[Thank you all for commenting on the previous episode and please keep sharing your opinions, I love reading y'all's comments. I'm gonna keep track of the opinions until Sunday, so there's like an unofficial deadlines just as a heads up. I'm hoping to get Sixteen and Seventeen done tonight, then Eighteen, Nineteen and Twenty on Saturday and start on Season Three - which I'm very excited for - on Sunday. Also the gifs still aren't working, chrome is struggling to download them or something? I don't know but I'm gonna try and figure it out so next episodes have gifs instead of edits.]

"Why the suit?" Grace asks as the team is there to give blood.

Tim is dressed in a suit and Ana is sitting next to him, already donating blood.

"Court appearance." Tim replies, curtly.

"Ever given blood before?" Grace questions.

"Every eight weeks, like clockwork." Tim answers.

"Good for you."

"Yeah, save lives, get a personal oil change. It's win-win." Tim shrugs.

"I didn't know machines had blood." Harper teases, making Ana giggle.

"Don't laugh at that, runt, I'm half convinced you're a machine too, only a computer could manage all the things you worry about" Harper says.

"they're all important" Ana pouts.

"no, they're really not. you called me in the middle of the night worried about a ladybug that you found in your room, you thought it had too many spots" Tim argues and Ana just gives him a sheepish smile.

"How's it going, Mr. AB Negative?" Grace asks Nolan.

"Good. Donating blood is bringing back some complicated memories of when Henry was born. He had TOF. I spent a lot of time in the hospital banking blood." Nolan explains.

"I had no idea." Grace frowns.

"What's TOF?" Lucy asks.

"Tetralogy of Fallot. It's a heart defect." Nolan replies.

"Four defects, actually." Grace corrects.

"It's corrected by surgery. Three of them he had before he was a year old. Since we share the same rare blood type, I donated approximately 16 gallons." Nolan says.

"How is he doing now?" Ana asks, softly.

"All his checkups have been fantastic. Thank God." Nolan says.

"Make sure you drink the whole thing down." Grace tells Grey, who just put down his juice box.

"Woman, I'm a grown-ass man. I don't need a juice box." Grey answers, starting to stand up before wavering and falling back down into his seat.

"Whoa. You okay?" Grace asks.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine." Grey says, brushing her off.

"Sir, did you just faint?" Nolan questions, raising an eyebrow.

"No, I briefly succumbed to gravity." Grey replies, making everyone laugh.

"I need to get a restraining order." A man says, approaching Ana who is working the front desk.

"alright, who is it against?" Ana asks, softly.

"My cat. Meow Tse Tung." The man answers.

"um, I'm really sorry but we can only file restraining orders against humans" Ana says, softly.

"Don't you want to know what he did?" The man questions.

"I'm more of a dog person" Ana giggles, softly, before the man glares at her. "um, but have a great day."

Ana watches him walk away.

"Let's go runt, I got a personal emergency and I want you" Harper says, walking over.

"oh, what's going on?" Ana asks, softly, rushing after Harper to get to the garage.

"I want you to exist and stand quietly, not talk or say anything, understood?" Harper corrects.

"understood, ma'am" Ana nods, familiar with Harper being in moods where she wants Ana to shut up.

[Timeskip]

"Nyla! Is that you? It's been too long!" A woman says, walking over to Harper and Ana while they're getting out at Donovan's house.

"Yeah, no, yeah. It sure has." Harper replies, awkwardly.

"Sorry about you and Donovan. You were always such a lovely family. Benjamin and I are in a bit of a rough patch right now, too. Why are relationships so hard?" The woman says, trying to make small talk.

"Because most people suck." Harper dead pans.

"Well, I-I'll let you go. I hope to see you around more often." The woman says before scampering off.

"Oh, yeah. You, too." Harper calls as she leaves.

"who was she?" Ana asks, softly, as they approach the front door.

"No clue. Don and I bought this house while I was neck-deep in undercover work. I could barely focus on my family, let alone the neighbors." Harper responds, before hesitating as they walk up to the front door.

"Are you okay?" Ana asks, softly.

"Uh, yeah. No, I just — I haven't been inside since we separated." Harper explains, making Ana nod.

"Hey." Don says, answering the door.

"Hi." Harper replies.

"Hello, sir, it's lovely to see you again" Ana smiles.

