I just crashed into the most handsome man I've ever seen.
His body was as solid as a brick. One big arm came to fix his leather jacket, while the other brushed through his hair. He looked down at me for nothing more than a second, clear annoyance in his dark brown eyes.
Holy shit, I- Did he just call me blondie? I watched as he moved past me, not even sparing me a second thought.
"Hey, asshole!" I called back, the anger from my last class was yet to fade. He might be drop dead gorgeous, but I've had it with jerks.
He stopped for a moment, looking at me over his shoulder with a raised eyebrow. I don't know if it was my anger fooling me, but he actually seemed surprised.
"In case you haven't noticed, this hallway is fucking empty." I waved my hands around, listening to the faint voices from the classes. We were the only ones here.
"I was very clearly on my phone. All you had to do was walk around me, so why won't you watch it?" I crossed my arms on my chest, waiting to see what his reaction will be like.
He turned to fully face me, giving me a proper look of himself. He wore the same outfit as anybody here, but the tie was missing.
His white shirt was unbuttoned at the top, and a rugged leather jacket on top of it. I'm sure my face had the same scowl he had, so I wasn't surprised when he pinched the bridge of his nose. I'm annoyed too.
"Do we have a problem?"
I was taken aback. Not by his harsh tone or the glare he sent my way, but by his words.
I stared at him, mouth slightly opened. By the look on his face, I could tell he thought that meant I had no intention to actually hold my ground.
Just when he was about to turn around, I opened my mouth again. "Let me get this straight." I held my hand in front of me. "You crashed into me, told me to 'watch it' when it was actually your fault, and you ask if we have a problem?"
I was tilting my head to the side, smiling with disbelief. What the fuck is wrong with people in this school?
He stayed silent, looking at me as if sizing me up. For a heart stopping moment when our eyes connected, I thought he was going to say something, but then he just shook his head like he couldn't believe he's wasting his time on me, and simply walked away.
I followed his broad back with my eyes down the hallway, until he finally took a turn and disappeared.
I rolled my eyes and turned away, remembering why I'm here in the first place. Where the hell is the principal's office?
I know the secretary's office is right outside of it, but I have absolutely no idea on how to find it.
I wandered for a while until I found another student by one of the lockers. She gave me the directions, and guess what? It's the exact same direction I was originally going.
Just the opposite.
It was almost the end of the period when I got there, meaning I'll have to miss Art, the only class on today's schedule I didn't hate.
But that's not the worst thing. You see, right in front of the principal's door were two couches, I guess to make the wait a little less uncomfortable.
And the very same handsome jerk from before was sitting on one of them.
Chapter 27!
Heyyy, so I didn't update for a week as some of you noticed. I was burned out and couldn't find the strength to write, but I'm hoping that's behind me!
Over that week we reached more the 1.1k votes and almost 40k reads. That's insane.
I love you so muchhh and it's basically the middle of the night in my country but I just couldn't hold back this chapter!
Hopefully, see you soon:)
