(Y/N) woke up to the sound of his alarm. He wasn't sure what day it was. He felt a bit dazed. The last thing he remembered was shooting a laser beam with all his strength. Thinking back at it, the whole situation felt like a fever dream. Did they really win?

(Y/N) checked his clock and saw it was time for him to get ready for school. (Y/N) assumed since his house was in one piece and his alarm clock was set, meant everything went well.

(Y/N): Hey Calavera, you around?

No answer

(Y/N): That's weird.

(Y/N) decided he would take a shower and get ready for school. Calavera wasn't irresponsible so he would look for her in another location she would most likely be at (Which would be either at Ichigo's house or the Urahara shop).

With the Hollow situation handled, everyone safe and a well deserved good night's rest, (Y/N) was back in his easy going ways.

After getting prepared for school, (Y/N) was greeted with an unusual sight.

(S/N): Morning (Y/N).

Calavera: You're finally awake.

(S/N) was holding Calavera's stuffed body in her hands while eating a bowl of cereal. Guess it was time to address the elephant in the room.

(Y/N): Yeah, I'm finally feeling better. So you and Calavera got along well?

(S/N): Yeah, it took some time getting used to talking to a stuffed animal but she's pretty cool.

...

Silence...

Calavera: So are you gonna talk about yesterday or not? Let's be honest it's gonna stay awkward if you don't talk about it.

(Y/N): *sign* Yeah you're right.

(Y/N) had to mentally prepare himself before info dumping everything he knew about Shinigamis, Hollows and everything in between.

(S/N) couldn't do anything but listen. She didn't want to believe it but everything she saw the day before was fresh in her mind.

(S/N): This is a lot to take in. So these past few months you've been a "Shinigami". You've been fighting these things?

(Y/N): Yep. Me and Ichigo to be exact.

(S/N): H-Have you told dad?

(Y/N): Hell no, do you want that man to have a heart attack? Besides, he's stressed out enough as it is with work, I don't want him to worry about me too.

(S/N): And you think I wouldn't worry?

(Y/N): Of course I did, which is why I didn't tell you. But obviously, you had to find out sooner or later.

(S/N) signed. She knew her brother was way too kind for his own good.

(S/N): Look, even if I asked you to stop, you wouldn't do it. So the only thing I ask is that you don't be reckless.

(Y/N): Of course. I wouldn't be able to protect you if I'm dead now, can I?

(S/N): You're a goofball. Anyway let's get going, school is gonna start soon.

(Y/N): Right behind you. Alright Calavera, let's get ready. We still gotta bug Uryu some more. We need him to stitch you back together.

Calavera: Way ahead of you.

(Timeskip)

You met up with everyone in class, it seems as though everyone who was present during the Hollow invasion was in good health. Well, except for Uryu. His arms were wrapped up in bandages and he had to use a crutch to help him walk.

Ichigo, doing something nice for once, actually invited Uryu to have lunch with the boys.

So here was (Y/N), Ichigo, Keigo, Mizuiro and Chad all joined by Uryu to eat on the school's rooftop. (Y/N) wanted to use this chance to apologise to Uryu for how he acted the day before.

Ichigo didn't do a good job at being friendly, and Uryu wasn't going to pretend either. (Y/N) tried to be the bridge to start a decent conversation, but it went as well as you would think.

As lunch time came to an end, (Y/N) was stopped by Uryu.

(Y/N): What's up?

Uryu: Your stuffed animal, let me see it.

(Y/N): Huh? O-Okay.

(Y/N), took Calavera's Soul Candy out of the stuffed animal and handed it over to Uryu. Uryu stitches up the doll at inhumane speeds and hands it back to (Y/N) looking almost as good as new.

(Y/N): Thanks Uryu.

Uryu just huffed and left the rooftop.

(Y/N): Our talks are great.

(Meanwhile) Rukia's POV

Rukia was invited to eat Lunch with the girls of the class and well... Rukia got involved in usual girl talk, something she had no interest in.

Mahana: Hey, can I ask you something? Do you have a crush on Ichigo?

Rukia did a spit take.

Rukia: Huh?

Mahana: I'll take that as a maybe, but what exactly is your relationship with that guy?

Rukia: Well, he's my friend.

Michiru: Mahana, that's not the kind of question you ask straight out like that.

Mahana: I don't see why not. It's the question you wanted to ask her yourself, but none of you were willing to do it. So I just did it for you.

Michiru: Hey, just who said I wanted to know anything like that anyway?

