"Tim, it's not your fault" Lucy assures him, watching as he guards over Ana's bedside.
"I should've been there" Tim groans. "I shouldn't have let her go home alone, she was receiving death threats"
"you sound surprised" Harper pipes up, sitting on Ana's other side.
"death threats are normal?" Nolan asks.
"we should expect it, especially for Ana" Harper answers.
"why?" Lucy questions.
"she's our weakness, the most vulnerable member on the team, you get her, you get all of us" Harper explains.
"what do you mean?" Angela asks.
"the mayor just stopped by, Elijah Stone is guarding the door way, hell Oscar Hutchinson is on his way here, this isn't normal" Lucy realizes.
"not to mention how half of the LAPD is guarding the hospital and she has more nurses watching over her than any other patient" Nolan adds.
"exactly" Harper sighs.
"why? why is she like this?" Angela questions.
"your guess is as good as any" Tim replies. "she's just..."
"she believes in the broken" Aaron finishes.
He receives some looks of confusion so he continues "Ana was the first person to not look at me like a murderer, she was the first person to believe that I was innocent and to believe that I could be a cop despite my past."
"she helped me with getting Lila back and she refused to hate me for how rude I was to her in the beginning" Harper says.
"she made me feel useful when it felt like the world was screaming at me that i would never be enough" Lucy adds.
"she saw past my age and my past and just wanted to be friends with me. she was there by my side with Henry and all of it" Nolan tells.
"she sacrificed her body so that I could be the mom I always dreamed of being." Angela sighs.
"she refused to let what happened with Isabel define me. she was always there to remind me that what happened with her wasn't my fault" Tim responds.
"she didn't care what I had done, she saw me as a person, someone who deserves another chance" Oscar pipes up entering the hospital room in his bright orange prisoner jumpsuit and with the warden right next to him.
"we're all broken" Lucy realizes.
"but she didn't care" Aaron notes.
"damnit" Tim curses, standing up and starting to pace.
"Sarge, the animals are growling at me" Smitty says, opening the hospital door.
Moose, Billy, and Max use that moment to sprint into the room and jump onto Ana's bed. Billy quickly curls up on the pillow by Ana's head with Max loafing on Ana's chest and Moose laying down by her feet.
"I swear to god if those things hurt her" Elijah growls, shoving past Smitty and entering the room to see that the animals are all peacefully watching over her.
"don't come in here" Tim says, walking over to Elijah.
"unless you forgot, Bradford, I saved her life" Elijah spits out.
Tim takes a deep breath. "it's your fault she's in that bed to begin with" Tim hisses.
"I have no idea who hurt her" Elijah responds.
"we better find out" Harper says.
[Time Skip]
"you're running an operation with Elijah Stone?" Wesley hisses.
"I thought you and Elijah were old buddies" Harper responds, tersely.
Wesley's face goes pale. "how do you know about that?"
"Elijah told Ana who told me" Tim replies.
"and if it turns out that you're the reason she's in this hospital bed right now, I will skin you alive and wear you as a coat" Harper growls.
"you wouldn't" Wesley says.
"if she doesn't, I will" Oscar threatens.
Oscar, the usual joking around psychopath is now very serious and is glaring at Wesley.
"Angela" Wesley turns to his wife.
"I can't, not right now" Angela groans, leaving the room.
[Time Skip]
It's black.
The kind of suffocating black that makes you claustrophobic.
"Ana, baby" There's a distant voice and a distant touch to her cheek.
She closes her eyes again before trying again, only to be met with blackness again.
"hey, sweetheart" Tim, that's Tim's voice.
"Tim?" Ana calls into the darkness.
"ssh, princess" Tim coos.
"I can't see you" Ana frowns, blindly feeling around for more evidence of his existence.
"what do you mean?" Harper asks, sounding worried.
" 's black, it's all black" Ana responds.
"get a doctor" Oscar demands and Lucy does just that, leaving the room to get a nurse.
"Oscar?" Ana calls into the blackness.
"hey nugget" Oscar replies, moving to Ana's bedside.
"what's going on?" Ana asks. "Tim, where are you?"
"I'm right here, love, I'm right here, I'm not going anywhere" Tim promises, squeezing Ana's hand.
"I can't see" Ana murmurs.
A doctor and a nurse enter the room, followed by an anxious Lucy.
"she can't see?" The doctor asks.
Tim moves out of the way so that the doctor can look her over.
"Tim? Oscar? Nyla? What's going on?" Ana asks, growing more worried.
"how did animals get in here?" The nurse asks.
"they're staying" Smitty demands.
