The soft sunlight streamed through the cracks in the dormitory curtains, rousing Evie from her sleep. She stretched, groggily getting out of bed, still feeling the warmth of the previous day's lessons with Sol and Seth. After brushing her teeth and freshening up, she walked towards the door, ready to start a new day.
As she opened the door, she was met with an unexpected sight. There, in front of her dorm, stood Sol and Seth, their heads bent close together in what appeared to be a serious conversation. The sight of them sent a flush of heat to Evie's cheeks. Sol's muscular frame loomed over Seth's, making it impossible to ignore how both men were undeniably strong. Sol's bulky body moved with a slow grace, while Seth, with his toned build, seemed to carry a sense of calculated power in every movement.
Evie couldn't help herself. Her gaze lingered on them, taking in the sheer presence they both commanded. Sol's posture was broad and imposing, whereas Seth's physique was lean but strong—just the right balance of strength and agility. When both of them noticed her staring, their expressions shifted. They smirked at her in unison, making her heart skip a beat.
She felt heat flood her cheeks as her embarrassment overtook her. They weren't subtle about it either.
"Like what you see, Sunshine?" Seth teased, his voice light and playful, yet laced with a certain charm that made her pulse race.
Evie stammered, her face flushing even more. "I—I wasn't... I mean, I wasn't staring!"
Sol chuckled, stepping forward, his voice low and teasing, "You know, Blossom, it's not polite to stare, but if you need some eye candy in the morning, we'll allow it."
Evie muttered a quiet "Sorry," but both princes simply smirked at her as if her embarrassment entertained them.
"We're here to escort you to the training session," Seth said, his smirk never fading. "You don't need to worry about waking up early for us. We'll handle everything."
She tried to play it off. "Really, I'm fine. You don't need to wake up so early just for me."
Sol leaned in close, his voice low and intimate, "Don't be silly, Blossom. You know we wouldn't have it any other way. We're your guardians, remember?"
Evie's heart fluttered at his words, but she wasn't sure if it was because of his proximity or the way he made her feel protected.
Seth added with a soft chuckle, "You're too stubborn for your own good, Sunshine. But we'll make sure you don't wander off."
With that, both of them walked beside her, and she couldn't help but notice how their close presence made her heart race. They had this effortless chemistry that drew her in. Soon, they reached the training room.
Evie had expected to see only Duke, but when she walked in, she froze. Rowan was standing there too, his posture tense, his arms crossed as he watched her enter.
Sol immediately spoke, explaining, "Rowan and Duke's elements are opposites—Fire and Water. So in case anything goes wrong with either of their sessions, they balance each other out. If something happens with Duke's training, Rowan handles it with Fire. And if it's with Rowan, Duke can handle it with Water."
Evie looked between them, trying to digest the information. The idea of being surrounded by the intensity of both Fire and Water made her nervous. She couldn't help but smile a little at the thought of them working together.
A worried frown appeared on her face, and she looked to Seth, her voice barely above a whisper. "What if something happens, though?"
Seth crouched in front of her, his hand resting gently on her arm. "Don't worry, Blossom. Rowan and Duke will call me if anything goes wrong, and I'll be there in a heartbeat."
Sol gave her a reassuring nod. "And we'll be right here. Always."
Evie felt a sense of calm wash over her. Despite the unease, their presence steadied her.
With that, Seth and Sol gave her one last smile before they stepped out, leaving her with Rowan and Duke for her session.
The first part of the training began with Duke, who immediately made the atmosphere lighter. "Alright, Little Wave," he said with a grin, calling her by the nickname that felt strangely comforting, "Let's have some fun today. We'll start with something easy."
He showed her how to manipulate water in playful ways, his voice full of encouragement. He didn't rush her, making her laugh at the small mistakes she made. His warmth was infectious, and soon she felt at ease, enjoying the session more than she had anticipated. She felt like a weight had been lifted from her chest with each drop of water she controlled.
At one point, Duke stepped closer to her as they worked together on her control. Their faces were dangerously close as he helped guide her movements, his hand just inches from hers. The air between them felt charged with something unspoken.
Evie's breath hitched as their eyes locked. It was a moment of pure tension, the kind that sent a thrill down her spine. And then, before anything could happen, a loud noise broke the spell—Rowan dropped his sword on the floor, the sound jarring them both back to reality.
Duke stepped back, rolling his eyes. "Always ruining the fun, Fireboy."
Rowan smirked, his arms still crossed. "Focus on your training, Duke. You're here to teach her, not flirt."
Duke huffed and looked at Evie with a teasing smile. "Don't worry, Little Wave. You're safe with me."
But as he stepped away, Evie couldn't ignore the growing feeling of attraction between them. Her heart still raced, the moment lingering in her thoughts.
Rowan, on the other hand, sat back, his gaze sharp as he observed. "You're going too soft on her," he muttered under his breath, as though she wasn't even there. "The real world isn't kind. She needs to be pushed harder."
Duke, who had been watching Evie, growled in disagreement. "She's doing fine, Rowan. Why don't you lay off her for a bit?"
Evie could sense the tension between them, the way their protective instincts clashed. But she knew they meant well, even if their methods were different. "It's okay," she said softly, meeting Rowan's gaze. "I need to be prepared for whatever comes."
As Duke continued his fun session, Rowan watched silently, his jaw clenched. The atmosphere was thick with the kind of intensity that only he could bring to the training room.
After a while, Duke's phone rang. His eyes flickered to the screen, and he sighed. "It's Seth. He says all the princes are called to report to the headmistress."
He turned to Rowan. "I'll go. You can keep working with Evie."
Rowan didn't look at him. "Fine. She's in my hands now."
Duke hesitated but eventually gave a reluctant nod. "You better not push her too hard, Fireboy."
Evie watched Duke leave, and Rowan turned back to her, his fiery gaze unwavering. "Time to get serious." ______________________________
