(Meanwhile) During the battle against Gerard.

(Y/N) stared in disbelief as he came face to face with his grandfather.

(Y/N): *thinking* What the hell is he doing here? This doesn't make any sense...

Daichi looked at (Y/N) in confusion.

Daichi: Look like you've seen a ghost. Did you know me perhaps?

(Y/N): You probably don't know who I am because I'm so grown now, but it's me. (Y/N).

Daichi: (Y/N)? Sorry, but it doesn't ring a bell.

Now it was (Y/N)'s turn to be confused.

(Y/N): *thinking* He doesn't remember?

(Y/N) was now weary of Daichi. If he didn't remember his name then it was because either he wasn't truly Daichi or Yhwach did something to him.

(Y/N): (Y/N) (L/N)! You know... your grandson?

Daichi: Grandson? I don't recall even having a son.

Daichi felt a slight headache as he got a slight vision at the mention of a son he didn't remember having.

~~~~
Daichi saw a man holding a baby in his hand, he couldn't quite see the face of the man but he started to speak in an excited tone.
"I'm finally a father now, old man! Look at him! Isn't he the cutest?! The memories that came running through Daichi's head were painful and confusing. Anytime Daichi tried to remember more, it became more and more blurred.
Daichi: Look at me... letting my thoughts run rampant during an encounter with the enemy. That's unlike me.
(Y/N): But I'm not an enemy! I'm-
Daichi summoned his Heilig Bogen without hesitation.
Daichi: You're a shinigami... And judging by your Reiryoku there's more to you than that. A hollow perhaps? Either way, both are enemies in my eyes.
(Y/N) was shocked after hearing Daichi's response. But now he couldn't falter in front of the enemy. The man in front of him might be family, but he's also supposed to be dead.
(Y/N) took a deep breath before readying his weapon. (Y/N) decided to push everything he knew about his grandfather aside.
(Y/N): Then I'll have to release Yhwach's control over you. Even if it means you'll return to the afterlife again. That's all I can do for you in this situation... Don't hold it against me, grandpa!
https://youtu.be/qQ5TBh5Qkdk
(Y/N) eyes grew cold as he prepared to face off against Daichi.
Daichi wasted no time making the first move as he shot an arrow directly at (Y/N). (Y/N) dodged the arrow but the arrow redirected itself.
The arrow followed (Y/N) as he flew away from it. Daichi shot a few more arrows that followed (Y/N).
(Y/N) dived directly towards Daichi with the arrows following him. Daichi simply smirked.
Daichi: What a simple tactic.
(Y/N) got in front of Daichi before flash stepping behind him, leaving the arrows flying in his direction. The arrows stopped mid air, not making contact with the man.
Daichi predicted (Y/N)'s move and turned around, deactivating his Heilig Bogen and drawing a Seele Schneider to fight (Y/N) in close quarter's combat. Daichi lowered himself to dodge (Y/N) sword swing. (Y/N) turned his sword and took another swing at Daichi but the man activated his Seele Schneider behind his back to block the attack. Daichi then turned around and elbowed (Y/N) in the stomach.
(Y/N) grabbed Daichi's arm in retaliation and swung his sword and landed a clean hit on Daichi. Daichi was sent falling out of the sky before recovering and commanded the arrows that he stopped earlier to continue its chase.
(Y/N) casted Bakudō #81. Dankū to block some of the arrows as some of the arrows manoeuvred around the barrier. (Y/N) reacted to this by summoning Panzer to cover his back.
Daichi was surprised.
Daichi: Is that an arrancar? I didn't feel his spiritual pressure until now. Now why would an arrancar assist a Shinigami? What's your name, mysterious stranger?
Panzer simply stared at Daichi.
Daichi: Quite rude to not introduce yourself is it not?
(Y/N): Yhwach and his lackeys didn't fill you in? Quite irresponsible on their part if they're allowing you to fight a Special War Threat all by yourself.
Daichi took another second to sense (Y/N)'s spiritual pressure before smirking.
Daichi: I see. That being is linked with you. I feel it's reiatsu latching onto your own. You summoned that arrancar. That makes me all the more curious about your true nature. Do you disguise yourself as a Shinigami? Oops. There I go, getting distracted in the middle of combat again.
