(Y/N) woke up to the sound of his alarm, feeling groggy. After the previous day, it could've been way worse though. (Y/N) just sat in bed recalling the events that happened the night before. The Hollow, meeting a weird shopkeeper who could also see spirits, and becoming a shinigami. (Y/N) was tempted to tell himself that it was all a dream, however his body said otherwise.

After a few minutes procrastinating, (Y/N) got up and dragged himself to his bathroom to take a shower. Nothing felt real to (Y/N). (Y/N) let his mind wander again, think back to the events that took place after his conversation with Urahara.

(Flashback)

(Y/N): I'm so dead...

Urahara: What do you mean?

Urahara didn't seem too concerned but decided to question the young man regardless.

(Y/N): I haven't contacted my family since I left the house and now I'm extremely late. Not only that, but if I come home looking like this, they'll have a heart attack.

Urahara gave a chuckle before reassuring (Y/N)

Urahara: Don't worry about that my dear protege, we can handle that issue no problem.

(Y/N) *questioning look* What do you mean by that?

Urahara: Well...

(Timeskip within a Flashback)

As (Y/N) walked towards the entrances to his home, he felt himself sweating bullets. He made his way in front of the door and gently and slowly turned the knob. As he took a peek through the door he saw his Father, (F/N) (L/N) snoring on the couch.

(Y/N) wiped the sweat off of his forehead. Knowing that he at least dodge a bullet of not waking up his father from his hibernation. (Y/N) then snuck his way through the living room and upstairs to his room.

(Y/N): So if what Mr. Urahara said was correct, (S/N) won't remember me leaving the house and Dad won't know I ever went missing in the first place. I hope he's right... I still have to bring up the fact that I don't have a phone anymore... Heh I'll worry about it later.

(Y/N) still thought Urahara was weird. He found it equally as weird that he has a contraption that alters memories of normal civilians. It was convenient. Too convenient...

The only thing (Y/n) can do now is wait until the morning and see if the results was true.

(Back to present day)

(Y/N) got out of the shower and threw on his school uniform. (Y/N) usually walks to school with Ichigo, so (Y/N) made his way to Ichigo's house. He would usually call but... you know, no cellphone.

(Y/N) walked down the stairs and was met face to face with his father and sister. The moment of truth. If they didn't make a comment about his rather late appearance then he was in the clear.

"Alright... moment of truth..."

(Y/N): Morning guys

(S/N): Morning (Y/N)! How'd you sleep last night!

(F/N): Well I hope?

'EVERYTHING IS NORMAL!?'

(Y/N): J-Just a bit tired, but otherwise, I'm good...

(Y/N) took a quick glance at his father. (F/N) was a police officer. A police detective to be specific. Because of his job he usually gets home late or works odd hours. (Y/N) and (S/N) understand that (F/N) does it to support the family. He started talking a lot more hours at work after (M/N) died.

(Y/N): So how was work dad?

(F/N): Well... it started of as normal but we eventually started getting calls of explosions around the town-

Hearing this made (Y/N) turn pale. Sure, he came to terms with the events that happened the day before but hearing be confirmed by someone else was surreal.

(Y/N): Explosions? You mean like a terrorist attack?

(F/N): Nah, if that was the case it would've been a way bigger deal. Seems like it may have been a gas leak.

So that's what the normal person thought happened? Sure if it happened in one area, he can understand, but he got chased around town for about 2 and half hours. There's no way a gas leak appeared around half of the town.

Could Urahara have somehow influenced the general public too or did the citizens just go along with whatever the police said? Not to mention that there was no mention of casualties either. Whatever the case may be, everyone just saw it as an accident.

(Y/N): W-well hopefully we don't have another one of those again. Oh yea, sorry to bring this up at short notice but I actually don't have my cell phone anymore.

(F/N): Really? What happened to it?

(Y/N) didn't have to give a convoluted lie to explain why he didn't have his phone anymore.

(Y/N): Oh I took a fall yesterday while I was at school and it broke, unfortunately.

(F/N): Huh, well I can give you some money to get a new one.

(Y/N): Oh you don't have to do that, I've had some money saved up for the next pair of sneakers I wanted. I can just use that to buy another phone.

(F/N): You sure? I don't mind at all. Your grades are still one of the best in class yeah? Think of it as a little reward.

(F/N) got up from the table and reached for his wallet but quickly left the house.

(Y/N): You can't hand me money if I'm not here to accept it.

(S/N): HEY WAIT! YOU HAVEN'T ATE BREAKFAST YET!

