The eldest brother of the Lin family

Who would've thought that Fu Yang, who had always looked down on Si Nian, would be so angered by those words?

He had often upset Si Nian and treated her far worse than Lin Sisi. Even when Si Nian traveled all the way to the military base to see him, he wouldn't spare her a second glance. Yet, Si Nian never complained and endured silently. On the other hand, Lin Sisi, over a few unkind words, had threatened to break off the engagement, making him feel trapped.

Hearing his sister's words now, he snapped, "What did you say?"

Though he was sure that the intimacy between Si Nian and Zhou Yue Shen was probably just to provoke him, the more he thought about it, the more uneasy he felt. His patience with Lin Sisi was wearing thin.

Now, even his family insisted he should go and appease her.

It's crazy! He had never even comforted Si Nian, so why should he do it for Lin Sisi?

Hearing his sister's words, he narrowed his eyes dangerously, glaring at her.

"Quite audacious of you! You and that Lin Sisi can't get along, and you blame it on Si Nian?!"

Fu Qianqian rolled her eyes.

If she hadn't met Zhou Yue Shen, she might've almost believed that Si Nian had really ruined their relationship. But after her trip to the countryside and seeing Si Nian's comfortable life with her handsome, successful truck-driving husband, she couldn't see any reason for Si Nian to do such a thing.

In terms of wealth, Si Nian was no less than the Fu family. In terms of appearance, she was even better.

As for temperament, she would be completely outmatched!

Forget about Si Nian; even she knew whom to side with.

Now, everything became clear to her. The idea that Si Nian ruined their relationship was just an excuse to shift the blame because they couldn't get along.

Fu Yang's face darkened immediately at his sister's sarcasm.

"When did I ever blame her? Explain yourself!" he demanded.

"When Lin Sisi claimed she ruined your relationship with Si Nian and demanded you break off the engagement to be with her, why didn't you clarify? It made everyone think that Si Nian couldn't let go of you, so she destroyed your marriage."

Caught off guard, Fu Yang blurted out, "Isn't it true?"

Fu Qianqian raised an eyebrow, puzzled.

Is he insane? Seriously.

Her brother must be out of his mind.

In the village of Happiness, the Zhou family.

Si Nian was looking at the rabbit in her hands, unsure of how to handle it.

She had planned to wait for Zhou Yue Shen to deal with it.

However, he said he'd be back too late tonight, and it wouldn't be fresh by then.

Si Nian had been looking forward to spicy rabbit dish for dinner, but as for skinning and cleaning it, she didn't dare.

Now, she didn't know where to start.

Beside her, Yao Yao was squatting, feeding cabbage to the little rabbits.

The little rabbits were no longer afraid, their mouths munching on the veggies with a crisp sound, smelling delightful. Seeing this, Yao Yao couldn't resist putting some veggies into her own mouth.

"Silly girl, the rabbit has eaten that!" Zhou Yue Shen scolded his sister while feeding the rabbit himself, his face filled with affection.

Yao Yao, with her finger in her mouth, looked at him blankly and then continued feeding the rabbit.

Just then, someone arrived at the door.

Lin's mother, accompanied by a tall but very lean man, stood at the door of the Si family's home, knocking.

"Nian Nian, open the door."

Si Nian looked up, her eyes lighting up upon seeing the visitors. She quickly got up to open the door and ushered them in. The man behind her kept his eyes on her, appearing both awkward and surprised.

He had a silent and honest appearance. His skin was as dark as coal. Though not as tall and muscular as Zhou Yue Shen, he had solid muscles. Despite his dark complexion, it was clear he was quite handsome, bearing some resemblance to her.

Clearly, the Lin family genes were strong.

At a glance, she knew he was her cousin, Lin Xiao.

"Mom, is this my big brother?"

"Yes, Xiao Xiao, this is your sister Nian Nian."

"H-hello," Lin Xiao, looking up at the tall and burly man, spoke timidly and stuttered. It seemed he could hardly believe that the sister who had avoided meeting them multiple times was now back, standing right in front of him.

From what his mother told him, she not only forgave the past but was also willing to marry Zhou Yue Shen, who was previously engaged to Lin Sisi, and even asked Zhou Yue Shen to help him find a job.

A job at a farm, a position many couldn't even dream of getting.

At this moment, for him to be able to help with driving the truck, especially given his recent learning, it was almost unbelievable for Lin Xiao to have such an opportunity. He had always been skeptical, but seeing Si Nian, he inexplicably felt relieved.

Perhaps this was the charm of blood ties. From the moment he saw her, his impression of his little sister was favorable. She didn't seem arrogant or look down on them.

Si Nian looked at her dear elder brother and giggled, "Don't be so formal, just call me Nian Nian."

The sweet address of 'elder brother' melted Lin Xiao's heart. His face broke into a sincere smile as he nodded vigorously.

"It's perfect timing that you're here, big brother. I was just wondering how to handle this rabbit. Can you help me out? I'll prepare some delicious food for you," Si Nian pointed at the rabbit on the ground, looking troubled.

Lin's mother chuckled and asked her son to handle it. With a concerned tone, she pulled her daughter aside, "Nian Nian, your brother has only just started learning. I'm really worried. Even though Yue Shen said it's fine, you should still talk to him and make sure he's careful, don't worry about us, just to avoid any accidents."

Si Nian nodded, "Mom, I understand. Yue Shen must have some confidence in his skills. Whether he can do it or not, we'll know once he tries."

Lin's mother thought about it and nodded in agreement.

Lin Xiao worked quickly, and in no time, he skinned and cleaned the rabbit, cutting it into the small pieces Si Nian needed. Si Nian planned to use half of it for soup and the other half for spicy rabbit cubes. Rabbit meat was deliciously fresh, and it was perfect to use the mushrooms she had picked earlier for the soup.

First, he added scallions, ginger, and cooking wine to remove the gamey smell, then blanched it with boiling water to get rid of any blood. After adding an appropriate amount of water, he boiled it over high heat.

Stewing soup takes a long time; simmering it over low heat for at least an hour and a half is necessary. With family visiting, Si Nian prepared extra dishes. Lin's mother helped on the side, watching her daughter's skilled movements with a mix of heartache and pride.

Seeing they were running out of firewood, Lin Xiao immediately stood up and soon returned carrying a large bundle of firewood.

Once the soup was ready, Si Nian began steaming the rice. She had steamed a pot of rice the previous night, so it would only take about ten minutes to be ready.

The seasonings and vegetables were all prepared in advance. First, she fried pork lard to get the oil residue, then scooped it out and added chili and Sichuan peppercorns to stir-fry. The nose-tingling chili aroma filled the air, but the tantalizing spicy fragrance made her mouth water.

Just as the dishes were being served, a loud knock sounded on the large iron door.