(Y/N): That's a sign that you aren't taking me seriously...
(Y/N) then summoned Siegfried and Merlin to stand by Panzer's side.
(Y/N): ...I'll use that to my advantage, if you do mind.
(Y/N): Merlin... prove you're the superior marksman. Panzer, keep me protected. Siegfried, back me up.
Daichi watched the one on one fight turn into a four on one. Daichi wasn't scared in the slightest. Daichi seized up the 3 hollows.
Daichi: One Gillian and two Adjuchas level arrancars. Nothing for me to worry about. Though the boy is still a formidable foe so maybe they'll give him the edge he needs. I'll tread lightly.
Daichi took four containers out of his coat as (Y/N), Siegfried, and Panzer rushed towards him.
Daichi threw the three containers at Panzer.
Daichi: "Renze Forumeru Venti Gral!" Heizen!
The moment the containers made contact with Panzer, the containers opened up, revealing a liquid of some kind. All of a sudden, a rectangular beam of energy tore through half of Panzer's body.
Daichi didn't let up his assault as he seamlessly transitioned into his second attack.
Daichi loaded his Heilig Bogen with the Seele Schneider that he was previously using and shot it at Siegfried.
Daichi: Geldschrank!
Instead of piercing Siegfried, the Seele Schneider's blade of reishi transformed into a high density reishi barrier that trapped the arrancar inside.
(Y/N) stopped his advancement as he saw two of his arrancars get detained in a matter of a second. He casted his spells almost instantly.
No. It was wrong to say he detained them both. He captured Seigfried. But Panzer on the other hand...
.
.
.
Panzer actually got killed by that spell. Siegfried was next on that list. The barrier that had Siegfried captured was slowly cutting into him due to the nature of the ability coming from a Seele Schneider.
If (Y/N) wasn't careful, Siegfried could die just the same.
Daichi: I must say, using Ginto somehow has a nostalgic feeling to it. Maybe prior to my death I went quite a while without using it. I do wonder how long that may have been.
Daichi then looked at (Y/N).
Daichi: What will you do now? The fight is almost back to a fair duel. Anymore tricks up your sleeves?
(Y/N): I'd hardly call that a "trick". Just simple battle formation and knowledge but now I have an idea of how you battle. It's a shame it took one of my allies' deaths to get a grasp on it.
Daichi: I've hardly begun to pull out tricks of my own. But by all means, show me what you've learned, "Grandson".
Daichi called (Y/N) by that name in sarcasm before taking another container of Ginto and throwing it at the cage that held Siegfried in. The Ginto made contact with the barrier and caused a massive explosion of blue flames. Thankfully (Y/N) recalled Siegfried in time to prevent him from being massively damaged or even killed.
Daichi then took out another Seele Schneider and dropped it over the city he was currently hovering. Tenjiro's Kiriden to be specific.
Daichi: *thinking* That's one...
Daichi then aimed his Heilig Bogen again but (Y/N) closed the distance between them before grabbing onto the bow.
(Y/N): I'll be taking this.
(Y/N) then began to disrupt the energy from the bow by absorbing the reishi from it. This caught Daichi off guard as he witnessed his bow disappear. (Y/N) then drew his zanpakuto in scythe form and began to slash at Daichi. Daichi was forced on the defensive, using Blut Vene to stop the scythe from cutting into his skin.
Daichi then found a slight opening which allowed him to grab (Y/N)'s zanpakuto. Little did Daichi know, this was a part of (Y/N)'s plan. The moment Daichi tried to punch (Y/N), the shinigami decided to turn the fight into his favor.
(Y/N): *thinking* Luppi, Hierro Virgen!
Luppi's tentacles wrapped around (Y/N)'s abdomen before growing spikes on the ends. This caused the spikes from tentacles to pierce through Daichi's hand despite the Blut Vene.
(Y/N) switched his zanpakuto into its sword form and landed another clean hit into Daichi, sending him flying into one of the Royal Guard's cities. Daichi took out another Ginto container and casted another spell.
Daichi: "Ihn schenkt Zweigen!" Wolke!
