Bai Wei floated in the void. He watched emotionlessly as a reel of his life played before him on repeat. The film consisted of his entire life, from early childhood to his last moments before his execution.

He joined the star pirates to give his family a better life; however, his comrades had turned their back on him the second they were apprehended and pushed the blame onto him. The entire ordeal was infuriating ,but he was not surprised. They were outlaws after all. They had repeatedly proven that their bottom line was lower than he'd originally imagined and this was no different.

Thankfully, the execution was quick and painless. As Bai Wei looked at the injection going into his blood stream his last thoughts were of his mother. Who would take care of her now that he was leaving?

But none of that mattered any more. He was dead and there was nothing more to do.

Bai Wei watched stoically as the reel repeated endlessly, becoming increasingly blurry with each repeat. He felt his body become increasingly transparent as time went on. Soon there would be nothing of him left.

[ Ding! Potential Host Detected]

Suddenly, the reel playing his life came to a complete stop. In front of it stood a white pop-up screen.

[Dear soul, would you like a chance to live again?

Yes No]

Without even thinking Bai Wei press the yes button. He had previously resigned to his fate because he had no other choice, but when a choice was given, he would choose to live again. After pressing the button, he was teleported to a small white room. The walls seemed to emit light from every direction and dimmed and brightened in a methodical fashion akin to breathing.

[ Welcome dear host! I am system 496 and I will be your guide throughout your missions!]

The walls reverberated with excitement and brightened in short flashes as the system talked. The room itself was an onslaught of the system.

"Missions?"

[Yes! You will be assigned missions to capture the affection of a designated target within an number of small worlds. Each mission successfully completed will earn you points that can be exchanged for anything you wish!]

"Including a second chance at life?"

[Yes! A second chance at life is 100,000 points!]

"Okay."

[Okay?]

"I am ready to enter the first world"

[Ding! Preparing to enter the first world]

Another voice that was less interpersonal reverberated throughout the room. The walls flashed brightly, and Bai Wei's head started to spin. Faster and faster. And then suddenly everything was a blur. Bai Wei was about to fall to the ground due to dizziness before the spinning stopped.

[Ding! Finding target.... Searching... Target Acquired!]

[Target's favorability is now -25! Fighting!]

There were bright lights and flashing colors surrounding Bai Wei. He felt like he was moving and standing still at the same time. Overwhelmed Bai Wei blinked his eyes and looked around dazedly as the surroundings of what seemed to be a college campus came into his view.

[Host!! Move three steps to the left!!]

In the daze of the confusion Bai Wei did as the system said only to find that he had bumped into a person. He was about to apologize to the man when he looked to his right and there was a laser beam coming directly for his chest. Bai Wei instinctively twisted his body so that the laser beam would only graze his side

"Ugh... you bastard system" Bai Wei mumbled into the air before passing out due to shock.
