"Why, of course." I smiled back, hiding my internal freak out.
Okay, shit, Bloodwraith is here. That means someone is going to die.
There's no way she recognized me, right? I was wearing a ski mask last time and our encounter was only like a minute long. There's no way I'm her target...right...?
I took her hand and we walked onto the dance floor. We got into position and started to dance with everyone else, her eyes not leaving mine.
"Isn't this a fun coincidence?" She smiled. "I didn't expect to see you again so soon."
"You make it sound like it wasn't one." I replied. "And I think you're mistaking me for someone else."
She grinned in response. "No, I am sure I recognize you. You smell the same, though there is the scent of another woman this time."
Excuse me whaaaat.
"I still think you have the wrong person." I nervously chuckled.
"I know you were the one under the ski mask." She whispered, leaning in. "So what's the name, handsome?"
"Richard." I replied. "A happily married man."
She rolled her eyes. "I want the real name."
"I don't want to blow my cover." I whispered back. "And I'd rather not get umbrella'd tonight."
"Fair enough." She grinned. "Another time then, you incredible dancer."
"Oh please, praise me more." I winked. "Flattery will you get you everywhere."
"Good to know. I'll be keeping that in mind." She smirked.
What is going on? This train is going off the rails.
Please, my big mouth, shut up!
"You know, you're the first one to ever see my face and live." She stated.
"I'm sure I can't be the first..." I nervously chuckled.
"You are." She replied. "I think I'll find you quite interesting."
Oh, great! It was just pure luck!
I need to make sure this crazy lady doesn't follow me back and murder me in the middle of the night.
"And what makes me so interesting?" I asked.
"I'm just going to keep that to myself for now." She giggled. "You're awfully calm."
No. No I am not.
"Why wouldn't I be?" I smirked.
She blinked, staring at me for a moment before a grin grew across her face once more. "You're right. Why would you be?"
I don't like that...
The song came to an end as we finally stopped dancing. I gave her a bow as she curtsied in response. She winked at me, blowing me a kiss as she sauntered off. A person blocked my view of her, and then it was as if she had disappeared in that second.
Why do these things happen to me...
I guess my charm is simply irresistible!
As if.
Hey, who let you out? Get back inside you little shit.
"Master. Who was that?" A voice came from the earpiece.
"I'll explain after, Sophie." I replied. "But we should be fine. For now."
The doors to the room opened as a person walked in. I took a good look at him, and after a few seconds I was able to confirm who it was despite the masquerade mask.
"Honey, the host has arrived." I whispered.
A few seconds later a voice was heard back from the earpiece, different from Sophie's. "Honey, keep an eye on him. I am almost prepared."
I watched as Killian Stromford picked up a glass from a walking waiter, taking a sip to it and starting to talk to others. I made conversation with another person as I inconspicuously kept an eye on our target.
After a few minutes later I heard Mother Wasp's voice again. "Honey, has he done anything?"
"Honey, no he hasn't." I whispered. "Still talking with others."
"Honey, that's good." Mother Wasp replied. "Enjoy the show."
Enjoy the show?
And that's when I noticed it. A low buzzing was entering my ears. A buzzing that sounded like a swarm of familiar yellow and black insects. People started to take notice of the noise, looking around for the source of the noise.
And then, suddenly, thick clouds of bees and wasps flew into the room from the vents and started to swarm around one person. People screamed in terror as Mother Wasp was lifted into the air, sitting down with her legs crossed and a smirk across her face.
She now floated above everyone, being completely held up by the countless number of bees and wasps that swarmed underneath her.
Someone yanked the door open to try to escape, only to yelp and jump backwards as they realized the exit was flooded with another thick cloud of staining insects.
"Please, calm down everyone." Mother Wasp chuckled. "Trying to run through the swarm will be much worse than anything I'll do."
"Aurelia." Greeted Killian.
"It's been a while, dear old Stromford." Mother Wasp replied. "But it's Mother Wasp now. I'm no longer your little subject."
"Whatever you're doing, stop." Killian ordered with his stone cold face. "You were fired. You have to accept that."
"Fired?" Mother Wasp raised an eyebrow. "We both know it was more than that. You 'fired' me and I went 'missing', according to the public. But I'm thinking we reveal the truth."
"Stop spouting lies." Killian retorted.
"It's not lies now if I have proof, is it?" Mother Wasp replied, titling her head with a grin. "Proof of your little unethical studies. Proof that you forcibly used me as a test subject."
He...what?
Mother Wasp held an usb in her hand. "How would all do you like to learn the real truth? About what really happens inside his facilities?"