(F/N) gave a slight chuckle before taking a huge sum of money and slipping it under (Y/N)'s room door. The older man then walked towards his daughter and handed her some money as well

(F/N): Don't think I forgot about you. Make sure your brother doesn't get himself in more trouble. I'm gonna get some more rest before my next shift, you good with walking to school by yourself.

(S/N): Of course! I'm a big girl, walking to school isn't difficult!

(F/N): *chuckles* sure alright... Take care of yourself!

(S/N): Thanks! I'm off!

(S/N) left just as quickly as her brother.

(Timeskip)

(Y/N) made his way to Ichigo's house. Despite the amount of hits he took, he felt fine outside of exhaustion. After the talk with Urahara, the shopkeeper had one of his employees heal all of the injuries he took while in his original body. What did Urahara say his name was? Tessai? (Y/N) couldn't quite recall but made it a point to ask the man to teach him that technique.

As he got in view of Ichigo's house, (Y/N) contemplated telling Ichigo his experience with the Hollow and his new ability. If anyone would believe his ridiculous story, it would be his best friend.

(Y/N): ...What in the world...

(Y/N) comes into view of Ichigo's house and sees an enormous hole in the centre. Ichigo, alongside his family, were standing outside of the house looking at the aforementioned hole.

Ichigo took note of his (H/C) friend approaching him with a confused look on his face.

(Y/N): What happened to your house?

Ichigo: ... A truck ran into it last night

(Y/N): Seriously? I would ask if you guys are okay but it seems you guys are just as confused as me with the expression you all are displaying.

Ichigo: Y-Yeah...

(Y/N): Though the situation is pretty serious, are you gonna be skipping school? No one would blame you, I'd probably do it if i was in your shoes.

Ichigo: Nah, I'll go. Go on without me,I'll help with some repairs before I come to school.

(Y/N): Well if you're sure...

"Was it really a truck accident? It could've been another Hollow attack. Ichigo can see spirits just like I can so I doubt he didn't see it. Uhhh.. too much speculation, I'll just take his word for it. If anything suspicious continues to happen then I'll ask him about it."

(Timeskip)

As he arrived at school, (Y/N) quickly started hearing whispers and murmurs. Something about a new student? To be honest, (Y/N) just wanted to get to his desk and sleep. (Y/N) let out a yawn as he turned down a hallway with his eyes half closed. Just then he bumped into a girl he's never seen before. (Y/N) came face to face with a short girl with black shoulder length hair and purple eyes.

(Y/N): Oh sorry about that, I wasn't watching where I was going.

???: Not a problem. Say, can you help me with something?

(Y/N): Sure what do you need?

???: I got lost looking for the faculty office, can you perhaps help me find it?

(Y/N): Oh sure.

(Timeskip)

Lunch time rolled around, and (Y/N) noticed that Ichigo still hadn't made it to school yet. Maybe he changed his mind after all. (Y/N) was taken out of his thoughts after he heard a few of his friends talking.

Tatsuki:Orihime! Did you bring lunch today?

He heard his friend Tatsuki ask. Tatsuki Arisawa is a tomboy with a very lean frame and short dark hair. She's very laid back and level headed most of the time, unless she is provoked by somebody. You knew her just as long as Ichigo, considering you all were a part of the same karate class when you were younger.

Orihime: Mm-hm!Leftover taiyaki-style ramen with wasabi and honey. Would you like some, Tatsuki?

Orihime was an average height girl with long, waist-length, burnt orange hair. If there's anyone who can rival (Y/N) in the friendliness competition, it's Orihime. She pretty much can do no wrong in anyone's eyes. (Y/N) and Ichigo first met her through Tatsuki during childhood. (Y/N) was pretty confident she had a crush on Ichigo.

Tatsuki: That's okay.

Orihime: But it's really good!

You looked slightly across from your 2 friends and saw the new transfer student, Rukia Kuchiki. You were able to get her name after helping find the faculty office. Apparently her family had a "situation" that required them to suddenly move.

"Maybe her family was affected by the hollow attack? Nah there's no way. She couldn't have made a move and transferred schools overnight like that. Those things take time. Guess it's none of my business."

Just then you heard the classroom door open. You turned to the door and saw Ichigo standing there, casually walking in like he isn't multiple periods late to class.

(Y/N): There you are, and here I was thinking you changed your mind about coming to school.

Tatsuki and Orihime heard (Y/N)'s comment and turned their attention to Ichigo.

Tatsuki: You actually came to school? Why are you so late? I mean, it's time for lunch already.

