The weekend flew right by like an eagle chasing it's prey, swift and quick. If not for the fact that the clothes Nate wore out Saturday were still laying around on his bed, he would have thought Saturday evening was just a figment of his imagination or maybe a stupid dream he had
But the hoodie and black slacks was still on his bed, smelling like Spade's car, infact it smelled exactly like Spade. He'd spent the whole weekend thinking about Spade, even when he wanted to do some work on the project he'd already started, all his mind could think about was Spade and Saturday night.
He wasn't gonna forget that night quite easily. The look on Spade's face when he cheered the players, refreshing and alive. The way he'd dressed way differently than Nate would ever expect, making him look ravishing, sexy and attractive. His bad boy-CEO looks.
And the warm, fuzzy and out of this world feeling he left in Nate's stomach, it was more than a memo to Nate, because he had that flipping feeling in the pit of his stomach all weekend.
Another reason he couldn't stop thinking about Spade was the fact that he'd finally agreed to work for the man, even though he had no idea what he'd be doing for him, it was a huge risk on his path, but the words of reassurance from Spade about not giving him something he couldn't do was what made him relax.
Not that he trusted Spade, but for once he wanted to believe him, to go with his gut feeling and just let him take the reigns of control. Trust for Nate was something he didn't just give out, a lot of people had broken his trust in the past, his father included and they all said the same thing, that he was too gullible and pathetic, that was why they were able to take his trust for granted.
He wanted to believe Spade was nothing like them but it was hard, considering the kind of person he was. Pushing aside his looks and sudden niceness to him, there was still the part of Spade that lied, cheated and killed people. He couldn't forget that.
And for that sole reason he didn't wanna let his guard down, not so quick. His father wasn't even as dangerous as Spade but yet the man left a long lasting negative impact on him, and then there was the other person, the one who completely took everything from him He didn't like thinking about him or the things he'd done to him, it was a bad memory he was trying so hard to forget and put behind him for good
He sighed out as he scanned through the rows of ties hanging from his closet, before stopping at a stripped white and maroon coloured tie, it matched his grey suit.
He didn't know why he suddenly picked that color, but something about it reminded him of Spade, his eye color in particular, it was the same shade as the suit. He draped it around his neck and worked it out, before closing the door, he had already put on his shoes and wristwatch.
Fixing the tie, he moved a little to the right, facing the mirror hanging from the wall, looking himself over again. It had been a while since he wore this suit, he looked different from his usual black or blue which he always wore.
His mind going back to Saturday night, he almost wanted to smile remembering how he looked that evening. Not that he didn't wear casual clothes, but he only ever did when went grocery shopping, which only happens once in a long time, because whenever he went grocery shopping, he buys in bulk and large quantities, to avoid going back again
Another reason that made him dress casually was when his sister was still home, if he decided to go visit, he didn't always dress formal there, infact he only started dressing formal there since Spade showed up
Thinking about his sister almost pulled a frown to his face, he didn't want to be sad on a Monday Morning but he couldn't help the gloomy feeling that clouded his excitement, he missed her greatly.
He didn't even get a chance to ask Spade if he'd found her, or if there was any progress in looking for her Saturday evening, his mind was occupied with trying to compose himself from making a fool of himself in front of Spade.
He sighed out and picked up his phone, about to reach out for his car keys, he remembered he still hadn't gotten it back from the night of the shooting, Spade had told him Saturday that Matteo would bring it over by noon, he hadn't seen the blonde around and he forgot to ask Spade after their little outing on Saturday.
He remembered only after he'd gotten into his apartment, he didn't know if Spade would appreciate him calling him on phone, even though he was the one that gave Nate his number. He hadn't mustered up enough courage to call him since Saturday.
He was hoping Matteo had forgotten and he'd bring it Sunday but still nothing and now it was Monday and he needed to use the car. He would have asked Matteo himself but he didn't have his number and he didn't know if it was a good idea to go to the penthouse to ask him, but now he didn't really have a choice.
He looked himself over in the mirror before turning around and walking out of his bedroom, passing the living room, he stepped outside his apartment, the corridor was quiet, as always. He stalked towards the elevator and got in, pressing the button for the penthouse, he looked at his wristwatch as the elevator closed, it was just a few minutes past 7, he hoped the blonde would be at home.
He waited until he heard the ding sound of the elevator before the doors pulled open, he walked out, looking to his right, the corridor looked pretty much the same as his, but there were no apartments on this floor, instead there was a huge glass in front of the elevator, it would be the first thing you'd see when you got off the elevator. The glass was just like the one he had in his office.
