During Day 3 of (Y/N)'s adventure around the Soul Society, he ran into Chad, who recently just came back from visiting Yuichi, the soul that possessed his parakeet, in the Rukongai. Both (Y/N) and Chad decided to journey the Seireitei before they ran into someone who Chad seemed to be familiar with.

???: Oh you're the Ryoka I fought a few days ago. It's good to meet again under better circumstances.

Chad: I agree.

(Y/N) took a look at the man and recognized him as Captain Kyoraku. So Chad ran into him during the rescue mission.

Kyoraku: Ah, and you must (Y/N) correct?

(Y/N) Yes sir, that's me.

Kyoraku: What brings you two around this area?

(Y/N): Just sightseeing. The Seireitei is extremely big. I'm not sure I'll see all of it before we leave.

Chad: *nods*

Kyoraku: Is that so? Well, why not take a break. All that walking must be tiring. I've got some tea and steam buns to share. I can even tell you two interesting stories about the place while you rest.

(Y/N): I'm not one to turn down good hospitality. What about you Chad?

Chad: No issues here. We'll take you up on your offer.

Kyoraku: Great. Follow me.

The two boys followed the captain to the nearby barracks of the 8th Division.

(Timeskip)

Chad and (Y/N) listened intently to stories of the past told by Kyoraku while sitting outside of the barracks. He even told them about his friendship with Captain Ukitake, with the both of them being some of the oldest captains of the Court Guard Squad, second only to the Head Captain himself and Captain Unohana. (Y/N) made a mental note to stop by Captain Ukitake's barracks before he left. Meeting Ukitake while being able to catch up with Rukia, Kiyone and Sentaro would kill two birds with one stone.

After an hour of storytelling, Kyoraku decided to lay down on the floor, covering his head with his straw hat.

Kyoraku: Well, that's it for me for the day. I wouldn't want to take up all your time with boring stories of the past. You still got more of the Seireitei to explore, yeah?

(Y/N): Yep, I have plenty of ground to cover.

Kyoraku: Well good luck with that. You two can visit whenever. As for me, I'll be taking a nap.

(Y/N): A nap sounds good right about now.

Chad: You've been busy these last 3 days haven't you?

(Y/N): Yea between healing the injured and fighting for my life in a sparring match, I could use a few extra hours of sleep.

Kyoraku: Then why not just sit down and take a nap? Nothing's stopping you.

(Y/N): Well if you say so? What about you Chad?

Chad: I'm not really tired. I think I'll meet up with the others.

(Y/N): Sure thing. I'll see you later.

With that Chad took his leave and left the 8th Division barracks, leaving just Kyoraku and (Y/N) on opposite ends of the barrack walls to take a nap.

(Meanwhile) Soi-Fon POV

Soi-Fon was finishing up training with the stealth force. Ever since the invasion, Soi-Fon had a schedule of sorts. She spent the early mornings training by herself before moving on to training with the stealth squad. In the afternoon she went on patrols followed up by paperwork at night time.

And as of right now, Soi-Fon was moving onto her afternoon activities.

Soi-Fon: Training is over for the day. Tidy up the place while I'm gone. Omaeda, with me.

Omaeda: Yes Ma'am.

Omaeda scurried over towards his captain before heading out.

Soi-Fon's patrols were to scout out for any hollows trying to invade the outskirts of the Soul Society, while also looking out for anything suspicious. Nobody knew what Aizen's plans were so she wanted to be sure there weren't any sketchy operations, objects or persons in the area.

Soi-Fon: It's time to head out.

(Timeskip)

(Y/N) definitely wasn't expecting his nap to be as long as it was, lasting until the afternoon. (Y/N) looked around and realized that Kyoraku was gone. He probably had captain duties to tend to.

(Y/N) decided to leave the 8th Division barracks and continued his exploration, but the moment he left the barracks he ran into none other than Soi-Fon, returning from patrol.