The reiryoku inside of the Ginto cushioned the impact he felt hitting the ground. Daichi took this chance to take out another Seele Schneider and implant it into the ground in the city. This one in particular was Kirio's Gatonden.
Daichi: *thinking* That makes two...
(Y/N) continued his offense as Merlin released the cero that he has been charging since he was summoned and aimed it at Daichi.
Daichi responded by swiping his index finger through the air as a line of reishi was left behind.
Daichi: Licht Wind!
A barrage of arrows made contact with a cero shaped arrow and caused a volley of explosions that spread throughout the skies of the Royal Palace.
(Y/N) took note of Daichi's ability to shoot arrows even without a Heilig Bogen.
(End Song)
(Y/N): *thinking* So... even without a bow, he can still fight back. And those Ginto cases. He seems to keep a lot of them on him. I don't want to take any more chances against him.
Daichi on the other hand had similar thoughts.
Daichi: *thinking* He's more skilled than I gave him credit for. And with those beings at his side, he could easily overwhelm me. He no doubt has the ability to use Bankai. I would be careless to allow him to use something that would give him the edge in this battle.
(Y/N): *thinking* If there's one thing I'm glad about, it's the fact that he relies heavily on reishi to fight. Which means I can absorb them. Though that goes both ways. Dad did say that the (L/N)'s practically had unlimited reishi because of how skilled they are at absorbing it. That's most likely why he has so many Ginto containers. We're both going to be playing tug of war with reishi here in the Royal Palace but that's not an issue when there's so much of it.
Daichi: *thinking* He's no Quincy but he has the ability to absorb reishi like we can. I think between that and the Bankai, taking away his ability to use Bankai is much more important. But that still leaves those minions of his. I should try to take them out anytime they're on the field. Being outnumbered is disadvantageous against an opponent like him.
https://youtu.be/I3UqQexPms0
Daichi resummoned his Heilig Bogen and shot an arrow at Merlin. The shot came extremely quick. Merlin tried to move out the way but his hollow mask was destroyed in the process.
Daichi then threw another Ginto container at Merlin while he was still in pain.
Daichi: "Zielt Krieg von Kitz Hart Vierte!" Gritz!
Merlin was then trapped in a barrier of some kind. The barrier keeping Merlin captured fell out of the sky.
Daichi: It's just you and me, shinigami.
(Y/N): Don't count on that being the case for too long. Ginjo. Cien. Arise.
Ginjo and Cien both appeared out of thin air.
Ginjo charged Daichi while Cien proceeded to clone (Y/N).
Daichi: This may become a problem...
Daichi was now on the defensive as he fought against the Ginjo doppelganger. Meanwhile the clones of (Y/N) surrounded Daichi. Daichi activated his Blut Vene again and blocked Ginjo's zanpakuto with his finger.
However, (Y/N) came out of the horde of clones with his zanpakuto drawn ready to strike. Daichi didn't let (Y/N) get the jump on him as he used his other hand to create a mini Heilig Bogen with his free hand and shot (Y/N) directly in the head.
...
But the (Y/N) that Daichi shot was just a clone, as the real (Y/N) appeared behind Daichi. (Y/N) recalled Ginjo in order to get a clean hit on Daichi. (Y/N) didn't have his zanpakuto as he gave it to the clone that had just been killed by Daichi.
(Y/N) activated Shunko while getting help from two other clones. (Y/N) created a shadow puppet of a dog with two other clones mimicking the same action.
(Y/N): Shadow Puppet: Cerberus - Full Form!
Unlike (Y/N)'s first use of Cerebus during his fight with Azashiro, this version of Cerebus actually had three heads. Right before the shadow could make contact with Daichi, the Quincy muttered under his breath.
Daichi: Blut Vene Anhaben.
Daichi's Blut Vene extended out of his body and created a shield around him, preventing the three headed shadow hound from biting into him.
Daichi: *thinking* Now's a better time than any. He's far too versatile.
Meanwhile, (Y/N) was caught by surprise by the spell that Daichi used.
(Y/N): *thinking* That was Blut Vene... How'd he use it to create a barrier around him?
