Spade had just walked out of Greg's house heading straight for his car when he heard the door open, he knew Greg was too greedy to just let him walk away from this deal.
"Wait" he heard her voice and he scrunched his brows before turning around and facing her. It was Greg's daughter, the same one he was supposed to be married to, she had the contract with her. She was a bit out of breath as she stopped in front of him
He studied her for a bit, his eyes stopping at her face, she looked nothing like Greg or his son, with different facial features and body look, she could easily lie that she was in no way related to him and anyone would believe.
"Uh.... I..." She suddenly couldn't form her words, his stare was very intimidating and scary, there was something about this guy that didn't sit well with her and whether she liked it or not, she would be forced to get married to him. He cocked his brow at her waiting for what she had to say "Um... I wanted to talk to you... About the contract" she said holding up the file with her "in private" she added while he just stared at her.
After a while of watching her squirm under his gaze, lifting one foot to another, he finally turned around and walked towards his car
"Get in" he grunted and it took a while before she realized that he was talking to her, she rushed towards the car and opened the door, getting in and sitting down. The car looked exactly the way his mood was, dark and moody.
He got in after her, but didn't drive right away, like he was waiting for something. She turned slightly and realized he was looking at her, not in a nice sweet way, but rather a very scary and terrifying way, making her swallow hard.
Was this the part where he would bring out a knife or a gun and shoot her? What was she thinking following him, this guy was very dangerous and she thought he'd just want to talk to her because she asked nicely?
"Seatbelt" he grunted and she opened her eyes wide before quickly fiddling with the seatbelt with her shaky hands
After a good few minutes of trying to put it in, she eventually did and he put the car in motion speeding away.
So that was why he didn't drive, he wanted her to put on her seatbelt, well why didn't he just say it instead of creeping her out and staring at her like that.
She was tense all through the ride, they were going into town, she barely went out, especially to town. Only when her brother invited her out to the office or when she needed to go shopping, but of course with her father's men following her.
But sitting in this car with Spade was much worse, she was uncomfortable, scared and tense. What if he wanted to kill her, or maybe kidnap her. She didn't really know much about him asides from the things she read online, but she could tell he's not someone to mess with.
He was famous, rich and dangerous. She knew he was famous because of most article online about him, rich because he owned a lot of businesses in New York and a few in Rome too, then dangerous because of his looks and the fact that he had dealings with their father.
Anyone who had dealings with their father, was either dangerous or borderline stupid, and looking at Spade, she knew he was far from being stupid.
They drove past different huge buildings until they stopped at a very well decorated and shiny building. It was a club, one of the many businesses Spade owned in New York. His famous Club, Lust.
Su had read about it from her small research on Spade. She was being forced into marriage with him, the least she could do was know a few things about him.
He parked the car and got out, she did the same and walked towards him, falling in step with him as he took long strides towards the entrance of the club
It being the early hours of the evening, it didn't look like much, there was no one outside like a usual club would look like.
They walked up to the door and the man in from of it just gave a Curt nod before Spade and the lady trailing behind him walked inside.
Same as the outside, it was scanty and devoid of anyone, safe for the bartender cleaning the counter top. His eyes met theirs as they both walked in, and he gave a Curt nod before going back to doing what he was doing
Su followed Spade up the stairs until the both got upstairs, down the long hallway, they kept walking passing by room after room, she wondered what they were used for.
The hallway was dimly lit with neon lights, soon they stopped in front of the last door and she watched him open the door with a key card, hearing the beep sound, the door opened and Spade walked in first before Su followed him.
Not once had he stopped to look at her, he was just walking without bothering to see if she was following him or not.
He walked over to his desk and around it before pulling out the chair and sitting down. He watched her as she walked towards the chair in front of his desk gingerly, while looking around the office. She held the file closely to her body.
"Sit" he spoke as he watched her pull out the chair inspecting it as if there was some invincible force in it that would swallow her if she sat.
