{Author note at bottom, pretty please read. GIF wouldn't work for some reason and I got impatient, so this is an Ana de Armas gif} "All units, be on the lookout for eight prostitutes in lingerie, fighting near Park La Brea." Dispatch says over the radio.

"At 10:00 a.m.?" Ana asks, softly.

"Yeah, you know, sometimes you just got to get it in." Harper shrugs.

"are we gonna to answer it?" Ana questions.

"Hell no. Those ladies will take an eye out." Harper says making Ana giggle.

"Knit cap, 2 o'clock" Ana observes, seeing a man with a gun.

"Call it in." Harper instructs while parking next to the liquor stoor.

"Control, 7-Adam-15. 211 in progress, Circus Liquor, requesting backup." Ana says over the radio before they get out of the shop.

"Drop the gun!" Harper yells.

"LAPD!" Ana exclaims, taking out her own gun.

"Don't shoot! It-- It's just a movie! No, don't -- don't look at camera. This is great production value." The director says, making both Ana and Harper look at him.

"What the..." Harper requests.

"Okay, arrest him like it's real. Oh, no! Uh, tase him." The director instructs while Ana cuffs him.

"What?" Ana asks, confused.

"Make it really hurt." The director continues.

"Fake gun, ma'am." Ana sighs, inspecting the gun.

"Of course it is. I'm a film major. This is my thesis project." The director explains.

"Okay, well, you almost got your actor killed. Do you have a permit to film here, one that would have notified law enforcement of your use of prop firearms?" Harper interrogates.

"No, I...I'm just a student." The director stutters out, now scared.

"Well you've just committed a misdemeanor that can be a year in jail or up to a 10,000 dollar fine, can I see your drivers license?" Ana asks, softly.

"Beaver." Ana frowns.

"What kind of weird-ass movie is this?" Harper curses.

"¿No crees que estás siendo un poco dura?" Carmen asks while making breakfast. (Don't you think you're being a little harsh?)

"Abuela, te adoro a ti y a mis otros abuelos y te agradezco todos los años que me protegiste y las veces que me salvaste la vida. Pero no puedo seguir haciendo esto. No puedo seguir permitiendo que la abuela Esmeralda traiga hombres a casa a mitad del día. No puedo permitir que esté borracha al mediodía. No es seguro ni saludable y hasta que ella se disculpe por ser tan grosera con Moose y conmigo, que solo estábamos tratando de protegerla, no hablaré con ella." Ana sighs, getting ready for work. (Abuela, I adore you and my other grandparents and I'm thankful for all of the years that you protected me and the times you saved my life. But I can't keep doing this. I can't keep allowing Abuela Esmerelda to bring men home in the middle of the day. I can't allow her to be drunk at noon. It's not safe or healthy and until she apologizes for being so rude to Moose and to me, who were just trying to protect her, then I won't talk to her.)

"Lo entiendo, cariño, pero no puedes tomar decisiones por ella." Carmen replies. (I understand, baby, but you can't make choices for her.)

"Tienes razón, no puedo. Pero puedo restringir sus opciones." Ana says, playing with the house key. She usually leaves one copy of the key at the house and the other she carries with her, but now she's given the other copy to Tim.

"¡Sabes que eso no es justo y lo sabes!" Carmen exclaims, realizing what Ana is doing. (You know that's not fair and you know it!)

"Tiene la cadera rota y está haciendo Dios sabe qué con los viejos. Esto es tanto para ella como para mí." Ana argues, grabbing her bag before leaving. (She has a broken hip and is doing gods know what with old men. This is as much for her as it is for me.)

"Okay, before you hit the street today, a few orders of business. One of my duties as Sergeant is to run periodic assessments on officers under my command to ensure that the duty manual is being followed and that, personally, you are all above reproach." Grey announces during roll call.

"Then I hope you didn't read my diary." Smitty jokes, making Ana and the other officers laugh.

"Uh, what exactly is being assessed?" Lucy asks.

"Occupational integrity. From how we maintain our equipment to the upkeep of all of our certifications." Tim explains.

"If we can't obey every rule, how can we expect that from citizens?" Harper continues.

Ana raises her hand.

"Cabrera, for the millionth time, just ask your damn question" Grey sighs.

"When you say every rule, are we also talking about the ones buried in the LAPD officer qualifications book-" Ana starts.