One of the clones of (Y/N) returned the zanpakuto to the original. (Y/N) then charged his spiritual pressure to its highest.
Daichi: Trying to take me out, huh? I guess it was the right choice for "His Majesty" to bestow one of those abilities to me.
Daichi took a deep breath before speaking.
(End Song)
Daichi: In exchange for my Vollstandig, I forbid you from using Bankai.
In that exact moment, (Y/N) felt his power decrease. (Y/N) was understandably confused. However in that exact moment, the power Daichi had gained from Vollstandig had also vanished.
Daichi looked at the confused Shinigami and explained the situation.
Daichi: What do you think of my shrift? A neat little trick, don't you think?
(Y/N): You waited until I was ready to reveal my Bankai, didn't you? How the hell did you do it? My bankai hasn't been stolen by any other Quincy. So how did you pull it off?
Daichi: Steal? My exact words were "forbid". You still have your Bankai, you're just unable to use it until I lift the covenant?
(Y/N): Covenant?
Daichi: Yes. My shrift is "C" the Covenant. After I analyze my opponent's spiritual pressure I can place a contract of sorts between me and my opponent. The promise I make has to be equal in exchange, however.
(Y/N) gritted his teeth in frustration. This is the second time someone prevented him from using his Bankai. But that's why (Y/N) decided to have a flexible set of skills. The situation got worse, however, as Daichi spoke again.
Daichi: I forbid either of us from absorbing reishi.
This threw (Y/N)'s entire plan out of the window. Did he know what he was thinking this whole time?
Daichi: No doubt summoning those arrancars took plenty of spiritual energy. You've been passively absorbing the reishi to make up for the cost it takes to keep those hollows around. So I'll take that advantage away from you.
(Y/N) listened to Daichi's explanation and let it settle in his mind for a bit. (Y/N)'s facial expression changed. Not to one of frustration or despair, but to one still filled with hope.
(Y/N): I'll play your game for now, gramps. But know this. I'm exceptional at finding loopholes in situations like these!
Daichi: Hm?
(Y/N) recalled Cien and Ginjo. The clones also disappeared as well.
(Y/N): Luppi! Unohana! At my side!
(Y/N) summoned the only two members of his army that had a will of their own.
Luppi: Alright, what crazy plan did you come up with now?
Unohana: I do have a sneaking suspicion on what you have planned.
(Y/N): You two can think independently of yourselves. So I need you two to fight without me giving orders. Grandpa has a grasp on how I strategize but so do I. However, you two think differently from me. He has to now battle three minds instead of one.
Unohana: So he's forced to adapt to three different strategies at once. He'd also have to analyze two extra spiritual pressures if he wants to use his Schrift on either of us.
(Y/N): Bingo! There's one last thing...
Unohana: I know... I'm aware.
(Y/N): In that case. Let's get started.
Unohana: Understood...
Unohana drew her zanpakuto and grabbed the blade, spreading blood on it.
Bankai. Minazuki.
https://youtu.be/rPowTOEP4h4
Daichi was surprised as he heard Unohana activate her Bankai.
Daichi: So that's the loophole he was referring to...
Daichi's covenant prevented (Y/N) from using his Bankai. But that covenant meant nothing to Unohana who wasn't a part of the covenant. She was free to use her own Bankai.
Daichi took a look around his surroundings. He was close to one of the other Royal Palace cities.
Daichi then made a run for it. (Y/N) didn't know what his grandfather was thinking but he didn't want to find out. (Y/N) chased after Daichi with Unohana and Luppi following close behind.
With a swing of her sword, Unohana managed to land an attack directly into Daichi's back. The attack sent Daichi crashing into Oetsu's Hooden. Despite being in danger, Daichi took the time to take out a third Seele Schneider that he implanted into the ground.
Daichi: *thinking* Three. Now how can I possibly plant two more in a situation like this?
Daichi watched as Unohana landed right in front of him and battled without hesitation.
Daichi had to admit that without Vollstandig, the fight was a lot tougher, but Daichi was still confident in his ability to win. However, Daichi was so focused on fighting Unohana, he was caught off guard by Luppi wrapping a tentacle around his leg and tossing him into the ground.
