I got out of the bed I was in which was Don's, my uncle's and walked out to the living room

"What happened with you and uh Zalon? He say you gave 'em a scar on his eye, a damn shame." My granny said, shaking her head as she placed down her newspaper. She was sitting on the couch with her good friend, Mabel

"So Granny, we were at a big a- oop. I mean a huge pool party and we were having fun, then me and Serayah go closer to the pool, but it's farther away from him because a small thing had happened and we were leaving from the situation. I seen him jogging towards me and thought nothing of it, but he picked me up and threw me in the water, I had to hold down my wig and all, so when I came up I punched him in the face and I had on rings." I told my side of the story as I sat down across from them

"Ouuu, chile." Her friend Mabel said, looking a "mmm" face

"What, y'all supposed to be eighteen and twenty and acting just how y'all did when y'all was kids. I remember I took all y'all to the pool and uh Zalon and TayTay dumped you right in there." She shook her head, rocking back and forth

"I don't remember that, but they're wrong."

"Y'all was just some kids, chile." She said, waving it off

"You done got so big and look so good." Mabel complimented

"How old you turning this year, baby?" She put down her crochet

"Nineteen in a little while and you?" I asked

My birthday was August 6th. Me, Serayah, Zalon, and a few of my other cousins and friends were going to Houston, I plan ahead

Meadow's birthday was actually approaching being July 27th and I had to actually start shopping for it

I don't care, I wanted to know how old she was because she looked old and younger at the same time

"I hear that, if the Lord allow it!" Granny preached, making me side-eye

"Amen!" Mabel joined

I was about to stand up to go back into the room, but my granny stopped me. "Hey, baby. You'll run up there to that store and get me some milk, eggs, and some ribs? I'm cooking tonight and Papa finna throw a lil sum on the grill."

"Okay, Granny."

"Get the big pack of ribs, you know the ones he like."

"Okay, I will." I nodded and headed towards the door, putting on my slides. My little nappy headed cousins that I forgot were even there were outside playing around

"Y'all want something from the store?" I asked, unlocking the doors to my car

"Yesssss!" All four of them said in unison

I talked with them over what they all wanted and typed it in my notes because I would forget

The store was only a six minute drive, but I made it three. I parked my car and went in, getting a buggy. It wasn't a lot of stuff, but I wasn't about to hold a basket

I got the milk first, then the kids snacks. Afterwards, I got the biggest pack of ribs to make my granddaddy happy and put the eggs on top, so they wouldn't crack or nothing

This was an older store, so they had no self check out for me to steal, a shame

A younger white girl ringed me up as a boy young black boy bagged everything and I paid, before leaving out

I put everything into my backseat, then drove the regular speed limit back because I ain't want nothing to start flying

I made it to my destination, parking alongside the curb. When I got out with the bags, my cousin ran up on me

"Dang, calm down." I made a face, but still handed them the bags that had their snacks

"Y'all are welcome." I laughed, walking past them into the house

"Granny, I got all the stuff you asked for!" I announced, she came around the corner

"Ou thank you, baby." She took the bag with milk and the bag with the eggs

"Put them ribs in the back refrigerator for me." She tapped my shoulder

I shook my head, but still went into the garage to put them ribs in there. I placed the ribs at the top of the refrigerator and closed it and went back into Don's room, laying down

Meadow had called me and I didn't even realize it, I decided not to call back at first, but then just called back

"Why you ain't answer when I call, you ain't nowhere but wit' yo' old ass grandma." He said off bat

"Meadow, call me when you find your mind because you done fucking lost it." I said before banging on him

He called back after ten seconds, I waited long to answer. "Why you hang up, you know I ain't mean it." He sucked his teeth

"Yo' grandma made yo' momma and then she made you and you know I fuck wit' you the most." He said, making me blush

"I'll use yo' cream to make glazed donuts type shit, eat them mufuckas like Ima fat ass cop." He said, making me smile go upside down

He started to crack up, but I was just stuck. "Yeah, you're nasty and I bet your really would."

"Would if I could, but you get messy in dat bed." He said, causing me to turn down my phone

"My grandma has lived in the same house since before she had my dad, so these walls are thin. You need to quit it." I said and he went silent

"Ima call you back." He said, now sounding irritated

"Nooo you're not." I said, making him smack his teeth

"Aight." He said, lowly

"I'm going to sleep, if I wake up and you've hung up it's going to be hell or jail." I said which made him chuckle

"Go to sleep den, pretty girl."

