Austronesian Empire, Imperial Maharlika, Mindanao, Lanao del Sur, Marawi City

2000, 3, 1st Week, January

Rumble-!

The earth trembled as if in mourning, and the mountains seemed to cry out in sorrow. In the distance, a dust storm several tens of meters high could be seen.

Within the swirling dust storm were rows and rows of Demonic Knights advanced forward with shields held high and armed to the teeth with different types of weapons. Below them were their fiery mounts, the Hell Mounts, roaring fiercely under them and intended to incinerate everything they could step on with the flames of hell that enveloped their body.

Following them were countless demons in the thousands, marched towards the dam and the fortress they were ordered to attack. Legions of noble-class demons advanced, protected by demonic giants and dragons. Demonic birds of numerous kinds rose in the air, flying towards the defenders to descend on them and reap their numbers. Entire squads of fast demons with bladed limbs, dozens of masses of deadites, and numerous demonic beasts. They were just a few of the huge variety of demons there was.

And the defenders were quick to respond.

Accompanied by the outporting of one black-clad figure after another, the towering dam was now soon filled with numerous cold and stern figures.

With a staggering total strength of 30,000, what made this Military Division more terrifying than the rest of the Liberation Army was that every Black Soldier wore body armor that was durable enough to withstand a single shot from a 50 caliber bullet and wielded cold weapons, known as MK Mark III rifle, which was more powerful than the average rifle of the Liberation Army.

It fires a long 8.25 caliber round, on either single shot, semi-automatic, and fully automatic, with a cyclic rate of fire of 650 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 820 meters per second. The mechanism behind those weapons were of such high grade that a single round could pierce through concrete and tore human limbs.

And they were just standard rifles for this Division.

In addition to the Black Armor Army, countless heavy weapons were installed on the towering walls of the dam, a single each of these auto-cannons were equipped with an artificial intelligence and a few of them alone were enough to stop a battalion of tanks, a squadron of jets, and a volley of missiles with relative ease.

It could be said that the defenses of this Military Division were more than ten times stronger than any military bases throughout the Austronesian Empire.

"Faster! Faster!"

Accompanied by the shouts of several commanding officers, more Black Armor Soldiers poured like a black wave towards the dam. Beneath the inner wall, one could see a constant stream of military vehicles and battle tanks emerging from deep within the city.

This wasn't the first time this Military Division had faced such a threat. Since the New Year, they had been one of the many military bases isolated from the world and had already faced off against the demonic tide on more than one occasion, although they had all been small-scale ones.

A large-scale demonic tide like right now was something they had never encountered.

As they lifted their gazes, they could see tall clouds of dust billowing on the horizon, rising so high they seemed to blanket the sky. The momentum of the approaching demonic tide was far more formidable and terrifying than anything they had faced before.

The roars from the terrifying demonic tide made countless Black Armor Soldiers feel uneasy.

Just then, one soldier's face suddenly changed as he noticed the huge silhouettes emerging on the horizon.

"Shit..." muttering to himself, the man's face underwent a significant change.

"What's wrong, Levi?"

Sensing this soldier's unusual reaction, several other soldiers stood beside him, looked at him and asked suspiciously, their bodies surging with a fearsome aura.

One of them even mocked, "Commander Levi, you aren't scared, are you? Rest assured, our army is not like your old Liberation Army. We may not be invulnerable, but we're not so easy to crush."

Ignoring the sneer, the man named Levi remained silent, clenching his fists tightly. After a moment, as if trying to confirm something, he looked at the approaching demonic tide and stated something in a low voice, "If that's true, then we'll give it a try. After all, it seems this demonic army is being led directly by one of the Demon Lord's servants."

"What!?"

As if they had heard a terrifying word, the faces of all the Commanders changed drastically. As for the one who had mocked, he froze before staring into the distance with incredulity.

"You're not lying, are you? I thought the High Command said most of them were still far from our position."

"No. It is one of them alright," Levi responded with certainty. Pointing to the most terrifying silhouettes on both sides of the approaching army, he explained, "Those demons over there, I will never forget these two. We saw them in the satellite feed from the government and witnessed them trampling over an entire city without any effort using their iron feet."

"Gulp, gulp..."

Swallowing hard, even the one who had been sneering fell silent at this moment.

To be honest, despite their superior firepower compared to the rest of the military throughout the Austronesian Empire, there is still doubt on the 19th Black Armored Division as the demons they were facing before them now had hundreds, if not thousands, of powerful beings capable of toppling armies or even cities.

One example is a Demonic Knight. Early in the war, a hundred soldiers were struggling to even face one, and now this time, they were about to face thousands of them.

The most terrifying part was the one who led the entire legion, the Demon Lord. In the face of that monster, not only the 19th Black Armored Division but even the combined might of the Austronesian Empire would find it difficult to contend against.

But that was not the most frightening part.

What was truly terrifying was a rumor, according to which even nuclear weapons failed to inflict significant damage on the Demon Lord, not even a scratch!

And when these rumors were circulating, no one among the top officials in the Austronesian government came forward to refute them.