Daichi created a Heilig Pfeil and threw it with his arm directly at Luppi. Luppi didn't let himself get taken out so easily as the rest of Luppi's tentacles swung itself into Daichi's body and pushed him across the Hooden.
Daichi quickly brushed himself off and fired a Lict Wind at both Unohana and Luppi. Unohana with her superior swordsmanship and powerful Bankai, found a way to precisely cut through the arrows headed her way while Luppi tanked the attack with Hierro.
This gave Daichi time to run to the fourth castle, although the moment he flew out of the city, he was met with a Cero that was shot by none other than (Y/N). With his zanpakuto in hand, (Y/N) gave chase to Daichi. However, (Y/N) was still a bit cautious in approaching Daichi.
(Y/N): *thinking* He must know by now that these restrictions that he put on himself are disadvantageous to him. What's gramps thinking right now?
(Y/N) watched as Daichi moved into the city that held Senjumaru's Palace. The moment (Y/N) touched down on the city, the young shinigami summoned Baraggan.
(Y/N): Baraggan, rot this place away.
Baraggan immediately released Respira on the city as the buildings around them turned to ash. Soon enough, Daichi left his hiding place which prompted (Y/N) and Baraggan to redirect their attention onto him.
(Y/N) ran off again to follow Daichi as he finally landed in the city that held Ichibei's Palace, the Itanoma.
(Meanwhile) Calavera's POV
Calavera brushed herself off after crash landing from the Greater Palace due to Asterius and Gerard's battle. Calavera looked around for her friends and surely enough, they were all trying to shake off the daze they were in.
Calavera: I'm not sure if we screwed up or if we were just that outmatched...
Yoruichi: You held out better than I expected. Good job out there. Now it's time for us to start thinking of a counterattack.
Chad: But Ichigo and (Y/N) are still fighting, maybe they-
Yoruichi: We aren't there to bolster their strength. Even if they did beat Ishida and Daichi respectively, going up against Yhwach and the rest of his guards afterward is going to be nearly impossible.
Orihime: Daichi?
Yoruichi: Daichi (L/N). That's the name of (Y/N)'s opponent. To be specific, he's (Y/N)'s grandfather.
The last name took everyone by surprise.
Calavera: Now that you mention it... He kinda does look like the pictures that dad has of him at home. To be honest, I was too busy fighting for my life to think about it in detail...
Yoruichi: That's him no doubt. Seems he's joined Yhwach and that's a problem. If he's gotten power from Yhwach then he's going to be a problem for even (Y/N) to keep up with. I'd say he could give (Y/N) a run for his money in intelligence.
Ganju: So what do we do now?
Yoruichi: We call for help.
Yoruichi got up and took out a stake and planted it in the ground.
Yoruichi: There's no source of communication from our side but this ought to do it. I'm sure the others in Hueco Mundo will feel the stake on their side resonating with this one.
Ganju: The hell is that?
Yoruichi: Think of it as me calling for backup.
(Back to Y/N)
(Y/N) watched as Daichi slammed a Seele Schneider into the ground of the Itanoma.
Daichi: And that makes five.
(Y/N): What the hell are you planning? Running around like this?
Daichi: Observe.
*inhale*
Daichi: I revoke Covenant #2.
Daichi and (Y/N) were now allowed to absorb reishi again. At that moment, Baraggan, Unohana and Luppi surrounded Daichi and were about to attack all at once until.
Daichi: Your allies are no longer allowed on the battlefield in exchange for 90% of my combat strength.
At that moment, Baraggan, Unohana and Luppi vanished out of thin air. (Y/N) looked on in bewilderment as his army was forcefully removed from the battle.
Daichi then took flight as he flew towards the Greater Palace. (Y/N) immediately ran towards the Seele Schneider that Daichi left behind but the Quincy saw that action coming from a mile away.
Daichi: For your full attention, I must give you mine in exchange.
In that moment, (Y/N)'s body stopped reaching for the Seele Schneider and instead forcefully chased after Daichi. The moment Daichi got to the top of the Greater Palace, he continued his plan.
Daichi: I revoke Covenant #3.
Daichi however immediately followed up with-
Daichi: You are not allowed to move. In exchange I'm not allowed to attack you.
