He walked into the club and looked around, there weren't much people here, just a few regulars and Scarlett of course, she was standing at her usual spot at the bar counter.
He took long strides towards the counter but his eyes caught something else in his peripheral. He turned and saw the main reason he was here in the first place.
Nate He was sitting on the couch in the VIP boot, with his head down, even without seeing his face, Spade could recognize him very easily, that dark brownish hair is something he can't forget in a while.
He changed course of direction and walked towards the boot and stopped In front of it, looking down at Nate, the young man looked up and his lips parted slightly and he sat properly, Spade looked at his eyes, the same one he was moving constantly not letting it meet his gaze.
He looked around the boot and there was nothing on the table, it was completely empty, no drinks or anything.
With his hands tucked in his pockets he grunted "Follow me" without waiting for Nate, he turned around and walked away.
It took a good second before Nate got his senses back and he quickly scrambled up on his feet, fixing his suit, he followed Spade watching his broad back as he took long strides away from the boot.
He led them towards a flight of stairs, just straight up ahead away from the boot, they walked up a few flight of stairs before entering a hallway, long and a bit narrow.
Spade walked briskly while Nate followed closely, just enough not to lose him, he didn't wanna step on the man's shoe, or hide in his shadow.
They walked until they got to the end of the hall, and stopped in front of the last door, unlike the others along the hallway, this one looked more fancy, black door with golden stripes and a fancy lock.
Spade brought out a card key and slid it in the lock, hearing the click sound, the door creaked open and he walked in.
Nate watched his back and slowly followed him in, the place smelt like cigarettes and musty strong cologne. Unlike his father's study, this was much bigger, and very much more lifeless. You wouldn't need a soothsayer to know it belonged to Spade. Everything on the inside was black, black couch, black Versace wallpapers, with the logo boldly pieced together by tiny other Versace logos, making the design look very scary and soul catching.
The chairs in front of the desk on both sides, were made of black leather, the window blinds were also black, making the whole room look like an endless array of blackness and emptiness.
Spade took off his jacket and placed it on the chair, he turned around facing Nate and relaxing his back on the table.
He watched him as Nate's eyes scanned the room, taking in every inch of the room. Spade watched him, from his small built, to his dark brownish hair, and his very small, innocent, brown eyes and his very tiny lips, lips like a british man. His very pale skin. Sometimes he looked clueless and younger. And other times, he looked afraid and lost.
Right now he looked almost surprised, amused, awed. Spade was trying to read him but was finding it difficult, he couldn't just fathom what was going through his head at this moment.
Did he really come to apologise, just as he requested, or he came for a different reason. Well it was time to find out. He cleared his throat jogging Nate back to reality as his eyes landed on him, he swallowed, moving his eyes from Spade's face down to his body.
He was putting on a shirt but Nate could very well that he was perfectly built, with muscles in the right places, a few chest hair peeking out from the top two buttons undone in his shirt. The sleeve of the shirt was folded up, leaving part of his arm out, covered in hair and a few veins bulging out.
His eyes trailed further down and he spotted specs of blood, just close to the bottom of his shirt, right above his belt. His eyes widened as he stared at the blood stain, just exactly what was Spade doing before he came here?
"Is that blood"? Spade cocked his head sideways looking at him, amusement dancing in his eyes.
He didn't realize he was the one that spoke, until seconds later when he realized Spade was looking at him, like preying on him.
"Is that why you're here"? His husky voice boomed through the whole room, making Nate look at him briefly and look away swallowing "I must let you know, I was handling important business before I got called here, so if you must, go straight to the point, i don't have all day" he muttered, his eyes never leaving Nate
Nate narrowed his eyes at Spade, just who does he think he is, he just got here what? Five minutes ago and he's already complaining about time?
"Neither do I, but I waited one extra hour for you" he muttered and Spade's brows cocked in amusement and his lips tilted slightly sideways.
"Is that so"? He murmured watching Nate, seeing his reaction and how good he was at hiding his emotions "I'm guessing you're not here to apologise" he stated folding his hands in front of his chest
"If you give me a reason to, I will" Nate muttered almost matching the stare of the hard, almost dead grey eyes in front of him, he didn't know why he suddenly wanted to be a loud mouth, but he's sure it's not gonna end well, definitely not for him, if his father even got wind that he was challenging Spade, he'd kill him for sure.
Even he couldn't understand where all the talk was coming from, no one could stand in front of Spade and talk like he was and go Scott free. This is a suicide mission.
