It's been almost an hour since his father called to inform him about Spade's new policy, and since then he hasn't even done a single work. He's been lost in thoughts, his mind running around in circles as he tried to come to a conclusion at the kind of person Spade was.

Maybe he went too far with his outburst last night, but he could'nt just pretend that everything was okay, simply because Spade took him to the casino and has been strangely nice to him the past few days. The same Spade had threatened to kill him on more than one occasion, and he'd been dreaming about the same Spade, and not in a nice way. There were so many red flags on Spade that he could see, so yesterday was just something that was bound to happen.

But now he had doomed his sister to suffer, because even if Spade didn't have any intention of hurting her before, he would now, after all the things he said to him yesterday.

But one thing kept tugging at his mind, why didn't he say anything last night, he'd expected Spade to snap and maybe shoot him or threaten him again but he just sat there in the car and listened to him say all those things. Maybe because he already had a plan of what to do and he was already doing it. Punishing his sister in his stead.

He let out a deep breath and looked at his wristwatch, it was almost time for him to go for that meeting he asked his secretary to set up for after lunch break. He packed up the papers on his desk and picked up his phone, before getting up

Just as he was about to walk away from his table, his door sprung open and his sister rushed in, sweating, shaking and crying. She looked discombobulated, disorganized and very scared, her eyes were red and puffy as she flung herself into his arms.

He caught her and tried to look at her face but she wouldn't let him, she buried her face into his chest and her whole body shook with tremors as she cried, she hiccuped and he could hear her sobs, they weren't light, they sounded more like wailing.

He could feel his heart heavy and his palms getting sweaty, this whole scenario was something he never wished to see, his sister in pain, and he knew the reason she was like this

About two weeks ago, she entered his office like this, crying and confused, he promised he'd find a solution to the problem but it seemed like he only made it worse, he felt the guilt settle deep withing him. He clenched his jaw and grounded his teeth together.

He gently pulled her away from him as he examined her face, her nose was red and there were tears on both her cheeks, her nose was running while she sniffled and tried to hold in her choking sobs.

He didn't need to ask her what happened, because he'd already heard it from his father, but what he didn't know was the fact that that wasn't the only reason she was here and crying.

He wished he could reassure her that everything would be fine, but even he knew that nothing about this was okay, it felt so wrong and out of place, even for him. She was hicupping, he pulled her face up with his index finger, raising her chin to look at him, her green eyes were huge and looked frightful, something had scared her, but that was not what caught his eye

He sucked in a sharp breath when he saw it, red, large finger prints around her neck, bruised and definitely looked fresh. His eyes darkened and he felt his hands getting tight around her as the anger settled and bubbled inside him at the same time, he clenched his jaw tight.

"Who did this to you"? He asked, looking at her and expecting and answer but that only made her tears to stream out more as she couldn't even form her words, she just choked on tears and tried to look down but he held her chin firm and looked into her eyes. "Su, look at me, who did this to you"? He gritted out feeling his calm resolve disappear, he didn't care if this was his father's doing, today he would give him a piece of his mind, they had an agreement and if this was his father's doing then he'd cross a line.

"..... I.." she tried to speak but words weren't coming out, all she could do was cry and stutter with her words

He cupped her face and looked into her eyes "shhhh, hey calm down okay, look at me, tell me who did this to you"? He asked gently as he rubbed the pad of his thumb across her cheek, that seemed to calm her down a bit as she tried to catch her breath and slow her breathing down.

She swallowed hard and took a shaky breath before opening her mouth again "Spade" she whispered feeling the tears blind her vision again and her throat clogged with croaky tears.

Nate felt his whole body go tense at the mention of that name, his fists clenched themselves involuntarily, his eyes grew dark and his heart rate increased, not out of fear but out of spite and anger.

It felt like someone had bashed his head with a heavy metal and he was bleeding inside his skull, his head felt heavy and his legs were giving up underneath him. This was the same person his sister was supposed to be married to in less than 48 hours and he almost killed her, if he could do this even before they got married, imagine what he'd do once she became his wife.

Colour drained from his face and he felt his blood run cold, his feet were beginning to freeze inside his shoes, everything suddenly felt as if he was in a dream world. Spade had done this to his sister. He didn't even want to know what happened to warrant such from him, he had no right to touch her, let alone leave his mark on her body.

He pulled his sister close to him and stroked her hair, calming her down from the crying she was doing, her whole body was still shaking and he could feel his shirt get soaked up with her tears. She was all he had and Spade touched her, she was his life, everything he lived for and he wouldn't just sit and watch Spade ruin her life like that.

"Shh, it's okay, I'm so sorry" he whispered feeling his own voice shake with anger, despair and sadness. He swallowed the hard, thick lump in his throat, looking ahead in front of him in the open space, he craddled her and stroked her back until he could feel her relax in his arms.

He pulled away and pulled her up on her feet, he led her to the single seater couch in his office, he sat her down and sat in front of her, he moved her hair away from her face and used his thumb to wipe off the tear on her face, she sniffled and looked at him, the look in her eyes broke his heart, she looked as if there was no hope again in this world, like everything was lost and this moment was only but a fragment of memory. "Where is he"? He asked watching her hiccup

"His office building" she whispered

He swallowed looking at her "I want you to stay here okay" he muttered and she looked at him with surprise in her eyes "there's something I have to do" he whispered and her hands tightly clutched on his, she looked scared, whatever Spade did to her, it really affected her.

"No, no, no, please don't go, stay with me" she whispered remembering the look on Spade's face when she was in his office, he looked craze like an animal and if he could do this to her then he would do much worse to Nate if he showed up there.