As promised, (Y/N) was unable to move.
(Y/N): This must be some elaborate plan if you're going through all this hassle.
Daichi: Honestly, against anyone else, this would've been a lot simpler. You just so happened to be a cunning opponent. Now then...
Daichi left (Y/N) at the greater palace as he returned to the Itanoma. Daichi took one last Ginto container out of his pocket before speaking.
Daichi: I revoke Covenant #3.
Daichi dropped the liquid reishi inside the Ginto container onto the Seele Schneider as it ignited the 5 Seele Schneiders that Daichi placed throughout the five castles in the Royal Palace. All the energy collected by the Seele Schneider traveled to the very center of the Greater Palace where (Y/N) was trapped.
Daichi casted Sprenger, causing a massive explosion that could be seen throughout the entirety of the Royal Palace.
(End Song)
Daichi: I planned it all. I intentionally put myself at a disadvantage so that you would fall into a false sense of security. Your idea to use a Shinigami Captain's Bankai to bypass your own Bankai restriction was smart, but it also played wonderfully in my plan. It's true that I gave you the advantage, but that's because I needed you to act hastily so that you wouldn't recognize my plan to take you out.
Daichi watched (Y/N)'s body burn nearly to a crisp.
Daichi: Thanks to the nature of Sprenger, I actually bypass the restrictions placed on me by Covenant #2. Sprenger uses the energy absorbed by the Seele Schneider and not by myself. A place such as the Royal Palace is plentiful in reishi so it's much more deadly than it would be normally. You were an interesting fellow, (Y/N). Unfortunately for you, I won the battle of wits. Be proud that you lasted this long.
Daichi watched as (Y/N)'s body started to fall from the Royal Palace after taking the full force of Sprenger.
.
.
.
"I feel my consciousness fading..."
"I can't... Not yet..."
"I was so close... to winning..."
"If I lose here... What's going to happen to everyone?"
"Even with all the strength that I gained here in the Royal Palace... I couldn't win. What kind of shinigami am I?"
.
.
.
"Maybe I shouldn't fight him as a shinigami... After all, the ones that the Quincies fear the most are Hollows, right?
"So why don't I just fight him as a Hollow?"
.
.
.
Daichi pulled his Seele Schneider out of the ground as he prepared to return to the group of Schutstaffel.
Daichi: Perhaps I should refill my Ginto containers while I'm at it. The Royal Palace is rich in reishi so I should be able to collect tons of it.
At that moment, Daichi felt a heavy spiritual pressure. It was Hollow Reiryoku, no doubt.
Daichi looked towards the Greater Palace as he saw a figure making its way to his location.
Daichi: A shinigami that can also become an arrancar... I must say I wasn't expecting the power of a Hollow to run so deep to your core, (Y/N). You've even undergone a resurreccion.
(Y/N): I guess you can say I evolved past resurreccion. What you're looking at now is Resurreccion: Segunda Etapa.
To be continued.
We finally got the Segunda Etapa reveal. There's a lot to ramble about this chapter so bare with me.
I'll get Segunda Etapa out of the way first since it's probably going to be the thing I talk about the most.
I tried my best to find something that match what I think would fit (Y/N) the most but to be honest I don't think it quite hit the mark but it was as close as I could get. This is also why I urge you guys to alter the designs as you see fit for your self insert. I was going for something more tame than the original resurreccion because I feel like it would fit in with Thanatos subtle progression in becoming more tame as the story progressed. Now Thanatos is still the "Kill anything that's a threat" personality but he at least takes the time to differentiate who's an enemy and who actually has (Y/N)'s best interest in mind. That's why I think a more regal but power look was the go to for Segunda Etapa.
Now, how did (Y/N) achieve Segunda Etapa? Well... Two major factors. Now before I explain, I have to mention this. We have almost no information on how someone gains Segunda Etapa from Kubo except a question from his Klub Outside Q&A where someone asked "If Grimmjow trains, could he eventually unlock Segunda Etapa". The only thing Kubo said was "Yes". That's it. The only thing real answer we have from Kubo is that you can train to gain Segunda Etapa.
