It was dark, too dark for your liking. What had happened? You felt numb, and couldn't feel your hands..or your legs...heck you couldn't feel anything. You felt dizzy, blurry lights spinning around your mind.

What was up and what was down? You couldn't tell, and you made you feel nauseous. Though, you felt a presence next to you. No, multiple presences. Your friends? Where was Ocean? Penny? Ricky? Mischa?

Suddenly, your body was not your own. You were moving against your own will, standing up with your hands clasped in front of you. Was this the choir competition? But you were sure that had already happened! Then, your mouth also moved, no, it sang.

When the fall fair comes to town!

Oh, step right up!

It's goodley fun!

All the games and rides!

A little something for everyone!

When the Fall Fair comes to town!

Your vision slowly returned, and you did indeed find yourself at the choir competition. Ocean and Constance were next to you, Noel and Mischa looming behind with Ricky in the background. The six of you danced around as you sang happily.

But something was off, something was wrong. No, missing. Who was missing? Nevermind that, you need to focus on singing. But then, something else was wrong. You were once again moving against your will, and you felt as if stuff was repeating.

When the Fall Fair comes-

Fall Fair comes-

Fall Fair comes-

Fall Fair...Fall Fair...Fall Fair...Fall Fair

When the Fall not Fair

This ride goes where?

Aaaaah!

Then, for the second time, you were falling. From that roller coaster, the Cyclone. Screams echoed loudly in your ears, causing them to ache. You reached up and covered them, curling up from where you stood. Then, it repeated. The fall, the pain, your death. Mischa... The pain, the agony. The fear and eternal sense

La La La La La La La La

La La La La La La La La

La La La La La La La La

Then, you were allowed to move once more. It felt like a choreographed dance, one you were trapped in for eternity. So, when you were allowed your own free will you used it. You jumped from where you had stood, looking to what you assumed was the sky.

In the process, you accidentally bumped into someone. Your eyes shot up to see Mischa, also looking around in confusion, and slight fright. Seeing Mischa of all people scared made you feel even worse.

Out of pure instinct, you shrouded yourself near him. Your hands reached up and gently grabbed onto the edge of his uniform, and surprisingly enough, he let you. It made you feel safe, and brave enough to feel the confidence to enter this strange new world head-on.

But that didn't last for long, as your body once again moved on its own. Suddenly, to your left and right, was Ocean and Constance. They looked equally confused and frightened.

Something doesn't feel quite right

A blur of colored Spinning light

My heart is racing pounding in my ears

They sang in harmony, but even you could tell they were singing against their own will. After their little performance, they stepped back with synchronized strides. And as they backed up, Mischa and Noel took the front. The only people who didn't move were you and Ricky.

Dizzy tingling spinning round,

Oh, where's the sky and where's the ground?

The Rabbit comes and then he disappears

Noel looked much more confused than scared, stepping back with Mischa. And just like the others, you felt your mouth move. Vocals flowed freely from your lungs in a soft singing voice.

Total darkness, spinning black

Pushing forward, pulling pulling back

Falling through the air I wonder, how can this be

Fair?...

Your voice swung up multiple octaves, higher than the rest of the choir. Even higher than you could remember being able to sing. Though it sounded...off. Almost like a scream, like the one you yelled out as you fell from the Cyclone ride.

Then, your vocals were isolated, hand reached up in the air. The rest of the choir silenced as you sang, everyone other than Ricky beginning to walk around you.

Aaaah!

Aaaah!

Aaaah!

Aaaaaaah!

After being forced to sing for so long, you finally could breathe. Though only in sharp gasps, chest rising and falling quickly. The choir then came beside you and Ricky once more, except for Ocean. She went to the front and began to sing angrily, and Noel joined soon.

What a load of freaking junk!

that crustie carnie clearly drunk

Sue that fair for everything they've got!

What's the point of even suing?

Dead, we're done, there's no undoing

Nothing left to do except to Rot!

Then Constance, Ocean, and Mischa stepped forward. Confusion filled your nerves as you stood still beside Ricky, who looked around. Had he heard something? Was he feeling the same as you? Like someone was missing.