"It's not a rule if it's racist" Tim practically growls.

There is a small little rule in the LAPD officer qualifications book that says immigrants can't be cops. Ana didn't even find out about said rule until Lucy found it while studying. She's obviously still a cop and everyone says the rule is void even though it hasn't been removed from the book.

"Officer Bradford is right. This is a list of all minor deficiencies. Officer West will be in charge of sharing those infractions with you and making sure this station is in compliance with all regulations." Grey says, moving on.

"So I won't be riding with Officer Lopez today, sir?" Jackson asks.

"No, she and I will be out of the station for the rest of the day. So, that being said, Sergeant Roberts from Pacific Division will be filling in. I expect to hear good things. That's it. Officer Nolan, a word, please." Grey dismisses them.

Ana stands up with Harper and walks out of the roll call room.

"alright, what's up, runt?" Harper asks as they get the gear from the quartermaster.

"what do you mean?" Ana asks, softly, turning to look at Harper.

"You're overthinking" Harper remarks.

"what?" Ana questions, softly.

"well, you're always overthinking, but right now you're not overthinking what came first the color orange or the fruit or something else stupidly cute, you're overthinking something that's making your head messy and you can't be messy on patrol" Harper replies.

"oh... um, just family stuff" Ana answers, softly, looking a little uncomfortable.

Harper raises an eyebrow when Ana doesn't elaborate further.

"y-you want to know my family drama, ma'am?" Ana asks, surprised.

"Runt, you already know all of my shit, only fair that I know yours" Harper says.

"that's... fair" Ana sighs, softly.

"um, last week my abuela Esmerelda called me in the middle of patrol, insisted I come to the apartment as quick as I could. When I got there, I found her hitting my dog with a pillow for attacking a man who was trying to drug her. Even after finding out her failed one night stand's intentions, she was still mad at the dog and would be rude to it whenever she could. Tim volunteered to take him so I gave Moose to Tim, but I'm still pissed at her" Ana explains.

"sounds fair enough" Harper shrugs.

"I just-... I'm saving up for her hip replacement and she's still going out and partying every day at like 10 o'clock on the morning and I love her, but it's not good or healthy for her. Every time I come home, she's drunk or hangover and it just brings back bad memories from Cuba and I don't- I'm tired of putting up with it but now all of my abuelas and abuelos are mad at me for not apologizing to Esmerelda for my dog saving her, so-... I just- don't know what to do" Ana continues, softly.

"don't do anything" Harper says. "they're adults, they can do whatever the hell they want and you can't stop them"

"but what if that man did drug her? she could be dead or kidnapped or something worse" Ana rambles.

"Runt, you are the nicest person I've ever met, but you need to realize not everyone wants to be helped. Not everyone wants to be supported by you and it sucks, but sometimes you have to let them learn their lesson" Harper advises.

Ana frowns, but wordlessly nods. She's still caught up in her head, but now with what Harper told her.

[Timeskip - Patrol]

"alright" Harper sighs, getting off the phone with Nolan.

"what's up, ma'am?" Ana asks, softly.

"Bradford is caught up in his girlfriend's dad's theft thing, so Nolan wants us to follow the gps coordinates of the guy who stole his identity" Harper explains.

"how does he know the gps coordinates?" Ana questions, softly.

"Something about an Allenbach" Harper shrugs.

"Oh, that's a watch, made for fighter pilots originally. They have trackers in case a fighter pilot was shot down." Ana realizes, having googled it on her phone

"7-Adam-15, I have a records match for the address you called in. House belongs to Jordan Neil, 43 years old, no criminal history." Dispatch says over the radio.

"That's about to change." Harper smirks.

"He's gonna get away" Ana says as they watch the man run into his house.

"No, he's not." Harper exclaims as they chase the man.

Neil screams as Ana pins him to the ground.

"You're under arrest." Ana says.

"How the hell did you find me?" Neil asks, trying to struggle.

"You stole the identities of over 40 people." Harper replies.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. And do you mind taking these off? You're scratching my Eames chair." Neil requests.

"I think you mean Nolan's Eames chair and Nolan's jukebox and Nolan's drones, god I wish I was rich" Ana murmurs, looking around at the very fancy house.

"What is tiny cop talking about?" Neil asks Harper.