"Yeah. You, too. Come on in." Don responds, stepping aside so they can enter.

"Wow. You redecorated." Harper remarks as they enter.

"Yeah. Place needed some new energy." Don answers.

"So, uh, did you hire a decorator, or..." Harper trails off.

"No. Did it all myself." Don replies.

"Oh." Harper exhales, making both Ana and Don turn to look at her, confused.

"What?" Don asks.

"Nothing." Harper responds.

"No. You said, "Oh."" Don insists.

"I — It — You just never really had — had style before." Harper explains, before her daughter comes running over.

"Mommy!" Lila exclaims.

"Hi, baby. Mm. Let's go talk in your room, 'kay?" Harper says, letting Lila lead her up to her room.

"Something to drink?" Don offers Ana.

"No, thank you, sir, I hear Lila's been struggling" Ana says, softly.

"She's been having nightmares on and off for over a year, ever since... it happened." Don trails off.

"what happened?" Ana asks, softly.

"It was right before we split. Nyla had been working undercover for almost a year, had barely come home. We were in a bad place, but we were trying to make it work. And then she took Lila to the supermarket. You know why we moved out here?" Don asks.

"well it's a beautiful neighborhood" Ana says, softly.

"'Cause it was nowhere near where Nyla worked. She couldn't run the risk of running into a criminal who knew her as someone else on the street." Don answers.

"someone recognized her at the store?" Ana asks, softly.

"A drug dealer she'd put away. He recognized her. And tried to kill her in front of my daughter." Don explains, making Ana's eyes widen.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything." Don apologizes, seeing Ana's face.

"No, I just-" Ana starts.

"What? What's going on?" Harper questions, coming down the stairs.

"Just chatting, how'd it go?" Ana asks, softly.

"Uh, Lila says it wasn't a ghost and it wasn't a nightmare. And I believe her." Harper answers, knowing something is off with her runt.

"Then what was it?" Don asks.

"I don't know. But, um, I would like to stay here tonight, maybe do some surveillance, if that's okay." Harper suggests.

"You really think that's necessary?" Don raises an eyebrow.

"Well, Lila needs to see that we're taking her seriously." Harper explains.

"Oh, and I don't?" Don questions.

"I-I d-don't think she meant it like that" Ana stutters out, feeling the tension between the divorced couple.

"It's not. I ju—" Harper stops herself to chuckle nervously.

"just want to be here for her." Harper finishes.

"Okay. Sure. Come back tonight." Don agrees.

[Timeskip]

"Okay. Don told you about what happened." Harper says as they leave the house.

"I'm so sorry, it sounds terrible" Ana says, softly.

"Yeah, it was, and he used it against me in court. He convinced the judge that Lila wasn't safe around me unsupervised. That was also terrible." Harper responds.

"What is it?" Ana asks, softly, as Harper walks around the lawn and looks up at a second story window.

"Uh, Lila's room is right there. She said the woman with the blood on her hands was right about here. Does that look like blood to you?" Harper questions.

"Maybe, I can't really tell from here, do you want me to call in forensics?" Ana questions, softly.

"For a ghost hunt? No, they'd laugh me off the radio." Harper shakes her head.

"I don't mind being laughed at, ma'am" Ana volunteers, softly.

"I appreciate that, but odds are it's nothing. All right, uh, back to work." Harper decides and starts walking back to the cruiser.

[Timeskip]

"Hey." Don says, answering the door.

"Hey, I told you Ana was tagging with me?" Harper asks.

Ana waves at Don, holding a small duffel bag that contains her and Harper's stuff.

"Yeah. Just about to get dinner started. Either of you hungry?" Don asks.

"yes, please" Ana says, softly.

"Um, I could eat." Harper replies, giving Ana a look to shut up, which she does.

"Hey, Mama." Lila says, coming over.

"Hi, baby." Harper smiles.

"I can take the couch tonight if you two want the bed." Don offers.

"No, sleep in my room." Lila begs. "you and your nice friend"

Ana smiles when Lila calls her nice.

"No, we will take the couch because we are not here to sleep. We're here to keep an eye out, right?" Harper asks, talking to Ana.

"yes, ma'am" Ana says, softly.

"Ohh. Wow." Harper says as she lays down on the couch.

"What?" Don asks.

