Both men stood at the most deserted part of the area, the place was completely empty and devoid of any human, well partly because the dock was mostly used for business transaction involving moving of shipment through water, and secondly because it was pretty dark out, only the chirping of crickets could be heard as they chirped and hopped loudly.
"What are we doing here Spade" the blonde of the two men asked as they both stood by the harbour where the huge ships and mini boats were at.
"We're here to meet someone" Spade grunted as his eyes raked over the huge, long extended metal containers used for holding shipments. The person they were meeting was in one of them.
Matteo looked at Spade his eyes bearing a lot of questions and his thoughts already asking the questions. "At the dock? we're meeting someone at the dock, Spade do you know how dangerous it is, with just the two of us"? He asked and Spade just gave him a bored expression, before sighing out
"If I didn't know any better I'd say you're scared" he taunted and Matteo just snorted, the last thing he was right now, was scared. Sure he was worried and a bit skeptical about meeting someone here at this time of the night, it wasn't safe, especially for someone like Spade, this could very well be a trap and they'd be walking right into it.
"I'm not scared Spade, just very concerned" he muttered and Spade's lips tilted in a half smile, Matteo couldn't see this because the whole place was dark, he could barely even see his own hand
"Let's go Matteo" he muttered walking away with his hands in his pocket, Matteo sighed before following closely behind him, they walked towards one of the containers, before bypassing it and walking past it, they took a left turn, Matteo turned back to see if they were being followed but there was no one, he turned back and followed Spade through the long row of containers lined up, after passing through five containers, they took another left turn and walked in between two containers, Spade stopped at the one he usually met this person at.
They walked towards the entrance and it wasn't locked like the others, he opened it, making a very loud metallic creaking sound, they both stepped inside.
It wasn't dark like a usual container should be, there was a single bulb in the middle, very dim, but bright enough that they could see the man standing in the middle as if waiting for them.
Inside was much hotter than Matteo expected, and a bit clustered, too small but he had to suck it up. Spade was the first to approach the man in the middle, before Matteo followed behind him, he reached his hand behind him, and grazed the gun he had safely tucked in there, it was always there for precaution, he carried one with him all the time.
Spade stopped just a few feet away from the man, now the light was shining in the middle of both, barely illuminating either of their face, Matteo could hardly see what the man in front looked like, but from his silhouette he already knew who it was, only now did he relax. The man was wearing a hooded sweater, making sure the hoodie was securely placed on his head, shielding his face, with his hands safely tucked away in the pocket of the hoodie, black pants.
"Carlos" Spade's hoarse voice echoed in the room as the hooded man gave him a Curt nod, his eyes darting to Matteo, both men stared at each other for a second before the guy in the hoodie looked away, his gaze fixated on Spade
"Mr DeVille" he muttered
Spade watched him, to see if anything was off about him, his eyes momentarily darting behind the man, watching the room with close rapt attention, he wanted to be sure he still had the man on his side before he spoke
"I think we're long over due for this meeting" he stated "I'm gonna go straight to the point here, what happened last month"? He asked looking at the man, gauging his reaction, watching his every move, from the way his hands moved in his pocket, to the way his eyes darted between himself and Matteo, waiting to see if he would slip up or do something that would suggest he was a threat. "The police raid" he added with an expressionless face.
"I was not aware of it, not many of us were, only a few knew about the raid" he started looking from Spade to Matteo, both very dangerous people, one wrong move from him and he'd be dead in seconds, he knew who they were and what they were capable of, the only reason he had an connection with them, was the money that came out of it.
"I pay you to keep me informed about things like this, you can't do that if you're not informed yourself, so tell me how the information eluded you"? He asked, his eyes boring into the man's soul, Carlos could feel his hands tremble inside his pocket but he was trying to put up a brave font
"Someone called the boss himself and gave him some information about you and what was going on that night, you've been on the boss's radar for so long, I'm guessing the person that called also hinted to the fact that someone was leaking information to you, that's why the boss has never been able to pin anything on you, so he told only a few officers that worked closely with him, and they planned the raid without the rest of us knowing" he rushed out, his eyes moved again from Spade to Matteo, who had a hard and unwavering stare on him, like he was analyzing him, if Carlos didn't want to fret, the stare Matteo was sending him would make him fret and even shit his pants.
Everyone talks about how heartless and dangerous Spade is, but what most people don't know, is that Matteo is worse than Spade. Compared to Matteo, Spade is an Angel.