One could imagine the impact this had on countless citizens!

A presence of a monstrous being capable of withstanding nuclear weapons was enough to cause mass panic, or worse, if it ever being heard back on earth.

"Haaaaa..."

Exhaling a long, deep breath and suppressing the shock in his heart, one of the Commanders ordered with a serious expression, "Immediately inform the Brigadier General and the Major General that there is an Archdemon among the enemy forces."

"Sir, yes, sir!"

Immediately responding, several Black Armor Soldiers saluted before heading toward the city center, where the high command of this military division were residing.

-----------------------

"ROARRRR!"

"ROOOOOOAAAARR!"

"ROOAAARR!"

With each roar and growl, the demonic army drew closer and closer.

On a closer look, one would be able to make out the outlines of terrifying Demons gradually appearing within the rising dust clouds. However, to the astonishment of the Black Armor Soldiers stationed atop the high wall of the dam, the fearsome demon army slowed its pace as it neared the dam.

It was only when it was about 3-4 kilometers away from the mighty dam that it came to a halt, as though waiting for something.

Soon, the dust clouds began to disperse, revealing one gigantic demon after another.

These demons emerging from the dust were unlike the ordinary ones faced by the 19th Black Armored Division, these demons looked far more scary than they had faced until now.

On one end of the tide stood a demon that resembled a mix of a Mammoth and a gorilla, towering fifty meters high and appearing like a small mountain.

On the other end stood a creature whose size is half as the Mammoth, but it was a Dinosaur.

A living and breathing Dinosaur.

Its whip-like tail swayed in the air, kicking up a cloud of dust with its every move. Its entire body seemed to be covered in thick armor, giving it a fearsome appearance. Every once in a while, its gaping maws would open, and blood would drip from it

It was a Tyrannotitan, an overlord from the Cretaceous period, a terrifying Atavistic Beast.

There was no need for anyone to remind them of how fearsome these creatures were.

Just by looking at the creatures that were almost as tall as the dam, many well-trained Black Armor Soldiers could not help but have the corners of their eyes twitch uncontrollably. Some even went completely pale.

"ROOOOAAAARR!"

Suddenly, a deafening resonant roar reverberated across the sky, shaking the entire world. The ear-piercing roar sent shivers down the spines of the soldiers in Marawi City, making them feel as if they were witnessing the emergence of a ferocious beast that could bring an end to the world!

However, this was not the most terrifying part. The most frightening aspect was that these colossal demons were standing shoulder to shoulder like soldiers. And in the midst of these giants, even more terrifying demons slowly emerged one after another.

For instance, a demon, not particularly as tall as Mammoth and Tyrannotitan, but smaller, walked out slowly from the horde.

But unlike them, its appearance is far more fearsome, a Sarcosuchus, nearly as tall as the Dinosaur. Another such demon was a massive tiger, about five meters tall. Except, this tiger had a pair of bird-like wings on its back.

"A giant ugly-looking motherfucking lizard and a tiger with wings, huh," murmuring, many of the Black Armor Soldiers could not help but shudder at the sight.

As these fearsome creatures appeared, the soldiers on top of the dam felt a chill run down their spines. The magnitude of the threat before them was overwhelming, and the presence of these monstrous beings only added to their dread.

And right at that very moment...

Thump!

Thump!

Thump!

Accompanied by thunderous footsteps, continuous tremors passed through the ground.

"Hand over your land, mortals. Otherwise, we shall bathe this city in blood today."

Every word was uttered with tremendous force, resonating throughout the entire sky. And as these words shook their eardrums, a humanoid figure emerged from the demon army.

The calm expressions on everyone's faces could not be maintained any longer.

"Is that Satan?" someone whispered.

Amidst the astonished murmurs, the soldiers stared at the humanoid creature approaching from the distance. This colossal being, standing at a towering 3-4 meters, wore thick armor in white and wielded a massive axe. The sight of it left them utterly dumbfounded.

But what made them shudder even more is the crimson-white aura surrounding the demon. It was so vast as the ocean, so immense that it distorted the surrounding space and the atmosphere became so dense that the soldiers on the dam had a hard time breathing, even though they were kilometers away from the demon.

Other than its massive demonic aura, they could sense a cold and fearsome killing intent radiating from the demon and spread through the sky, chilling the soldiers to their core.

"I don't want to say it again," speaking in a grim voice, the demon in white armor raised its massive axe high.

With a deafening roar, the axe struck the ground.

To the shock of the Black Armor Soldiers, a crack several dozen meters long appeared, spreading toward the towering dam.

What was even more terrifying was that this abyss-like fissure grew wider and wider as it approached the dam. By the time it was close to the wall, it had expanded to over ten meters in width.

The sight of it was completely horrifying. Even the imposing dam started trembling.

In the face of this terrifying power that cracked the earth, the towering dam seemed as fragile as papier-mâché.

Just at that moment, as if sensing the impending disaster, a figure promptly jumped down from the dam.

In the next instant, a burst of magical energy surged from the figure as she drove the sword in her hand into the ground with tremendous force.

With a swoosh, a waterfall of mana, several dozen meters tall, rose from the ground.