"Ms. Cabrera, can you close your eyes?" The doctor questions and Ana does so.
The doctor glances at his watch, starting an internal timer for two minutes.
Those two minutes are the longest two minute of Tim's life.
Everyone stays silent, watching as the doctor monitors the time.
"open your eyes for me, Ms. Cabrera" The doctor requests.
Ana obeys but she still can't see.
"do you see anything? any color or is it just black?" The doctor asks.
"just black" Ana says, softly.
"get me the optometrist on duty" The doctor orders the nurse who nods and leaves the room.
"can I..." Tim trails off, wondering if he can hold Ana's hand again.
The doctor nods and Tim quickly sits back down by her bedside.
"how is she..." Lucy can't bring herself to say the word 'blind'.
"she was in three fires so close together, the fire could've damaged her eyes" The doctor replies.
"when will you know if it's... permanent?" Harper asks.
"I don't know" The doctor sighs.
"Ana, besides your eyes, how are you feeling?" Tim questions.
"sore, my legs hurt" Ana murmurs.
"your legs are broken" Tim explains. "do you remember what happened?"
"he... he liked fire" Ana whispers. "h-he... he said... said that I was going to be his message"
"that's his message" Elijah realizes, turning his head to look at the words burnt into her skin.
The World Will Burn
[Time Skip]
"laser surgery?" Tim asks, once the optometrist finishes examining Ana's eyes.
"yes, it'll be a short procedure, only 30 or so minutes" the optometrist replies.
"I-I can't afford that" Ana whispers.
Though her grandparents claimed to be able to afford the retirement home, they are unable to so now Ana is spending thousands of dollars per month because they picked the most expensive retirement home in California.
"how soon can you do the surgery?" Elijah asks the optometrist.
"well, I have several patients lined up and then I'm going on vacation-..." The optometrist is stopped when Elijah pulls out a wad of cash from his suit jacket.
"I can have it ready in two hours" The optometrist promises.
"are we not gonna..." Aaron trails off, wondering if they're going to do anything about Elijah bribing a doctor in front of a room full of cops.
"no, we're not" Harper responds.
"um, I can't afford it" Ana pipes up.
"nugget, if you think we're going to let you ever spend a penny of your money again then we need to get your head checked out" Oscar answers.
[Time Skip]
"w-where are you going?" Ana asks, softly.
"Elijah thinks we can catch the son of a bitch, I'll be back by the time your surgery is over, I promise" Tim promises.
"be safe, please" Ana pleads, softly.
"of course, love" Tim smiles and kissing her forehead then nose.
[Time Skip]
"alright" The optometrist says, standing up and starting to unwrap the gauze wrapped around Ana's head.
Ana keeps her eyes closed as the gauze is removed.
"open your eyes, baby" Tim requests.
"what if-" Ana asks, softly.
"then we'll figure it out, I promise" Tim promises.
Ana hesitates for another moment and lets her eyes flutter open.
She gasps as she can see but her eyebrows furrow when Tim's hair and skin are this odd pinkish color.
"baby?" Tim asks.
"I-I can see you, b-but your hair... it's pink" Ana frowns, reaching to touch his short hair.
"color blindness?" Angela guesses.
"yeah, Tritanopia" The optometrist nods.
"can that... be fixed?" Harper asks.
"not that I know of" The optometrist says.
Elijah pulls out another wad of cash.
"it's just a side effect of the surgery, it can't be fixed" The optometrist explains.
"can I still... be a cop?" Ana questions, softly.
"you should be able to" Grey pipes up.
"it's just different" Tim murmurs. "we're right here, we're not going anywhere."
"o-okay" Ana nods.
[Time Skip]
"war is coming" Elijah tells Tim, both of them standing outside of the hotel room where Ana is sleeping.
"it's already here" Tim responds.
"how?" Elijah questions.
"we're bringing the war to them" Harper replies, cocking her gun.
{Hi, I'm sorry, just wanted to add a gif and a few pictures to help give you an idea of what Tritanopia looks like.
This website has gorgeous pictures to give you a good idea of what people with Tritanopia see.

And this is just a general color wheel
And another picture that I think represents it as well
Thank you so much for the comments on my stories and please keep commenting, I love reading them. Sorry for the delay in updates, my family have been assholes recently and I might've made the grandparents assholes in this update just because of my own family problems. Anyway, hope you enjoy and I promise to get back to updating at least daily. Also, I'm planning on finishing the Snappin' One, Two, Three book on Friday, so if you have any requests for chapters please let me know by then so I can write them.}
