Austronesian Empire, Imperial Maharlika, Mindanao, General Santos City, In The Streets Of General Santos City.
2000, 2, 1st Week, January
The fighting in the streets was immensely fierce as demons with blade-like legs were moving as swiftly as the wind, and penetrating the defenses that were not finished yet. While the Imperial soldiers were being harassed by the flying, bottomless demons, at the same time on each and every corner of the streets shots were being fired. Moreover, it seemed like the demons had an endless supply of population, because no matter how many they killed, another one quickly replaced it.
Suddenly in the middle of the fierce fighting a fierce roar resounded throughout the battlefield. At that moment, an object that seemed like a debris flew in the sky, but when the soldiers took another look, it didn't seem to be a debris, but rather a demon, yes a demon, one that is extremely muscular on every inch of its body and could jump hundreds of meters into the air.
Upon jumping high above in the air, the muscular demon was able to grab a hold of a Thunderwing attack helicopter. To the horror of its crew, the helicopter went down and crashed into the ground along with the demon.
The impact of the muscular demon landing on the street crushed dozens of Imperial soldiers into a grisly meat paste, while others nearby were thrown back and suffered severe injuries. The other surviving Imperial soldiers swiftly moved in to rescue the wounded soldiers and had the Mobile Tank Fortress take care of the problem.
The Fortress quickly moved in and charged on the muscular demon, to which it knocked the monstrous creature down. Upon being knocked down, the muscular demon roared in anger, but this didn't scare the crew of the Fortress, instead it ignited their fiery spirit. With the muscular demon momentarily down, they immediately aimed the turret down and fired at point-blank range.
In an instant, the muscular demon's face was burned by the explosion, angering it even more. But as it was about to approach the Fortress even more aggressively, a ZTZ-999 super tank appeared on the side and fired at the demon's back, causing the demon to roar in pain as another tank fired at its chest, damaging it severely.
Three more tanks, which were the PT-101M Pahlawan Mark V, appeared and started providing fire support. At the same time, they both fired three shells that pierced through the creature's chest, which spilled crimson blood everywhere with pieces of flesh hanging around the streets, killing the abomination at last.
"Thank God, it finally died," one of the tank crew members on the Fortress said in relief.
"It took like six tanks to kill this thing, this thing is a beast... literally," another added.
------------------
Earsplitting explosions followed one after another as the TA-16 Towed Artillery Rampart and the A-50 Self-Propelled-Artillery Paragon unleashed their bombardment.
In the sky dozens of AH-12 Thunderwings and AH-72 Heaven's Punch helicoptere were gunning down and ripping apart the demon lord Andromalius's demon army, using Hellfire missiles to destroy even the seemingly impenetrable Demonic Knights. Meanwhile, the F-12 Phoenixes were defending the sky from dragons and angelic-like demons, while the F-16 Phantoms were strafing at the ground as it pummeled through the demonic horde. However, no matter how much ammunition or superior firepower the Liberation Army was throwing at the demons that seemingly have an endless population.
Many attempts were made to destroy the portal, but it seemed like the demons possessed an interceptor guarding the portal. It became clear that the Liberation Army would have to take this fight to the Demon Lord himself. However, with the seemingly endless amount of population the demon army has, what could they possibly do to push them back?
"SUPERIOR FIREPOWER"
Harnessing the technological attainment of humanity, the solution became clear. If the amount of ammunition that was thrown isn't enough, then that means that you haven't thrown enough.
One assault rifle is like a joke to them, but what about dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of assault rifles? You'll be facing a literal storm of hot lead.
Basically, the strategy is simple. You need to overwhelm the demons by throwing even more ammunition and make it at a blistering speed so that they wouldn't be able to replenish their numbers. This method had been tried and proven effective. You just basically have to overwhelm your enemy with as much firepower as you can that they could never be able to recover.
After all, the lives of the soldiers were far more precious than some piece of metal that could always be recycled and be made again.
------------------
On a street in the city of General Santos, a fierce fight is taking place that is much more dangerous than anywhere else. The situation seems extremely dangerous for a small squad of eight soldiers stranded in the middle of the abandoned street filled with an endless number of blood thirsty demons.
These groups of Imperial soldiers were valiantly holding off an entire wave alone. One soldier was continuously squeezing the trigger of the machine gun, spatting out hundreds of rounds on the demon horde in mere seconds.
Noticing this, the Commanding Officer reprimanded him, "Don't hold the fire button! Do a burst of fire every few seconds. We can't afford to overheat the machine gun!"
The soldier's expression was ashen as he tried to slow down on holding the trigger button, "Roger that, sarge! There are just too many of them! Are we going to get overwhelmed!?" he shouted in panic, it seemed like the pressure and fear had been clouding his judgment.
"Have faith in the Almighty Father in Heaven, son! Reinforcements will arrive!" the sergeant assured him.
However, the squad was unaware that the unit on the other street beside them had been wiped out, allowing the demons to breach the defense line and change their direction towards their squad.
One of the privates spotted the approaching threat and immediately alerted his comrades. As he was alerting the entire squad, he redirected his shots towards the demon that had just arrived from top of a ruined house.
"S-Sarge bogies atop the ruined house at three o'clock."
The sergeant's face fell as he grasped the situation. "Shit! The demons have overrun the other side of the street!"
The rest of the squad, after hearing the words of their commanding officer, had their back run dry with cold sweats. While the private who has been anxious so much has lost control of himself.
"A-AHHHH!!" he screamed in disarray.
The private has now firmly pressed into the trigger of the machine gun as he attempts to mow down all the demons, regardless of the distance. This event struck a cord between the other privates and they all have gone mad at the same time.
"A-AHHHH!!" "A-AHHHH!!" "А-АНННН!!" "А-АНHHH!!" "AHHHH!!" AAAHHH!!"