(Y/N): Hey Soi-Fon! This is the third day in a row we've ran into each other.

Soi-Fon: I would say "it's a pleasant surprise" but I'd be lying.

(Y/N): Sheesh, prickly as usual.

Soi-Fon: And what exactly do you mean by "as usual"?

(Y/N): You always seem to be annoyed when you see me. It's not hard to see that. I just wish you'd lighten up a little bit.

Soi-Fon: Whatever, I'm too busy to be having this conversation.

(Y/N): You've said that every time we've run into each other. Which means you're either lying or you're not giving yourself any time to rest, which results in your grumpy mood.

Soi-Fon:*glare* What?

Omaeda decided to butt into the conversation

Omaeda: Hey listen kid, I know you're looking out and all, but don't make the Captain upset. She'll take it out on me.

Soi-Fon: What was that?

Omaeda: N-nothing!

(Y/N): See, grumpy! But worry not. I have an idea on how to relieve stress.

Soi-Fon: I don't have time for this.

(Y/N): You already don't have time to finish your work so why not take some time to relax?

Soi-Fon: You don't have any idea how much work I have.

(Y/N): I don't, but you're always in a rush to get something done. You have a squad for a reason. You're taking on too much by yourself.

Soi-Fon: I can handle it.

(Y/N): If you could, you wouldn't always be in a rush to get it done.

Soi-Fon: I-I...

Soi-Fon wanted to retaliate but she couldn't find a rebuttal.

(Y/N): I've been visiting a lot of the squad barracks these last few days and they've either had breaks like Captain Kyoraku here. *Gestures to the 8th Division Barracks*

Or they had plenty of assistance like Captain Unohana.

Soi-Fon: Fine. Since you know so much, what are you suggesting?

(Y/N): You just came from patrol right? Why not take more than just Omaeda with you? Take a few of your stealth force members with you and split up the investigation. You cover more ground in less time. You can also have stealth force members rotate every few hours while you get your other work done.

Soi-Fon: I still have to deal with the paperwork...

(Y/N): You have a lieutenant for a reason. Split it up. *signs* I know I'm stating the obvious with my advice. However, it seems like you're intentionally putting a lot of work on yourself for a reason.

Soi-Fon went quiet. (Y/N)'s observation was getting frighteningly accurate.

(Y/N): You're trying to prove to yourself that you have what it takes to take Yoruichi's place as Captain, aren't you.

...

...

...

(Y/N): I'll take the silence as a "yes".

At this point, Soi-Fon's scowl turned into a facial expression of uneasiness. (Y/N) didn't fail to notice her change in mood.

(Y/N): No need to beat yourself up over it. If you wanna surpass Yoruichi you gotta start living a healthier lifestyle. Look at it this way, the more help you have, the more efficient getting work done will be. And then it gives you more time to train and rest. Doesn't that sound like a better outcome?

Soi-Fon: I guess you're right...

(Y/N): See. How about this? Take tonight off and tomorrow you start making the chances I recommend. If they don't work out I promise I won't bug you again about your work methods.

Soi-Fon gave it some thought. It wouldn't hurt to try it out.

Soi-Fon: Fine. But if anything goes wrong, I'll kick your ass.

(Y/N): Geez, even when you're trying to be considerate you're still threatening. But I'll take what I can get.

Soi-Fon: So Mr. Know it all, what am I supposed to do now that I have the time off.

(Y/N): Huh? What do you do on your days off?

Soi-Fon: I don't do "days off".

(Y/N): Any hobbies?

Soi-Fon just nodded her head "no". (Y/N) wondered how Yoruichi got Soi-Fon out of her shell originally.

(Y/N): Alright, for the rest of the day, it's just you and me.

Soi-Fon: Huh?

(Y/N): We're going to do something fun to get your mind off of work. Just follow my lead.

(Y/N) grabbed Soi-Fon's hand and guided her away from the Squad 8 Barracks.

Soi-Fon: H-hey wait. Omaeda takes care of things while I'm gone.

