He walked further into the room, his shoes clicking on the marbled floor "I've been waiting for you" Matteo muttered, he didn't say anything to him, he just walked around to the other side of the table, situating himself on the chair facing Matteo.

"Why didn't you call that you were waiting for me? I thought you'd be at the warehouse already"

"Well I was supposed to head out to the warehouse this morning but I had a little early morning detour" he mumbled looking at the magazine in his hand, it was a Vogue magazine, with the huge face of a model imprinted on the back cover, he closed it and placed it down on the table. "Besides I didn't think you'd be this late to work, it's almost noon"

Spade just sighed out "well I didn't think the office needed me around, I'm just here to sign a few things and maybe attend a few meetings before heading out again"

Matteo's just nodded in understanding "So what are you doing here"? Spade asked and his brows shot up as if he'd forgotten why he had come here in the first place.

"Oh yes, that, I ran into Nathan this morning while he was going to work" Spade was going through some papers on his table but the minute he heard Nathan's name being mentioned, he dropped it and looked up at Matteo. It was like poking a bee hive, that was exactly how his whole body felt hearing Nate's name "Why didn't you tell him about the situation regarding his car"?

Spade let out a deep sigh, rubbing his cheek with his hand, he'd totally forgotten about that after Saturday night it was like his brain was wiped off "I thought I told him, fuck I must have forgot" But Nate could have called him to ask, at least he had his number now

"Well lucky for him I was still at home when he came to ask me about it, so I dropped him off at his office before coming here, told him you'd be in a better position to explain the situation to him"

Spade nodded "you did good, I'll give him a call later to explain things to him" Or maybe he'd just drop by his office and explain to him in person, Spade still hadn't told Matteo about his talk with Nate Saturday evening, infact Matteo didn't even know about Saturday evening. "He's agreed to work for me" he muttered and Matteo's eyes shot up to his

"Really? When did this happen"?

"Saturday night" he let out with a deep breath, watching as Matteo's brows creased in confusion

"Saturday night? What happened Saturday night"?

Spade supressed the smile trying to break out on his face as he remembered what happened Saturday night. "I took him downtown to go watch the rugby game"

Matteo's eyes grew wide, the blue becoming much more lighter and like contacts "Whoa, that was quick, you're going on dates now and I'm just finding out"

Spade shut his eyes as he let out an exasperated sigh "it wasn't a date, I just took him out so he would feel comfortable enough for us to talk"

"Did it work"?

Spade shrugged "I guess, i mean he's agreed to work for me, that's progress"

Matteo bit his inner cheek "so now that he has agreed, what will he do for you? You know he's not really into the kind of things we do"

"I know, that's why I'm not going to get him into it, he's just gonna deal with paperwork at the club, the numbers and all"

"Okay, so when is he gonna start"?

Spade ran his hands down his face, scratching his beards a bit, feeling it prick the skin on his fingers, he'd grown it much over time, even though he trimmed it Saturday before he went out with Nate, it was still a bit much. "Today, and since you mentioned his car problem, I'm going to use the opportunity to call him in later"

Matteo nodded his head slowly "How's it going with the preparation for Liam's funeral"? Spade's asked and Matteo let out a deep sigh, relaxing back on the chair.

"It's still underway, I've spoken to his wife a couple of times, I was actually thinking it'll be a good idea to pay her a visit" Matteo said twirling his chair "since you're not coming for the funeral, it would be nice to at least see her before then, and plus the chief of police has been going in and out of her home too much, I'm guessing he's drilling her for questions about people her husband did business with, friends and maybe enemies too"

"She barely knows anything about what her husband did, sure she might know about his legal businesses but not the mafia" Spade mused

"But Garcia doesn't know that and he's gonna keep probing until he gets something"

Spade let his mind wander for a bit, letting his finger play with his beards, asides the Garcia being on her neck like that, she might be a possible target to whoever killed her husband, especially if like the chief of police they have no idea she's not aware of her husband's line of work "I'll pay her a visit before the end of the week, and then after you'll assign a few men to watch her, if she's a target she's going to need security now more than ever, also call Liam's underboss, tell him I'd like a word with him"

Matteo nodded before getting up "And also, I need you to dig deeper into Garcia, anything and everything you gather on him, I want it on my table latest by tomorrow evening"

Matteo gave him another nod, his blonde hair bouncing a little in the front part. "I will be on my way, don't forget to call your boyfriend" he said the last part out with a smirk and mischievous look in his eyes, making Spade to growl out.

"Idiota" (idiot) hearing Matteo's laughter rumble through the whole office before he walked out of the office, leaving Spade to dive back into the world of thinking. But he couldn't dismiss Matteo's last words, calling Nate his boyfriend, the idea seemed very tempting but now was not the time.

He kept thinking back to the fact that Nate hadn't called him since Saturday night, he could understand if the young man felt it was too soon, but what about asking about his car? Why did he wait till Monday to ask Matteo about it but not him?

