𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟎𝟖: 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Go Kyung jun dragged Cha Soyeon away from the lifeless body of Park Woo ram as the other kids also started running towards their hiding places, fearing that they might be the next target of the Mafias.

Kyung jun led his girlfriend to the cafe and carefully hid the girl there. He lowered the shutters, made his way behind the counter and slowly slid down, letting out shaky breaths that soon turned into sobs.

Soyeon looked down at her hands, she was saddened at the Woo ram killed but at the same time, she was relieved that a Mafia had died, but most importantly, she was relieved Kyung jun didn't die.

Making her way towards the sobbing man and sat down next to him. Her butt hit the floor at the same time as her head hit his shoulders.

She grabbed his hand that was clenching and wrapped her own around it, watching as it slowly relaxed and intertwined it.

"It's okay, I'll protect you" Soyeon whispered as Kyung jun sniffed, his emotions getting to him.

"I don't want to die.." the boy said as his voice was shaky, desperately trying to hold the sobs.

"We'll go home together and I will be here and heal you, if I can't, then I will force the other doctor to do it" Kyung jun's lips quivered as the realization dawned in him.

His role was just a citizen while Soyeon had the pressure of choosing people to heal otherwise they might make a mistake and heal a Mafia.

"I promise, we'll go home together and grow old and go to Paris and feed the pigeons"

And most importantly...if the Mafias were ever to find out Soyeon's role, she...would be killed.

Kyung jun gripped Soyeon's hand tightly at the thought before relaxing. His head fell on top of Soyeon's head, eyes closed.

Night has come

Soyeon stared at the broken door and looked through. Seeing her fellow cousin crying over his girlfriend.

Soyeon was relieved to open her eyes the next day at the cafe with Kyung jun, but at what cost?

She remembered the day Yoo joon had ranted to her about a girl named Park Ji soo. As kids, the Cha cousins were close to the point they would be constantly ranting about people they had a crush on, but it was mostly Yoo joon as Soyeon met Kyung jun and was loyal to her crush.

She recalled the time when Yoo joon had called her, jumping in excitement as his crush had accepted his confession and had the same feelings he was feeling as Soyeon could only pout, envious of their relationship.

But now, the couple Soyeon had rotted for, Yoo joon held Ji soo and sobbed out loud, continuously calling her, hoping for an answer.

It wasn't long before Kyung jun had requested everyone to meet at a construction site in the Center.

On the way, Soyeon stumbled to Seung bin and Jin ha and limped towards them.

"Seung bin! Jin ha!" the two turned their head as Soyeon called for them. They were surprised as the girl hugged them

"I'm so glad you guys are alright" the girl's lips quivered, she treated them like her brothers. Although she was the youngest of them, she was the one who acted the most mature.

Paying Ju won the money Seung bin owed him, buying Jin ha clothes when he rips his own due to his fights, and stopping Kyung jun from smoking.

"You didn't follow me and Kyung jun, I was worried" Soyeon muttered as she heard Jin ha laugh "What's funny?"

"Nothing, I feel kind of nice, thanks for asking Soyeon. And we're fine, we hid in the arcade" Soyeon sighed as Seung bin nodded, his lips forming a smile.

"You guys need to stick to us alright? Who knows what the Mafias are thinking, you'll never know who's next" The two nodded and helped Soyeon walk towards the building

"We were lucky enough to be targetted, If we had, I wouldn't have found these awesome glasses" Soyeon laughed at Seung bin as he flexed his black sunglasses as Jin ha rolled his eyes "It's not that cool-looking"

The two argued as Soyeon focused on her ankle, it was getting better. She saw the bruise slowly disappearing after Kyung jun had tended to it this morning.

Soyeon now sat at one of the broken chairs that Seung bin spotted and sat her there, as he and Jin ha stood beside her, almost like bodyguards.

"Why did you want to see us?" Yoon seo asked, she gazed at Kyung jun who didn't look at any of them.