"You stole my friend's identity -- John Nolan." Ana replies.

"Yeah. How's that for luck? You stole a cop's identity." Harper smirks.

"Look, there's obviously been some sort of misunderstanding." Neil argues.

"Mm. Mm-hmm. Yeah, okay. So, here's what's gonna happen. A truck is gonna come and get all of this stuff because it's not your stuff -- it's evidence that will eventually be sold off to pay back all your victims." Harper explains.

"You can't do that." Neil protests.

"Oh, but the law says that I can." Harper replies as Ana hoists Neil up.

Ana puts Neil into the back of the shop while Harper calls Jackson to come and go through all of Neil's possessions.

[Timeskip]

"Turn to the left." Ana says as she takes pictures of him for processing.

"Uh, that's not really my good side." Neil protests.

"Please face left." Ana pleads, softly, making Neil laugh.

"Sir, I really need you to turn left, this isn't a game" Ana begs.

"Well, as the Buddha says, "When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves." I read it on a fortune cookie. What do you want?" Neil replies.

"You don't feel guilty for ruining the lives of over forty people?" Ana asks, softly.

"I'm an innocent man." Neil insists.

"No, you're an identity thief" Ana argues.

"Well, until my lawyer comes to bail me out." Neil replies.

"Runt" Harper calls.

Ana finishes processing Neil and walks over to Harper and Summerland, a detective who helped Nolan find Neil.

"What's going on, sir?" Ana asks, softly.

"I calculated the value of all the items that Officer West catalogued at the residence so far, and when you cross-reference the valuation of all the seized assets against the --" Summerland starts, just confusing Ana.

"Okay, d-d-don't get all mathy on her." Harper interrupts.

"Oh, gosh, sorry. We know that Mr. Neil, he stole close to $2 million, right? However, the value of his seized assets, they're only worth $700,000." Summerland explains.

"so where is the other 1.3 million?" Ana asks, softly, tilting her head.

"My guess is that the money is probably sitting pretty in an offshore account." Summerland explains.

"How can we find that?" Harper asks.

"The information is most likely on his computers. However, his computers happen to be R.S.A.-encrypted, which means there's totally no way we can crack them." Summerland says, delivering the bad news.

"But if we have Jordan's computers, he doesn't have access to the money either, right?" Harper questions.

"N-Not unless he's got a backup...drive." Summerland stutters out.

"So, that'll be the first thing he goes for when bailed out" Ana realizes, softly, turning to Harper.

"West" Harper says, calling Jackson.

[Timeskip]

"we're going to let Nolan down" Ana frowns as they pull up to Neil's house.

"Find anything?" Ana asks, softly, when they meet up with Jackson.

"Afraid not. Jordan bail out yet?" Jackson replies.

"Almost an hour ago, where have you looked?" Ana answers.

"I-I checked all upstairs, and I just started down here." Jackson answers.

"Okay, let's keep looking" Ana decides, softly.

"Hey, do you guys mind taking it from here? I, uh, reached out to this victim on this cold case, and he's on his way to the station." Jackson requests.

"Go ahead. We got it." Harper nods.

"Thank you." Jackson says.

"Thank you, Jackson" Ana calls as Jackson leaves.

Ten minutes later, Neil appears while Ana and Harper are searching.

"What happened to your lip?" Ana asks, softly, seeing a cut on Neil's lip.

"What? Nothing. I, uh, ran into a door." Neil responds.

"You know you can't be here." Harper dead pans.

"It's my house." Neil protests.

"Not until we release it, and we are not done processing." Harper corrects.

"Well, can I at least grab my meds? I've got GERD. The reflux is a bitch." Neil requests.

"I'll need to go with you" Ana sighs, following after Neil

"Whatever." Neil says, going into his bathroom and grabbing his pills.

"okay, you got 'em, let's go" Ana says, softly.

"I just need one more thing." Neil interrupts.

"What's that, sir?" Ana sighs.

"To use la toilette, s'il vous plaît. Number..." Neil starts.

"I understand, sir" Ana interrupts, staring to frisk him.

"What do you think this is, The Godfather? Like I'm gonna come out shooting?" Neil questions as Ana does so.

"Based on your history of dumb decisions..." Harper trails off.

"All clear." Ana says, softly.

"Hurry up." Harper calls.