A deafening roar reverberated through the sky as the crack came to an abrupt halt.

When everyone's attention turned toward the base of the dam, they saw Floria Melian Shelberry, whom they regarded as some freaky alien witch, left a 20-meter-long trench in the ground as she slid.

Except, what others failed to notice was the wound that had appeared on Melian's hand.

Had she not promptly inserted her hand into her sleeve and sealed the wound with her mana, her disheveled state would have been revealed before everyone's eyes.

"Uuuhhh..." An imperceptible gasp escaped Melian's lips as she looked at the nearby monstrous figure, her pupils shrinking to the size of pinpricks.

'What terrifying power. With just a casual swing, he was able to crack the earth and almost demolished the dam entirely even from that distance. If I didn't stop it or he used his full strength...' At this thought, Melian's heart sank slightly. Nonetheless, she had no choice but to step up.

"I'll say, Lord Andromalius was indeed correct that this is no manaless world," said the Archdemon as he set his eyes that seemed to hold a desire that knew no limit on the Elf Queen, "You appeared strong, way stronger than the creatures in this nation. Tell me, what is your name?"

Stepping forward with determination, she infused her words with mana and declared boldly, "My name is Floria Melian Shelberry, ruler of the Kingdom of High Tarxan and one of the strongest in the Third Civilization Zone. And you, demon. What is your name?"

"Hm, stating your name before battle is commendable for a warrior, I respect that. As for my name, I am Lord Conquest! A conqueror, a high-ranking member of the Greed Clan, one of Demon Lord Andromalius' greatest followers, and one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse!"

"Then, Lord Conquest, why don't we talk this out?"

"Talk?" A cold smile appeared on Conquest's lips beneath his mask as he tightened his grip on the enormous ax, and stated in a grim voice once more, "Hand over this land without resistance, and you will be spared. If not, you shall duel with me in a warrior's battle. Should you win or satisfy me, I may withdraw my forces and let you and all of the mortals here to live... for now."

"Then we should du-"

At that moment, a cold voice suddenly reverberated from on top of the high wall, "Alien Witch, why are you negotiating with these abominations?"

With disdain evident in her voice, General Trese raised her sword and declared in a voice filled with hatred, "We have an irreconcilable blood feud with these demons. We, the servants of God, and these monsters that he deemed impure and corrupt, will have to fight one day!"

And just as her words echoed across the dam, war cries erupted one after another.

"Fight!"

"Fight!"

"Fight!"

"Fight!"

"Fight!"

"Fight!"

The unified shout echoed across the battlefield, showing the soldiers' unity and determination.

The entire crowd was outraged.

However, there was no denying that these Black Armor Soldiers had the strength to back up their confidence. Having already faced and resisted a demonic army multiple times before, they harbored no fear.

Every time they saw one, all that came into their mind was to fight. After all, many of them had lost family members and loved ones to the demons and many others for religious reasons.

This deep-seated grudge had already filled these Black Armor Soldiers with hatred toward the demons.

However, what no one knew at this moment was the terrifying nature of the demon army they were facing. More importantly, how terrifying a demon army was when it had something called discipline.

"Fight?" Hearing the distant unified shouts, Conquest chuckled darkly, "It seemed you humans are indeed very violent creatures."

"You're mistaken," Trese retorted, shaking her head. "I know violence is never the right answer... unless used against heathens, heretics, and vile abominations such as you who will seek the world's end!"

"The end of the world?" Conquest scoffed, "That is a simple inevitability. All that is created is destined to someday be destroyed after all. My purpose is to simply guide this world to that point. I hold no fear for that moment. Instead, I will embrace it and in doing so will see the world in its purest, most beautiful form. Tell me, do you desire to see that world as well?"

"...Fuck no. Instead, you shall hand off your disgusting demonic taint from this world created by the hands of the Lord!"

Conquest broke into mocking laughter, "Very well, if war is what you seek, then war you shall have!"

With a voice filled with bone-chilling killing intent Conquest slowly turned his head around and shouted.

"My Legions! Charge!"

At the same time, Trese fired a single shot of her handgun and screamed out with fervor like a madwoman.

"OPEN FIRE!!!!!"

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

"TODAY WE SHALL FIGHT TO THE DEATH AGAINST THESE DEMONIC SCUMS!"

"KILL ALL THE SUMMONS OF LUCIFER! AVENGE OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS WHO SACRIFICE THEIR LIVES TO DEFEND THE GLORIOUS CREATIONS OF GOD!"

"By the Gods, maybe I should've done most of the talking!"

With a groan, Melian raised her sword and took a battle stance, staring intently against the endless tide of demons marching towards the dam. They roared and screeched with bloodthirsty eyes, eager to taste the blood of the humans behind the walls.

Occasionally, flying demons would swooped down and attack Melian. Every time that happened, she would simply swing her sword, bisecting the demons before they could come within tens of meters of her.

However, Melian knew how useless this was.

Even if she killed hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of demons like these, it would be useless as it would only have drain most of her strength.