"Uh, nothing. It's just... a little stiff." Harper replies, sitting up.

"No, it's not. It's structured." Don defends.

"Mm-hmm. Did daddy really pick this couch out himself?" Harper asks Lila.

"No. The lady helped him." Lila replies.

"What lady?" Harper questions.

"The lady from the store. Go wash your hands for dinner." Don says, cutting off the conversation.

"Am I in trouble?" Lila asks.

"Oh, no, honey. I am." Harper says and Lila walks off.

Ana shifts a little uncomfortably.

"Don't do that. Do not use her to get information about me." Don scolds.

"I wa— I wasn't doing that. I-I didn't...mean..." Harper stutters.

"You always mean to. This..." Don starts.

"um, ma'am, can I borrow you for just a second?" Ana pipes up, very uncomfortable.

Harper and Ana walk out to the front porch.

"I think he's seeing someone. This place looks way too nice." Harper hisses.

"b-but, you are divorced, he's allowed to see people" Ana points out, softly.

"It's not about that. It's about him bringing someone into our child's life that I have never met." Harper shuts down.

"okay" Ana squeaks out, not believing her in the slightest but just going along with it.

[Timeskip]

"Lila's very talented" Ana offers, softly, looking at Lila's artwork.

"Art has been a really great outlet for her. It's been a tough year." Don explains.

"For all of us." Harper butts in.

"But especially for Lila." Don says, tersely.

"Oh yeah, when my grandparents got divorced, it felt like I was walking on eggshells, I didn't realize how much it affected me until recently" Ana says, softly.

"He does not believe this, but, yes, I feel the exact same way." Harper agrees.

"Why are you putting words in my mouth?" Don questions, becoming angry.

"Are you saying that you've never said that?" Harper asks.

"We're not having this fight right now." Don decides.

"let's do that" Ana agrees, softly, very uncomfortable

"Oh, great. So now you're taking his side?" Harper accuses, turning on Ana.

"N-no, sorry" Ana stutters out, shrinking in on herself.

"You know what? How about we just get this out into the open? You are obviously allowed to date someone new." Harper announces.

"Thank you?" Don asks, confused.

"But you should have introduced me to her before bringing her into our daughter's world." Harper continues.

"What are you talking about? I'm not dating anyone." Don insists.

"Okay, so, I'm just supposed to believe you redecorated all by yourself?" Harper questions.

"Yeah. You are." Don nods.

"You were using towels as curtains when I met you. Okay, you know what? We agreed we would take it slow and we would give each other the courtesy of meeting whomever we were dating." Harper argues.

"Again, not dating anyone." Don insists.

"I don't think he's dating anyone" Ana says, softly.

"I'm sure before your grandparents started dating other people, they talked to each other about who would be in your life" Harper insists.

"um... no, not really" Ana says, softly. "I just-... I mean, I think there's actively a stripper at my apartment, so I don't really-... my grandparents didn't really shelter me-"

"What you guys talking about?" Lila asks, interrupting Ana's rambling.

[Timeskip]

"Wow. Wind is really picking up." Ana observes, looking out the window.

"I'll take the chair. You take the couch." Harper decides.

"No, I'll take the chair, you can have the couch" Ana argues, softly.

"Trust me, you are getting the worst end of the deal." Harper says, making Ana raise an eyebrow.

Ana thought that Harper complaining about his couch was just her trying to get under his skin.

"be my guest" Harper gestures and Ana lays down.

"Wow." Ana states, it's incredibly stiff.

"Right?!" Harper exclaims.

"What?! I mean..." Ana trails off, looking out the windo.

"I know." Harper agrees, not noticing how Ana is paying attention to something else.

"what?" Harper asks, seeing how Ana stands up and approaches the window.

"I think that's a ghost, ma'am" Ana murmurs, softly.

[Timeskip]

"Police!" Ana exclaims as they walk out of the house and towards a woman holding a shotgun.

"Drop your weapon!" Harper yells.

"It has to die!" The lady screams.

"Ma'am, please put the shotgun down" Ana orders, and the lady obeys.

"Turn around. Hands on your head. Interlace your fingers. What the hell are you doing?" Harper asks while Ana kicks the shotgun a little aways with her foot.

"Hunting." The lady replies.

"Who?" Harper questions.

"It." The lady answers.