Carlos had seen him work before, torture. It was horrendous and horrible, the image of what happened that day would never leave Carlo's mind. One of the reasons why he always sweats and suddenly becomes nervous around Matteo.
The man is unpredictable, one minute he's acting clueless and crazy and the next he's an unstoppable killing machine
"So you're telling me you've been compromised"? Spade asked dangerously low, and the man shook his head quickly, to salvage the situation, if they thought he was compromised, they'd kill him
"No, no, they suspect everyone for now, I'll find a way around it and gain their trust as quick as possible" he rushed out.
Spade narrowed his eyes as he watched the police officer in front of him. Of course he couldn't completely trust what he was telling him, but he still needed the man
He had proved useful in the past, many times than he could count. But he wouldn't just rely on his words. He had to do something, the thought of the police finally pinning something on him didn't sit well with him.
They'd been looking for ways to pin him to most of the crimes in the city, but he was always one step ahead of them
Even though they caught him by surprise last month, he still managed to stay one step ahead of them, sure they arrested a few people conducting illegal business in his club but he wasn't present, he had a good allibi too.
He let out a deep breath "This person that called, do you know who they are or perhaps where they called from"? He asked trying to think of who it might be
Carlos shook his head "no, they said they wanted their identity anonymous, but whoever they are they knew a lot about you, and if they keep giving the chief tips like this, it won't take long before catches up to you" he finished looking at both men intently
Spade thought hard, racking his brain. Who is that person that'll want him down so bad. Sure he had a lot of enemies, but this person wasn't just any random rival mafia, or his father's Ally. No, this person was closer than that, the person knew of all his plans before he executed them, and he knew when to strike.
"You're gonna keep your ears perked for anything that comes up, I don't want last month to repeat itself, I don't care how you're gonna do it but keep me informed" he muttered and Carlos nodded

The past two days for Spade was very busy and nerve racking. From one meeting to another, he barely had enough time to even speak with the Miller girl, ever since the last time he spoke to her brother, he hadn't seen any of them.
He was currently on his way to one of the meetings he had in his club. He was taking long strides, moving away from the noise in the dancefloor of the club, away from his office too, where he was headed was cut off from the rest of the club.
Secluded, but heavily guarded, there were no rooms, no doors just a long dark hallway, at the far end of the hallway, was a red double door, two heavily built men stationed outside the doors, with shotguns in their hands.
The only sound that could be heard in the hallway, was the sound of his footsteps. He got to the front of the door, and both men bowed their head.
"Boss" one of them gritted out before pulling the door open and he walked inside the room.
Inside was way different from the rest of the club. Girls with trays of drink, wearing clothes that barely covered their bodies, some were almost naked.
Huge tables arranged all over the very big room, with different men and women in suits and exotic dresses sitting around each table, playing all sorts of games.
Betting away, money, rare items, contracts and of course people. Spade's eyes raked through each table, all were involved in different activities, some poker and others pool and a few dangerous games, like knife throwing on target, only the target was a live one.
This was the part of the club was closed off from the outside, and from the normal people. Only those in the mafia knew this place existed, and only those in the mafia conducted business here.
He spotted the blonde haired man at the far left end of the place, on a smaller table, but he wasn't alone, an older man was sitting down with him.
He took long strides, passing through tables and serving girls until he got to the dark end of the room, the blonde was the first to see him, he straightened up the moment his eyes landed on Spade.
The man on the table followed his line of vision and stopped talking. He was old but not too old, maybe in his early 50s. He was one of Spade's close business associates.
Spade stopped in front of their table and his eyes stopped on Matteo who just gave him a tight lipped smile, and then his eyes moved from Matteo to the old man, he was wearing a black trench coat.
"Mr DeVille" he muttered giving him a curt nod, Spade just pulled out the chair opposite the man and sat down, intertwining his hands in front of him on the table.
"Rufus" he grunted back, a serving girl came right away, with an empty tray, she was putting on a leader skirt, and a barely covered up bra, parts of her mounds were peeking out, with heavy make up on her face, her skirt could barely cover her up, one small wrong move and her ass would be out in the open for everyone.
"Good evening Mr DeVille, what can I get for you"? She asked smiling flirtously at Spade, without even sparing her a glance, he waved her away, his eyes moved to Matteo and the blonde was smiling at the girl's back as she walked away.
He just gave him a pointed look and Matteo smile quickly faded and he had a serious face on.