No, her task here was to kill the strongest demons first. Once she killed the demons that could threaten the army, only then could she afford to spend her remaining strength with the lesser foes.

Fortunately, she didn't have to wait long to find the first one.

In the front ranks of the demon army, a large tiger-like creature with wings caught her eye. The tiger roared angrily to the sky, displaying its fury and for bloodlust.

Just a glance was enough for Melian to assessed its strength and the amount of Magicule it possessed.

"130,000," she muttered, her eyes narrowing. With over 200,000 Magicule and being one of the strongest individuals in the Third Civilization Zone, she was confident enough to slay this demon with ease.

And adding to the fact that she has the mark of the Goddess, there was even a chance she could hold her own against an Archdemon like Lord Conquest.

As she prepared to face the impending battle, memories of Amelia leaving the city flashed through Melian's mind, reminding her of their last moments together before they parted ways.

"I don't have any fighting or military experience, so I should leave now as I have another important matter at the IDAC," Amelia said as she approached the helicopter. "But be careful out there, Miss Shelberry."

Melian nodded, "I doubt it, but I'll try my best though."

Amelia gave her a small smile and was about to board into the helicopter when...

"Wait, before you leave," Melian interrupted as she glanced around at the Black Armor soldiers who were gazing at Amelia with disdain and hateful look, "I'm still wondering why they look at you so hostilely. I never got an answer."

Amelia sighed. "Two answers: I'm White and an American. Before I was born, my parents were American immigrants who arrived here in Austronesia after my home country became fully Communist or Marxist. It was extreme enough that even radicals in the Left-wing party in this nation saw them as... too radical."

"Oh... so it's just simply politics, race, or nationality?"

