[Moments Earlier]
A battlefield is chaos.
It is a wide layout of destruction. And as such, it requires capable soldiers to be strategically spread out in the canvas of carnage in order for it truly to be called a battle.
Different brigades are led by competent leaders, and they handle various battle positions while properly sticking to the established formation.
Every role is important or crucial, and is required to remain firm, from the vanguard, to the flanks, to the rear defenses and support. Otherwise, failure is inevitable.
That is the nature of war.
And Conquest knew this well. He had analyzed the battle and weighed his results. These humans had acted faster than expected, and not only that, they were pretty merciless and brutally efficient. The human army they fight, or rather, massacred in this world and many others, would typically spend time mourning tragedies, adjusting to the shock, and coping with the crisis.
But these humans were simply indifferent.
He ordered the demon army to be deployed separately, maintaining a distance of no less than five meters between each soldier. He had decided to launch the attack from two kilometers away to start running. There was no problem in that as these demons never experienced fatigue the same as undead. However, he was confident that the humans' weapons wouldn't inflict significant damage on the stronger demons. Still, they could potentially fall due to accumulated damage. He had witnessed these weapons obliterate a Possessed human, so perhaps less than a hundred shots would be enough to take down a demonic knight.
The demon charge continued to advance, with a considerable distance still separating them from the enemy lines. The sandbags and trenches caught his attention. While typically pointless in battle, with these weapons, their purpose became clear. It indicated that the humans heavily relied on ranged attacks. If the demons could reach melee range, victory would be theirs.
Conquest had expected these humans to have some hidden advantage or triumph card, but this was unforeseen. He had only received information about the weapons they used in the city where they were summoned. But seeing the vastness of their arsenal, he made a mental note of it.
But this development was still within his expectations.
After all, this was an experiment. A testing ground to see how these humans were able to defend against this demon wave. If he wanted to, he could destroy this city with no problem.
But the only thing that he didn't expect was these ten powerful humans, who managed to eradicate thousands of demons and killed dozens of noble-class ones despite the lack of mana or any weapons imbued with magic or possessing any form of supernatural/cosmic power. If he compared them to any strong humans he knew, they were probably as strong as the Human Heroes on that one world he had invaded.
At that moment, he noticed the flying machines approaching his direction. Conquest would have loved to study them further, to learn more about their technology. Even for the Demonic Angels or Dragons, achieving supersonic speeds would have been challenging unless using a skill.
And those weapons of mass destruction that nearly decimated the demon army and slightly injured the Demon Lord. They were a threat. If these humans possessed more weapons like those, they could pose significant danger, even for Archdemons like him.
Still, even if they decimate millions of their demon army, these demons were disposable, easy to replace, and very low cost.
"Well... it's time to spice things up a bit."
Saying this, he telepathically sent a message to a nearby Archdemon.
————————————————————
Thud!
With a heavy thud, the last headless bodies of the Archangel unit collapsed on the floor, lifeless.
It was a dishonorable death. A cowardly death without any martial value.
Their deaths seemed so painfully meaningless that it was an insult to the lives they had lived and the many years of training and development that forged them into the Austronesian's superweapons.
Trese witnessed all this. Ten cybernetic superhumans, capable of wiping out entire armies, died in a split second. What could be able to do this?
Meanwhile, inside one of the AH-72 attack helicopters, the pilot and gunner continued their deadly dance in the skies, raining rounds and rockets upon the demon forces scattered across the field outside the dam.
"Hey, what's your plan if we make it out of this?" the pilot shouted over the din of battle.
The gunner shrugged, "I don't know. Get bitches and get drunk."
"I don't think they-"
[Attention! Attention!] a voice blurted out from the radio, [There is a target approaching from your east! Flying at mach 9.2!]
"What?! Mach 9.2?! What is it?" The pilot loudly asked.
[We don't know! It's too fast!]
"How the hell can they travel that fa-"
The pilot began to ask, but before he could finish, a blinding beam of light pierced through their attack helicopter and a dozen others nearby, causing both aircraft to explode instantly, reducing them and everyone aboard to nothingness in an instant.
"What the hell!?" one of the Black Armor soldiers on top of the dam exclaimed as he witnessed dozens of their attack helicopters explode in less than a second, taken out by something incredibly fast.
Upon closer inspection, he saw that it was a giant demon with wings and a weapon.
"Focus on your fire! We're going to tear that thing apart!"
Almost all the autocannons on the dam detected the fast-moving entity and began shooting it down, but all their attempts were unsuccessful because of how fast the entity is approaching the dam at high speed, while being actively engaged in enemy fire without taking damage.
"What!?"
With a menacing grin on his face, the demon flew straight into the dam, impacting the wall with full force and bursting into a massive, violent explosion, setting a large portion of the dam ablaze, killing thousands of soldiers and extinguishing them all with flames that have been raging throughout the structure. In the immediate aftermath of the demon's kamikaze attack, one soldier was set on fire, screaming in agony and subsequently being crushed by falling debris.
Within the sea of flames, the demon rose from the inferno, completely unharmed, and spread its massive wings that extinguish the surrounding flames.
"Are these the humans of whom Lord Conquest has been so worried?" the Archdemon known as Lord War asked with disappointment. His obsidian-colored battle armor gleamed in the moonlight. He lifted the hand, and a dark sphere, the one that killed the squad of the Archangel unit, landed in his palm.
It was a gift from his superiors, a magic item of great power.
"It doesn't matter which world they were from. Humans were always be weak inferior beings."
Turning his attention to the massive breach he had created in the dam, he watched as his legion, which were more fearsome and formidable than Conquest's, did not miss the opportunity and charged forward without hesitation.