Sex, oh god, why did I wait?

Now we'll never graduate!

I hope I wiped my browser history clean...

Your brows furrowed in confusion as Constance nervously sang about her search history. Then, the choir gathered around again. Mischa and Noel to your right, Ocean and Constance to your left.

Why'd I even go to class?

Algebra 12?

Kiss my Ass!

The group simultaneously raised a middle finger to the dark expanse in front of them. Mischa then gestured angrily, seemingly in control of his body as he stepped forward.

Now I know was YOLO really means,

The group then shifted till Ocean stood in the front. She then posed heroically, pumping a fist into the air.

Carpe Diem!

What a lovely theme!

C'est La vie!

Life is just a dream!

Just a dream!

...

And you feel a little strange

From all that spinning

And everything you loved

And everything you dreamed

And everything you feared

Aaaah!

Just a teeny tiny dot

On a

And we've all been spinning

All been spinning-

Suddenly, you, Mischa, Noel and Constance were moving again. Mischa and Noel took hands and began to dance around Ricky, who confusedly turned around with the help of his crutches. Constance did the same, offering you a hand which you took.

The four of you began to tango around Ricky, whilst Ocean took the front once more. She looked sad, solemn, somber. One of those. As she sang, you and Constance sang backing vocals quietly. So did Mischa and Noel.

Had a strange feeling from the start,

Bought our tickets, stood in line a rickety cart

I did not feel safe at all!

Tick-a-tick-a heard the crack

Then, you all sang together again.

Felt the drop, oh I know I'm never going back-

...

But what really happens?...

What happens after

The Fall?!

Fall!

Fall!

Fall!

Fall?!

Fall!

Fall!

Fall!

Fall!

Then, you all posed with hands clasped together by your guys' chest. You breathed heavily, eyes wide as you looked around. There's a long...everlasting silence. What was there to say?

After a long moment of pure silence, Constance finally spoke up.

"Where are we?" she asked, voice echoing.

You hummed in reply, not knowing how to answer. As you slowly felt your body relax, you were able to move around. Almost instantly you shrouded yourself behind the person closest to you, which was Ricky and Mischa.

You opened your mouth to speak, only for loud noises of what seemed to be a robot powering on shocked the choir. Everyone jumped, darting over to hug someone for comfort. Ocean cowarded by Constance, Noel and Mischa hugged each other. Meanwhile you darted over to Ricky in a motherly sense to protect him.

That's when you noticed something on the floor, your pink dolphin plush. Once the sounds stopped you let go of Ricky who smiled at you, and you leaned down and scooped up the plush from the floor. It was in perfect condition, though slightly stained with dried blood.

"Greetings, children, it is time to play," a booming voice said.

"Play?" Ocean cried, turning to something in the corner. "What is this? Who are you?"

It was the fortune teller robot you had seen earlier, Karnak, you believed his name was. Its eyes glowed in the dark, a bright yellow as it shuddered to life.

"Meet, Ocean O'Connel Rosenberg," he stated, gesturing a robotic hand to Ocean.

There was a drumroll, and a spotlight casted down onto her. Ocean moved without her telling her body to move, into a strange pose with her hands on her hips.

"Catchphrase," Karnak continued.

"Democracy rocks!" Ocean declared, pumping a fist into the air with a smile.

The spotlight vanished, and Ocean dropped from her pose with a gasp. She looked around, before turning to Karnak in pure confusion. Everyone else was just as confused.

"What the heck was that?" she demanded, stepping towards Karnak with clenched fists.

Karnak slowly turned towards Ocean, and you found it hard to see what he was feeling. Other than his puppet-like mouth, no facial features of his moved, or could move. He looked blank, but you knew well he wasn't just a robot.

"Your catchphrase," he stated.

You blinked in confusion, tilting your head to one side.

"Catchphrase?" you prompted, shifting to take a step forward.

That was a mistake, as you found yourself stumbling. You weren't moving like a human, wobbly and moving like you were being messily puppeteered. Before you could fall over, Ricky brought forward a crutch to catch you.

