He sighed out as he tried to focus on the conference call meeting he was having, all the words they kept saying, kept coming back as mumbles and mutters of gibberish to him. His head was pounding with a hard headache and he could barely even concentrate on what was happening around him.
It's been a day and half since he left Greg's house and he still hadn't heard anything from him. He rubbed his temple, trying to ease the crazy headache he was already having. "Boss" the voice of the man on the screen made him almost growl out "everything about the auction is already in place, all except for one important thing" the man continued making Spade lose his shit, can he just stop talking already, all this voices mixing with the nagging one in his head was driving him crazy "The girls sir, we have a few at hand but we still need more" the man finished looking at him with uncertainty, he gave him a bored look before letting out a deep breath.
Everytime he had one problem or another to deal with, nothing about this life was easy, but he was handling it pretty well, all before he showed up, Nathan Miller.
His one distraction, the one person that was messing with his mind Threatening everything he'd built over the years.
"Handle it Bernie, I don't want you calling me because of this again" he muttered before his finger hovered on the end button, the man stared at him in surprise before he composed himself and gave him a Curt nod.
"Okay boss" he rushed out, slightly stuttering, Spade ended the call without waiting to hear anything again. If he was made to listen to one more voice from that screen, then he'd lose his shit and go completely crazy
Why the hell was it taking Greg so long to get back to him? He needed to know where he stood, yes his plan was still pretty much valid, and with or without the marriage, he'd still go ahead with his plan.
But Nate That was the only thing bothering him now, how would he make it so that he still saw him, had dealing with him, talked to him.
He clenched his jaw as he tried to get the image of Nate's face out of his head, how can one person hold so much control over him, that too a man. He wanted so badly to have him under him, at his mercy and at the same time he felt this strong itch to do anything for him.
He craved him with everything inside of him, those sweet innocent, brown, doe honey eyes, the way his tiny lips moved whenever he talked, the things those lips could do to him, he felt his whole body course with excitement and a familiar twitch, he could already feel his groins ache with need, heat rushing down to one part of his body
He cussed out. He wanted to corrupt Nate, taint those sweet lips, and have them begging for more, he wanted to starve those eyes and relish in their hungry look. He wanted to turn the white in Nate's body and turn it black, his hunger for Nate was growing and it was because really hard for him to hide or deny it.
He pulled out his cigarette from the pack lying on his desk, and put it in between his lips, he flicked the lighter on and off. He looked at the flame and he could feel the big one inside of him ignite, burning down every belief, every wall and every denial he'd built up in his heart.
He lit the stick in his mouth and watched it burn slowly, he took in a huge hit of the cigarette, feeling the hot, fuzy burn deep inside his bones and his body
He let the smoke move through his body, slowly mixing with the fire inside of him. Only one person lit this fire that was raging inside his body, his head and his veins. He put the stick in his mouth again and inhaled deeply before puffing out the cloud of smoke, watching it disappear with the air, somehow wishing he could puff out these feelings inside of him and watch them disappear with the air like that.
The door to his office opened and Matteo strode in not even knocking, he just gave the blonde a bored look as he watched him walk towards the couch in the office. He sighed out and watched him perch himself on the couch, he could feel Matteo's eyes on him and the cigarette in his hands.
"What is it"? He grunted out taking another puff of the stick
"It's been a while I saw you smoke that thing" Matteo muttered gesturing his head to the cigarette in Spade's hand, he grumbled not saying anything in response to what Matteo had just said. Something or rather someone was making him smoke, it was somehow relieving him of the stress his brain was currently passing through.
He took the stick back to his mouth and took in another deep array of smoke, puffing it out he placed the stick on the small cigarette tray on his table.
"Anything from Miller"? He asked and Matteo just shook his head, his eyes looking unsure, pondering if he should tell Spade or just let it pass The man already had a lot on his plate, most of it being about the kid, he didn't wanna add to it
"Nothing, he hasn't called yet" he muttered looking at Spade, he sighed out and raked his tongue through his teeth, contemplating if he should ask about him. He was itching to know about the kid and he knew Matteo was still watching him closely. Before he could stop himself his mouth opened on it's own.
"What about the kid"? He asked, mentally cussing himself for not being able to hold out for much longer, he watched Matteo look away from him, immediately he sensed something wasn't right, Matteo was beginning to act weird.
And he only ever acted weird if he was either nervous or hiding something He clenched his jaw "what about the kid Matteo"? He asked again this time louder, Matteo looked at him briefly before sighing out loudly.
"He uh... He hasn't been to his apartment since yesterday" he muttered almost inaudibly, making Spade completely turn his full attention to what Matteo was saying, he felt the slight twitch in his hands on the table.
"What"? He snapped making Matteo to look away from him again "What do you mean he hasn't been home since yesterday"? He asked
"I don't know okay, I have been checking the CCTV cameras and I haven't seen him in the house and he hasn't been seen around the building either, even his car hasn't been seen" he rushed out, Spade felt his resolve falter as he watched Matteo.
He clenched his jaw, and felt his heartbeat slowly increasing it's pace. "And you're just telling me this now"? He almost growled out glaring at Matteo, he scoffed and ran his hands through his hair. "The kid hasn't showed up to his house in almost 24 hours, right after his sister disappears and you didn't think to tell me"? He growled out feeling the anger bubbling inside of him.
"Look Spade, I didn't think it was important okay and beside you had other things you were dealing with" Matteo muttered making Spade glare at him hard
"You didn't think it was important"? He asked in disbelief "are you even listening to yourself Matteo? You know how much this deal means to me and how badly I need it in order to do what I have to do, and without either of Greg's children I can't go on with my plan, and then you didn't think it was important to tell me that the other Miller kid, the only other leverage I have on Greg has gone missing"? He snapped looking at Matteo with hard, angry eyes.
