Yudhishthir had managed to ignite a small fire to keep themselves warn. Knowing that Aanyati's clothes are still wet he did this work in no time. Aanyati just sat there looking at him.
For her, he is like dharm, complicated and hard to believe. The way she is searching for a proper definition of Dharma, she also yearns to know him but he hardly shares anything about himself. From every conversation they had, she knew he is true to his Dharma but again the same question jumps in.
What is Dharma?
" You said you never lie. " Aanyati began. Yudhishthir too sat across the fire listening to her curious questions. " Then why did you told that Brahmin that your father died when you were young?"
" Because it's the truth Rajkumari. My father died when I was young. Since then my mother and brothers are my everything" he answered. Aanyati was looking for a hint of sadness in his voice but there wasn't. Yudhishthir as if understood her confusion continued
" There's no benifit of mourning over past Rajkumari, people ofter keep wondering about future or mourning about past. If you start living in present, you yourself become happy " he said with the same calmness which feels really comforting. Aanyati was really confused about his character. He is powerful like a kshtriya and knowledgeable like a Brahmin. She have millions of questions in her mind which she wants to ask but is afraid if his answers can do justice to those questions.
In this time, she didn't even realise that she was constantly staring at him. He knew she is lost in her thoughts so he continued adding small wood pieces to fire. Only he knew how good that gaze felt to him.
Aanyati's tranc broke with the sound of someone roaring came. Yudhishthir became attentive and stood in front of her.
Who will tell him she is the student of Bhagwan Parshuram himself?
Aanyati's gaze travelled throughout the area.
" I can't believe this" came a heavy voice. Both turned toward the source of that voice. There stood a demon himself. His size was the proof of him being a demon.
" Oh great warrior don't shield her from my eyes. Let my eyes be blessed by her beauty" he laughed. Yudhishthir didn't even move. Aanyati felt disgusted and remained behind him. That demon through his powers appeared behind Aanyati.
" Such beauty is hard to find" he praised. Yudhishthir came forward again. But he is a magical demon.
" Her face, it shines like the moon, no chandrdev too have scars on him but her face is so flawless. " He inhaled sharply " this fragrance it's mesmerising. Her curves, her hips, her breasts, everything is perfect. She is what beauty is " he gazed upon her. His lustful eyes scanning her body.
" Oh you don't want to come to me, don't worry, I will change myself for you jagat sundari. " Saying that he transformed into a young handsome man with sword on his waist. He started moving forward toward Aanyati whereas Yudhishthir holded his spear tightly ready to attack.
Yudhishthir for once just blinked his eyes and the very next moment that demon was lying headless on ground. He was too surprised to digest what just happened. He turned around to look for Aanyati. His breath stopped for once. He felt as if Devi Kali is standing in front of him.
Aanyati was holding on that demon's sword in one hand and his head in other by his hairs. Her white saree had drops of blood all over it. So were on her face. Her chest was heaving up and down while her eyes spitted fire.
Next few moments passed in complete silence. Then Aanyati left the sword and his head. She immediately turned around covering her chest with her hands. She realised her clothes are not dry yet and are stick to her body like second skin. Yudhishthir too came out of his tranc and observed the situation.
He was confused wheather to be happy or sad. Happy that till now Aanyati trusted him enough to not hide herself but now she was which meant she don't trust.
He too turned to the other side searching for a cloth or something. He himself was wearing his shield so he had no angvastr on him.
He finally picked up that demon's angvastr and handed it to Aanyati without looking at her. Aanyati took it immediately and covered herself with it.
Suddenly a loud sound came. As if it's the sign of that demon's death. Slowly, a lot of demons started surrounding them one by one .
A man larger than the other demons as well came forward.
" All the demons of my kingdom are present here to punish this human who killed our brother. Oh lord vrikodhar bless us " saying that a magical sword appeared in his hand which he charged toward Aanyati. The sword stopped in between by Yudhishthir's spear.
" Fight with me first to kill her" he said in a determined voice.
" So eager to die" he laughed " who are you to protect her?"
" I am the angrakshak of Panchal Kumari" he said standing still.
Everyone's expressions changed. The demons who looked hungry for her flesh paled. Most of them bowed in front of her so did their king.
Aanyati and Yudhisthir stood their confused.
" Please forgive us, Prakriti rani. We had no idea who you are. Otherwise we would have never attacked on the owner of our land " he said in an apologetic voice.
Aanyati hardly registered his words, prakriti rani, owner?
Meanwhile Yudhishthir who knows about her divine birth sighted in relief.
How can he forget. This Mayavi Van was created by Devi Prakriti after Aanyati's birth.
" Who am I to forgive you? If you are really sorry for your brother's deed then take us out of this van right now" she said in dead serious and stern voice.
" As you wish mai" said the demon king taking them out of the van in an instance by his powers.
" I am grateful to lord vrikodhar, he didn't send you to the left. That Hidimb have no respect toward any human " he said bidding good bye to them.
Aanyati walked in all confusion beside Yudhishthir.
" What's the reason to this dilemma Rajkumari?" He asked in his comforting voice.
" Why did that demon called me Mai?" She asked straight.
" Cause you are the reason they got their own land to rule on " he answered obviously.
" Elaborate " she ordered.
" When you were born out of the holy fire, mata Prakriti herself donated the burnt land to demons to live by " he said.
Aanyati's mind did a whole 360° turn. What the hell I just heard. She thought.
Her legs didn't work any longer. Her throat dried.
Pita Shri is not my birth father. She registered the first fact.
Now everything made sense to her. Why she is called as Agnotri. Why her name is Vriti. Why she always gets peace in the forest. Why everyone see fire in her. Why some people worship her like goddess. Why her face is so beautiful. Why everyone is so eager to make her their kulvadhu. It's all because of her divine birth, her real parents.
She was hurt and why would not she be? Her father whom she love more than anyone had betrayed her. Why didn't he tell her about all this.
She wanted to run to her father, scold him, get angry on him for hiding this fact. But she did nothing.
She just simply walked to her chamber through the secret door.
Yudhishthir stood there confused of her behaviour. Don't she know about all this. She don't. He finally concluded and regretted the next moment for telling her. The pain was visible in her eyes clearly.
Aanyati entered her chamber where Moti bombarded her with million of questions . She said nothing. She just listened to all her scolding silently lost in her thoughts. Moti too stopped seeing her like this. She asked but Aanyati was in no state of replying. She wanted to cry but no tears came out of her eyes.
Moti left her alone to know the reason of her state.
" What had happened to her?" She asked Yudhisthir getting out.
" She got to know about her birth story" he answered with his head straight.
Moti sighted. " It was meant to happen one day. No one can do anything. Hiding this fact was Maharaj's biggest mistake. Only God knows how will she accept this fact" she said going away.
Moti was right. It was taking a lot of time for her to accept this fact. She was not even coming out of her chamber. One by one, Maharaj Drupad, Shrikhandini, Swarnika, Moti, everyone came and returned.
The tears which Maharaj was trying to hide were visible to Yudhisthir clearly. He was regretting telling her all this.
She ate nothing for past two days. Neither she had any interaction with anyone.
All were strictly prohibited from entering her chamber. Yudhishthir was given this responsibility who himself wanted to meet her. Console her.
She is sad about the lie her father told not about her birth. He thought and waited for her to come out......
