𝘠𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯. Hello! Welcome Wait wait wait. Don't go yet! I swear this is part of the story - kinda!

As the chapter name suggests, this is a tutorial of sorts. A helping hand. Every game needs a tutorial section for newbies like yourself, right? It's all part of the immersion.

Listen, I know you're eager to chat to this "yandere" guy. He's waiting for you too. But let's steady our horses for a moment. The sooner we get through this, the sooner we can jump right in and get to all the gore and horror.

OR... I guess you could just skip this chapter. That's probably what most people did the moment they saw me yapping away. It's no biggie. I don't care what you do as long as you don't come whining to me about the choice system being confusing.

Yes! You heard right. Choices!

I know Choose Your Own Adventure stories are nothing particularly new or daring within the writing genre, but I hope you find the experience exciting nevertheless.

So let's get started.

Lesson One: Minor Choices/Dialogue Options

See this cute little star symbol right here? (✦) This represents a dialogue option or a minor action your character can engage in. These choices tend to have very little impact on the story as a whole but may alter the character's response to you during conversations and activities. Usually, these sections will be pretty short and sweet so after you've finished reading it, you can just continue with the rest of the chapter.

Confused? No worries if you are. I find that using actual examples makes things a lot clearer. Take a look at this.

✧──────✧ "𝘏𝘦𝘺, 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳. 𝘗𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘳: 𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘣𝘭𝘶𝘦?" ✦ 𝗥𝗲𝗱 [Read Section A] ✦ 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 [Read Section B] ✦ 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗬𝗶𝗻? [Read Section C] ✧──────✧

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔 Red? Nice choice. Skip past the other sections and continue reading. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕 Blue? Also an excellent choice. Skip past the other section and continue reading. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖 You're Yin. That's your online username, is it not? ... What do you mean it isn't? You're definitely Yin. You have to be. I can't afford to make mistakes like this. I'll get into big trouble. Look, whoever you are, you're Yin now. You've taken their place. No buts. It'd be better for the both of us to just play along. And honestly, I don't see the harm in you taking up the role. I bet you'd make a great "Yin" anyway! So we're all good now? Yes? Okay. Whatever your answer was, I'm just gonna move on. Go ahead and continue reading, Yin. ദ്ദി(ᵔᗜᵔ) ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ~ Back to Tutorial ~

How was that? Easy to understand? I hope so. Although, I must admit, the whole "continue reading" thing sure does sound a bit jarring. We need something short and snappy. Like this: [✰CR] When you see that abbreviation at the end of a section, it means skip over the other segments and continue reading the chapter.

If you see this, however: [☽ EOC] It means "End of Chapter." I.e. just move on to the next chapter of the book after reading the section.

Now we've got all that sorted, let's move on to our next lesson. Don't fret. There's only a couple more! And these should be relatively quick.

Lesson 2: Major Choices

Minor dialogue tweaks are cool and all but there's gonna be times where you're faced with real decisions. Big ones. These kinds of choices could potentially have a larger impact on how you experience the story (though, not always). It could vary from something as light-hearted and simple as who you choose to interact with - all the way to something as intense as a life or death situation.

So choose wisely.

Choices like this will be marked with this symbol: ✮ Here's a quick example:

✧──────✧ "𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦?" ✮ 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 [Read Section A] ✮ 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 [Read Section B] ✮ 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗼 [Read Section C] ✧──────✧

I'll skip actually writing the sections for this. I know you just wanna zip through and get to the actual story. I respect that. But hopefully you get the gist of it.

Sometimes choices (particularly major ones) might take you to a whole new chapter entirely. So instead of saying "Read Section B" or whatever, it might say "Go to Chapter 14.5."

Lesson 3: Critical Choices We've looked at minor choices, major choices, and now finally, critical choices.

There may come a time where you are performing an activity or conversing with a character and need to do or say the right things in order to benefit from, deter or survive the situation. These choices will have an explicit right or wrong answer so you will need to keep track of which ones you pick. At the end of chapter, you will be given answers based on what you have chosen. These answers may not tell you whether or not you made the right decisions - it will simply guide you to where you need to go next.

Critical choices will be marked with this symbol: ➸

Here's an extremely broad example of how critical choices may function in a chapter. This one isn't interactive. I'm just trying to show you how the answer system works so there are no actual sections for you go to.

✧──────✧ 𝘔𝘰𝘮: "𝘋𝘪𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺?" ➸ A) 𝗡𝗼 𝗹𝗺𝗮𝗼. [Read Section 1A] ➸ B) 𝗢𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲, 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. 𝗜 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝟰 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼. [Read Section 1B] ➸ C) 𝗜 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗜'𝗺 𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝗽. [Read Section 1C] ✧──────✧ 𝘔𝘰𝘮: "𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬." ➸ A) 𝗪𝗮𝗶𝘁. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄. 𝗜 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗜'𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝗽. 𝗢𝗵 𝗴𝗼𝗱. [Read Section 2A] ➸ B) 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗯 𝗶𝘁, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝗴. [Read Section 2B] ➸ C) 𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆. [Read Section 2C] ✧──────✧ 𝘔𝘰𝘮: "𝘋𝘪𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘐 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰?" ➸ A) 𝗬𝗲𝗽! 𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼? [Read Section 3A] ➸ B) *𝗩𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿* [Read Section 3B] ➸ C) 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗽 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗽 (𝗻𝗼) [Read Section 3C]

✧──────✧ CRITICAL CHOICE ANSWERS: - If you got below 5 points, continue reading. - If you got 5 points or more, please turn to chapter X (Don't actually do that. There is no chapter X. This is just an example)

So if my answers were C, B, B, I'd have 12 points so I'd have to go to chapter X to see what my outcome is (probably getting my ass beaten). I hope that makes sense. unfortunately this isn't a visual novel so a computer can't do the math for you. This is the best I could come up with for now.

Here's a simple key if you ever need to refer back to anything: [✰CR] - Continue Reading [☽ EOC] - End of Chapter ✦ - Minor Choice ✮ - Major Choice ➸ - Critical Choice

Wow! I think that's everything. Congrats if you made it this far. I know it's been a boring chapter but I hope the story will at least be worth it. Thanks for being a good sport about it. I guess now it's time for me to sign off and for a certain someone to sign on.

Stay safe, Reader- No. Yin, Yang whatever your name is. I gotta scram before he sees us talking. Stay safe, friend. ^ Oh and don't worry about all this. I'll delete the messages before he sees anything. It will just be our little secret lol. ??? 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘧𝘧.
