His black Aston Martin stopped in front of the club, the same one he'd been in a few nights ago, he looked at the huge Neon sign, thinking about how semi normal and regular his life was before all this.
He'd never been one to be seen in a place like this, he rarely ever even left his house to go for business function, but now he found himself coming to this club at very close intervals, twice in one week.
He let out a deep breath, looked at his wristwatch before stepping out of the car, the man at the entrance of the club was the same man he met here everytime he came.
He walked into the club, pulling together all the will power he had, he would need it for who he was coming to meet. And why he was here.
It was almost past 5 so the club was not so scanty, just a handful of people, mostly dangerous looking men sitting on tables on the left side of the room. His eyes moved to the bar and he spotted the same waitress he always met whenever he came.
A familiar face, he shoved his hands into his pockets, ignoring the stares from the men in the room, he knew most of them there, if not all had guns with them. He walked to the bar counter, leaning on it, the waitress noticed him and gave him a sweet smile, showing her braces, before walking over from the other side of the counter.
"I'm getting used to seeing your handsome face around here" she smiled flirtously at him, and his neck heated up making him return her smile with a nervous one. "What can I get you"? She asked excitedly and he just shook his head looking around.
"Nothing uh... I came to see your boss" he muttered and her bright smile slowly faded away and she just shook her head
"He's not in at the moment, do you have an appointment with him"? She asked and he just shook his head, looking by his left he saw a man with dark locks, wearing a black top and black combat pants walk by, the waitress quickly signalled him with her hands, drawing his attention. He walked towards where Nate stood, his eyes looking him over before he looked at the waitress
"Scarlett" he grunted out, with his gruff voice, it sounded like a rocky, not so smooth road, like he'd been smoking cigarettes all his life, and there was no part of his lungs that hadn't gone completely black due to smoke.
"Hey D, is the boss in"? She quickly asked and he looked at her, his eyes moving from her to Nate, he just swallowed, hoping the bulky looking man would answer the question quickly.
"Who's asking"? He asked, his eyes still trained on Nate, making Scarlett to roll her eyes at him
"Just answer the question D" she drawled out and he just gave Nate one last look over before faced Scarlett again
"He's not in" he grunted before strolling away. Nate clenched his jaw and shut his eyes. Even when he had an appointment with Spade, it took him hours before he could see him, let alone now that he didn't have an appointment with him. He felt his own shoulders slump and despair slowly creeping in.
But he wouldn't give up, this was only one blockade, something he could handle "I guess I'll just wait for him" he muttered sitting on the rolling chair close to him
Scarlett smiled sadly "you're gonna have to order something other than water" she whispered and he looked around and sighed
"Fine, uh... Get me a martini" he muttered with a small smile, his eyes went back to his fingers as he stared at them.
He was going to wait for him. Surely he wouldn't spend the whole day wherever he went, he'd come back to check on the club.
The waitress came back with a bottle of martini and dropped it on the table, opening it for him, he smiled at her before she turned around and went back to cleaning the counter from the far end.
He looked back and saw all the men sitting down and talking with each other, all of them had expensive suits on, a few of them as old as his father, and some younger, almost as young as Spade.
His eyes moved to the VIP room, the same one he'd sat and waited for Spade the first time he came here. The doors were closed
He grabbed his drink and took a sip, savouring it's taste for a few seconds before gulping it. He looked at his wristwatch and it had only been 30 minutes since he'd been here. There was still time to wait.
His mind kept plundering on one question. Why was Spade suddenly eager and in a rush to take his sister? What was he talking about not trusting him or his father? Did it have something to do with what happened at the club nights ago?
Maybe he wanted another apology, if that being the case, he was ready to do it. To buy his sister enough time. She didn't deserve this marriage her father was pushing her into.
She'd never be happy with Spade. Spade cares about no one but himself and his business, their father knew this but greed wouldn't let him admit to it
He had always been like that, greedy, nonchalant and ignorant to his children's dilemma. Mom always quarrelled with him because of that, they were always at each other's throats, from one quarrel to another.
The way they lived their lives, made him scared of commitment. He didn't wanna end up like them, unhappy. And that was exactly the kind of life his father was pushing Su into. A loveless and unhappy marriage.

He kept going through paper after paper, but it was as if it was never ending, he was getting tired, even his eyes were tired of seeing the papers, the words were becoming jumbled up in front of him.
He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, it was this part of business that tired him, sorting through paperwork and signing different contracts and slips.
With a paper in his hand, he looked at it trying to see the print on it clearly but it looked as if the words were being washed away and the paper was becoming blank.
He hadn't been in the club since yesterday, after he left Greg's house, he went straight to the warehouse to check up on Lucas, if he was ready to talk but the bastard just made him torture him more, without giving up anything.