Mahana: Well, I still wanna know the answer. What do you have against Ichigo anyway, Michiru?

Michiru: It's not that I have anything against him. I just think there's something kind of scary looking about his face, that's all.

Orihime: Scary looking? Well, I don't think so. I like his face.

Michiru: Really? You must have changed your mind then, because I know you used to be afraid of him too. Well, what's the story, Rukia?

Rukia: Ichigo and I are... Ichigo and I are just friends. That's all there is to it.

Many of the girls didn't realise it but Rukia seemed to have something on her mind. And to be quite distant from the conversation. It seemed as though her thoughts were elsewhere.

(Timeskip) (Y/N)'s POV

(Y/N) was working his shift at Urahara Shop, when suddenly he felt two strong spiritual energies arrive.

(Y/N): Mr. Urahara, did you feel that?

Urahara: Sure did. Guess they're finally here.

(Y/N): Who's here?

Urahara: Shinigami from the Soul Society.

(Y/N): What would they be here for?

Urahara: Who else? Your friend Rukia.

(Y/N): Huh?

Urahara: Ms. Kuchiki gave Ichigo her Shinigami powers. That's a taboo among shinigami. Now they've finally caught up to her.

(Y/N): What? That's just stupid. All she did was help someone survive a Hollow attack. Isn't that supposed to be her job?

Urahara: It's not that simple. The Soul Society is very strict when it comes to laws and tradition. If they were too lax with their laws, there's a possibility they could disrupt the balance that they fought so hard to keep.

(Y/N): So what's going to happen to Rukia if they find her?

Urahara: Unfortunately, Ms. Kuchiki will be executed for breaking the law.

(Y/N) froze after hearing about the consequences Rukia would have to face. This didn't sit well with you at all. (Y/N) left his post and walked towards the entrances of the store.

Urahara: And where do you think you're going?

(Y/N): To save Rukia.

Urahara: You'll die if you fight against those two. They aren't your run of the mill Shinigami. The two that came for Rukia are a Lieutenant and a Captain level Shinigami. Outside of the Head Captain, those two hold the highest rank in the Shinigami hierarchy.

(Y/N): I don't have to fight them. I just have to make sure they don't find her.

Urahara: They'll turn this city upside down to find Ms. Kuchiki. They won't leave until she's back in the Soul Society. And you better believe the moment they find out you exist, they'll come after you too.

(Y/N): I'll take the risk.

(Y/N) left the store in a hurry, entering Shinigami Form the moment he left the door. Urahara just signed before mumbling to himself.

Urahara: Maybe if he learned Shikai, he would stand a chance.

Tessai entered the store right as (Y/N) left.

Tessai: Is he going after Ms Kuichiki?

Urahara: Afraid so.

Tessai: So, what do we do?

Urahara: We wait. If (Y/N) comes back alive, then we'll just have to speed up his training. Alongside Ichigo's as well. Knowing both of them, they'll track down Ms Kuchiki until the end of time.

Urahara got up.

Urahara: (Y/N) has the potential. To be honest, it's a bit scary. He's improved at an alarming rate since he became a Shinigami. But then again, he is the son of one of the strongest humans on Earth. And let's not get started on Ichigo.

Tessai: Those boys could turn the Soul Society tradition on their head if they keep it up.

Urahara: They sure can.

(Timeskip)

(Y/N) was moving as fast as he could to Rukia's location. He felt Uryu's spiritual pressure on his way out of Urahara shop but it almost immediately vanished. It felt dim but Uryu was still alive. Thankfully Ichigo's spiritual pressure showed up right after.

(Y/N): Good, if me and Ichigo teamed up we can probably take one of them down and hopefully distract the other one so we can get Rukia out of here.

(Y/N) entered the battlefield (the middle of the street) as things were heating up. (Y/N) noticed Ichigo's opponent. He had brown eyes and long crimson hair, which was kept in a high ponytail. He wore a visor alongside the Shinigami Black kimono. His last prominent physical feature was the tattoos that were on his forehead.

(Y/N) looked further down the road and saw what he suspected to be the Captain that Urahara mentioned. He had slate grey eyes and long black hair, with a hair piece in his hair. Topped with a white scarf around his neck.

(Y/N) saw the Red hair shinigami pushing Ichigo back.

Red: It's over. Very soon, you'll be dead, and Rukia will get her powers back. And then, Rukia will go back to the Soul Society to die. Man, you are as dumb as they come. Rukia came out here on her own, just so you wouldn't have to get involved. You should have stayed put at home, but you had to come play the hero. Just what did you think you could accomplish here? You're not a Reaper. You're a fake. There's no way you could hurt a real Soul Reaper. You couldn't even lay a scratch on one of us.

