The group all froze when they saw what was happening.
"Is he being bullied?" asked Ashlyn.
Taylor said, "It's him again," as she glared at the taller figure in the distance, known as Barron.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm on it," Tyler started heading over to the scene. "Barron. What are you doing?"
Y/N could feel her heart racing, and she didn't even realize she was clenching her fists. Her fists turned red from how hard she was squeezing them. Ben was on the girl's right with Aiden standing beside him. This indescribable feeling within her only intensified as she watched everything unfold. Y/N glared at Barron from afar as she saw him hurting Logan, clearly upsetting some people.
Even though she wasn't close to Logan, she couldn't just ignore the situation. This was the first time she had felt such intense anger, and she felt compelled to take action.
Ben and Y/N were staring at the scene in front of them, both filled with anger. Normally, she wouldn't get involved in this kind of situation, but something inside her told her she couldn't just ignore it. She had never felt so upset before, and it was a strange feeling for her. She usually didn't act on her emotions like this, but in that moment, she felt like she had to. It was like a wave of anger she had never experienced before.
Aiden glanced over at Ben, whose face was twisted in anger. Panicking, Aiden quickly stepped in front of him, trying to block his view and distract him.
"WOAH, hey bud. Calm down. The half-wit is handling it," he said nervously.
And then, out of the corner of his eye, he sees Y/N standing next to Ben, both radiating the same intense energy.
Aiden gulped. "Y/N, relax," he whispered. He had never seen her this angry, not even when he was teasing her. He felt uneasy. "It's okay, just don't look--"
As the girl's mind wandered, she found herself in a tough spot. She closed her eyes, trying to calm down and think things through. When she opened them, she saw Logan in trouble. Despite not being very close to him, she felt a strong urge to help him and protect him from harm.
Throughout their time together, Logan had always been kind and helpful. But seeing him in a vulnerable position stirred up a mix of emotions in the girl. She felt a surge of anger, not knowing exactly why she was feeling this way.
Barron asked, "Hey, Tyler, do you know this girl?" He looked at her and then at Tyler, who quickly glanced at him before focusing back on Y/N.
"Y/N, I can handle this," Tyler tried to calm Y/N down, not wanting things to get worse. He knew she was angry, but he didn't want any trouble.
Y/N didn't say anything and just kept glaring at him. She knew he was right, she didn't want to do anything she would regret later. Just the sight of this guy made her want to do something that she would regret. She felt herself caught up in her throat as it felt heavy, yet a bit dry and it was itching to say more.
"So calm down," Tyler said sternly, narrowing his eyes at her for her to listen to his command.
A sigh left the girl's lip as she then turned away from Barron to check up on Logan. Getting a look on his face, he was clearly tensed. However, as she took a closer look at his face, she noticed a bruise on him, which almost made her lose her temper. However, thinking about the situation and her actions, she closed her eyes, relaxing her thoughts as she needed some self-control.
'Calm down. Don't do anything rash, just focus on dealing with him,' was all she thought before lifting her gaze at Logan. "Are you okay?" Her eyes slowly softening as she placed a hand on his bruised cheek.
Logan was caught off guard by her actions, causing him to stumble over his words. He kept his head down, trying to hide his embarrassment. His cheeks turned red as he avoided making eye contact with her. Despite feeling relaxed, he couldn't help but wonder why she was being so nice to him, the generally question being: "Why was she going out of her way to help him?"
Even though with that question in mind, Logan didn't want to ruin the sweet moment they were sharing. He found comfort in her presence. Her hands were gentle and soothing, making him blush. This was a new experience for him, and he didn't want it to end. As he finally lifted his head, he saw the concern in her eyes. He could see the guilt and softness in her gaze, even though she tried to hide it.
"Logan, are you okay? It doesn't hurt, right?" Y/N was worried about him and wanted to make sure he was doing fine. (Come on, give the guy a break, you're making him blush!)
Logan stutters, "N-No, I'm okay... Thanks." His answer made Y/N feel better, so she decided to give him some space.
After a while passed, Barron had already left the group by the time Y/N looked over her shoulder. She internally thanked Tyler for stepping in and handling the situation, which pleased Y/N because if she saw Barron again, she might do something rash without thinking.
"You're seriously scared of him?" Tyler asked, looking at Y/N with his arms crossed. "After being around those things every night. Pathetic."