On his right was a door at the far end of the corridor, hoping it would lead somewhere, since his left side had nothing but a wall. He walked towards the door, it looked quite different from his, dark with golden lines drawn across the body, it also looked bigger than his
He stopped in front of it, his eyes moving to right side just close to the door, it had a keypad and key card slot just like his, and then there was a buzer just above it. He pressed the buzzer, holding his breath as he waited, shifting his weight from one foot to the other
He didn't hear anything from the other side, even though he tried to listen. He moved his hand up again to ring the buzzer but the door pulled open and a well dressed Matteo was standing on the other side.
Nate saw the slight bulging of his eyes in surprise and shock before he masked it and his lips pulled into a smile, although his brows were still creased together "Nate"? He half asked and half stated
"Hey, uh good morning" Nate rushed out "hope I didn't interrupt anything"? Nate asked and he just shook his head
"No, not at all, it's just that I wasn't expecting you here, actually I wasn't expecting anyone" he said with a half-hearted chuckle.
He was putting on a navy blue suit, with a matching tie, his hair a bit ruffled but that was always how he carried his hair, Nate noticed that about him. He wasn't like Spade that always had his hair styled perfectly well. Nate quickly shook his head, realizing he was about daydreaming again about Spade.
With Matteo's eyes on him "Uhm.... Sorry, I just.. I wanted to ask you something" he rushed out stumbling on his words, Matteo nodded seeming genuinely interested in what he wanted to ask.
"Friday night uh... I left my car at that party" he paused and Matteo nodded in understanding allowing him to continue "Spade said you'd bring it Saturday by noon, but I didn't see you, I thought you'd forgotten, so I waited Sunday and still nothing" Nate explained to him gently. He raked his teeth across his lips
"Yeah about that um... I think Spade should be in a better position to explain to you, but if you like, I can drop you off at work" he offered softly
"No, I wouldn't wanna impose" Nate rushed out and Matteo just waved him off
"Oh come on, it's nothing, I'm headed your way actually and I was just about to go out when you came"
Nate thought for a while, seeing the warm look in Matteo's blue eyes, he nodded "Okay" he whispered and Matteo's lips pulled into a smile
"Great" he muttered excitedly as if dropping Nate off was actually some fun thing to do "let me just get my keys and we'll be on our way" he rushed out before Nate nodded, he went back in and after a few seconds he came back out "Let's go"
Nate followed beside him as they both walked through the corridor and got into the elevator, pressing the button for last floor. The both stood watching as the door closed. The elevator ride was silent The silence wasn't awkward, it was just there, like two men deep in thoughts that the actual world didn't really interest them, they didn't even realize they weren't talking, even as they stepped out of the elevator and passed through the lobby to where Matteo parked his car
He clicked on the remote and the car chimed, Nate looked at the car, it was way different than Spade's car. It was a little bit Matteo style tho A blue Chevy mustang, not the old vintage kind, but the new model, sleek and expensive.
They both got in and it smelled like Matteo, somewhere in between manly and fruity, not too strong but bold enough for anyone who had a nose for good scent. Nate actually liked it.
He drove away from the building and into the busy city.

The rest of the weekend for Spade went painfully slow as he had a lot to sort in his club, the shooting of Friday night was still an impending problem he was yet to solve.
The motive behind the shooting, who the shooter was, these were all things disturbing his mind, even though he didn't know if he was a target, maybe he was and shooter missed him or maybe he wasn't, he needed to find out.
Batroix was still unconscious in the hospital, his family were planning to move him back to Moscow for better treatment and security. And then there was Martineli, his own funeral was going to be held in Italy, he had to be there but with everything going on, he didn't think traveling to italy now would be the wisest thing to do.
With all these disturbing problems he had, he still had more than enough space and time to think about Nate, and Saturday evening. More than he expected, that single outing had helped him relieve a little stress.
All through the weekend, he couldn't wait for Monday so he would call Nate, so he would see him again, it was as if the weekend didn't wanna end, it moved painfully slow.
But it was finally Monday and he was up and running, he was back at the office, the moment he got into his office he'd give Nate a call, it was already past 10, obviously not too early.
He took long strides towards his office, His PA's office was just a smaller space in the corner, right in front of his and she was already there.
"Good morning Mr DeVille"
He looked at her "Morning" he let out, he was about to walk away from her when she stopped him.
"Matteo's been waiting for you sir" she squeaked out and he just stopped and turned to face her, furrowing his brows together
"How long has he been waiting"?
"About 5 minutes sir"
He let out a deep breath, narrowing his eyes at her before walking past her and stepping into his office
And true to her words he was sitting on the chair with his back to Spade, twirling it from side to side.
I miss my baby Matteo 😩😩
He's back tho You'll see more of him in the coming chapters