"I'm only going be gone for a few minutes, I'll be back before you know it" he tried to reassure her but she shook her head violently, still holding onto him tightly, he pulled his hands from hers and held it together, drawing circles on it with his thumb "Nothing is going to happen to me, I'll be back very soon, just stay here" he whispered finally getting her to calm down and listen to him "okay"? He asked, seeing the uncertainty and doubt in her eyes, but she let out a deep breath before nodding her head at him

"Good" he muttered before pulling her in and kissing her forehead, he gave her one last look, his eyes settling on the bruise in her neck before he got up and walked out of his office.

He stepped out of his office and met with his secretary sitting at her usual spot, he stopped in front of her desk, she looked up at him composing herself. "Cancel all my meetings for today" he muttered about to walk away but her voice stopped him

"But sir, the hotel..." He cut her off

"Cancel that too, I have something important I have to do" he muttered before walking away from her and out of the office.

His sister was the one person he cherished the most in this world and he couldn't let anything happen to her, Spade or not, mafia or not, Spade had crossed a line and he was going to make him understand that his sister was not someone Spade could hurt and get away with it.

"What the hell were you thinking"? Matteo almost yelled as he paced around the office, Spade just sighed out looking at him with bored eyes, like he wasn't the one Matteo was talking to. "You could have killed her if I didn't walk in when I did" he added looking at Spade.

"Then she would have died" he muttered uninterested, making Matteo to almost groan out at how ridiculous he sounded.

"Are you even listening to yourself"? Matteo asked in frustration, he could never understand with Spade, the guy was such a pain in his ass, sometimes he wonders how he deals with him "You're supposed to get married to her in less than 24 hours and you almost killed her" he rasped out almost glaring at Spade

"Why are you even here"? He asked in a bored tone, trying to forget the real reason why he almost choked her to death, he didn't want to repeat the words to himself. Normally he wouldn't care but knowing Nate thought of him in that way, made him so angry and kind of disappointed

Matteo groaned out and face palmed himself "God, I can't deal with you" he muttered going to sit on the couch in Spade's office, while Spade stood in front of his desk with his hands on either side of the table, and his back leaned up on it

Spade could still feel the anger inside him, it hadn't fully subsided yet, and truly if Matteo hadn't walked in when he did, then maybe he would have killed her, but it's not his fault, she asked for it when she called him that name, he hated it so much.

They didn't even know him and they assumed that about him. Nate doesn't even know anything about him and he thought of him as that, he didn't know what he had to go through all his life that turned him to be this heartless, and yet he thought of him as selfish and self absorbed, thinking about the word now, made him want to hit something so bad, he could feel his knuckles itch with want, he wants to feel something so bad, anything at all to get this crawling up his throat to stop.

He swallowed hard and looked away from Matteo, his face was starting to look tempting for him to hit. Matteo sensed the change in his mood and the tense in the air, so he quickly stopped pressing on the matter.

If there was one thing Matteo knew about Spade was the fact that he never acted on impulse, something must have triggered him to that point and he wasn't gonna push it. More than anything, he understood Spade so much that even Spade still couldn't fathom how he is always able to do it.

He cleared his throat and went into serious mode, this caught Spade's attention as he looked back at the blonde man he'd known all his life, the one person he'd always had in his corner, there was never a time when he doubted Matteo's loyalty to him.

"Something happened" he muttered making Spade's ears to perk up in interest as he turned his full attention to Matteo. "The guns we were supposed to collect today at the dock" he paused thinking of how to word it to Spade, this wasn't exactly the best time to say it but better now than later, Spade looked at him as if egging him on, he was already getting the feeling that he would not like where this conversation was going at all. "Someone tipped the cops off and they got there before us" he finished, watching Spade's eyes as he stared at him unblinking, rapt attention and full concentration

"And..."? He asked looking at Matteo, the blonde let out a deep breath

"They have it" he finished, Spade ran his tongue through his mouth, bitting his inner cheek, the room had gone hot and he could feel his hands ball into a fist on their own. He clenched his jaw and looked away from Matteo

"How did this happen"? He asked no one in particular as he looked in front of him, this was the fourth shipment he'd be loosing in less than three months, all expensive and valuable, he was losing too much, and asides that, the cops were onto him Even though he had a few on his payroll, that still didn't mean he'd openly show that he was involved with the mafia, he still had his legal business and image to consider.

"We don't know, all I know is we got there hoping to meet the shipment waiting for us but we found the cops instead and they already got to the shipment, they arrested a few of the men they found at the dock, but not our men tho" Matteo muttered, Spade felt his headache increase, he rubbed his temple with his index finger.

God this was not good at all, how much more will he lose to the cops or whoever this person was that was messing with him? Another gun shipment, down the drain just like that.

"Do we know who it is"? He asked hoping to hear something else but he already knew the answer to that

"Officially, no, but I think we both know who did this" Matteo muttered looking ahead.

Spade shut his eyes and tried to calm his racing heart, now he was really pissed, worse than he was before.

But that was not all, he started hearing too much noise from outside his office, he turned to look at Matteo and the blonde just shrugged before they both stood up and headed towards the door.

The closer they got to the door, the louder the noises got, he could hear his PA's voice above all else. This was only making his head pound the more.

He gently opened his door and stepped outside his office with Matteo right behind him, standing in front of his office with his PA was the chief of police, he wasn't alone, he was with two other officers. The noise died down the moment he stepped outside

"May I help you gentlemen"? He asked looking from his PA to the two men dressed in police uniform and the third one, dressed in casual clothes.

"Mr Giovanni DeVille" the older one of the three men muttered turning his attention on Spade "or should I say Spade" he added with a lopsided look on his face.

Spade clenched his jaw hard, balling his fists in his side, can this day get any worse?