I placed my phone right next to my face, closing my eyes. "Can you sing me a lullaby?" I asked

"Bro, I'm working and even if I wasn't, I don't know to sing and don't know to sing." He sucked his teeth

"Meadow, please." I pleaded

He huffed and puffed. "Hush little baby, don't you cry. Daddy's gonna buy you a Chanel bag. And if that Chanel bag don't look good, Daddy's gonna buy you a Birkin bag." He sung in annoyance

"Yes, actually." I bursted out into laughter, making him laugh too

"Mann, a nigga can sing." He laughed

"Okay, I don't know about all that." I stopped him before he even started

"Ight, man. Take yo' ass to bed." He calmed his laughter

My homegirl, Steph was trying to FaceTime, but I let it ring since I was already on the phone and going to sleep

"Decline it, Ion wanna hear it." He complained

"Oh, f you." I said, still letting it ring and then she just hung up

My granny had made macaroni, cabbage, cornbread, fried chicken, yams, and yellow rice. I had got it all on top of the ribs my papa made

She wasn't going to, but I convinced her to fix me my plate since I was being lazy. I got the plate and went back into Don's rooming, sitting at his desk, so I wouldn't spill anything on the bed

I also wanted to look for stuff for Meadow's birthday while eating

I knew Meadow wouldn't want to go out and do anything, but I still was looking at some things in case he had a change of heart

But regardless of if he wanted to go out and do something, I was sure the gifts as a token of appreciation would make him enjoy his birthday

The first thing I bought him was a money counter. Then, I bought him some Cologne and afterwards I started buying hell of shit

When I finished my food which took a little, I bought the last things which was the PlayStation Portal Remote Player and enhancements towards his Tesla

Me and him weren't on the phone no more because my phone died, but I was buying everything off of my iPad

I stood up from the desk and went out to throw away my food before laying down in the bed

I took forty minutes to lay down and rejuvenate myself before getting my stuff ready to leave since it was dark out

With my phone, iPad, and purse in my hand I went into my grandparents room. "Bye, I love you guys." I smiled at them. My papa was watching TV and my grandma was wrapping her hair

"Aight, baby."

"It's see you later, I love you." My granny said

"See you later." I waved, she gave me a kiss on the cheek before I left the house

Meadow had sent me two texts of where I was at and what I was doing, I replied to neither because I was busy

Serayah called me which I answered. "Hey, you wanna come over here?" She asked, showing her cousin Vari

"You with Vari cool ass?" I joked, making her and Vari laughed

"She's with meeee." Vari dragged

"Okay, hush. You coming or nah?" She asked

"Yeah, Ima just pack me a bag in case I stay the night and then come over there." I explained

I drove to my apartment complex and parked in the parking lot, then went up to my apartment

First, I checked around my house because I hadn't been there all day, then packed my bag and put some essentials in there

Second, I took a quick fifteen minute shower and did all of my hygiene. When I was out the bathroom, I put on a Skims set and applied lotion and body butter

I locked everything up and headed to Serayah's house, I stopped at Wawa for a frappe first though

Arriving there, I parked behind Vari's Audi RS 5 and got out with all of my stuff, after turning off the car

I locked my doors and went into the house with the key I had. They were on the couch, smoking hookah

"I'm finna put this in Serayah room real quick." I said, referring to my bags

"Yeah." I nodded

"No, Vari. Chance got a pair and I hate 'em." Serayah teased, making me nudge her in the arm

On the last digit, Meadow's number popped up and I was looking at her sideways. "What's this boy name?" I asked, trying to not mug

"Mmm, no. Vari, this is my boyfriend's number." I said, causing her to choke up and Serayah's mouth dropped

"You lying, I know that ain't Meadow." Serayah said and I showed her the messages that popped up

"Maybe it's the wrong number because, let me see." Vari took my phone, typing in the number again and the same contact popped up

"This not adding up, let me see." I took her phone to look at the messages of her and him, but she snatched the phone back

"Don't do that weird one." I made a stank face

"Okay, y'all. Just chill out, don't let this nigga interfere with shit... he's obviously the one y'all need to be mad at because he fucking with both of y'all and neither of y'all knew." Serayah intervened

"You're right." She agreed with her

"I'm not go'n lie, it's no bad feelings or bad blood behind "June", but I can't sit her and act good, knowing my nigga been fucking with somebody else and that person in my face right now and I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at him, but I'm finna leave."

"I know, I know, and I a hundred percent understand that." She nodded profusely

I sighed, standing up and went to go get my bag and purse before going back into the living room

"Bye." I waved, then walked out of the front door and to my car, speeding off

I rolled my eyes, not knowing who the hell he was feeling like that. I was doing eighty in a sixty to get to his house

When I made it there, I left everything in my car besides my key and phone, then locked the doors and slightly banged on the door

He started to walk out of the room, putting his hand in his pocket. I stood up and snatched him back

I looked him in the eye. "Don't fucking pull on me like you crazy." He tightened his grip and moved me against the wall

"Why you letting a bitch get in your ear!?" He raised his voice

"No, why you walking away from the situation!" I yelled back and his grip got tighter to where I couldn't breathe

"I was going to get my phone from the living room, don't fucking touch me."

I put my hand up against his arm, trying to let go, but it didn't work at all

"You know I don't fuck wit' no bitch and you think you go'n pulling on me." He chuckled before a tear rolled down my cheek

"I can't- I can't-" I struggled to tell him I can't breathe

He let out a laugh before letting me go aggressively, throwing me down on the bed

I watched him walk out and come back with both of his phones in his hand

My neck and throat was hurting and I was just overly pissed off

He sat next to me, pulling me closer to him by my arm, causing me to slightly tug away