"Who is 'it', ma'am?" Ana asks, softly.

"The coyote that killed my Snowball." The lady explains.

"Your what?" Harper asks, with both her and Ana confused.

"My Westie." The lady whines.

"Your dog?" Ana asks.

"My baby. We went out for a walk last night, and a coyote attacked us." The lady cries.

"is that what happened to your hand?" Ana questions, softly, seeing a cut on the lady's palm.

"I tried to get between them. I fell. Snowball ran. She was so scared. The coyote went after her, and I haven't seen her since. That damn jackal! He — He murdered her! I know it!" The lady insists.

[Timeskip]

"Did you arrest her?" Don asks.

"We took the shotgun and cited her, but good news is that we solved the ghost mystery" Ana says, softly.

"Thank you. And, uh, I can tell Lila in the morning." Don decides.

"I'd like to peek in on her before I go." Harper requests.

"um... can I?" Ana asks, softly.

She really wants to escape what has been a very awkward evening.

"yeah, of course, see you tomorrow" Harper says.

Ana smiles and leaves the house, before seeing a little white dog.

"Oh, Snowball!" Ana exclaims, the dog comes over and sniffs her. "How are you doing, baby? We thought something happened to you, let's go find your owner, yeah? She'll be so excited to see you"

Ana talks in a baby noise and pets the very eager and happy dog.

"here, come here, baby" Ana says, moving to pick up Snowball only to be hit in the back of the head with a shovel and go unconscious.

[Timeskip]

"I don't want this." Griffin says.

Griffin, the over friendly neighbor from earlier has Ana's wrist zip tied together in her home.

"I don't think anyone wants this" Ana says, softly, looking over at Griffin's husband, Benjamin, who appears to be drugged.

"Don't talk about Benjamin! Don't even look at him!" Griffin shrieks.

"What's going on?" Ana asks, softly, trying to wriggle out of the zip tie but only hurting her wrists.

"He tried to leave me. So I-I needed to show him that he still loved me." Griffin explains, obviously a little insane

"so you drugged him?" Ana asks, softly.

"He was making too much noise. He w— wouldn't listen. Now he hears me. A-And I'm winning him back. And we were almost happy again and then you showed up outside and I couldn't let you find him. I — You can't be here. Okay, c— You're gonna ruin everything!" Griffin yells at Ana.

"Then let me leave" Ana pleads, softly.

Ana hates how sometimes that works, sometimes people will just let her go like she won't arrest them. But she still uses the tactic, because she's a cop and she has to. But she really wishes people were just smarter.

"I'm not stupid. You're a cop. I can't just let you go. We ju— We can't have you here. We s— We need our privacy. I have to kill you." Griffin decides, making Ana wish Griffin wasn't smart enough to take her service gun.

[Timeskip]

"Ohh. Ohh." Ana says when she sees Griffin with a gun.

"I need to do this. For Benjamin. I love you so much. I can't lose you." Griffin cries.

"if you kill me, you'll most definitely lose him" Ana reasons, softly.

Griffin struggles for a moment with the gun.

"w-wait, if you do it, it'll be so loud and the neighbors will call the police" Ana suggests, softly.

"Damn it, he's right. You're right. Oh, God. What am I gonna do? Benjamin, help me. I-I could stab him to death. Ah, no, no. All the blood. Even if I clean it up, they — they'll find it because they have the sprays and — and the lights and the... I know." Griffin stalks back and forth.

"I could beat you to death." Griffin realizes.

"There will be even more blood" Ana shuts down.

"You die if you can't breathe. I know that. I mean, that's just basic biology." Griffin says as she starts to put duct tape over Ana's mouth and nose.

Griffin is stopped when the doorbell rings.

"That was Nyla. I really hope she gets back with Don. We always had so much fun with them. Remember?" Griffin says, trying to drown Ana.

Harper bursts in and saves her.

"Hey. Hey. You alright?" Harper asks, helping Ana remember to breathe.

"I gotcha. I gotcha." Harper assures as Ana vomits some water she swallowed.

[Timeskip]

"not to self, don't be drowned again" Ana murmurs, her throat still sore from inhaling some water. She rolls over in bed and turns off the light, curling around a pillow.

Said pillowcase is one of Tim's old shirts that Ana might've stolen out of his locker.