"Park Woo ram was the Mafia, what did I tell you?" He said as Seung bin clapped his hands, but everyone was silent, no one mimicked his actions.

"Kyung jun was right all along" he took off his glasses as he continued, "What's the police doing? You should learn from him"

"What do we do?" Jin ha said as Soyeon shook her head in disappointment. She didn't raise her kids to be like this.

"You'll say who the Mafia is and I'll pick who I think it is" his cocky side was getting to him as Soyeon rolled her eyes at his statement, luckily he didn't notice but someone did.

"Why do you get to decide?" Hyun ho stepped forward but Jun hee placed a hand in front of the boy.

"We should decide together," Jun hee said as So mi quickly followed and agreed with Jun hee's idea.

"Didn't you see Park Woo ram trying to kill me last night?" Kyung jun said, he looked at the other kids who tried to avoid his gaze.

"I think the Mafias are among the people who voted for me yesterday," he said as Soyeon was quick to notice So mi froze at Kyung jun's words and narrow her eyes at the girl.

Na hee denied and said they were not the Mafias, Hyung ho siding with the girl and denied.

"You sided with Woo ram and tried to kill me by voting for me. What cleared evidence is there?"

"Don't judge based on last night" Jun hee argued

"Then what should I judge on? You're the only people who voted for me"

"Is that it? Your logic is crap. Soyeon, control this asshole" Jung won and turned her head towards Soyeon who was out of it. The girl looked unconcenrated. She was in her world.

"What about Ji soo then? Why would we kill someone we were all friends with? We have no reason to" Soyeon looked out of the window and her eyes widened at the sight of her cousin, Yoo joon.

He signaled her to be quiet as Soyeon looked at the others, pretending she didn't see him.

"Wasn't Ji soo a Doctor?"

"Read the notification. It said she was a Citizen. Yoo joon must be the Doctor and pretended not to be" her eyes widened, she was not gonna allow them to expose her cousin's identity like that.

"The police used their skill yesterday, but why didn't the doctor do anything?" So mi said as Soyeon was about to respond to it but before she could, Yoon seo said something.

"Remember the night before last night?" Yoon seo said as everyone looked at the girl. "the announcement said 'a doctor healed..' not 'THE doctor healed' so there are probably 'doctors' in this game" Soyeon was speechless after.

She and Kyung jun exchanged glances as Jin ha and Seung bin discreetly looked at Soyeon, then looked away before anyone could notice.

They were worried about Soyeon's role being revealed as she could be targetted by the Mafias.

"You just made things more complicated" Seung bin said, as Mi na interrupted.

"About what So mi said, yeah. If they'd used their skill, Ji soo could've lived"

"In the room, Ji soo and Yoo joon were alone, weren't they? So why was Ji soo the only one who was killed?" So mi said, the girl made sense for once.

Soyeon thought that maybe the Mafia also had limits and they were only allowed to kill one person per night but if she were to say that out loud, they'd start questioning where she learned about 'limits'.

"Could Cha Yoo joon be a Mafia?" Mi na asked as Soyeon stood up.

"No! he would never kill Ji soo!" everyone looked at the girl in pity, she was in tears. Soyeon was tired about hearing the accusations about her cousin.

Seung bin guided her to sit back on the chair as she let him, her sobs leaving her mouth.

"That's totally if he did" Jin ha said as Seung bin nudged him. "Sorry"

"Ji soo did give him a hard time" Yeon woo said, despite Soyeon outburst, they still suspected her cousin. "Always telling him off and such"

"You lot are frustrating, I'll pick someone to vote for" Kyung jun said before he raised his hand and pointed at the president, "Kim Jun hee is a Mafia. You can tell when he ran around with the axe and was desperate to save Woo ram or should I say, his Mafia friend"

"He thought Woo ram was a Citizen. We were all betrayed by someone we trusted. He got us good, we're all victims" So mi defended.

