"Y-you're allergic to peaches"

Jiang Long's eyes widened in surprise.

To the imperial family, allergies of any kind could be a deadly weapon. The people of the nation were simple and tended to see any kind of defect in their leaders as a defect in their ability to lead. Not to mention an allergy that could take the persons life, even a small stutter could be detrimental to a prince's right to succession ,and as such imperial family members went through great lengths to conceal any defects that they had. If Jiang Long was allergic to peaches it could be detrimental to his status.

If it was true that is.

To his knowledge Jiang Long had never had an allergic reaction to peaches, but he had never tried them either.

In the past, if a untrusted person was to learn of such an important fact about himself, Jiang Long would have killed them on the spot. To even say something of this extent was grounds for Jiang Ling to have dealt the other person a swift blow to the stomach irregardless of whether the information was true. But this was no other person, this was Bai Wei who had saved his life in the past and had hung onto himself like an abandoned puppy since the incident.

Additionally, Bai Wei did not intend to use this information against himself as shown by his hesitation to say anything in front of the servants. Bai Wei said this knowing that Jiang Long might execute him immediately ,but still said something because he was worried for himself.

Jiang Long looked deep into Bai Wei's shaking pupils for a while. He detected no malice or lying in his gaze and instead saw a bit of worry and fear. Jiang Long felt that Bai Wei seemed less afraid of being caught lying and more afraid that Jiang Long would think that he was lying and do something rash. Jiang Long was surprised by his thoughts and temporarily decided to change the conversation as well as look into this matter later.

As such he laughed and continued to cut a slice for Bai Wei, who seemed uneasy with himself even being in the same room as the peaches much less encountering them. Bai Wei thanked him profusely for the slice and sensing his changing the topic calmed himself down. Bai Wei continued talking with him about various matters while occasionally looking at him out of the corner of his eye to check his situation.

Bai Wei thought that he was being sneaky about these glances, but they had long been caught by Jiang Long who had been on high alert since the matter about allergies had been brought up.

Jiang long found his small glances heart warming. No one had ever been as worried for his well being as this person before himself now. Jiang Long thought to himself that whether Bai Wei was a profit or a lunatic now, his one and only rival had inexplicably become a little cute.

[Ding! Target's favorability has risen 5 points and is now -12]

"Goodnight, brother Jiang" Bai Wei said in the hallway to Jiang Long before walking off in the direction of his room. As he walked down the hallway, the system that had been brimming with questions since earlier finally couldn't hold back anymore and asked.

[Host! How did you know that the target was allergic to peaches???]

Bai Wei almost tripped in the hallway when he heard this question. Out of all the questions that he thought the system might ask him; this was not one of them.

The world overview gives a general idea of the world but does not give enough information. It is necessary to have more knowledge to fully immerse oneself and complete the tasks.

The system sat on this knowledge and internalized it so that it may be of more help to the host in the future.

Now it was Bai Wei's turn to be taken-aback. The system had mentioned the hardware before, but until this point Bai Wei had thought that the two were one and the same. It was only now after hearing the hardware speak that he realized that the two were completely separate entities.

Hearing the host's inner monologue the system huffed and said [ Well that is just rude. All systems and hardwares come from the same code, but we are separate beings after exiting the factory]

[Additionally, we develop personalities and knowledge through experience. The system is still young and inexperienced, may the host be lenient to the system during this time]

Heh...

Bai Wei thought through this information as he walked back to his room.

Bai Wei spent the next week within his room. Only coming out during mealtimes and not making eye contact with anyone while outside the room. Even the servants of the residence grew worried as they watched the young man become paler and weaker by the day.

Jiang Long had initially thought of locking Bai Wei in his bedroom until results came back. While Bai Wei knowing this information was not detrimental to him, the Bai family was a different story. But Bai Wei hadn't said anything about going home and instead voluntarily became a canary in a bird cage. Seeing this, Jiang Long became hesitant to be hard and even felt guilty as he saw Bai Wei voluntarily quarantining himself to give Jiang Long peace of mind.

On the other side, Bai Wei who was growing sicker and paler by the day was having a blast. He spent his time playing chess with the hardware, watching dramas with the system, and catching up on much needed sleep.

But as all good things must end, Bai Wei's vacation was over only a week later when Jiang Long got back his results from a doctor.

Jiang Long was indeed allergic to peaches.

Bai Wei was reluctant as he heard the dinging sound as Jiang Long's favorability rose. He sighed as he heard the distant sound of Jiang Long's footsteps coming closer to his door and got into his place for the next scene.