"Exactly."

~~~
~~~~

~~~~~
Shaking off the blood on her sword, Melian sighed. This American woman named Amelia felt like a friend she never had, but now was not the time to get too distracted as she had a war to win.
Gathering most of the mana within her to enhance her body, she kicked off the air and appeared just above the tiger in the next instant.
With a war cry, her sword slashed down.
Boom!
The sword strike crashed against the ground, unleashing powerful mana waves that obliterated nearby demons. Just that sword slash was enough to create a ten-meters-long crevice on the ground
But...
"Do you really think I'll sit back and allow you to slain any of my forces?" A voice spoke from the ground.
Standing before Melian's sight was Lord Conquest. He was holding his enormous axe while defending the tiger-like demon from her attack.
The tiger demon kneeled before the Archdemon and growled submissively. After a nod from Conquest, the tiger spread its wings and flew away.
"Now," Conquest returned his gaze at Melian and tilted his head, "Are we going to fight or not?"
"Hmph!" Melian snorted before a strong sword intent surged out of her body as she charged towards the Archdemon.
But Conquest laughed. With a wave of his weapon, a slash was created that seemed to tore through reality itself and easily dissipated the sword's intent completely.
In the next moment, their weapons collided in an earth-shattering clash.
Just like that, the battle between two mighty warriors began.
--------------------
"UNLEASH ALL FIREPOWER!!"
While the two powerful beings clashed, cannons shuddered behind the dam, lined up in preparation. Artillery teams meticulously adjusted the angles of fire and measured precise amounts of decylene for each shot.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Dozens of cannons unleashed their lethal charges, sending shells flying in an arc toward the enemy.
The destruction fell from the sky as deadly howitzers shattered entire groups of demons. Each impact carved craters a hundred meters wide, the shock waves alone were already sufficient to reduce countless demons to pieces, because the damage was similar to receiving a huge hammer with their bodies. Incandescent fragments turned demons into minced meat, annihilating numerous other demonic beasts in the process.
Not even the demonic knights or their fiery mounts were safe. Where each projectile fell, everything within a hundred meters was obliterated into flesh and powdered armor. A projectile fell on a large mass made of demonized humans, bursting it like a balloon and scattering shattered corpses.
"I never thought I'd live to see this day. Seeing this is so beautiful," said a soldier on the wall, unable to tear his eyes from the massacre. "For years, those damn atheists kept shittalking us and our beliefs, ranting that everything we believed in was mere children's stories. Now, seeing this, it gives us another reason to believe."
"Shut your mouth and keep firing, soldier!" Trese shouted. This one did not stop her from pressing the trigger of the giant anti-tank rifle in her arms. 30mm Armor-piercing incendiary rounds flew at incredible speed against the ranks of demons. One bullet obliterated the head of a demonic knight, sending it falling to the ground. A second shot claimed it was dead, as she had discovered that even beheaded, these creatures sometimes continue moving. "Even with the artillery, there are so many that it is not enough to finish them off. They have even appeared too close, just over three kilometers and they are closing the distance quickly."
In fact, the enemy army appeared only a few kilometers from the dam. And by the time the defenders began to respond, they were only two kilometers away. Their numbers were overwhelming, even scattered to avoid being swept away in groups. The artillery shells fell, but it would not be enough to devastate them, not at this distance. If only they had appeared one kilometer further then the guns would do an excellent job with their already 16-kilometer range.
And the worst part is that there were not enough troops.
The attack had been too fast, surprising even. The city was well-equipped with artillery, autocannons, and other heavy weapons spread over the dam, but calling reinforcements would take time, precious minutes of which did not count much.
Killing lesser demons from Level 1 to Level 6 was easy enough for a small squad of soldiers, but killing stronger ones from Level 7 and above was complicated. For instance, Demonic Knights were nearly impervious to standard rifles, which would take hundreds, if not thousands, of rounds just to penetrate both of their shields and armor.
However, rifles from the 19th Black Armored Division were far more powerful than the average assault rifle as it would require fifty rounds to breach the shield, thirty more to pierce the armor, and twenty more on its flesh beneath it and to make sure the demon does not get up. The autocannons on the dam were a different story. One round from them was more than enough to destroy the shield, another for the armor, and a third to end the demon. But there were so many that even with a hundred emplacements of these heavy weapons on top of the dam, their numbers did not diminish.
But just as everything appeared to be fine...
"ROARRRRR!!!"
A Tiger's roar reverberated across the sky like a clap of thunder. Immediately after, the demonic tiger spread its snow-white wings and soared into the sky.
"ROOOAAARRR!!!"
After another roar, filled with a fiendish aura, the tiger suddenly spoke as its voice echoed across the sky.
"Dragon Commanders, heed my command! Kill them all! Kill them until they tremble in fear!!"
"Yes..." A unified reply echoed. Much to the horror of countless Black Armor Soldiers, the horizon was suddenly engulfed in a blazing red hue, as if clouds of flame had suddenly materialized.
On closer inspection, four colossal Dragons with wingspans spanning dozens of meters could be seen flapping their wings deep within the clouds. At the same time, a tremendous amount of demonic energy started gathering at the horizon.
Sensing the increasingly dense demon energy, the expressions of the Black Armor Army commanders and even General Alexandre Trese changed dramatically.
"Well... that can't be good."
"Quick! Retreat!"
As one warning after another rang, the faces of the soldiers mirrored their commanders' alarms.
Just because in the next moment, enormous fireballs rained down from the sky like a meteor shower, heading straight for the tall wall of the dam.
What these dragons unleashed were magic attacks called [Meteor Firestorm].
Flapping their wings, these dragons could gather the demonic energy from the sky and instantly convert that part of the sky into a sea of fire.
However, this was not the most terrifying part.