(Y/N) decided to interrupt the Red Hair shinigami's speech, using Shunpo to instantly catch him off guard and thrusting his zanpakuto towards his abdomen.

(Y/N): So if he's a fake, then what does that make me?

Red: What the hell? A second one? There's no way Rukia would be able to share her powers between two humans.

(Y/N): You're right about that. I found out on my own.

(Y/N) lied as to not sell out Urahara, but he at least wanted to clear up the misunderstanding.

(Y/N): Now, do you wanna take on the both of us or do you need your friend to jump in to make this fight fair?

Red: You think I can't take on the both of you? You're both just newbies!

(Y/N): Let's go Ichigo! Ichigo: Right!

(Y/N) and Ichigo dash towards the Shinigami, with well coordinated attacks while also blocking and reflecting any counter attacks that may have come their way. To be frank, Ichigo and (Y/N) were pushing the Lieutenant back.

Captain: You let your guard down, Renji.

(Y/N) finally heard the name of the Red Hair Shinigami.

Renji: Captain Kuchiki.

Hearing the name of the captain was what took (Y/N) for a surprise. He shared the same last name as Rukia. So they were related in some way. Knowing that Rukia's own family was out for her execution made (Y/N) upset. How could her own family be okay with her dying?

Captain Kuchiki: The young man with the orange hair, Ichigo Kurosaki, I believe I've seen him before. There was a report from the Secret Remote Squad. He dealt the Menos Grande quite a serious blow, and forced it back to Hueco Mundo as well. Which means the other boy must be (Y/N) (L/N). He aided in Kurosaki's fight against the Menos Grande.

Renji: Huh? You've gotta be kidding me. Man, the Secret Remote Squad must really be slipping these days. These two kids wounded a Menos Grande? Who in their right mind would believe that load of crap? I mean look at the orange haired kid, Captain. And that zanpakuto. It's nothing but an overgrown piece of junk. He obviously can't control his spirit energy.

Renji turned to Ichigo.

Renji: So tell me, what's the name of that monstrosity?

Ichigo: Huh?

Renji: What's its name? You didn't even ask, did you?

Ichigo: What? You mean Rukia? Wait, are you guys telling me you all name your swords?

Renji: I knew it. You're not even able to ask your zanpakuto its name. And you really think you could fight me as an equal? Come back in 2,000 years. And what about you?

Renji pointed at (Y/N)

Renji: Did you bother asking for your zanpakuto's name?

(Y/N): Can't say I know what you're talking about.

Renji: *laugh* Then you're both lost causes.

Renji then places his hand on his zanpakuto while taking a stance.

Renji: Roar, Zabimaru.

Renji's zanpakuto started to change into a 6-part segmented blade with 2 pick-like protrusions on the front and back of each segment. You weren't sure what just happened, but you didn't like the looks of it.

Renji: Now open your eyes. See what lies before you... And fall upon your prey. It's all over, you little runt.

Renji then threw his blade like a lasso as it extended towards Ichigo. It latched onto Ichigo's shoulder and tore through it.

Renji: You've lost to Renji Abarai and will die where you stand.

Sorry it's ending this way, kid. But that's what's known as a difference in strength. That's because the Zanpakuto can change its size and shape in response to the wielder's spirit energy.

Renji turned his attention towards (Y/N).

Renji: You're next.

(Y/N) immediately casted Bakudo #39 Enkosen as a reaction to Renji's Long range Zanpakuto attack. This surprised Renji a bit.

Renji: You know Kidou spells huh? You might be a better challenge than Carrot Top.

(Y/N) quickly healed Ichigo's wound with Kaidou before jumping back into the fight. (Y/N) used Shunpo to close the distance so that he could take away the long range distance advantage that Renji had on him.

(Y/N) decided to try something new: Mixing Zanjutsu with Hakuda in order to fight more unpredictably.



(Y/N) seemed to be keeping up with Renji for a bit but the versatility that Renji's new ability gave him was able to shift that fight in this favor.

But right as Renji was about to land a devastating blow to (Y/N), Ichigo jumped in for a sneak attack, cutting Renji in the shoulder.

Ichigo then followed up with a sword wing to the chest, which cut Renji's visor and cut into his forehead.



(Y/N) brushed off dirt from his Kimono before readjusting to a battle stance.