Before anyone could say anything something slammed into her, sending her crashing into the ground and the usb flying. Everyone started to panic once more.
Mother Wasp coughed, standing up and glaring at the person across from her. The man who had tackled her wore a suit which the back had burst, revealing two dragonfly wings.
He looked at her, titling his head with a maniacal look in his eyes. Mother Wasp cracked her knuckles, before pointing at him. Bees and wasps started to swarm him as people screamed in terror.
Where is that dang usb...?!
I watched as it was kicked around, flying from person to person. I followed it, pushing through people as I tried to get to it before someone broke it. It finally came to as stop at someone's feet. I went to grab it, only for them to pick it up first.
I looked up, seeing a man wearing a suit and sunglasses despite being inside. Suddenly, from the back of his suit burst four mechanical spider legs. He looked down at me, grinning and revealing his fangs.
"No, no, you can't take that, little one." Flycatcher chuckled. "He would not like that!"
"Oh great, it's you-" I was cut off as his foot slammed into me, sending me flying backwards.
"Master?" I heard Sophie's voice. "Master, I am on my way."
I crashed into someone, knocking us both to the ground. I looked down, freezing in horror as to who I had just trampled.
"This is the second time you've pushed me down." Bloodwraith smirked. "A little eager, aren't we?"
"Come here little one!" Flycatcher cried as he jumped at us.
I grabbed Bloodwraith, rolling us out of the way as Flycatcher crashed where we just were, slamming a spider leg into the ground.
Through the doors crashed another person, swarmed with bees and wasps. People screamed as the bugs flew away, revealing another man wearing a suit.
Or, could you really call this a man?
Because where a human head should've been was the giant head of a an ant. He staggered forwards, seemingly undamaged from all of those bees and wasps.
The exit that had been blocked by the bees and wasps was now free as people started to rush out of it, running away from the combatants. Killian rushed out with them without a single word.
Sophie crashed down from the ceiling, landing in the middle of the room. She immediately looked over to me, pausing as she saw a woman on top of me.
"Master-" She started to speak, only to get cut off as the ant person suddenly rushed her with a screech.
"You?!" It ear-piercingly screamed. Sophie wasn't ready, having been too focused on me. The ant man grabbed her arm, before with incredible strength chucking her and sending her flying.
Speeding like a bullet she slammed through the wall and outside of the room. The ant man quickly ran after her, releasing a stream of incomprehensible words.
"Even trying to get brownie points, I see." Bloodwraith grinned. "You're doing well."
"I'd love to flirt, but not the time!" I replied, pushing her off of me.
"Oh!" She gasped in surprise, falling onto her bottom. "Treat a lady with delicacy, won't you? It's not time to be rough yet."
I got up to my feet, barely dodging as Flycatcher's mechanical slider leg slammed past me.
"Unfortunately I'm going to be getting rough with someone else at the moment!" I grunted, dodging another swipe.
"You haven't improved since last time." I commented. "You're supposed to get better for a rematch, you know?"
"The arrogant one is so annoying!" He screeched.
I dodged some more of his swipes, being very careful as to not get stabbed once again. And then something hit him in the back of the head, taking his attention.
He jerked his head towards Bloodwraith as the knife clattered against the ground. He dashed at her as she easily rolled out of the way.
I picked up the knife, rushing at him from behind. He turned around before I quite got there, his spider leg stabbing into my shoulder. I grunted in pain as I swung the knife forwards, stabbing it straight into his neck.
He gasped, coughing up blood as he clutched at his neck and stumbled backwards. I clutched my shoulder as he continued to grasp at his bleeding neck.
His sunglasses slipped from his face, revealing a horrifying sight. Where his two eyes should've been were empty sockets. His fingers dug into the skin of his neck, pulling out the knife. It clattered to the floor, before he followed and collapsed into a pool of blood.
Do I really have to pry open his dead hands to get that usb...
I turned him over, grabbing the usb out of his hand. I stood back up, clutching the usb in one hand and my shoulder with the other.
I won the rematch, you son of a bitch.
"That'll hurt in the morning." Bloodwraith stated.
"You're still here?" I questioned.
"Only for a moment longer. I've helped you enough." She smirked. "You can say we're even now for when you rolled us out of the way."
She brought her fingers forwards, taking a small bit of my blood from my hand. She stared at it for a moment, before licking it.
What the-?!
"Your blood tastes delicious." She giggled. "You just keep getting more interesting. Don't forget to help your little partner out. Until next time, handsome~"
What?
I turned, seeing Mother Wasp still going against the man with the dragonfly wings. And once I turned back, Bloodwraith had disappeared.
...I think I should've just listened to Sophie.