The most terrifying part was that the four Dragon Commanders unleashed the [Meteor Firestorm] together, and their combined might was far more powerful than the sum of their individual strengths.
In the beginning, when all seven Dragon Commanders flew together, the combined sea of fire they created stretched for hundreds of kilometers.
Although there were only four of them now, their strength was not what it used to be.
Even though this [Meteor Firestorm] wasn't as powerful as when all seven dragons unleashed it together, it was almost as devastating.
"Damn it!"
Noticing the impending disaster, Melian broke away from the battle and hastily cast a magical barrier before the flaming spheres of destruction and blocked them.
Unfortunately, she only managed to block three of them, the other one, on the other hand, already flew past before the magic barrier could be formed.
In an instant, the sky and ground were dyed fiery red, and the fireball the size of a house head struck the dam in succession.
BOOOOM!!
A deafening explosion erupted, causing the dam to shake violently as if under heavy artillery fire. Heart-wrenching screams filled the air as hundreds of soldiers were lit up in flames. They did not struggle for long as their scorched corpses fell to the ground one after another.
At the end of the day, the flames of these Dragon Commanders were simply too terrifying, far beyond the capabilities of these humans to withstand. Not even their fire resistant clothing they wore could stop the blazing flames of hell.
While such a powerful attack temporarily exhausted the Dragon Commanders, it was enough for Conquest, who smirked in satisfaction.
"Peregrine Falcons, destroy that wall!"
Gazing at the towering city wall now engulfed in flames, a cold gleam flashed in Conquest's eyes. He then turned his attention to several Peregrine Falcon-like demons that were already prepared and gave the command.
"Yes..." Immediately after, the Peregrine Falcon demons began to spin, ready to unleash their destructive power.
WHOOSH-!
WHOOSH-!
WHOOSH-!
With each rotation, five storms moving at deadly speed began to surge.
What was even more terrifying was that these five storms grew larger as the Falcons spun, eventually forming tornadoes dozens of meters wide that charged toward the dam
"Stop them!" a soldier shouted upon noticing the oncoming tornadoes.
The AI on the auto-cannons detected the incoming storms and began firing a barrage of high-caliber explosive rounds. Thankfully, some of the rounds managed to strike four of the Falcons.
...Except for one.
"SCREEEEECH!!!"
Accompanied by high-pitched screeches, the enormous tornado was about to fall on the high wall.
It was fast, incredibly fast.
And while it was fast, it was breathtakingly powerful.
"NO!" Melian yelled as she leaped into the air.
Gathering a massive amount of mana into her sword, she prepared to unleash her magic attack, [Light Streak], the skill she used to slain the giant Crocodile back in Aceh.
However, before she could cast it, Lord Conquest, who was standing on the ground below, transformed into a streak of white light. In an instant, he shot straight toward Melian and appeared before her.
"Since when is our battle over? We are NOT done yet!!"
Boom!
With a deafening clap, a powerful surge of demonic energy spread outward, stirring up fearsome gales.
Looking from a distance, a small shockwave rose up. Within the formidable tempest, Conquest's massive axe gleamed with a bright white light.
"RAWWW!!"
With a fierce roar, Conquest swung his axe at Melian with the force of a mountain, destroying her [Light Streak] attack with minimal effort and sending the Elf Queen flying before she could even react, like a kite with a broken string.
BOOM!!
With a powerful explosion that killed nearby demons, Melian was seen laying on a massive crater with injuries.
A burly figure landed on the ground, creating a small crater. Raising his head in her direction, he slowly approached the injured elf.
Thump!
Thump!
Thump!
Accompanied by heavy steps, an imposing pressure enveloped Melian.
Wearing a scornful smile, a demon clad in white armor and holding a huge ax entered her sight.
"You really thought you could fight me while trying to save the lives of your soldiers?" Conquest chuckled coldly, a flickering black sheen shimmered on his right arm, "Let's see if you can save either yourself or your men."
"[Gravity Suppression]"
After a moment...
BOOOM!
As Conquest raised his giant ax, an immense force descended upon Melian and the soldiers on top of the dam.
SPLOOSH!
In a single instance, as if crushed by an invisible force from above, one hundred soldiers were turned into smush. Their bodies were flattened, causing blood and their internal organs to splatter out like jelly out of a crushed donut.
The oozing liquid painted the surroundings red, even staining the attire of those who stood beside them.
All of this happened... in just a moment.
Melian, meanwhile, was shocked. Faced with Conquest's giant axe, her body felt unnaturally heavy, as if an enormous weight pressed down on her.
And that was then she realized, this was Gravity Magic!
A very rare magic attribute that even skilled mages found difficult to master. Nobody except the nations outside of the Third Civilization Zone were able to learn this magic attribute.
At that moment, a sound akin to the shattering of glass rang out as Conquest's giant axe swung fiercely toward Melian, shattering even the space around it.
BOOM!
With a deafening explosion, the force of the axe sent Melian flying at incredible speed and her body crashed against a mountain in the far distance.
Immediately after Melian was knocked out of the battlefield...
BOOM!
Amidst a series of explosions, the tornado and the towering dam came into contact. The towering dam began to crack, revealing the ever-expanding cracks that resembled a spider's web, which kept spreading.
After a short while, the dam could no longer endure the pressure, and with a deafening crash, sections of the dam shattered into pieces, raining down bits and pieces of rubble.
Meanwhile, the other demons did not remain idle either.
"ROAARRRR!!!"
They came charging like unstoppable machines ready to splat anything in their path. With their weapons and teeth bared, they rushed forward, no fear for death for life was anathema to them. Every demon was urged to kill and they wished for blood as their hatred for life is what pushed them to move and crave for blood.
Then a sound of explosion was heard and a group of Demonic knights and Hell Mounts at the front line were already on the ground. The other demons were momentarily confused, but not before long, more tank shells were rained down upon the demon army. One shell impacted a demon knight's shield and exploded, destroying it. The second impacted on the chest of the demon knight, making him stop and pushing him, but still, the demon knight was on his feet, but a third projectile destroyed its chest and exploded, reducing the demon knight to ashes.