"Careful," he said...wait, said?

The entire choir gasped, including yourself. Ocean was the first to step towards Ricky, mouth open and closing in attempted then failed words.

"Ricky, sweetie you can speak?" she breathed, flabbergasted as he turned to look at her.

"It certainly seems that way," he replied, then smiled brightly and turned to you. "Badass."

You chuckled nervously, not sure how to process the situation. Once again, you tried to move. Only to stumble again, nearly losing your balance. Thankfully Ocean helped you out this time.

Puzzlement filled your mind, looking down at your body.

"What's wrong with me?" you inquired, struggling to stand upright again.

Ocean opened her mouth to try and come up with an answer, but Karnak interrupted her.

"That's what happens when nearly every bone in your body is broken," he stated flatly, and you froze.

A memory flashed through your mind, of the crash. You had survived the initial impact, and lay on the ground for what felt like forever. You heard the cracks and snaps as your bones snapped like a glow stick, the milk white structures sticking out of your body.

Blood had flowed freely from your head and over your eyes, shading your vision red. You recall seeing the bright colors of sirens as police were called. But there was one specific thing you remember seeing.

Someone had landed next to you, body crumpled and drenched in scarlet-red blood. Backwards had now coated in red. It was Mischa, next to you dead.

Back in the present, you glanced towards the Ukrainian boy. He seemed bothered with his situation, holding his phone up in the air. He must've been trying to get a wifi signal. With a shaky breath, you looked away.

"Then, how come everyone else is fine?" you inquired, taking a wobbly step towards Karnak, moving past Ocean in the process.

"That...I do not know," he replied, head dipping.

You nodded, accepting his answer and stepping away. Instead, you went over to Constance and shrouded yourself beside her. She gave you a comforting glance, patting you on the shoulder.

"Meet Y/n L/n," Karnak then announced, and another drumroll sounded.

You moved against your will, walking like a puppet without strings over to the spotlight. Your hands clasped together in front of your chest, lips pursing into a gentle smile.

"Catchphrase."

"(insert catchphrase)" you spoke without speaking, and you immediately retracted from your pose as soon as you could. "That- that was weird."

Now gotten used to your state, you retreated back over to Constance. She stared at you, baffled at your little statement. You shyly looked away, instead gazing around at where you found yourself.

"Now, Ocean, don't bore us, get to the chorus," Karnak spoke up, turning to her with those glowing yellow eyes. "I assure you, your will is your own, let's play."

Ocean frowned, blinking in utter confusion.

"What is this?" she repeated. "Like- a game?"

More strange things sounded, lights swirling across the ground. It made you jump, bumping into Constance with a grunt. You gave her an apologetic look to which she smiled back at you.

"Ocean had selected: Game mode," Karnak announced,

Noel sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of his nose. Ocean noticed everyone's disappointment, and she stuttered. Her hands came forward as she tried to come up with an excuse.

"Guys- really I didn't!" she protested, before turning back to Karnak. "What game?"

Karnak then gestured to his left, and your head followed his gaze. Strangely enough, your neck seemed to move with you needing to turn your body, a lot like an owl. You heard Constance choke and cringe from behind you.

"A game with fabulous prizes," he said, then, a curtain feel revealing multiple random objects. Each time he mentioned one, a sound played, like when you won a carnival game. "Like a stale pack of menthol cools, a succulent Hello Kitty cupcake, a limited edition Iron Maiden t-shirt still ripe with the pong of the carnie that wore it."

With each item he listed off, you cringed with Constance. That shirt looked absolutely disgusting, sweat patches on the neck and armpits. You stuck out your tongue in distaste, looking back to Karnak.

"Look-" Ocean sighed, seemingly annoyed. "Where are we?"

Karnak ignored her, yet his yellow gaze still bore into her features.

"Perhaps you might be interested in the Grand Prize, Ocean!" he declared.

Once again you and the rest of the choir were forced to move in line, your feet tripping as you stood in between Noel and Constance.