Ichigo: Yeah, don't worry about it. I'll tell you later.

Just then another student entered the conversation, one who you were also familiar with.

Mizuiro: Oh hey there Ichigo! DIdn't think you'd be here after that truck accident! Did you stay behind to help with repairs?

Mizuiro was another friend of (Y/N) and Ichigo's. He had short black hair and green eyes. And was known among Ichigo and (Y/N) as a "lady's man" which he always dismisses.

Ichigo: Yea pretty much...

Tatsuki: Huh? Truck accident?

Orihime: What happened?

Ichigo: Yeah. Some drunk guy crashed into the side of my house. But enough about that what class do we have next

Orihime: Social studies!

Suddenly Rukia shifted her attention towards Ichigo, introducing herself.

Rukia: Hello. You're Ichigo, aren't you?

Ichigo: Wha?

Rukia: I'll be sitting next to you from now on. My name is Rukia.

Ichigo: Ah! It's-- it's you!

Ichigo's comment made (Y/N) raise an eyebrow. Rukia's introduction seemed normal but Ichigo's response gave off the impression that they've met before.

(Y/N): You two know each-other?

Rukia: Course not! We've never met before! Isn't that right, Ichigo?

Mizuiro: Rukia's a brand new transfer student.

Rukia: Nice to meet you! It's a pleasure!

(Timeskip)

After school ended, (Y/N) headed directly to Urahara's shop. (Y/N) told his friends that he had errands to run so he had to skip going home with them. (Y/N) walked into Urahara Shop cautiously.

(Y/N): Is anyone there?

Urahara: Well look who it is! Didn't expect you to arrive so early! You must really be eager to begin training!

(Y/N): Eager might not be the right word... I'm more nervous than anything.

Urahara: Oh don't worry, you'll be fine! Before we start, I have to introduce you to the others! They'll be crucial to your development as a Shinigami.

The others? Oh the employees at the store. They must also be Shinigamis, or at the very least, be able to see spirits.

Urahara started gathering up the few members of the shop, placing them side by side.

Urahara: Alright everyone's here! Alright folks, this here is (Y/N) (L/N) and he'll be our part timer starting today.

"Part timer? I didn't sign up to work here! *sign* No no, he's teaching me how to be a shinigami, the most I could do is help him out. He could've at least told me ahead of time though."

Urahara then turns to (Y/N) as he starts introducing the various individuals. He first points to who you recognize as the man who healed you after the Hollow attack. He was tall, muscular and lightly tan. His hair was cornrowed and he had a large handlebar moustache, which was connected to his long sideburns.

Urahara: You should be acquainted with him already, but allow me to formally introduce you to Tessai Tsukabishi.

Tessai: It's a pleasure to me you Young (L/N), we're glad to have you aboard!

Tessai gave (Y/N) a firm handshake. (Y/N) can tell that Tessai was someone that he'd have to rely on a lot during his time here.

Urahara then gestures to the other two characters in the room. (Y/N) noticed that they were a lot younger (at least that's what their appearance gave off) than he was.

Urahara: And these two are Ururu Tsumugiya and Jinta Hanakari! Don't let the size of these two fool you, they're great at what they do!

(Y/N) looked towards the two younger members. The one known as Ururu had black hair in pigtails and wore a knee-length, pink skirt and a white tee shirt. Her demeanour was that of a shy person. (Y/N) made it a note to do his best not to overwhelm her with questions if he had any, just as a way to not make her uncomfortable. Standing beside Ururu was Jinta with red hair who wore blue trousers and a white tee similar to Ururu. He didn't seem to care that (Y/N) was there. Quite frankly, he looked almost like he didn't want to be at this meeting. (Y/N) hoped that the boy would slowly warm up to him in time, just to prevent any issues during work.

Ururu: U-Um i-it's nice to meet you M-mr. (L/N).

(Y/N): You don't have to call me by my last name, I'm not that old. Just call me (Y/N)

Ururu: O-Okay...

Jinta didn't seem to care about introductions as he just mumbles under his voice and walks off.

Urahara: Ahhh don't worry about him, he's just a bit cranky, he'll come around eventually.

(Y/N): I hope so...

Urahara: Well anyways, last but not least, meet Yoruichi!

(Y/N) looked around but didn't see anyone-

"Over here"

(Y/N): ???

(Y/N) turned his head to the direction of the voice and saw... a cat?

(Y/N): Okay, I know spirits and these "hollows" exist so this shouldn't surprise me, but now I feel crazy.