Spade narrowed his eyes and nodded. Kissing his teeth inside his mouth. "You know, you've got guts coming in here" he paused leaning off the table and shoving his hands in his pocket "wasting my time" he added taking two steps close to Nate "talking to me like that" he watched as Nate's eyes darted between the spec of blood on his shirt to his face. He could see the fear in his eyes, and slight tremor in his chest, an indication his heart was about to fall off from too much beating, infact he could almost hear the rapid breathing from Nate. "I'm guessing you don't know who I am, and daddy dearest hasn't told you yet" he added dangerously low
Nate swallowed and wanted to look away but he couldn't, it's like his eyes were glued on Spade, he saw the veins in his arm flex, with his hands in his pocket, he could see the gun hoister on his desk, which means either Spade had a gun right now ready to shoot him, or he would slowly choke him to death.
His very strong arms could do that without breaking a sweat. Nate brought out his tongue and licked his lips. This action didn't go unnoticed by Spade, his eyes darted quickly to Nate's lips, watching him lick it and involuntarily his hands in his pocket twitched, which was very strange, he hardly ever reacts to things. He swallowed, very subtly too.
"You're not here to ask me questions Miller and I'm not here to answer your questions, neither am I here to play games with you" he muttered taking another step closer to Nate, at this point Nate didn't want to move any further away from Spade
Something about the way Spade looked at him, made him realize he was cornering him, trying to get him where he wanted, like a predator and it's prey and he wouldn't give him that satisfaction.
It felt like Spade's eyes had automatically planted him on that spot, his mind was screaming at him to take a step back but his feet and eyes had minds of their own.
"Something tells me you're not as innocent or as quiet and calm as you look, you're defiant" he muttered his eyes moving from Nate's eyes to his lips and back to his eyes "I'm not really fond of defiant people, I'm sure you noticed by now" he taunted his eyes moving to the red stain on his shirt, Nate's eyes followed and he swallowed clenching his jaw.
He fisted his hands beside him and tried to slow his racing heart, he could smell the mint on Spade's breath and his cologne too. Musty, like whiskey but stronger scent. This was close, very close, infact too close for him.
Spade's eyes darted around his face noticing the drop of sweat on his forehead, the shift in his pupil and how his eyes darted around the room, never stopping on his face. He watched as his Adam apple bobbed up slightly as he gulped.
This was a threat to Nate, like a warning. Spade was trying to tell him that if he as much as posed a threat, he'd kill him. And knowing the reputation on Spade, he could do it without blinking.
Spade leaned back and sighed out, before turning around "Tell your father the deal is off, he should take his contract somewhere else" he muttered walking away.
Nate's eyes widened in shock and horror. No, no, no This can't be happening, he came here to fix things, to make Spade sign the contract, but now he screwed it all up.
His father's gonna kill him and then ship Su off to some old bastard for marriage. This wasn't what he planned. Why was he even asking all those questions in the first place? He promised his sister he would fix thing, hell even his father was relying on him to fix it, or more like leaving the burden to him.
"I'm sorry" he voiced out, loud and very crystal clear. Spade stopped in his track and smirked It works everytime. Element of surprise, act uninterested and they'd come begging. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to accuse you wrongly, and waste your time" he rushed out "Isn't that what you want, for me to apologise"? He asked and Spade just shook his head
"On the contrary, no" he muttered
"But my sister...." He cut him off quickly
"Your sister? I bet that's what she told you, but she forgot to tell you that I said, if I'm going to agree to this, you have to stay the fuck out of my way" he grunted before turning around and facing Nate again. "And I'm not asking Miller, I'm telling you, because I'd really hate to kill you, you, being my brother in law and all" he muttered lowly, his voice coming out as a warning to Nate.
He swallowed and nodded his head. Hearing Spade threatening him was much scarier than he imagined. His eyes had gone from grey to very dark, looking brown like. His jaw tightly clenched and his stare very hard and intimidating.
"Fine" he whispered finding his voice
"Good" Spade muttered before walking towards his chair "Then we're done here" he added before pulling out his chair and sitting down on it.
Nate was still watching him, not moving. Just looking at him, Spade just threatened him. His heart was beating fast and hard
Spade looked up and his eyes met with Nate's, and he cocked his brow as if asking why Nate was still standing there. He cleared his throat before turning around and walking out of the office.
First scene with both of them completely alone 😁😁
What do you think??