"Tyler! Not cool," Taylor said, quickly going to his side to check on him and placing a hand on his shoulder. "What was that about?" She asked Logan with worry.
He hesitated for a moment before admitting the reason. "I forgot to do his part of the project..."
Y/N scoffed at the excuse, "Damn, then... he must be so stupid that he couldn't comprehend a simple project that he even asked for Logan's help." She expressed no sympathy. "Honestly, how do you expect him to pass if he doesn't learn to do things on his own?"
Tyler ignored her comment. "How is he supposed to survive when he can't stand up for himself? Right now isn't the time to be soft." Y/N got abit irritated by Tyler's attitude towards Logan, even though he was correct, he didn't have to express it in that manner.
"Tyler is right." Ashlyn said, "Though his way of saying it is uncalled for, Logan definitely need some strength training. We all do." Narrowing her eyes, she looked at Tyler. "That's why I'm thinking of asking my parents to teach us self-defense. They taught me some when I was younger, but I don't remember it enough to teach you guys on my own."
As the group chatted, Y/N found herself lost in her thoughts, thinking about the negative feelings she had towards Barron, which were unpleasant. She was confused by the sudden rush of emotions she was feeling. Barron's behavior around Logan made her wonder if she had attachment issues with Logan or the group as a whole. Maybe this could explain her impulsive actions, as she had never been so close to anyone other than her family. However, she found it difficult to believe that. Suddenly, she felt a slight headache and groaned, placing a hand on her head to try to ease the pain.
"Weren't you worried about us getting sent to an asylum or something?" He asked, "What are you gonna tell them when they asked why?"
"Yeah that's the reason I haven't asked them yet-" Ashlyn explains, "-but after what just happened, I think we can use Logan being bullied as an excuse. Something along the lines of him wanting to defend himself, and to be supportive, we're all going to learn with him."
"I think that sounds pretty believable." Taylor agreed.
"I guess." Tyler added. "Anyways where's the psycho and big guy??" He asked, wondering about Aiden and Ben's whereabouts.
"Oh- um... I think Ben started acting weird." She explained, her expression hinting with uncertainty. "Aiden said that they were going to the vending machine and would see us in class."
Logan, the brunette boy, was listening to the group conversation when he noticed Y/N. She had her head down, looking distressed with her hand on her head. Worried, he moved closer to comfort her but hesitated, afraid of startling her. Ultimately, he decided to give her some space to calm down. The others in the group noticed and turned their attention to them.
Taylor, feeling concerned, walked up to Y/N and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "Y/N, are you okay?" But she didn't reply.
Y/N, not thinking clearly, reacted by slapping Taylor's hand away and saying, "Don't touch me!"
Taylor was taken aback when Y/N slapped away their hand, causing Tyler to instinctively step forward to protect his sister. Y/N quickly realized her mistake and stepped back, as it was not her intention to react that way. While the group was talking, Y/N was going through a crisis that left her feeling frustrated, leading to her sudden reaction when someone touched her shoulder. Feeling overwhelmed, she took a few steps back from the group, creating distance as they looked at her in surprise. Embarrassed, she left without saying a word, and the group simply watched as she disappeared from the hall.
Y/N hurried to the girls' restroom, breathing heavily. She went to the sink to freshen up, splashing water on her face as she thought about what had just happened in the hallway. When she lifted her head, she gazed at her reflection in the mirror.
She asked herself, "Gosh, what is matter with me..."
Her emotions were quickly escalating, starting with anger. This sudden outburst occurred after she got a headache, causing her anger to intensify without a clear reason. This left her feeling confused as she couldn't understand why. However, her thoughts seemed to contradict this as she appeared to want to find out the reason herself.
'Could it be that I am starting to have anger issues? Maybe, but no... I just need to learn how to control my emotions better. It has been years since I properly expressed these types of emotions.' Y/N stared at her reflection, feeling like it was new to her - like she was reliving her own emotions she hadn't experienced in a long time.
"So why am I able to now?"
As she began to dwell on those topics, her mind unexpectedly wandered back to a painful memory from the past. After processing these thoughts, she closed her eyes briefly and a memory suddenly flashed in her mind, causing her to snap her eyes open. Even though it was a fleeting image, she instantly recognized it - her sick mother, who had cancer, lying in a hospital bed with a sad smile. This memory was heartbreaking for her to recall, and she wasn't sure why her mind chose to remember it at that moment. It only added to her sadness, as it was the last time she saw her mom.