"Sino tayo?!"
"""Ang kinakailangang kasamaan!!"""
"Bakit tayo kailangan?!"
"""Upang linisin ang kasamaan na mas masahol pa kaysa sa mga tao!"""
"At bakit iilan tayong pinili ng Diyos, itinalaga para sa hindi banal na gawaing ito?!"
The 20,000 remaining soldiers of the 19th Black Armored Division brandished their weapons and shouted.
"""Dahil walang iba!"""
"Ngayon ipakita natin ang ating halaga sa imperyo, Templar Knights! Para sa ating mga pamilya! Para sa Inang Bayan! ATAKE!!"
Riding in his personal Mobile Task Fortress, General Francisco Dianopra Agraviador shouted as he raised his saber high in the air. Instantly, a line of over 200 tanks raised their cannons and fired simultaneously, creating a powerful gust of wind that blew away the dust as hundreds of these war machines sent their shells into the demon army, killing hundreds in an instant.
As the battle raged on, with tanks continuing shooting their load and the Filipino Nationalist firing their rifle, the demon army finally reached the first trench line with the loss of thousands when going through all of the onslaught.
Now, with the enemy lines within reach, the demons charged, thirsty for blood and revenge. Even with their numbers heavily reduced, they aimed to trample everything in their path. Mortar shots were falling as a wall, but still couldn't destroy all of the demons.
Then, the Black Armor Army revealed a new weapon. Raging torrents of fire engulfed the closest demons, the flames hot enough to melt metal and reduce the creatures to ashes. Bombs filled with dangerous chemicals were unleashed, reducing hundreds of demons to streams of smoke.
Despite the demons' ferocity and strength powerful enough to tore steel and human bodies apart with ease, the technological might and strategic prowess of the Black Armor Army began to turn the tide.
"Fix bayonets!"
At the command of the ex-priest from the Vatican, thousands of soldiers charged. Such an action would have been considered utterly foolish and suicidal for any army of the Austronesian Empire. Instead, most would have run in fear, but these soldiers never did that. Even after witnessing their comrades die by being cleaved in half or viciously torn apart, they are still charged with zealous hatred and no hint of fear.
As soldiers fell, others swiftly took their place, exploiting openings left by fallen allies. Bayonets found their mark as soldiers stabbed Demonic Knights in the face, firing their rifles one, two, or three times and the demons were no more. Any soldiers that were killed by the demonic knights tried to rise now turned into Deadites, however, their companions didn't hesitate nor doubt to shoot their own comrades' heads.
Now, what was once regarded as a fearsome demon by the Austronesian Empire and the world, the Demonic Knights seemed like helpless animals as they were being slaughtered by the Black Armor Soldiers with minimal effort.
However, what everyone didn't know is that this is just the first wave of the attack from the demon army.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
Accompanying fearsome tremors, a visible black torrent surged toward the dam.
More importantly, the demon leading the stampede charged forward with the ferocity of a train.
"ROARRRR!"
With an earth-shattering roar, a demon resembling a rhinoceros and seemed to be far stronger than any foe the soldiers had faced before, thundered toward them.
Judging by the enormous amount of demonic energy it radiated, this demonic beast was a Transcendent Tier 1.
As demonic energy surged, the Steel-Armored Demonic Rhino accelerated and kept going faster and faster, ultimately transforming into a black streak of light with unstoppable momentum.
Its tough, steel-like hide effectively blocked all attacks from bullets and tank shells, against it.
At this moment, not to mention stopping the Armored Rhino, the mere sight of its charge caused the corners of many soldiers' eyes to involuntarily twitch.
"Why isn't that thing dying?!" shouted a Corporal as he manned the machine gun emplacement he recently set up, shooting madly at the demonic beast that was charging at them. The ammo belt strained and tugged, half pulling the attached ammo-box towards him, and the barrel was beginning to steam and hiss from overheating.
Five more men in the squad were with him, firing away with their MK Mark III rifles, but the entire squad's output of firepower did nothing at the demon as it kept going, running with a speed like a train across the battlefield and crushed any soldiers it came across.
Whenever its massive, heavy feet pounded down upon the ground, in some places, a landmine buried right there would explode but to absolutely no effect on the beast. And it was not alone.
A creature, which suddenly turned into a streak of lightning, traced a 'Z' shape across the battlefield. By the time others realized it, a lightning bolt as thick as a water bucket had already appeared before the battlefield.
"SHRIEEEK!"
With a fearsome shriek, a small but extremely fast demon appeared, its gaze grew colder as its claws stretched out from a crimson lightning bolt as thick as a water bucket.
Swoosh~!
One of the soldiers in the Corporal's squad, before he could even react, was sent flying, with an incredulous look on his face.
"What the hell?" A voice filled with disbelief echoed as the small demon's figure suddenly appeared behind the now flabbergasted Corporal.
Because he saw its appearance that made him perplexed.
"...Is that a mouse?"
BOOM!
Demonic Energy surged as the small demon's gleaming claws aimed for the Corporal's throat. However, after a moment, the demon's lips curled into a mocking smile as if it had discovered something.
In the blink of an eye, the demon turned blurry and disappeared from everyone's sight.
"Where did it go?" Another soldier, who was preparing to ambush the mouse-like demon, cried out in astonishment with a bewildered look on his face.
The next moment, zapping sounds filled the air as silver-white electrical arcs sliced through the atmosphere.
"What is-"
Before any of the soldiers could react, the air within a radius of a hundred-meter trembled violently.
After a moment, much to the soldiers' disbelief, a brilliant silver glow blinded everyone's sight.
Boom!
With a deafening boom, the entire area within a hundred meters turned into a world of lightning, completely filled with electrical discharges.
What that little menace unleashed was a skill known as [Lightning Resonance]. Its deep mastery of lightning allowed it to manipulate electromagnetic forces in the air, transforming the battlefield into a sea of lightning.
It was an extremely horrifying technique that did not discriminate between friend and foe. However, this kind of move was simply perfect to be used right in the middle of the enemy's army.
