"hold on just a minute, Tim will come get you, he's just grabbing the bags" Aaron says, opening the passenger door to see Ana trying to get out.

"n-no, wanna try to walk" Ana insists, weakly.

"I don't know if that's the best idea" Aaron frowns.

"please" Ana whispers.

"okay" Aaron agrees, hesitantly, helping her out of the car.

Her legs are trembling like a fawn's, and she grips Aarons hands tightly as she takes slow step after slow step. Each movement makes her heart beat faster and sweat bead down her face.

"hey, hey, babylove, you already practiced today, we don't want to push you" Tim rushes over, easily sweeping Ana into his arms.

"I wanna walk again" Ana murmurs.

"I know, love, and you're doing so good with the physical therapy but we just have to be patient" Tim soothes.

"come on, let's get you in the house" Angela says, walking over.

Ana nods, letting Tim carry her into the little beach house them and the team are staying at and setting her down on the couch.

"hey, Ana, you want a blanket?" Lucy asks, sitting down next to Ana and offering her a blanket.

"yes, please" Ana nods and Lucy spreads the blanket over her legs and allows Ana to curl into her side.

Tim and Angela watch from the kitchen as Ana and Lucy cuddle on the couch.

"how's she been doing?" Angela asks.

"it's been rough" Tim sighs. "we have to dialysis every night and she's getting frustrated, just wants to be able to not feel weak anymore"

"she blames herself?" Angela guesses.

"yeah" Tim nods. "doctors say that since it hit her directly in the liver, her entire body will be weak for a while"

"that sucks" Angela sighs. "you think this beach trip will cheer her up a little?"

"I'm hoping it will" Tim responds. "she-... she feels useless, cries herself to sleep every night and I can't do anything about it"

"you're not useless either, you're helping her a lot by staying" Angela assures him.

"god, she's so damn selfless, she could be so much further along in her recovery if she had just let Carmen fall" Tim groans.

"but you love her" Angela reminds him.

"I do, I love her more than I've loved anyone else" Tim agrees.

"we're making carnitas tonight, to hopefully help her mood, even if only a little bit" Angela tells him.

"that sounds good, I've tried and it does cheer her up, but mostly because of how much I fail and it makes her laugh." Tim smiles.

"that works too" Angela grins.

[Meanwhile...]

"how are you feeling?" Lucy asks Ana.

"okay, kinda hurts to talk" Ana admits.

"we don't have to talk if you don't want to" Lucy assures her.

"no, I don't mind" Ana murmurs.

"what's the doctor saying?" Lucy inquires.

"at least six more months and no chance for having babies in the future" Ana explains, softly.

"it made you infertile?" Lucy frowns.

"no, just the pregnancy itself would be too hard for my body to handle" Ana elaborates, softly.

"have you and Tim-" Lucy starts.

"no, no, not yet" Ana whispers.

"have you ever-" Lucy asks.

"no, I haven't, Tim said there was no rush before everything and now he refuses to until I'm able to walk on my own again" Ana murmurs.

"how long does the doctor say that will be?" Lucy questions.

"three or so more months" Ana says, softly. "and then another three before I'm fit enough to go back to work"

"is Tim going to stay home with you the entire time?" Lucy asks.

"he wants to, I'm trying to convince him to go back to work, I know how much he loves his job" Ana whispers.

"and he knows how much you love your job" Lucy frowns.

"but I can't do my job" Ana sighs.

"he's doing it out of solidarity" Lucy points out.

"he's sacrificing so much for me" Ana murmurs.

"it's how love works, Ana" Lucy smiles.

"I know" Ana nods, biting her lip.

[Time Skip]

"dinner is ready, you okay if I move you to the table?" Tim asks, bending down in front of Ana who took a brief nap on Lucy's shoulder.

Ana nods, trying to be as helpful as possible as Tim bundles her up in the blanket and carries her over to the table. She should be embarrassed, but seeing the empathetic looks on everyone's faces just reminds her that they are her family now, and they're the best family she could ever ask for.

"do you wanna put it in a tortilla or just eat the meat and some cheese?" Tim asks.

"just the meat and cheese, please" Ana requests, softly.

Tim nods, putting a healthy portion on Ana's plate and making sure she eats every last bit.

[Time Skip]

"Uno?" Nolan suggests, pulling out a card game once everyone's finished eating but still sitting at the table.

"you interested, baby, or do you wanna go to bed?" Tim whispers in Ana's ear.

"can I play, please?" Ana requests, softly.

"of course" Tim smiles.

That smile stays plastered on his face as he watches Ana start to smile and have fun with the simple card game, but nothing good lasts forever and soon they have to head upstairs so they can do her dialysis before bed.

Tim sets her down on the bed, before starting to hook up the dialysis machine.

"thank you" Ana whispers.

"for what, princess?" Tim asks as he inserts the IV into her arm.

"for everything, you've been amazing" Ana murmurs. "since the very beginning"

"you're welcome" Tim smiles. "and thank you for being my sunshine"

"I'm not very sunshine-y right now" Ana sniffles, whining a little at the uncomfortable sensation as Tim turns on the dialysis machine.

"you will always be my sunshine" Tim promises to her, kissing her forehead.

"I'm sorry, about everything" Ana apologizes.

"don't apologize" Tim says, bluntly.

"I'm the reason I'm like this" Ana argues, softly.

"Your assholes of grandparents are the reason you're like this and they're locked up in prison" Tim reminds her.

Ana nods, a few tears running down her cheeks.

"I know, I know, ssh, babylove" Tim murmurs, hugging her, having to be careful of the dialysis machine but he manages to rock her to sleep and keep her in his arms for the rest of the night.

[Time Skip]

"Tim, can we take a break?" Ana requests, leaning heavily on Tim as they go onto a beach walk.

They haven't been walking for more than ten minutes but Ana is very tired and feeling very weak.

"just a little bit longer, babe" Tim promises her.

Ana is too weak to protest.

"here, let me carry you" Tim decides.

"no, no, no, I'll make it" Ana insists.

"are you sure?" Tim murmurs.

"yeah" Ana nods.

Tim makes it only another five minutes of watching her struggle before picking her up and continuing the walk.

Ana curls into his arms, looking out over the sea and not paying attention as he walks up the stairs to a deck and carries her down it.

"here" Tim sets her down on a little bench so they can watch the view together.

"oh" Ana realizes why he wanted to take her on a walk, for this. "thank you"

"you're welcome" Tim kisses her forehead and guides her to cuddle into his chest.

As the sun sets over the horizon, Tim starts to get more and more antsy.

"what's wrong?" Ana asks, softly, sitting up.

Tim just shakes his head and stands up.

"Tim?" Ana questions but he doesn't respond and instead gets on one knee.

"Ana Cabrera, you are my sunshine in the darkness, my hope in every bad day, will you do me the honor of marrying me?" Tim asks.

"yes, please" Ana sniffles, crying again, but this time happy tears.

He slips the ring on her finger and hugs her.

"do you really wanna marry me... while I'm like this?" Ana asks, gesturing to her weak body.

"in sickness and in health" Tim kisses her nose.