Now, (Y/N) has done plenty of training throughout the story and during the 2 year timeskip between the Arrrancar arc and the Fullbring Arc, he trained with Wiz during that time specifically in using his Hollow abilities. But I didn't feel right just giving it to (Y/N) just like that. I needed something to trigger that moment, which is why I tried to weasel a bit more of a headcanon in there to at least make it feel less like an asspull.
Now during (Y/N)'s time in limbo after almost dying to Yhwach during the first invasion, (M/N) told (Y/N) how she "felt the need to evolved past an arrancar in order to win" against Vasto Lorde Szayelaporro. Segunda Etapa is just a second stage resurreccion. So with my headcanon, if you've trained to master every ability that a Hollow is born with (Hierro, Sonido, etc) and then push pass your limits (the means at which this happens depends entirely on the situation at hand) you can possibly unlock Segunda Etapa.
But that's just the route I'm going for in this story. We have literally no idea how Ulquiorra gets Segunda Etapa in canon outside of "maybe he just trained really hard".
But enough about Segunda Etapa. Let's talk about Daichi, because hoo boy, there's a lot to talk about.
Now as you can probably tell, Daichi fights alot like Uryu in the fact that he fights in what the Sternritters would call the "traditional" way. Remember that things such as the Letz Stil are considered outdated. Even Heilig Bogen aren't limited to bows. They now have swords, crossbows, guns, etc.
So when I created Daichi I wanted him to use specifically old traditional Quincy abilites. That's why Daichi used alot of items like the Ginto and Seele Schneider. Even his Heilig Bogen is just a plain bow.
I also thought that Daichi using these items would fit well because his whole shtick is that he's really good at absorbing reishi. He doesn't have to worry about running out Ginto if he can just refill it in seconds. There's no explanation on how Quincies liquefy reishi to be put in Ginto containers so I just assume they have some weird passive ability that lets them do it at will.
This is also a good time to talk about Daichi's schrift. Now thanks to Uryu, we know that two people can share the same letter for a shrift, considering both he and Yhwach share the letter "A" despite it being two different abilities. Now we can chalk this up to Uryu being a special case but at the same time, there's nothing stopping us for saying it's not possible for anyone else to share the same letter for a schrift.
Now obviously this means Daichi shares the same letter as Pernida. I wanted Daichi to share the same letter as Haschwalth so that he could mirror Uryu in a way but I couldn't find an ability that started with the letter B that would fit Daichi in the same this one does. But I think Daichi sharing a schrift with the literal left hand of the Soul King is just as good IMO.
Obviously by reading the chapter Daichi's schrift is the "Covenant". Yes make your LTG jokes. I knew what I was getting myself into when I decided this would be the name of the schrift. But I figured it felt really fitting considering in normal everyday life, a covenant is just a formal agreement/lease/deed/legal contract between two people or groups. However, spiritually, a covenant is an agreement between God and his people. It works well when you realize Yhwach in the story practically becomes a god by absorbing the Soul King but also being based on real world Judaism.
With that out of the way let's talk a little bit about the fight because this Author notes is getting a bit too long.
I made it a point to fit just about every summon (Y/N) had available to him in this fight. The only one I couldn't find room for was Rukia. Also considering the stakes were high, there was bound to be a lost among them. Unfortunately it was one of the original trio in Panzer. R.I.P buddy.
Speaking of the original three, I never brought this up but I always envisioned (Y/N) trained Siegfried, Panzer and Merlin to fight similar to Ichigo, Chad and Uryu respectively. Those are his close friends and they the trio of arrancars share similar weaponry to them so I always thought that they were as strong as they were because (Y/N) based them off of his friends who he has high expections of. Also, I had this name for the trio called "Death comes in threes" after the idiom by the same name. Nobody has a definitive definition on what the idiom means but it fit none the less.
Back to the battle at hand, I always felt like (Y/N) would pull out all the stops in a situation where his back was against the wall, which is why he constantly cycled through all of his strongest summons. He even went through the trouble of using Unohana's Bankai when he couldn't use his own. But because Daichi had just as much versatility as (Y/N), he was able to keep up.
I think that's all I have to comment on for now. If I forgot anything, I'll make sure to include it in the next part. Until then.