Hundreds of thousands of the forces of hell advanced through the fissure, killing and massacring the defenders more than anything. Soldiers were devoured by hordes of demonic beasts, and thousands of them died in horrible ways. Many soldiers hardly resisted, buying all the time necessary with their own lives to allow the others to retreat.
"Good," he muttered with a shit-eating grin. "Devour! Empty the city! Do not leave any human alive!"
The demon army obeyed him without hesitation. With an overflowing thirst for blood they increased their bloody frenzy by killing more and more until rivers of blood ran through the streets.
However, hundreds of those iron elephants in the distance from the dam kept firing their fire magic from their snouts at the demon army, holding them off better than the forces on the front lines.
"Hello, Lord War," a familiar voice spoke from behind.
"Lord Conquest, did you simply watch everything from the corner like a coward again?" War sneered at the Archdemon standing behind him.
"I'm simply analyzing the battle, because their way of fighting is vastly different compared to the numerous worlds we've been through. I am curious about their tactics and strategy."
"Who cares about tactics and strategy when it's all fighting!" War shouted at his companion with a hint of rage. "If you and the other two had followed my way, we wouldn't have lost millions of our forces against that one world and faced humiliation from our brethren!"
"That was one time," Conquest sighed. "Let's just get over it. I dealt with the elf, but I don't know if she's dead or not. But it doesn't matter, we should deal with those iron elephants over there."
"If you're thinking about killing them in an honourable way or whatever ideology you had in mind, keep it to yourself. Instead, a show of strength is necessary in these cases," War said harshly, setting his eyes on the battalion of tanks in the distance.
"[Meteor Fall]"
With that incantation, the area around them brightened and a massive shadow was casted over the battlefield. Looking up, Conquest saw a blinding orange light forming in the sky.
No.
That wasn't a light.
Falling from the sky was a ball of rock and fire as a giant blazing meteor was descending directly to the battalion of tanks with unstoppable force. The shimmering light from the friction of its descent was enough to blind all onlookers.
"What the hell is that!?" a tank crew member on one of the tanks yelled out in surprise, noticing the sky had gone dark all of a sudden, except for one intensely bright spot.
Stopping what they were doing, all of the Black Armor soldiers had to shield their eyes with their forearms and squint to see what was happening.
"What the...?" General Francisco whispered as he shielded his eyes from the blinding light and the intense heat they were all feeling.
To the onlookers, it appeared as if the sun itself was falling from the sky. Despite being miles away from the ground, they could still feel the shockwave and the scorching heat of the air where they stood from the meteor's approach.
"Lord have mercy! Everyone, scatter!" he shouted to his men, "Driver, move now!"
In a panic, the driver of the tank fortress drove forward, followed by other tanks as they scattered in every direction. Not long after, the entire battlefield erupted into chaos as soldiers and vehicles scrambled to escape the impending cataclysm.
As the meteor ripped through the air and the shockwave destroyed all the surrounding areas, it crashed into the entire field where the tank battalion was positioned.
Before-
BOOOOOMMM!!!
The earth shook violently upon impact, and the meteor exploded in a fiery light, sending its intense heat and powerful shockwaves across the landscape. The sheer power of the explosion obliterated the battalion and the surrounding area, leaving nothing but smoldering wreckage in its wake and filling the sky with a blinding white light.
In an instant, half the forces of the tank battalion and thousands of more soldiers were wiped out.
War smirked with satisfaction. "Now, let's see how they handle that," he said before turning to face his companion, "You're welcome," he added, spreading his wings and flying into the sky to deal with the remaining of these flying machines.
"I should've never called you here... you dishonorable bastard," Conquest muttered, watching War moving across the sky like a bolt of lightning and slaughtering the rest of the attack helicopters.
Bang!
All of a sudden, a bullet struck his head. While the attack could not dent the armor even so was useless, but he noticed the place where the shot had reached it had charred, damaging the color of the armor's pristine surface.
Feeling a bit annoyed, Conquest looked up ahead and surprisingly saw a human soldier, while injured, still had that hateful zealotry glare towards him.
"Demon!" the soldier roared venomously as he pulled out a blade and attached it to his weapon, "Mabuhay ka para sa pilipinas!!"
Behind the soldier were more soldiers emerging from the trenches, rushing toward Conquest while guns firing or bayonets raised in a desperate charge.
Fully resolved to die, the soldiers gave voice to a cry from the depths of their souls as they charged towards the Archdemon of Greed.
Conquest calmly regarded the fanatic warriors bearing down on him.
"Their actions may be foolish, but they are not ignorant of my power," he thought. "Yet they still charge into a battle that was already deemed lost for them."
Beneath Conquest's white mask, his lips curved into a smile as memories flashed before his eyes.
"Reminds me of the time of my conquests," he reflected, briefly nostalgic.
But in the next moment, his expression hardened into a frown.
"And the betrayal of my son."
Tightening his grip on his axe, Conquest sighed deeply. The memories of that fateful battle, where his empire crumbled and got stabbed by his own son, still haunted him.
Feeling a surge of anger welling up in his heart, Conquest instinctively unleashed one of his most powerful skills, the same one he had used to end his son's life before his own demise.
“Freeze,” He whispered in his heart as a wave of freezing cold expanded from his body, instantly filling a kilometer-wide radius.
The temperature plummeted dramatically upon exposure to the intense cold, and the very air itself seemed to groan under it.
Within moments, a massive and powerful blizzard was formed, freezing all the Black Armor soldiers and everything within hundreds of meters around them.
In just a few breaths, almost half of the city, along with hundreds of soldiers and countless buildings were frozen and turned into ice sculptures along with the giant meteor that War summoned and the surrounding environment.
The landscape that had been a battlefield moments ago, now resembled a frozen wasteland.
"...Hm, my mistake."
