Mr.Chen) "Sure. What did you wanna to me talk about?"

My hands started to tremble slightly As it was hard to form the next few words not knowing how he would react.

Tim) "Mr.Chen... I love your daughter so much, She means the world to me. and I would like your blessing to marry her. I wanna marry her...I need to marry her."

Mr.Chen sat up in his chair and sighed.

Mr.Chen) "Well I'm not sure why you are asking because I know you're gonna marry her either way..."

I nodded

Tim) "Well Sir you are correct but we would both still appreciate your blessing."

Mr.Chen) "You do know I disapprove of her being a cop right?"

Anger started to fill up inside of me but I tried to push it away

Tim) "Yes sir. I don't have the same views on that as you do but I promise you I will love her like nobody else can and as she deserves... She's beyond amazing."

He sat his coffee cup down while mine was still on the table in front of me untouched.

Mr.Chen) "Well I know you'll treat her right and she's the happiest she's ever been with you...so yes... You have my blessing."

I smiled

Tim) "Thank you sir... Means a lot"

Mr.Chen) "Yeah yeah... When do you plan on asking?"

Tim) "Then it wouldn't be a Surprise would it?.."

Mr.Chen looked at me not happy

Tim) "S-sorry... I'm not proposing today but hopefully soon. I already bought the ring the day she got home from the hospital. That was when I knew I had to marry her, cause life is to short to not spend it with the one you can't live without."

Mr.Chen) "Well then. If that's all you came here for. I finished my coffee so I'm gonna head home."

Tim) "Yeah that's all, Thank you sir. Have a great night."

Mr.Chen nodded and was gone

I sat there starting and finishing my drink and contemplating how I was gonna ask her. and as soon as I was done I headed to Lucy's. ------------------

I knock on Lucy's apartment door and it opens

Lucy) "I was wondering when you were gonna be here!"

Tim) "Sorry I was meeting Aaron after work. He said he had something serious to ask."

Lucy cocked her head

Lucy) "Oh? What is that about? Or is it man to man confidentiality?"

She chuckled

Tim) "Aaron has feelings for Celina"

Lucy's jaw dropped

Lucy) "Called it."

Tim) "-and he wanted to ask me if he should tell her.."

Lucy) "Oh...What did you say?"

Tim) "I said yeah, before it's too late and you lose them.."

A tear falls from my face

Lucy wipes the tears falling down my face.

Lucy) "Hey....You wanna talk about it?.."

She rubs my arms

Tim) "There's not much to say...I'm just glad you're okay and Emmett's behind bars."

Lucy nodded

I looked over her shoulder to the stove and on top was a pan with a lid on it

Tim) "What's cooking?"

Lucy smiled at me looked over her shoulder where the pot was and looked back

Lucy) "Your favorite."

I grinned

Tim) "Really?!"

Lucy bit her lip and nodded I held her face, gave her a kiss and leaned my forehead against hers

Tim) "Thank you"

She turned around and scooped out 2 big spoonfuls of Alfredo and put the plates on the island. ------------------

Tim) "Babe...This. Tastes. Amazing." I say moving my fork in the air

Lucy) "Oh really?"

Tim) "Oh yeah."

Lucy) "Well thank you..... When we get done do you wanna watch the season finale of Top Chef."

Tim) "Why don't we move the plates to the living room and go ahead and get started?" I chuckled

Lucy) "Sounds like a great plan to me." ------------------

A few days go by and her ring is burning a hole in my pocket. I just don't know what place to ask at...

I decided to call one of her closest friends and one of mine

I dial Angela's number She picks up after the second ring

Angela) "Yello?"

Tim) "Hey...I need your help and advice on something."

Angela) "I'm all ears Tim, where are you?."

Tim) "I'm alone at my house, but I'd rather just talk over the phone for now."

Angela) "Okay...Sup?"

Tim) "Proposal. Wha-"

Angela cuts him off mid sentence

Angela) "WHAT!!!? YOU GUYS ARE GETTING ENGAGED?!?!???"

Tim) "SHEESH Angela. You about busted my eardrum.."

Angela) "I'm sorry but give me all the tea right now!!"

I chuckled

Tim) "I already bought the ring and got permission from her father so I'm going to soon. I just don't know the perfect timing or where girls liked to be proposed to."

Angela) "SO EXCITING. um anyways. Honestly the sooner the better sometimes and most girls like the question asked to them in a really pretty place but y'know Lucy. It's the heart behind it for her, not the scenery."

Tim) "Wait... That just gave me an idea... Thanks Angela."

Angela) "You're... Welcome? So what are you thinking?"

Tim) "Angela...not a chance. Lucy would know within 2 minutes..and you BETTER not tell her that I talked to you about this!."

Angela) "Touché...and my lips are sealed."

Tim) "Well I better head to work, I'll see you there. Thanks for chatting"

Angela) "Of course Boo. see ya, bye."

I rolled my eyes at the ridiculous nickname she had for me as I hung up but at the same time I smirked a little cause I knew she really had my back no matter what and has for so many years. ------------------

I was looking at my files on my desk at work when a familiar face walked in

Lucy walks in and puts her hands on my desk

Lucy) "Hey handsome. What are you doing?"

I chuckled. She's so cute

Tim) "Looking over this old case, wishing I was on a date with you...how about you?"

Lucy smiled

Lucy) "Honestly same."

She walked around the desk and clutched her stomach and gasped slightly I stood up and put my arm around her

Tim) "What's wrong? You okay?"

Lucy) "Yeah sorry. Just sometimes if I move a certain way my gunshot wound hurts again but it's not that bad."

Tim) "I'm sorry. We should probably go in for a checkup again soon."

I hugged her and she hugged me back and we just sat like that for a little while

Lucy) "I gotta get back to workkkk..ugh."

Tim) "Yeah...me too."

Lucy) "See you after shift?"

Tim) "Date night at The spot?"

Lucy sighed

Lucy) "Tim...that sounds amazing...thank you.."

I smiled

Tim) "Of course." I gave her a kiss and with that she was out the door and I went back to reading files. ------------------

Lucy's pov:

I should probably text Tim

Lucy} Hey do I have time to change into something nicer? Tim} Personally you look nice in anything and everything but sure lol I'll see you in 30 Lucy} You're the sweetest, I'll see you then. Tim} 💕

I go home to my apartment to change into this gorgeous purple long flowy dress paired with diamond like jewelry and black heels.

I walk into the restaurant and see Tim to the table on the left he is wearing a dress shirt and pants and looks so good

He walks up to me and spins me around

Tim) "Sheesh Lucy are you trying to make me not be able to breathe? You look stunning."

Lucy) "Well thank you and I could say the same about you."

We both sit down and start on our steak, rice and veggie plates that were oh so devine. ------------------

Tim) "Well that was good wouldn't you say so?"

I violently nodded my head and let out a laugh

I looked at him and he had that look in his eyes, that look that was full of love and compassion, the look I've never seen from anyone else."

Lucy) "Hey Tim...can I share something vulnerable with you?"

Tim) "Of course."

Lucy) "I can't wait to marry you one day..." ------------------