Urahara: Haha, don't worry you'll get used to Yoruichi quickly! After all, Yoruichi will be responsible for a lot of your training.

(Y/N): Wait, are you telling me the cat is a Shinigami?

Urahara nods his head in response before walking off.

Urahara: *in the distance* Now with introductions out of the way, let's get you to work! Before we do any training we gotta teach you how to run a shop!

Today is gonna be a long day for (Y/N)

(Timeskip)

If it was one thing (Y/N) forgot to do, it was to call his family and let them know he was working. (Y/N) spent about 3 hours trying to cram all he could about the Urahara shop. He wasn't sure how the place was still in business because most of their inventory was unconventional items. Fortunately Urahara gave (Y/N) a brand new phone. "It's for work purposes," he said. (Y/N) took that as "I'm giving you a phone so that I can call you when it's time to work!"

(Y/N) checked his watch for the time and thankfully he wasn't late arriving home this time. As (Y/N) walked through the door he was met with an excited voice bursting through the house.

(S/N): Yo (Y/N), where ya been?

(Y/N): Huh? Oh well I kinda got a part time job.

(S/N): Really, that's pretty big, when did you have time to do that?

(Y/N): I kinda just did it... "spur of the moment" kinda thing, you know?

(S/N): Yea... wait... but if you have a part time job, how am I gonna eat dinner?

(Y/N): Maybe learn how to cook? I'm sure you have friends who can teach you? You could ask Yuzu for help, she's a good cook.

(S/N): Freeload dinner from the Kurosaki's? That's a brilliant idea! Why didn't I think of that?

(Y/N): DON'T FREELOAD, LEARN! *sign* Anyway, I got a new phone, so I'll let you know when I clock into my part time job and when I get off.

(S/N): Great! Now I know when I can stay at home or freeload dinner.

(Y/N) knew he couldn't win this argument.

(Timeskip to the next day)

There wasn't any school, however, (Y/N) still woke up early to head to Urahara Shop. (Y/N) spent his first day actually running the shop so this time around, he would actually be doing training. (Y/N) felt a lot of different emotions, but could you blame him? He's basically training to be a superhero.

As (Y/N) made his way into the shop he was greeted with a warm welcome from Tessai, who led him into an UNDERGROUND TRAINING GROUND. (Y/N) couldn't fathom how they managed to fit what would seem like a colosseum under the store.

Urahara: (Y/N) glad you could make it! Once again you're early!

(Y/N): Well I'm planning to take this Shinigami business pretty seriously!

Urahara: Glad to hear it! So first order of business-

Urahara, without warning, hits (Y/N) in the forehead with the tip of his cane, forcefully splitting (Y/N)'s soul from his body. Thankfully Tessai was there to catch (Y/N)'s limp body before it could hit the floor.

Urahara: There we go! Now you're ready to train!

(Y/N) looked down to see that he was wearing the same Black Kimono that he wore during his first battle.

Urahara: Now here's the plan, Tessai here will be teaching you the basics of Kido. Ururu, Jinta will be training you in physical strength. Yoruichi will teach you all the other skills that Shinigami use in a fight: Zanjutsu, Hakuda, and Hoho. I will be teaching you strategy and will assist the others in any way I can.

Outside of physical training and strategy, (Y/N) was confused about what any of the other words meant. But Urahara was quick to remedy the issue.

Urahara: I'll give you the rundown. Zanjutsu is the Shinigami's sword fighting techniques, Hakuda are the unarmed fighting techniques, Hoho are high speed movement techniques, and Kido are essentially magic spells.

(Y/N): Shinigamis can do all of that?

Urahara: Sure can! Now then, we have an entire day on our hands. We'll spend half of it training and once we've done that we'll have you take what you learn on a test run.

(Y/N): a test run?

Urahara: We'll be going against a Hollow!

(Y/N)'s eyes widened at the statement. This was only his second time using his Shinigami powers and he's already going against a Hollow? Sure he was able to kill his first Hollow in one hit, but what if that was just blind luck?

(Y/N): Are you sure I'm ready for that?

Urahara: You've already proven you can handle yourself against a measly hollow. Come on, have some confidence in yourself!

Urahara wholeheartedly said while slapping (Y/N) on the back. After taking a long exhale, (Y/N) face turned into a determined one.

(Y/N): Alright, let's do this!

Urahara: Great! We'll start with physical training! I hope you're ready! This is gonna hurt like hell!

...What?

To be continued.

This is more so a build up chapter. I promise the next chapter is where things escalate. I may or may not drop another chapter today. If not today, then tomorrow for sure.