This whole cat and mouse game he was playing with whoever this person that wanted him dead, was beginning to tire him out. It was eating up his time and frustrating. Everything he came up with led to a dead end.
Even Matteo he sent to keep an eye on Van Horne, still hadn't reported back and it was beginning to worry him out.
And then there's the issue of Greg, no not Greg, Nate. He said he would keep an eye on him but it felt like he didn't even have enough time in his hands to keep an eye on him and for some reason he couldn't trust any of his men to do it, because apparently he had a spy amongst them and until he figured out who it was, the only person he could really trust right now was Matteo.
His mind went back to Nate and he sighed out shifting his focus off the paper in his hand, thinking about how he had ignored him yesterday at his father's place, it really bothered him.
Initially he had gone there to find out a little about him but when he showed up and acted as if he didn't exist, it kind of riled him up a bit and that was one of the reasons why he shifted the marriage with his sister closer.
He didn't know if he was even right or going crazy but he wanted Nate to come ask him about it, and he knew he would, just like he came to apologise the first time.
Yesterday was the one time he badly wanted Nate to look at him, especially after seeing him smile at his sister. The sound still replaying in his head, how melodic it sounded.
He wanted to see what those brown, dull and almost scared eyes would look like as he laughed, would they light up like the evening sun, bright and golden like honey. How those lips would look like in a smile like the one he gave his sister yesterday.
He kind of hoped he would come to ask him why he had cancelled the deal, but since yesterday he hadn't seen or heard anything from him, he was somewhat disappointed.
He could almost picture his face in his mind, how nervous he would look, his lips trembling a bit as he mustered up courage and asked him why he had gone back on his deal, the way his brows would crease in confusion and a bit of worry. His voice soft and tender but very soothing, that small spark of fire in those eyes as he kept asking question after question.
The door burst open making Spade jolt out of his thoughts his eyes moving to the door, the blonde walked in, with his hands akimbo, Spade's brows creased together as he watched him walk towards the chair in front of his table.
Coming back to reality, he realized he'd been thinking about someone other than himself, not just thinking, he was making up scenarios in his head and he was enjoying it.
He has never been one to give his attention to something or rather someone this much, unless it was business, and here he was thinking about Nate, someone he didn't even like, or so he thought.
Matteo's face morphed into a frown as he looked at Spade, watching the mix of emotion on his face
"What? You don't miss me"? He asked sassily and Spade almost rolled his eyes at him, like he didn't care Matteo sighed out rolling his eyes at Spade "Well I'm not gonna say I'm hurt, but I'm hurt" he faked hurt as he looked at the stacks of papers scattered on the table.
A smile threatened to break out on Spade's face, of course he'd missed him, dare he say it, he was even getting worried when he didn't hear from him for days but he'd never tell the blonde man sitting in front of him, but he was right as always, he could take care of himself.
"Was stalking the great Van Horne and I come back in one piece and not even a pat on the back, y'all don't deserve me" he muttered shaking his head, Spade just masked the smile forming on his face and sighed out, Matteo knew he was always impressed with him, he didn't need to spell it out to him. He put his legs in the table making Spade to glare at him, he jus raised his hands up in surrender before dropping them back "Well I'm back and I have a lot for you" he muttered, piquing Spade's interest.
He leaned on the table intertwining his fingers in front of him "Oh now you're interested"? Matteo mocked and he just rolled his eyes
"Stop messing around Teo" he muttered and the blonde just ignored him and went to picking his finger, he sighed out watching him.
Sometimes he wonders what made him pick Matteo as his second in command, infact Matteo held all the open positions he had in his mafia, he was his underboss, his conglomerate and his tech guy.
He didn't make it so because he couldn't find anyone or he was being greedy, he just didn't trust anyone. After his father died, Matteo was the only one he could trust enough to be around him, Matteo played a huge role in him getting to where he was today.
"Teo" he called warningly and the blonde didn't even seemed bothered with his time or the glare he was sending him. Unlike other people, Matteo had never and can never be scared of Spade, no matter how scary he tried to be.
Spade sighed out looking at him "You did a good job, welcome back" he muttered and the blonde's eyes lit up as he looked at Spade, he could see the slight irritation in his eyes but he didn't care, he was having his fun.
"I'm sorry I didn't get that" he muttered putting his hands on his ears as if he didn't hear him
Spade sighed out and glared at him "You did a good job" he gritted out word for word
And the blonde just smiled "Now say it without the attitude" he teased and Spade just growled out glaring at him He just pouted before smiling
"Fine, fine, I know you're eager to hear what I have anyway" he muttered leaning forward on the table with a serious face on
Who else likes Matteo as much as I do 🤗🤗
