Spade watched as he walked out of the house without even sparing him a glance, not even for a second. Yes Nate was afraid, but this wasn't just fear, there was something else.

And somehow he wasn't comfortable with it, the way Nate ignored him, he didn't like it. It riled him up, left him irritated, it made him feel small in a way.

He clenched his jaw and looked back at Su, his eyes going down to the brown envelope in her hands. He badly wanted to know what that envelope contained, why Nate was meeting with Van Horne that night.

"Daddy must be proud" he muttered looking at her, her eyes met his and she sighed out looking away "you know, having two kids that would do just about anything for him, one running his little errand for him and the other willingly selling herself away to pay his debt" he taunted making Su's eyes cut to his, her gaze sharp and angry. Her lips trembled slightly, as his eyes moved from her lips to her eyes, pure rage. She clenched her jaw and shut her eyes.

"What are you doing here"? She spat at him, he didn't seem to be affected by her outburst, not even slightly. Not as much as Nate ignoring him riled him up and affected him. He looked at her with a bored expression, his eyes moving to the envelope and back up at her face.

"The deal is off" he muttered looking at her as she scrunched her brows up in confusion "our little deal, it's off, I gave you enough time to process it, apparently daddy's scheming something behind my back and I don't trust him and your little brother that just left, infact I don't trust any of you, so the marriage will hold, two weeks from now" he muttered word for word, watching her face morph into one of horror and shock

"You can't do that, we had a deal" she whispered

"I can and I will, I don't make deals with people I don't trust" he muttered his eyes boring into her soul, he could feel her resolve drop, her whole strong facade slowly fading away and being replaced by fear and sadness, but that hardly moved him. It didn't even make a dent in his dead heart. "I have a feeling your daddy wants to double cross me, and I'm never wrong about my instincts, I don't care how you're gonna do it but we're getting married two weeks from now" he finished, she shakes her head violently, words unable to describe how she was feeling right not.

This was too soon. This wasn't what she wanted, she needed more time

His eyes moved to the envelope, he knew Greg was up to something, probably something to stab him in the back with, but he wasn't gonna sit and wait around for it to happen. He had to act fast.

Whatever Nate collected from Van Horne, it was pretty important. Van Horne hardly ever does business with anyone just like that, he has to be gaining something from it, and last he checked, Greg was too broke to be able to offer anything to Van Horne.

Another reason Van Horne would agree to do business with someone is if he owed them a favour.

So apparently, it's either Greg has something other than money to offer Van Horne, or He owes him a favor. Either way, it didn't smell good to him, so he was left with two options, waiting around for Matteo to report something back, hopefully good news, or act fast before whatever Greg was planning, happened.

He chose the second option. That seemed like a sensible decision, given the way he was seeing things now.

He gave her one last look, seeing as she was finding it difficult to breathe, he turned around and walked out of the house, not once looking back at her again.

He got into his car and drove out of the house.

Su was distorted, this wasn't what she planned. She needed more time. He agreed to give her three months, but now he was taking it back and bringing it to next two weeks.

She could feel her heartbeat skyrocket, her vision was hazy. She took off the apron and rushed upstairs to pick up her phone

With shaky hands and shorts gasps, she looked for his number and dialed it, it went right to voicemail. She cussed out and dialed again, her hands were trembling, as she put it on speaker. It went straight to voicemail.

She flung the phone on the bed and rushed out of the house, not even bothering to get a change of clothes, her hair scattered but she was not even bothered about all that

She took one of the cars and zoomed out of the compound, she remembered him telling her he had to attend a meeting after he left.

She headed straight for his office, with her eyes still streaming with tears, she wiped it off hastily and thrusted even faster on the road.

The building came into view as she put the car to a stop, and rushed out, looking out of place in the huge building, she hastily used the elevator and pressed the top floor of the humongous building.

She didn't have time to admire the building, soon enough the elevator dinged and she rushed out into the very quiet floor of the building. There was not a single soul on the floor as only the sound of her sneakers on the slippery tiled floor could be heard as she ran towards his office.

She could already spot his office from where she was running, she rushed towards the door and pulled the glass door open, on the right side of mildly huge room, his secretary table was situated there, the floor was covered with a rug, she rushed towards her chair, seeing the very beautiful woman on the chair behind the desk.

She was frantic and panting as she stopped in front of the table.