Renji: Both of their spiritual pressures' are increasing. Impossible! What is with these kids? Carrot Top was ready to die just a minute ago. So then how'd he get this new found power? And the (H/C) guy. Despite being a newbie he's versatile in all of the shinigami fighting styles. There's no way he doesn't have a Captain level Shinigami teaching him?

Ichigo: Hah! I'll tell you exactly what's wrong. It's just your moves have somehow suddenly become a lot slower.

(Y/N): Actually, you've gotten faster.

Ichigo: I don't understand what's happening to me, but I like it. In fact I feel totally invincible!

(Y/N): We can take him Ichigo! One final push!

Ichigo: Hell yeah!

Renji: Why, you! Zabimaru, time for you to roar!

(End Song)

As Ichigo and (Y/N) charged Renji they were swiftly cut off by the sudden destruction of Ichigo's zanpakuto and (Y/N)'s zanpakuto flying out of his hands.

(Y/N): My Zanpakuto. Where did it go?

Ichigo: But-- he didn't do anything. Was it him? Impossible. He couldn't have, from that distance. What just happened? Did he cut me? What's more, if he did, I can't tell if I was hit from the back or the front.

(Y/N): It hurts.

In a split second, Captain Kuichi took down both (Y/N) and Ichigo.

Captain Kuchiki: You're slow. Even when you are falling. What's the matter, Renji?

Renji: Huh? Uh, I really didn't need your help defeating those kids, Captain. There was no reason for you to interfere. I could've handled this myself.

Captain Kuchiki: Come now, Renji. Even I will get rusty if all I ever do is watch. Do you agree?

Renji: No. This they're different. They must be-

Rukia: Ichigo! (Y/N)! No!

Renji: No, don't!

Renji grabbed Rukia, stopping her from coming to (Y/N) and Ichigo's aid.

Rukia: Renji. Let go. Let me go!

Renji: What does it matter now, you fool? They're already dead!

Rukia: It's my fault that Ichigo's dead! And (Y/N) too! So what the hell's wrong with me going to them?

Captain Kuchiki: So even if it would make your sentence harsher, you truly feel that you must help them. Is that what you're saying to me?

Rukia: I am, brother.

Captain Kuchiki then looked down towards Ichigo.

Captain Kuicki: I understand, Rukia. This young man does indeed bear a striking resemblance to him.

Just then, a hand grabbed onto Captain Kuichiki's leg.

Ichigo: I'd rather that you quit talking about me like I'm not even here, got it?

Captain Kuchiki: Let go.

Ichigo: Sorry, I couldn't hear you. Try looking at me when you talk.

Renji: This kid is still able to move? But that's impossible!

Captain Kuchiki: I see. It looks like you won't be needing that arm.

But before Captain Kuichiki could grab his zanpakuto, Rukia kicked Ichigo's arm, causing him to let go.

Ichigo: Rukia, what are you doing?

Rukia: You are just a human. You are just a lowly human. How dare you grab my brother like that? You better learn your place! We should leave here now, brother. The actions Ichigo took have opened my eyes to the truth. I am ready now. Take me back to the Soul Society. It is time that I atone for my sins.

Ichigo: You can't leave here now. I mean, our work isn't finished. Rukia!

Rukia:Don't move! Take even one step, or try to come after me, and I'll-- I'll– I will never, ever, forgive you!

As Rukia uttered those words, tears came from her eyes. It was noticeable from the get go that she didn't mean anything she said, she just didn't want to see her two friends die.

Just then (Y/N) got up.

(Y/N): I'd rather not be forgiven than to watch you die.

(Y/N) was barely on his two feet. But he wasn't going down without a fight.

Renji: You should've stayed down. You're getting yourself killed for no reason-

Before Renji could finish his sentence, (Y/N) used Shunpo to close the distance between him and Renji before landing a brutal punch to the face.

(Y/N): You're next!

(Y/N) rushed towards Captain Kuchiki but stopped right as he got close. (Y/N) fainted before he could throw an attack.

Urahara was right. (Y/N) wasn't ready to take on the Captain. He was barely able to keep up with a Lieutenant. There wasn't a chance that he could've taken on a Captain. As (Y/N) lost consciousness, he felt anger in himself, not being able to save Rukia. He failed.

As Ichigo and (Y/N) laid lifeless, they were approached by Urahara.

Urahara: *signs* I hate to say I told you so.

I'm currently in the wrap phase of the Soul Society. I'm not sure how I'm gonna go about the Hueco Mundo arc quite yet. Eh, I'm sure I'll figure it out.