The privates continuously let loose of themselves in panic. Having seen the privates lose their minds, the sergeant tried to defuse the situation, but the inevitable finally came. The machine gun which had kept the demons at bay has now overheated.
The private that was holding the machine gun looked at the sergeant with a look of hopelessness in his face and uttered.
"S-Sar-"
Shing! Spurt!
The private wasn't even able to finish his sentence as a demon suddenly appeared in a blur and immediately sliced his head off with its razor-sharp claws that moved at the speed that couldn't be seen with the naked eye.
Upon seeing the death of his comrade, the sergeant reacted instantly and brought out his handgun. But the demon was already upon him, moving as fast as lightning.
Before the Sergeant could even realize what was happening to his sight, something just flew in the air. He immediately tried to think of what it was while his adrenaline was quickly pumping.
When he realized what it was, it was already too late, as his head was already gone. The one that flew in the air was all of his limbs. He wasn't able to think properly before his vision was about to turn black, but the last thing he remembered seeing was his decapitated head being held in someone's hand.
"SHRIEEEEKKKK!!"
The demon let out a shrieking war cry and bit the face of the sergeant, tearing his entire skin and flesh from his face with its sharp piranha-like teeth.
Out of disrespect, it kicked the head into the air like a football.
The other six privates that had just lost their minds suddenly snapped out of it, barely registered the carnage around them. Before they could even comprehend that the demon had killed the other private beside them and mutilated their commanding officer, the two private's heads were already flying in the air by the demon as its movements were as precise as a surgeon's.
The remaining four soldiers near the demon just stood with utter shock on their faces. Their brains could not process what just happened. From that hellish cry the demon made left them all shaking uncontrollably.
"Quick, kill it!"
With this, the soldiers fully regained their senses, working like machines who were created for murder on command. But before they could press the triggers, the demon disappeared.
But it didn't escape nor did it teleport. In a matter of seconds, the demon reappeared among them, moving too fast for their normal human senses to keep up with its movements before one by one, it sliced them into multiple pieces with its claws that were coated in dark energy, leaving only mutilated remains behind.
For a moment, on the view of the last private at the far corner, he watched as the sky turned crimson red with all the blood of his comrades splattered everywhere as it gushed out from their mutilated bodies.
With quick thinking, the last private mustered all his strength and aimed his assault rifle at the demon that had annihilated his squad within just a couple of seconds. He raised his weapon and prepared to fire, but before he could pull the trigger, the demon twisted its body and sliced the rifle in half.
In the same fluid motion, the demon's claws stabbed into the private's chest, sealing his fate.
The private, upon being outmaneuvered, had an eye of a fish with a strike of a bloodshot in his eyes.
As the private looked into the eyes of the demon, he found the abyss, and the abyss stares back at him. That was the last thing he saw before the demon stabbed his head and eventually decapitated him.
As his head flew through the air, the demon snatched it and smashed it against the wall, reducing it to chunks of meat.
"ROAARRRRRRRR!!!"
Scenes like this were all too common on the battlefield within General Santos. However, the final battle of the city is about to come.
------------------
The A-50 Paragon Self-Propelled Artillery and the A-111 Titan Multiple Launch Rocket System pummeled the city center of General Santos city with dozens of explosive rockets and artillery shells. Meanwhile, the ground troops on the field have given up on pushing further into the city center, instead they retreated to a much more defensible position in the outskirts of the city itself. They were ordered to hold the line and to wait for further commands. Apparently, there is a weapon that could turn the tides of war into their favor.
For the meantime, all they could do is unleash a continuous hail of ammunition at the enemy and to preserve the lives of the soldiers. Therefore, the artillery and MLRS bombardment have intensified. Meanwhile, to prevent friendly fire incidents towards the air force, they were pulled back, while the mechanized corps had fortified their positions on the surrounding soil.
As more time had passed, more and more Imperial soldiers got mobilized and were stationed on the outskirts of the city. By the end of it, their number was greater than 50,000.
They placed machine gun emplacements all over the frontline along with a group of A-76 Cruiser Self-Propelled Anti-Air protecting each of the locations. On the outskirts of the city they have more advantage as there were not many structures and most of it was a large open field or a small forest. Which means the demon has no place to climb or places to ambush the Liberation Army.
Hundreds of IFVS, LAVs, and JLTVs, along with one hundred tanks of various kinds were also deployed along the frontline to support the infantry and to give the soldiers some cover and heavy fire support. In the back lines, a battalion of snipers were all spread out in a wide encirclement. They were also being protected by a squad of Imperial soldiers for each so that they wouldn't be ambushed by demons.
With all that, the stage was set for a decisive confrontation, with the Liberation Army fortifying their positions and preparing for the next phase of the battle.
Even though they all have the advantage in firepower and the terrains, the soldiers' morale is at an all-time low. After all, about three offensives into the city failed and tens of thousands of lives of soldiers were lost. Furthermore, the condition on the battlefield isn't likable for the many, that is because the flood had just rescinded and left the battlefield immensely muddy and treacherous.
The artillery and MLRS roared as they sent waves of their ammunition towards the city. Thunderous explosions were happening all over the city, but suddenly they noticed only a small number of bombs managed to penetrate the city center while the rest exploded in the sky. It seemed like the demons had some form of built up anti-air defense in the city center.
After connecting to the satellite, they've found out that the entire city center is filled with living flesh, flesh that is alive and is beating with a heart. Along it was a river of blood flowing through the streets. They weren't able to see those earlier, but it seemed like the liberation of what's left of general santos city is going to get much more intense.
Within the city, there was a massive movement of demons, which means they are about to launch an offensive to break out of the encirclement of the Liberation Army.