Soyeon stopped her sobs and looked at So mi with her bloodshot eyes and shot her a discrete look. She was also desperate for the kids to not vote for Woo ram but at the same time, she was probably mimicking Jun hee.

"Then shall I pick one of you?" Hyun ho was quick to intervene,

"Could you not?" The athlete said as Kyung jun narrowed his eyes, "Why're you getting defensive? Maybe the two of you are the Mafia?"

Hyun ho rolled his eyes before his eyes fell on the three, Seung bin, Jin ha and Soyeon.

"Who wouldn't get defensive? What if we suspected Soyeon and the two guys? Won't you defend them as well?" Kyung jun stayed quiet.

"We still have a whole day to vote. We can't pick someone at random, we need actual evidence" Kyung jun cursed under his breath.

"We're not voting for your most disliked person here" Kyung jun stepped forward

"My intuition is evidence" he pointed again at Jun hee "Is there proof that he isn't a Mafia? There isn't"

"There is proof" Yoon seo revealed, "There's surveillance in the basement. Everything was surely being filmed" Everyone looked at Yoon seo.

Kyung jun grabbed Soyeon's hand and helped her walk towards the basement, Seung bin and Jin ha followed behind.

Yoon seo led them toward the surveillance and Jung won immediately started working on getting the footage.

Soyeon felt dizzy with all the typing the smart girl was doing, so she rested her head on Kyung jun's waist, she was seated.

"We can get the Mafia in once go"

"That's awesome. Mensa, work faster. You're darn slow" Seung bin said

"It's Mensan. It just turned on, wait" Jung won said. "What's this? Hold on" they looked at the device worriedly.

"What's wrong?" Yoon seo worriedly asked, Jung won opened the tab where the footage was supposed to be but found it empty.

"There's no footage or files. Someone probably deleted them" Soyeon felt like crying as her hope of finding the Mafias was crushed.

Kyung jun caressed his girlfriend's hair before turning to Yoon seo.

"Are they saved somewhere else? Look again" Yoon seo said, she desperately looked at the screen but Jund won wasn't able to help as she said someone had deleted the on purpose.

"Lee Yoon seo. What's going on?" someone asked, "You trolled us"

"You damn Mafia bastards"

"Nice team-work going on. Did you delete them?" Kyung jun asked as Yoon seo tried denying the accusations.

"I get it now. You and Jun hee defended Woo ram from the beginning. You showed up late, you were deleting the files" Kyung jun moved Soyeon's head away carefully and approached the girl.

"It's not like that!"

"Lee Yoon seo." Soyeon turned her head towards the voice, her cousin. "How did you know there was footage here?"

"What?"

"You probably knew because you were deleting the files" Yoo joon looked at Yoon seo, his eyes held rage.

"What..No-..I came across this place by accident" Yoon seo's lips quivered.

"If she deleted the files then why bring us here?" Jun hee said

"Yes. And she doesn't know how to do any of this" Jung won said

"Yeah, If I was the Mafia, I wouldn't bring any of you guys here as well" Hyun ho said as he looked at the bully trio that he had grown to hate.

"It's game over. I voted" Kyung jun took his phone out and so did Seung bin and Jin ha.

"Go Kyung jun voted for Lee Yoon seo"

"Shin Seung bin voted for Lee Yoon seo"

"Kim Jin ha voted for Lee Yoon seo"

"Cha Yoo joon voted for Lee Yoon seo"

Soyeon looked at her three friends and cousin in shock. They just voted for someone random, and possibly for a Citizen. At this point, they're making it easy for the Mafias to win.

Kyung jun forcefully grabbed Soyeon and dragged her out but Yoon seo grabbed Soyeon's hand and pleaded for her not to follow.

Soyeon was about to tell her that she believed Yoon seo was innocent, Kyung jun had slapped Yoon seo's hand away and basically carried Soyeon out the room.