"I'm gonna turn the faucet on. What I'm about to do, you can't un-hear." Neil says as he enters the bathroom and closes the door.

"You know, I'm a victim here, too. I lost everything in the financial crisis. And I thought, "Well, hey, I'm only 30. I could start again." So I did. I went back to school. I tried to get into making video games. But I'd already aged out." Neil says, starting to say a sob story.

"that doesn't mean you ruin other people's lives" Ana replies through the door.

"Allegedly ruined." Neil corrects making Ana sigh.

"Identity theft isn't a joke, sir" Ana sighs.

"I'm not sorry anymore for allegedly taking your friend's money." Neil replies.

"Don't forget to wash your hands." Ana says, softly, getting a headache.

[Timeskip]

"Listen, sir, if you just confess and pay the restitution, your jail sentence will be much shorter" Ana advises, softly.

"I told you, I'm innocent. My neighbors love to gossip. I'm -- I'm gonna leave out the back." Neil says, starting to stutter when he sees an SUV parked across the street..

"Who's in the SUV?" Harper asks.

"I don't know. No idea." Neil replies, looking scared.

"Are you sure, sir? You look a little nervous" Ana frowns.

"Yeah, I'm positive. Can I go now?" Neil pleads.

"we'll walk you out" Ana says, softly.

"whatever" Neil scoffs.

[Timeskip]

"This is beautiful." Summerland remarks as he looks over the drive.

"What's on the drive?" Ana asks, softly.

"Passwords to two different Swiss banks and, oh, by the way, three banks in the Caymans, baby." Summerland celebrates.

"So, this will expedite Nolan's case?" Ana asks, softly.

"Yes, this -- this bad boy just got kicked into overdrive, which means y-you can expect to get your money back in like 15 months. And if you're lucky ducky, your friend'll get back 40 cents on the dollar. Boom." Summerland exclaims.

"15 months?" Ana questions, turning to Harper. "he doesn't have that time, he has to pay for Henry's tuition and he'll have to tell his son that he can't afford to pay for his dream school and-"

"Runt" Harper interrupts, pulling her a little away from Summerland. "You can't help everyone. You can't. Some people don't want your help and sometimes, despite everything you do, you can't help them.

"I know you feel like a disappointment right now because you've spent your entire life helping people but you did all you could for Nolan. Which was a lot, it'll expedite Nolan's case and he will get his money back, thanks to you, don't forget that" Harper finishes.

"yes, ma'am" Ana nods. "thank you"

"Here" Harper says, handing Ana her extra house key she gave to Tim.

"b-but-" Ana starts, softly.

"Bradford gave it to me to give to you. You can't help everyone and you need to accept that. So you're going to go home tonight, give your grandparents back the key and whatever they end up doing is not your fault. You warned them, you went above and beyond and you did your best, that is all that matters" Harper assures her, making Ana smile weakly.

[Timeskip]

There's a knock at Ana's apartment door. Ana walks over and answers it.

"Nolan?" Ana asks, confused on why he's here.

"Um, Tim told me you like food, so I brought you some of your favorite snacks according to Tim" Nolan explains.

"But you're already struggling with money-" Ana starts to protest.

"Not anymore, with you and Harper's lead, we managed to track down the head honcho of the entire operation, my money's been returned as has the money of the other victims, thank you for doing all of this" Nolan says.

"of course" Ana says, softly, accepting the food and smiling.

Later in bed that night, Ana stares up at the ceiling, tired and stressed but also proud of herself.

"I can't take care of everyone, but I can help people, even if it's not everyone" Ana promises herself.

{Hi, I need a favor. So some people are talking about a Tim x Lucy x Ana relationship and others just want Tim x Ana. I've done a lot research on polyamorous relationships and written a few drafts and brainstormed how I'd use it in the story. Since I now feel more comfortable writing polyamorous relationship, I need to know what y'all want. So if you could please comment, even if you don't usually comment, and just tell me. I'm going to just go with the majority. I need to know by the time I finishes season two because I need to know for my plans for season three. I plan to have season two done by Sunday and I only have five episodes left. Thank you so much for all of the votes and follows and comments. I adore reading y'alls comments and hearing your opinions and I always get excited when I get a comment notification. Anyway, thank you again and if you could please comment your opinion, it'd be super helpful for me so I can write the best story.}