"Miss Miller, very nice to see you again" she said excitedly smiling at the disorganized woman standing before her

"Is he in"? She asked and the lady nodded still with a smile

"I'll just inform him that you're here" she mutttered picking up the phone but Su just stopped her with a raise of her hands, before rushing towards the brown double doors ahead and pushing it open.

She stumbled into the office, breathing hard. Her brother was sitting on the chair behind the table, he raised his brows on seeing his sister so disorganized and disoriented. Obviously out of breath

"Su" he called standing up and walking towards her, he could see the glistening in her eyes, they were glossy and sad, he rested his hands on her shoulder looking at her with concern "what's wrong"? He asked softly and she just crashed into him, squeezing his shirt and muffling her cries.

He just wrapped his arms around her securely and rested his chin on her hair, rubbing her back soothingly as he comforted her. His forehead creased with worry as he watched her whole body shake while she cried in his arms.

The last time she was his distraught was the day their mother died and he was only but a teenager then, seeing her like this again broke his heart.

He pulled back and looked at her face, tears stricken and sad, he sighed out "What happened"? He asked worriedly, she hiccuped and sucked in a breath, trying to calm her breathing before speaking.

"I can't get married to him, not yet, I'm not ready yet" she muttered her voice shaky and croaked.

"What do you mean? Su I thought you said he gave you three months to get prepared"? He asked referring to the time Spade made him apologise

She nodded wiping the tears from her face "Yes he did, but I don't know what happened, he suddenly came today and said he changed his mind" she rushed out choking

He clenched his jaw remembering he saw Spade in the house earlier on when he went there, how he ignored him completely. His eyes rested back on his sister.

"So what happened"? He asked softly

"I don't know, I.... I don't know what happened, after you left he just switched and said he no longer trusted dad or you and then he just said the deal was off and he'd be coming for me in two weeks time" she rushed out.

Nate sighed out looking up. He could feel the pain of his sister, he knew how much she needed that time to put herself together, and now Spade was also taking that away from her, the choice to decide when she was ready.

He didn't like this one bit. He could feel his whole body become sweaty and uncomfortable for him. Why the sudden change of mind?

What happened to Spade, someone must have said something to him, or maybe their dad had done something. He sighed out and looked at his sister, cupping her face

"Hey, look at me, I'm going to find out what happened and get you the time you need, you're not getting married to him, not yet at least" he reassured his sister, she just looked at with questioning eyes, her deep sage green eyes, almost like they were hazel.

"How? How are you gonna do that Nate, he seemed pretty determined to make me his in two weeks time" she whisper and he swallowed before stroking her hair and pushing a few strands behind her ear

"I'm gonna find a way, you don't worry yourself, just go home and relax" he muttered giving her a weak smile, she returned it and let out a deep breath before nodding

"Okay" she whispered looking at him, he'd grown so big over time, he wasn't the little scared kid she grew up with, he took on the mantle of a father and elder brother in life so quick, even though he was younger than her. "Just take care of yourself" she mutttered and he nodded before pulling her in for a hug, resting his chin on her hair.

"I love you Su" he muttered and she hummed before pulling away

"I need to get back before Dad notice I'm gone" she whispered sighing out and he just nodded, looking at her. She reminded him of their mom. She was the reason he was still struggling to stay alive, everything he did, he did for her. Even working for their father was still a part to look after his sister.

He promised he'd look after her and that's exactly what he was doing. Regardless that she was his elder sister, he would do everything in his power to make her happy and protect her, especially from their father.

She smiled, placing her hand on his chin, she looked into his eyes warmly, before walking out of the office leaving him standing there.

He sighed out and turned around facing his table, stacks and stacks of paperwork awaited him, but this was more important than that He had to find out why Spade was suddenly in a hurry to get married to his sister

Was he planning something or was this his plan all along? He walked towards his desk and picked up his phone and car keys before walking out of his office. He met with his Secretary outside, sitting in her chair

He stopped beside her "Hold all my meetings for today, I may not return back today" he muttered and she sat up straight looking at him

"Are you going somewhere"? She asked in a whisper and he just sighed out and nodded

"Yes, there's something I have to do and I think it's gonna take a while" he muttered before walking out of the office, taking long strides towards the elevator

Why do you think Spade suddenly changed his mind??

I wanna find out too
