Grant's never seen power in all his life.
He never met his parents, doesn't know if they're even alive.
Even though he's part of a pack, he always felt lonely and like a rogue. He was his own man till a friend of him came to him with an offer.
To train for a role in the patrol team. For the first time in life, Grant had a purpose. He worked so damn hard that he ended up being the personal chauffeur for the young Alpha as well as a bodyguard when needed.
That's how he met his mate.
The most elegant and beautiful woman he'd ever seen. He couldn't believe the Goddess finally looked at him and made him pair with the Alpha's sister.
His chest filled with hopes of a future where he wouldn't have to worry about food, clothes, status or money. Addition to that privilege, he'd gotten the love of his life.
Soon all his dreams came to a halt as he realized the power Feather holds. The position of her being the Alpha Queen.
It could never be taken from her.
But his sweet and kind Juliene is so much more, she deserves a chance as well. She can be an amazing Alpha and together, they'd be the perfect rulers.
It is never possible since Juliene doesn't even want a position. She loves her sister way too much to go against her. The acknowledgement struck him hard.
He kept in for Juliene, he soothed his heart by saying Juliene's happiness is his happiness.
But he couldn't bear to see his capable mate just being a Beta, cleaning after Feather's mess, it angered him.
A golden chance arose when Janson challanged Feather. Grant thought if Janson won, then later Juliene could challange him and win the title from him. But that also went in vain, instead Florian became the colateral damage.
Right amidst the fight, feeling one of the bond's breaking through their pack link, and seeing Feather's distraught self, Grant found hope again.
A hope to have it all without hurting anyone.
Florian's heart stopped for a couple seconds but the doctor had immediatly pumped him the serum, built from Feather's blood, to help heal fast and a couple minutes of doing CPR later, Florian was revived.
The bonds were broken by then and Florian's weakened state prevented his wolf from connecting with others right away, the bane in his blood didn't help at all.
It was Grant's chance and he took it. He had kidnapped Florian from the hospital and taken him far away from their territory.
Far from Feather, far enough to not let him able to connect or reform a bond with anyone.
The doctor and nurse present at the moment were put on spells by the help of one of Grant's witch friends so neither could tell that the Aleph was revived.
All the preparation of the funeral was arranged by Grant.
They bid farewell to a rag doll and as time went on and Feather's will crumbled, Grant found his dream coming true.
Till now.
He looks sideways to his mate, feeling the ache in her flowing through their bond as he drives her to where he had kept Florian.
Eyes full of tears and loss as he now knows he will never be forgiven.
He has lost his mate, his other half, his everything. His greed and covet made him lose his only family left in this world.
As soon as the car skids to a halt, Juliene climbs out of it, Grant following behind.
They approach a small wooden hut in the middle of nowhere.
Juliene bursts the door open and gasps loudly, breath choking in her throat as her eyes fall on the lying figure on the bed.
"Al- Florian?" She breaks into sobs as Grant walks over to her, wanting to provide a comforting hand, but coils his hand back in fear of rejection.
"Wh-why isn't he awake?" She asks angrily, Grant's heart throbs seeing the loathsome gaze in the forest green eyes that used to hold so much love for him.
Keeping his silence, Grant walks over to the bed and pulls out the canola connected to Florian's hand and throws it away. He goes to a shelf and brings out a bottle with a blue liquid.
He puts a few drops in Florian's mouth.
"He'll wake up soon. It was given to bury his scent and wolf. Nothing else. I haven't hurt him." He mumbles defeatedly.
Juliene refuses to look at his face, heart bursting with the pain of betrayal she feels.
How could her love do this to her? Her pack and their Alpha? How?
The thought pains her beyond anything she'd ever felt.
Her wolf's whimpers haven't stopped since they found out the news, and it's weakening their physical strength.
"I'm sorry." Grant's lips tremble as the words get out.
Now that he's lost his mate, his only people, he realizes how much of a fool he'd been, how wrong he was and how he'd lost everything to his greed.
"I k-know it's never enough but I'll keep begging for your forgiveness till my last breath."
Juliene bites the inside of her cheek harshly, avoiding looking at his face as tears constantly make their way down her face. She hugs her body.
The figure on the bed stirs and eyes flutter. Juliene's eager gaze linger at him.
"Wh-where am I- I?"
__________
Feather's mind spins, loud and heavy paws thud against the damp soil ground of the forest, taking her to wherever her eyes go.
Agonizing howls of pain and longing pierce out of her wolf's mouth as she only sprints faster and faster, slashing and killing every animal that comes her way.
Her paws are now coated in blood, a trail of dead bodies behind her. Deers, rabbits, birds, whatever that dared to cross the path of this lost Alpha tonight.
Several rounds around the territory later, she finds herself collapsing near the lake, their spot.
The reflection in the water scares even herself. She looks ferocious. Just like she was before a certain Omega changed her life for good.
Her wolf whimpers, all the rage, venom, spinning gone, replaced with a dull heart ache.
"Where are you, Florian? Please come back. Come back to me."
She begs.
Before, she used to beg to nothingness, but now that she knows Florian's not dead, it all throws her off.
Her mind's now a drowning puzzle in a dark abyss. She doesn't know what to believe or not, what to expect or hope or what to do-
She'd never felt this disoriented in her life before.
Maybe it was better when I didn't have a mate at all. Maybe then I wouldn't have ever lost my mind.
But now that she knows the feelings of having her mate by her side, she doesn't want to know of a life without one.
She only craves her mate. Her Omega. Nothing else.
Feather shifts back to her human form and lets her bloodied and weary feet take her to the lake, body stark naked under the glorifying moonlight.
Long, blonde hair covering her upper body as she just lets the flow take her away, hoping to take the buzzing of her mind away as well.
That's when she smells it.
The scent she'd longed for so desperately, the one she'd lost around herself since they had been separated for so long.
The scent that could calm her down even when she's on a killing spree.
The sweet scent of flowers, chocolates, and everything else sweet.
This scent belongs to only one person. Her reason for living. The person who made her the new Alpha Arya she has become now.
It's the scent that belongs to Alpha Arya's sweet Omega.