The next moment, dozens of Black Armor Soldiers fell to the ground, charred.
At that moment...
"[Feather Firestorm]"
Immediately after, a powerful surge of demonic energy swiftly gathered in the vortex in the sky, and countless feathers of flame took form.
And in the next moment, much to the astonishment of countless soldiers of the Black Armored Division, the vast vortex in the sky spewed out countless flaming feathers like a torrential rain.
Swoosh-! Swoosh-! Swoosh-!
Each crimson feather was as fast as a shooting star, streaking across the sky in the blink of an eye, and were rushing against the defenders
Even more terrifying was that these red feathers seemed endless as they covered the entire sky in an instant.
These were the Dragon Commanders' most lethal skills known as [Feather Firestorm]. Compared to the previous attack they unleashed earlier, each of these feathers were the size of human heads. Even though they were a lot smaller, their power surpassed the imagination of ordinary people.
The temperature they generated was so terrifyingly high that even the atmosphere itself distorted. Each flame feather left a long trail of fire behind them, burning the very air.
"INCOMING!"
BOOM!
BOOOM!
BOOM!
In an instant, dozens of tanks were annihilated, several artillery emplacements and heavy weapons were destroyed by a volley of meteoric crimson feathers from the Dragon Commanders.
Within seconds, one-tenth of their tanks were obliterated, thousands of Black Armor soldiers lay dead, and hundreds more had been wounded by the conflagration.
But the defense could not yield. Rifles were still firing, mortar teams were still reloading, the autocannons still spitting death.
Even if they suffered tremendous loss, when the demons rushed up and entered through the breach wall of the dam, they were greeted by a barrage of heavy gunfire before they were even halfway there.
The knights, warriors, and the beast of Hell enjoyed a different and more equally effective medium.
The elderly Hell Priest imposed their apocryphal hands, singing their impure enchantments upon the wicked warriors.
These risen warriors scaled the breached walls in search of retribution. Many fell to HEAT rounds exploding their bodies mid-ascent, or to high-speed projectiles bursting them to pieces, but it would not be enough. Upon reaching the defenders' lines, their swords would descend upon their victims, basking in the death and brutality of their revenge on their fellowmen. Several fell under their blades and many others became their slaves bound in death, forced to fight against their former comrades in close combat where the risen warriors excelled.
But the warriors of Maharlika stand their ground
Tongues of burning fire caressed the demons with destruction. Waves of explosive rounds obliterated demon after demon and annihilated them for each shot.
The Black Armor soldiers refused to surrender
But it was not enough.
More demonic knights poured in. More slaves were added to their ranks. The flamethrowers burned, but reduced the points of defense where they were now overrun by demons armed with various melee weapons, sneaking in like the water escaping from a dam that has been broken. It was only a matter of time before the soldiers would break.
General Trese, having narrowly survived the collapse of part of the dam and the bombardment from these giant flying lizards, threw her sniper rifle as it was now useless. Gripping her combat knife tightly, she charged into the midst of the demons. With a swift slash, she separated the head of a Humanoid Horse Demon who had its back when it engaged in splitting one soldier in two who had been moments ago at her side.
Being the disciple trained by the infamous General Agraviador, she skillfully stabbed her knife into another foe's sternum and reduced hordes of Possessed soldiers who had been her comrades' moments ago to rotten pieces. Black blood and rotten fluids splashed her, from the living Evil Dead she cut.
She knew that they would soon be overwhelmed, the number was simply too big, but she fought on relentlessly. At that moment, she noticed a random female soldier in the distance was thrown to the ground, where egg-shaped demons lay in wait for victims. The unfortunate soldier screamed in pure agony as the demon disemboweled her in a gruesome display and Trese knew it was too late to save her.
If Trese was going to die on this day and in this place, she would not be intimidated. Instead, she would face it without fear. She had seen the example of courage in these men and women, in how it was their duty to resist against the horrors of war that would have driven anyone insane. In their bravery, she found honor, knowing they fought not only for glory but to defend against unspeakable evil.
Suddenly, the voice of the Major General crackled through Trese's comms, breaking the chaos of battle.
"[Dear mother of Christ, what happened over there?]"
"We beat the shit out of a number of these demonic cunts! But they're hitting back hard, and we've taken significant losses. As for that elf, I don't know, she just got hammered!"
"[Well, may God bless their souls.]"
"General, the entire dam is on the verge of collapse. What are your orders?" Trese asked urgently.
"[Keep fighting! I'll deploy Heaven's Punch and rally the remaining tanks to position them one kilometer from the dam. When the dam goes down, we'll send these demons straight back to hell!]"
"General, when can we expect reinforcements?" Trese inquired, hope flickering in her voice.
"[No men will come to aid us, my dear.]"
"What do you mean? Didn't you say earlier we'd get help from outside!" Trese pressed.
"[I did. And by that, I meant from above.]"
Trese glanced skyward and saw a plane approaching.
"A plane? Is that it?" she questioned.
"[No... it's the Angels.]"
With a raised eyebrow, Trese squinted into the sky once more. And she saw them, small white dots erupted from the bottom of the plane and were descending to the earth. In seconds, her heart swelled with hope as she watched them descend fast as lightning, like the punishment of a divine being on those who dare to harm the humanity he has worked so hard to protect.
Ten objects fell between the invaders, just a few meters from the collapsing dam. The precision of the dropping of their arrival was awe-inspiring, reminiscent of meteors crashing down with the wrath of a god.
And the invaders felt the impact firsthand.
It was as if a massive meteor had been sent to the earth.
Each drop pod opened, revealing a pair of red glowing eyes. As they stepped out, they were revealed to be humanoids clad in armor that nobody had ever seen in this world and wielded weapons capable of laying waste to entire armies.
These were members of the Austronesian Empire's secret task force.
The Archangels Unit.