He'd make progress in getting through to him Saturday but even he knew it was only but a step. He knew he'd have to push harder to get Nate to completely be comfortable around him.

****

This was his third meeting since arriving at the office, and just like the others, the odds were in his favor "This site is the best place if you're thinking redevelopment, but if you're thinking of starting the whole thing from scratch, I'd advice you use the property you mentioned in Long island"

The man he'd been going back and forth with, looked at the plans, nodding his head and looking at his secretary beside him

"I don't want a redevelopment Mr Miller, I want to expand my business to more places, creating a strong and firm name outside Manhattan"

"Well, then I guess the property in Long island is what we'll be using, since it already belongs to you, it won't be too much of a problem" he said going back to looking at the plans "And looking at the numbers, I say it will be a good revenue generator, the numbers are in your favour Mr Wright" he smiled at the man who returned it back.

"It's settled then, I'll have my secretary provide you with every information you need about the property and if you need to go scout it yourself, just let me know and I'll give you the number of my agent over there in long Island"

"That sounds like a plan Mr Wright" Nate got up first stretching his hand out for the man opposite him, he took in a firm handshake as he stood up himself

"It has always been a pleasure doing business with you Mr Miller, you never disappoint"

"I try my best" Nate joked making them both to erupt in small laughter and chuckles

"Say me hi to your father" the man said and Nate just nodded letting go of his hands, the man looked at his secretary and she got up too, picking up their files and paperwork "I'll be in touch" the other man said and Nate just gave him a Curt nod, setting his lips in a thin line, as he watched the man walk out of the office.

He let out a deep breath, feeling his neck ache, he rubbed it with his hands, checking the time, it was almost 4pm. He was exhausted, he'd barely had enough time for himself since stepping into the office today.

He was tempted to plop back on his chair and just let it rock away his problems, instead he pulled out his schedule from the stacks of paper on his table, going through it, he didn't have any more meetings, well he was technically free for the rest of the day, except for the paperwork he still had to deal with.

He looked at his table seeing them scattered all over the place, if he had his car now, he'd have driven home to rest for a minimum of two hours and then return back to finish off the work, but now he didn't have his car, and going home with a cab and coming back again, seemed to stressful for him and also time consuming.

He wanted to pick up his phone and call Spade, to at least ask him about his car, but he lacked the courage, how would he even ask, as simple as it sounded it was hard for him, maybe because it was Spade, if it were Matteo he'd have done it since Saturday evening.

Saturday evening. The memory of that day sweeping him off his feet, he half expected Spade to maybe call him even though he didn't think Spade had his number, he was a tiny bit disappointed when Spade didn't reach out to him, but on the brightest side, he hadn't reached out to Spade either and he had the man's number sitting in his phone and collecting dust.

Even if he did call him, asides the car business, what would they discuss? Yes maybe he'd agreed to be friends with Spade but they weren't exactly long lost buddies that had a million things to tell each other, and the fact that he's never even had any friends before made it even harder, he wouldn't know how to act around Spade

He let out a deep breath, his eyes and mind coming back to the work he had at hand. He started packing up the paperwork he hadn't worked on yet, arranging them inside a manilla folder, he would take it home, that way he could work on it before tomorrow.

He packed it up and picked up his phone, walking out of his office he stopped at his secretary's desk, she looked up immediately she saw him.

"Jade, I'll be gone for the rest of the day, keep an eye on things, if anyone asks of me if it's an emergency call me, if not handle it"

She nodded before he walked away from her and out towards the elevator. He got in and pressed the bottom floor, while he waited for it to move, he clicked on his phone, trying to order an Uber for himself.

The door clicked open and he stepped out and into the lobby of the building, a few of the workers going about their businesses stopped to give him a Curt nod, while other muttered a few 'have a nice evening sir' his way.

He received all with either a wave of his hand or just a nod. Looking at some of his employees, he sometimes second doubted himself, he was too young for the position he held He was a CEO of this huge building, and managing other small businesses his father owned, at only 22.

Sometimes he didn't even think he was competent enough, he was too young. Most people might see him as incompetent, and once the voice in his head got louder, he sometimes agreed with whoever saw him as incompetent, even though deep down he knew he handled things even way better than his father did when he was still CEO.

He stepped out of the building, the evening sun hitting his skin, it wasn't hot but he could feel it radiating off his pale skin, as he looked up, squinting his eyes as the brightness burned right through his vision.

He creased his brows together when he spotted a familiar car, at first he wanted to look away, thinking it was just a coincidence but then he spotted another familiar figure, standing just beside the car, his back resting on it. It can't be, but he looks just like him and the car. This can't be a coincidence

He took slow steps towards the person, the closer he got the clearer he could see him. His lips parted slightly as he recognized the person as Spade, standing with his back to his red Cadillac.

What the hell was he doing here?