"One worthy contestant will be brought back to life to live beyond... the Cyclone accident," he finished.

From behind you, a curtain opened. Stars and bright beautiful lights shone and sparkled. You could hear the murmur of people at the fair, and you realized. It was the real world.

Just like the others, you scrambled over to the entrance back to Earth. But before you could, the curtain closed. It blocked your way, and you huffed with annoyance. Your head snapped back to Karnak with a glare, though you kept quiet.

"The grand prize, to live again!" He boomed.

Constance nodded from beside you.

"That's way better than a Hello Kitty cupcake," she murmured, looking at you, to which you nodded in agreement.

"Meet Constance Blackwood," Karnak said, and just like usual, Constance posed by picking up her skirt with a nervous smile. "Catchphrase:"

"Sorry," she whispered, then was quick to drop from her pose with confusion and almost disgust.

Ocean stepped back up to Karnak, shaking her head.

"Why only one of us?" she demanded, leaning in close to his face with a wrinkled nose.

You nodded in agreement once more.

"Why not everyone?" you inquired, waddling forward.

For once, Karnak seemed to have some kind of emotion: sorrow. His head dipped, and the once bright glow in his eyes dimmed greatly. Suddenly, you felt bad for the robot.

"Sadly, I've only ever possessed the power to bring one back to life," he explained, looking back to Ocean.

Ocean then gestured, seemingly not bothered by the fact that only one of them got to live. You were certainly not happy with it, and you were sure the rest of the choir wasn't happy either. You'd say that they should all die, so that none of them will be lonely.

"What do we have to do to be brought back to life?" she asked, looking as if she was bargaining with Karnak.

"The one who wants to win the most, shall redeem the loser, in order to complete the hole," he replied.

Ocean blinked, puzzled, then annoyed. She leaned down, with a slightly passive-aggressive tone towards the machine. Meanwhile, your gaze flicked around to the others' reactions.

"That doesn't make any sense," she told him, brows furrowed.

"I trade mostly in prophesies that don't make any sense until they actually do," he replied, looking to her once more.

Ocean smiled, holding a hand up.

"I take it you are the judge," she said, more of a statement than a question.

Another sound played, a droopy one. A sound that happened whenever you lost a carnival game. Some lights flashed in beat with the noise, catching you by surprise.

"It appears Ocean O'Connel Rosenberg has used up the groups' three questions," Karnak stated, looking to her, unimpressed.

You sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of your nose. With a roll of your eyes you left Constance's side to go sit down, give your (broken) bones a rest. This was all too much for you, an ache beginning to make itself aware in your head.

As your head dipped, you felt a presence sit beside you. It was Mischa, though he kept his gaze on his phone. He waved it in the air like a madman, though the act was still sweet. So, you gave him a smile, even if he couldn't see.

Meanwhile, Noel scoffed with a throw of his hands.

"Even in death I can't escape her!" he complained, "she's followed me to the afterlife. Well played Satan, well played."

"Meet Noel Gruber," Karnak said, and Noel posed with a hand in the air and a swing to his hips as he shifted. "Catchphrase:"

"Being the only gay man in a small rural high school is kindA like having a laptop in the stone age," he ranted, looking at every member of the choir. "I mean- sure you can have one, but there's nowhere to plug it in!"

As soon as Noel could move again he gasped, placing a hand to his chest. Then, like the damsel in distress he was, he ran with a spring to his step. A giggle was muffled by your hand. At least you weren't alone here.

Ocean rolled her eyes, turning to Karnak. As soon as she looked to him, her expression relaxed. That was Ocean for you, doing anything to get what she wants.

"But that's not fair, you didn't tell me there were only three questions," she said, smiling and rocking on the balls of her feet.

"I believe I did," Karnak quipped, "after the fact."

Ocean huffed, walking away stiffly.

"Well this couldn't possibly get any weirder," she said to Constance, who shrugged in reply.

"I am under the firm belief that it always can," Karnak stated, then gestured towards the curtain. "Allow me to introduce you to...the mystery contestant."