He put his hands on the table as she sat on the chair "Speak" he muttered, she was looking at him, he only ever spoke in one word, not more unless when necessary. Was he perhaps uneducated, she thought to herself.
She swallowed before looking into his eyes, he had the same bored expression he always had on, like nothing interested him or maybe he just didn't care.
"I'll do it" she rushed out, he was still looking at her like he didn't understand what she was saying but he did, he just wanted her to spell it out "I'll sign the contract" she added and he just kept looking at her, he knew there was more, she didn't just drive all the way here from her father's house to tell him she'd sign the contract. "But on one condition" she added and he just relaxed back on his chair looking at her.
She was waiting for him to say something, anything. She really didn't like this silence, it was unnerving and creepy
"I can't marry you right away, I need sometime to set some things straight, at least a month or two" she rushed out and he just bit his inner cheek
"So you came all the way down here to strike a deal with me"? He asked unamused by her request. "Does your father know you're here trying to stall the marriage"? He asked
"No he doesn't and he doesn't have to know" she quickly told him looking away from him, he was staring at her, trying to figure out why she was here and why she wanted to wait a while before the marriage took place
"You do know that the longer it takes for the marriage to happen, the longer it takes for your father to get the money"? He asked with a deep low voice, she took in a deep breath "Tell me this, why do you want to stall the marriage"? He asked watching her
"It's personal" she whispered looking at her fingers placed on her thighs "if you agree to this, I will sign the contract right here and right now, no questions asked" she rushed out placing the file with her on the desk, he looked at it before his eyes drifted back to her, she really looked desperate and he was kind of enjoying having her at his mercy like this
Whatever reason she had for coming to him like this, it really meant a lot to her. He noticed she was nothing like her brother, she may look innocent and quiet, like most shy rich girls, but she seemed braver than he expected
He sighed out and leaned forward on his desk watching her, she looked really attractive in her own way, beautiful but there just wasn't anything about her that interested him. Nothing about her amused him, even a little bit. Not like her strange brother.
"Fine" he muttered and her eyes lit up looking up at him, she had a small smile on her lips. "But on one condition" he added and her smile faded just as quickly as it came, her shoulders slumped in defeat. What was he gonna ask of her? She had nothing to give, what if he asked for something impossible, like.... No she quickly shook the thought out of her head. "I demand an apology, not from you but your brother, for accusing me wrongly, only then will I sign the contract and agree to your terms" he added watching her face scrunch up in despair.
The main reason she was here was because of her brother, she knew her father was already blaming him for Spade canceling on them, and she knew what her father could do if he was angry at someone.
Nate had been protecting her all his life, despite being the younger of the both of them. Even speaking up to Spade was all to protect her, he was looking out for her.
The least she could do, was stand up for him and return the favor. And now Spade was asking for his apology? This was going to be harder than she thought.
Knowing Nate, he'd never apologise for standing up for what is right, especially not to Spade. It was bad enough that their father was selling her away to him, but having Nate apologize would be humiliating to him
"Do we have a deal"? He asked watching her, he didn't know why he put that condition in place, asking the young man to apologise to him.
Of course he didn't do anything wrong to apologise for, but if he wanted to have the upper hand in this business deal, he had to show them all exactly what he was made of. They didn't just call him the devil for nothing.
If it were anyone else that accused him of fraud against the contract, they'd be dead before they finished talking, but he couldn't bring himself to kill Nate.
But he had to know when not to mess with him. He wasn't like all those regular CEOs Nate dealt with. And he would not tolerate disrespect from anyone. No matter how beautiful or handsome they looked. Even if they had the most captivating brown eyes, or innocent look, or even very small and tempting lips.
He shook his head to clear them of the thoughts. He's going off track already.
"If we have a deal, I'd expect to see him here by tomorrow 4pm with the contract already signed by you" he finished before relaxing back on his chair. He could see the gears turning in her head and he liked that he was making her think so hard. Nothing about him came easy.
Would Nate apologize?
I'm eager to find out too 😁😁