The blonde just sighed out and clenched his jaw, he knew how much this whole thing with Greg was important to Spade and he didn't really not tell him because he thought it wasn't important, he didn't tell him because Spade already had a lot going on for him and Matteo didn't wanna add to it He really didn't expect Spade to take it this far.
Spade got up and paced the room, running his hand down his face, trying to control the rage building up inside of him He let out a deep breath while taking in another deep breath.
He didn't know why he was this bothered if Nate was missing. No actually he knew why, it meant he would likely never see the kid again, asides the fact that it was all part of Greg's plan, that didn't matter at the moment. What was really riling him up was the fact that he would not get to see Nate's face again, those pink small lips, those brown does, puppy eyes and the way his pale skin felt when Spade touched him. All that was making his head hurt, the more he thought about it the more his heart beat increased faster.
But why did he leave? Why did he just disappear like that? Was it all part of his father's plan? Was he wrong about him all along? Was Nate in on his father's scheme to double cross him?
He cussed out before his eyes cut through to Matteo "Stay here and keep an eye on things" he muttered before he picked up his car keys and without even picking up his jacket he took long strides towards the door
"Where are you going"? Matteo's voice stopped him, without looking back he spoke
"To sort this mess out myself" he grunted out before opening the door and walking out of the office.
*****
He opened his car door and stepped out, standing in front of the huge building, he clenched his jaw, with his heart palpitating with blood and rage, he strolled into the building, walking with so much power and authority, he walked past every worker there and entered into the elevator
Pressing the floor for Nate's office, he shoved his hands into his pocket and looked at his reflection in the elevator door, with his white buttoned up shirt, his hair ruffled, he looked exactly the way he felt.
Angry, pissed off, frustrated, all the bad feeling there is in this world, his whole body was on fire. He sighed out clenching his jaw, the elevator dinged and opened up, he strode out with his footsteps loud on the floor.
He walked towards the office he went into the last time he came here, he opened the door and walked in like he owned the place, the lady he met the last time was perched on the chair in front of her table, he walked towards her, the moment she saw him, he could see the confusion in her eyes and the fear. This made him feel more fueled by what he was doing, it fueled his ego watching her squirm under his gaze.
"Hello sir, what can I do for you"? She asked politely, her voice slightly trembling as she tried to put up a smile.
"Where's your boss"? He asked his eyes moving to the glass door in front of her, hoping Nate would walk out any second
"Uh... Uh.. he's not in" she stuttered, he narrowed his eyes at her watching her every move, she was lying, ignoring her he walked towards the door, she sprang up and followed him muttering words and trying to stop him "Sir you can't go in there" she mutttered, he just clenched his jaw, before pushing the door open and stepping inside, to his utmost surprise, Nate wasn't there.
His chair empty and the office looked devoid of any human soul, with his table neatly arranged, it didn't look like anyone had been here all day.
His eyes moved through the office and memories from the last time he was here, invaded his mind. He fisted his hands and shook his head, this wasn't the time to be thinking about that.
He turned towards the almost breathless woman standing behind him "Where is he"? He almost growled out making her flinch and recoil back in fear, she swallowed hard and looked at him
"I...I. I don't know sir" she muttered with a stutter giving her voice a slight tremble "He hasn't been to the office since yesterday" she rushed out trying to avoid his gaze as she looked everywhere else but him.
Without saying anything else, Spade brushed past her and walked out of the office, feeling his anger double. Nate and his father were playing a dangerous game with him and he would show them just who's boss.
First his daughter and now his son? Did he think this would stop him from doing what he wanted? He clenched his jaw. Even though this smelt like a scheme by Greg, it still didn't help the small doubt that crept into his heart, the tiny voice that made him question if truly Nate was working with his father on this?
What if something had happened to him? He quickly shook his head, he can't possibly be considering worrying about the damn kid
He strode into the elevator and pressed the bottom floor, before patiently waiting for it to take him down. He was going to find the kid, wherever he hid on the face of this Earth, he'd find him. And God help Nate he isn't part of his father's scheme, else he'd kill him. Forgetting this stupid feeling he was having, he'd kill the kid and finally be rid of it.
*****
The door flew open startling Matteo as he sprung up from the couch, watching as Spade walked in looking distraught. This Miller kid was really making Spade lose his shit
He sat himself properly on the couch watching as Spade went for the tiny wine cupboard in his office, pulling out a scotch and a glass, he filled it up and drank it all at once, he didn't even grimace at the hotness of the drink. He clenched his jaw and faced Matteo.
"I want you to track his phone" he muttered making Matteo to sigh out, bitting his inner cheek.
"I can't, I've tried, it seems like it's off, I can't track it" he muttered making Spade to clench his jaw even tighter, he pitied his teeth, at how much he clenched his jaw, they'd actually break one day.
"I'm going to kill Greg, for double crossing me" he muttered to himself, he could feel the anger from before resurface but this was not the time to be angry, he poured another drink and gulped it down, seemingly finding a little calm in the liquor "I gave him 48 hours" he muttered looking at his wristwatch "and it's almost up" he finished before dropping the cup back in the cupboard and keeping the bottle of scotch.
"What if the kid's not a part of this"? Matteo finally asked the one question that's been on his mind all day, making Spade to look at him sharply. He didn't really have an answer to that because deep down he hoped Nate wasn't a part of it.
"For his sake, I hope he isn't" he muttered before striding to his chair and taking a seat on it.
