Sinan's face turned colder, her eyes narrowing slightly. She didn't appreciate Li Mingjun's persistence, especially after she had made it clear multiple times that she wasn't interested.
"Li Mingjun, I've told you before, I'm not interested. Please leave," Sinan said, her voice firm and resolute.
Li Mingjun, seemingly unfazed by her words, chuckled lightly, "Come on, Sinan, I'm just being friendly. And I brought this pork for you."
Sinan glanced at the pork he was holding, "I appreciate the gesture, but I don't need it. Please leave."
Noticing Sinan's stern expression, Yao Yao, who was standing beside her, clutched her mother's skirt tightly, sensing her mother's discomfort.
Li Mingjun hesitated for a moment, looking like he was contemplating whether to stay or leave. But under Sinan's unwavering gaze, he finally sighed, realizing he wasn't welcome.
"Fine, if that's how you feel," he said, a hint of annoyance in his voice as he turned to leave.
Sinan watched him drive away, her heart still racing from the encounter. She felt a mix of frustration and relief. Frustration at Li Mingjun's audacity and relief that he had finally left.
She picked up Yao Yao, who was still clinging to her, and walked back inside the house. Closing the door behind her, she took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart.
It was clear to Sinan that she needed to be more assertive in setting boundaries with Li Mingjun. She couldn't let him think he had any chance with her, no matter how persistent he was.
Sinan sighed, understanding the delicate situation she was in. She couldn't just confront Zhou Yue Shen about Li Mingjun without proper evidence or causing unnecessary friction between family members.
After placing the pork in the kitchen, Sinan sat down on the sofa, deep in thought. She needed to find a way to subtly let Zhou Yue Shen know about Li Mingjun's intentions without causing too much drama.
As she was pondering over this, Yao Yao, who had been playing quietly, came over and tugged at her mother's sleeve, "Mommy, who was that man?"
Sinan smiled gently, trying to ease her daughter's curiosity, "Just someone from the village, sweetheart. Don't worry about it."
But Yao Yao was persistent, "He looked scary. Is he a bad guy?"
Sinan hugged Yao Yao, "No, darling, he's not a bad guy. Just someone mommy doesn't want to talk to. But don't worry, mommy will handle it."
Yao Yao nodded, though still looking a bit concerned. Sinan kissed her daughter's forehead and promised herself that she would find a way to handle the situation without causing any harm to her family's relationships.
Later that evening, as Zhou Yue Shen returned home, Sinan hesitated for a moment before bringing up Li Mingjun, "Yue Shen, about Li Mingjun..."
Zhou Yue Shen raised an eyebrow, sensing that there was something Sinan wanted to discuss, "What about him?"
Sinan took a deep breath, "I just wanted to say that he brought some pork today, and... well, he seemed a bit too eager to see me. I just thought you should know."
Zhou Yue Shen's expression darkened slightly, "I see. Thanks for letting me know. I'll handle it."
Though Sinan was relieved that Zhou Yue Shen didn't seem angry or upset, she couldn't help but worry about the consequences of her revelation. She hoped that Zhou Yue Shen would understand her concerns and take the necessary steps to handle Li Mingjun appropriately.
Neither of these two can stay.
Just as she was pondering how to deal with the matter of Aunt Liu, the next day she received a notice from the police station asking them to come over.
She thought it was to deal with the Liu Aunt matter, but she found out that Aunt Liu had already been taken away. The person who picked her up was none other than Zhou Yue's younger sister, Zhou Tingting. It's said that she was released on bail under Zhou Yue's name.
The police saw the identity, confirmed it was from the Zhou family, and assumed that both sides had privately settled the matter, so they didn't think much of it.
Only when Zhou Yue's friend found out about it and contacted the Zhou family did they know about it. By the time they received the call, Aunt Liu had already left.
Zi Nian was thinking of waiting for Zhou Yue to come back and tell him about it, to see how to handle it. Unexpectedly, the person they needed to deal with had already come knocking.
"Tingting, it's her! It's that vixen who falsely accused me of stealing and ruined our relationship! You have to take care of this matter, or else your family's assets will be taken away by someone else!"
Turning towards the voice, Zi Nian saw Aunt Liu, limping and leaning on a crutch, standing next to a woman with a leather bag, a tight-fitting skirt, and high heels.
The woman looked to be around twenty-seven or twenty-eight, with sharp, alert eyes, clearly a scheming person.
"You're the Lin family daughter who tricked my brother into marriage?"
Before Zi Nian could speak, the woman sneered in disgust, "Dream on! As long as I'm around, you'll never set foot in the Zhou family's door."
"Your Zhou family?" Zi Nian couldn't help but chuckle. Zhou Yue Shen was a good person, but he seemed to attract quite a few troublesome people around him.
"No doubt! Pack up and get out now! The Zhou family doesn't welcome you!" Zhou Tingting had already learned from Aunt Liu that they weren't even married or had official documentation yet!
This shameless woman had moved into the Zhou family house as if it was her own, and her true nature was obvious. She was merely relying on her looks to seduce her brother. Before even entering the family, she was overstepping her bounds, not only driving away Aunt Liu but also ruining the relationship between the two families!
"What happens in the Zhou family stays in the Zhou family. I married Zhou Yue Shen, not the Zhou family. What right do you have to drive me away?" Zi Nian replied calmly without much emotion on her face.
Upon hearing this, Zhou Tingting exploded with anger, "Aunt Liu was right about you not being a good person!"
Zi Nian sneered, "So, by telling me to get lost right off the bat, you're the good one here?"
"You!" Zhou Tingting's face flushed red.
"Open the door!" She kicked the large iron gate forcefully, making a harsh sound. She couldn't wait to get in and teach this woman a lesson for taking over her family.
With an insolent gesture, Zi Nian flipped her the bird, "You told me to get lost, right? Isn't this your home? Why should I open the door for you?"
Zhou Tingting's face distorted with rage. Ever since she moved to the city, everyone had treated her with respect. This was the first time someone had ignored her. Furious, she pointed at Zi Nian and yelled, "Who do you think you are? My brother won't marry because of Yang Yu Jie. Do you really think he's interested in you? You've only been here for a few days and already acting like the lady of the house?"
"Zhou Tingting!" Just as Zhou Tingting was shouting, a low, cold voice interrupted her.
"What are you doing?"
Startled, Zhou Tingting turned to see Zhou Yue Shen's tall figure approaching with a stern face. Suddenly, he seemed like a different person, complaining, "Brother, this woman is bullying me and won't let me into the house! Get her out of here!"
Aunt Liu was standing by, enjoying the drama as if she was certain of Zi Nian's unfortunate fate. Zhou Tingting was known for holding grudges; if you offended her, you'd have a hard time!
"So, this is your reason for kicking the door?" Zhou Yue Shen stared at her coldly, devoid of any emotion.
"I... she provoked me first!" Zhou Tingting hastily shifted the blame onto Zi Nian. Pointing at Zi Nian, she exclaimed, "She's malicious! She falsely accused Aunt Liu of stealing and even ruined the relationship between our families. Now she's keeping me out!"
Recalling her reason for coming today, Zhou Tingting immediately regained her confidence, accusing Zi Nian with indignation, "Who told you she didn't steal anything?" Zhou Yue Shen's voice was deep and serious.
"It's unthinkable!" Zhou Tingting insisted, "Aunt Liu is not that kind of person. She even took care of me when I was little!"
She couldn't believe Aunt Liu would steal. She wasn't foolish enough to trust a stranger over someone she'd known for decades. Besides, if Aunt Liu wanted to steal, she would have done it long ago. Why would she choose a time when she was around?
"So, you took it upon yourself to bail her out from the police station?" Zhou Yue Shen asked calmly.
"Of course! If Aunt Liu didn't steal, why should she be locked up? She's taken care of the eldest and the others for so long. Even if she has no merit, she has done her share of hard work. How can you be so heartless to an old woman like her?" Zhou Tingting was furious. If her good friend hadn't called her about this, she wouldn't have known about it.
She had only brought Aunt Liu back the night before last. Due to Aunt Liu's serious injury, she had let her rest at home for two days. After learning the details of the situation, she had come over.
"Alright," Zhou Yue Shen nodded, then turned to the onlookers at the door. "Aunt Wang, could you please tell us how much groceries Aunt Liu bought from your place?"
Aunt Wang, a plump woman, stepped forward with a sneer. "Every time she only buys one yuan's worth of vegetables, and they are always the leftover scraps we can't sell. I remember it very clearly."
Hearing this, Aunt Liu was stunned. Her forced smile froze on her face, and she immediately reacted with fervor. "You, you're talking nonsense!"
"Who's talking nonsense? Every time you come, you always go for the cheapest items. I even advised you about it before, and you told me to mind my own business!" Aunt Wang retorted sarcastically.
After hearing Aunt Wang's words, Zhou Yue Shen's eyes showed an indescribable emotion. His voice was calm, but those who knew him well could tell he was furious. "I give you thirty yuan as your monthly salary and twenty yuan for groceries, and this is how you take care of the children."
Since Zi Nian had arrived, he had sensed that something was off. So, he had someone look into it. Sure enough, Aunt Liu was not just a bit greedy!
"Aunt Zhang, what do you say?" Zhou Yue Shen calmly asked again.
Aunt Zhang quickly said, "The other day, when I came out to fetch water, Aunt Liu slipped and fell. Out of her basket fell a large piece of meat and some rice. I even took a closer look at it."
With so many people in Aunt Liu's family and their poor conditions, they couldn't possibly afford so many good things to eat. Even if Zhou Yue Shen were to provide for them, he certainly wouldn't give them that much. They are not fools. Does anyone still have any doubts after hearing this?
Even Zhou Tingting was stunned. This meant that Aunt Liu had been harsh on her nephews and had secretly taken good things from the Zhou family? Being caught red-handed meant this wasn't the first time this had happened.
With twenty yuan a month and three kids, they could afford quite a bit of good food.
"This is a false accusation, all false!" Aunt Liu hastily denied.
Zhou Yue Shen's expression was extremely cold. "I didn't want to make this a big deal, but I didn't expect you, Aunt Liu, not only to not realize your mistakes but to also worsen the situation. It seems I've been too kind to you."
Not long after Zhou Yue Shen finished speaking, a police car arrived.
Let me know if you need any more adjustments!
Aunt Liu was taken away before she could even plead for mercy.
"Zhou Tingting, this is my family matter, and I don't need you meddling. I'm not stupid enough to be manipulated by others. Go back!" Zhou Yue Shen said sternly.
Zhou Tingting trembled. Her brother had never been this angry with her. It must be because of that vile woman, right? And even if Aunt Liu had taken some food, it couldn't have been as excessive as they claimed. Maybe this woman had bribed people to join in the accusations! She's truly malicious.
Sinen didn't understand why Zhou Tingting was glaring at her when it was Zhou Yue Shen who told her to leave.
Back at home, Zhou Tingting was so angry she felt like smashing everything. But the next moment, she noticed her jewelry box wasn't closed properly. Frowning, she opened it and instantly paled.
With a stern face, she stormed out of the house and sharply questioned her mother who was cooking in the kitchen, "Mom, did you take my jade pendant?!"