Omaeda: huh... Yes Ma'am.

(Y/N): The day's almost up so a lot of stores may be closed but I think we can still find a few places that can provide some entertainment.

(Timeskip)

https://youtu.be/j9Sn1nFGQQ8

The night was going surprisingly smooth. (Y/N) found a theater and decided to take Soi-Fon there to watch a play. The Soul Society doesn't have modern movie theaters so this was the best he could've done. Thankfully Soi-Fon surprisingly enjoyed herself. (Y/N) swore she shed a single tear near the end of the play. (Y/N) wouldn't dare bring it up to change Soi-Fon's improving mood.

The next destination was to visit some food stands. (Y/N) and Soi-Fon only took samples for the sole reason that (Y/N) was improvising on the fly. He didn't know if the Soul Society used any kind of currency and he didn't want to ask out of potentially looking stupid. Luckily Soi-Fon didn't mind at all.

As (Y/N) and Soi-Fon were heading back to the Squad 2 barracks, they started a small conversation.

(Y/N): Soooooo... How was it?

Soi-Fon: I'll admit, I... enjoyed my time.

(Y/N): Then I guess my job was successful.

Soi-Fon stayed quiet for a while before speaking again.

Soi-Fon: Despite my attitude, you never seemed to get upset. Why is that?

(Y/N): It wouldn't be the first time I've had a friend that started off as unfriendly. Not everyone's a people's person. If you interact with someone long enough they'll eventually start to open up. I've always had a hunch to tell whether someone is being stubborn or if someone doesn't like me, although the second one is pretty rare.

Soi-Fon: I see. So you tend to befriend anyone, is that what you're getting at?

(Y/N): Yeah, there's no such thing as having too many friends in my book. And also I think everyone should have someone they can rely on during hard times.

Soi-Fon: Someone to rely on huh?

Soi-Fon knew she was a hard person to get along with. She always felt that anyone who got in her way was an enemy. If they were a distraction then they would be getting in the way of improvement. But maybe she was looking at things the wrong way.

(Y/N): It looks like we're here. It's getting late so I should be heading back to my room.

Soi-Fon: Well I guess I should be thanking you for today. I never would have guessed I would actually take time off to do something "fun".

(Y/N): There's always a first time for everything. Well I'll be seeing you later. Good night!

Soi-Fon: G-Good Night.

As (Y/N) walked off, he could hear the sound of bushes rustling and people whispering. (Y/n) was confused and decided to call out in the direction of the sound.

(Y/N): Who's there?

???1: We've been found out!

???2: H-Hey! Not so loud, we could've just played it off.

???3: Shut up you two!

???4: Hey guys...

???: We should find another hiding spot.

???3: You guys are going to ruin this for me! I need this as blackmail!

???4: Guys...

Everyone: WHAT?

(Y/N) was staring the four directly in their eyes. His four stalkers turned out to be his friends, Ichigo, Orihime, Uryu and Chad.

(Y/N): What are you guys doing?

Orihime: O-oh, fancy meeting you here (Y/N). What are you doing here so late at night?

(Y/N): Orihime, you guys are hiding in bushes. It's clear as day that you four were following me. I'm not mad or anything, I'm just confused as to the reason why.

Orihime: Well earlier today I came up with the idea that we should all get together to eat at the food stands today but none of us could have found you. But when we met up with Chad, he said he ran into you and you two met up with one of the captains and you stayed behind. When we all went back to the barracks we saw you talking to the mean Captain lady but we didn't want to butt in or anything so we kinda just stuck to the sidelines.

(Y/N): So basically, you've all been following me since this afternoon.

Orihime just sheepishly rubbed the back of her head.

(Y/N): I'm surprised you guys went along with this.

Uryu: I did my best to convince Orihime to leave you two alone but she wouldn't listen.

Chad: I was curious.

Ichigo: I just wanted blackmail.

(Y/N): Blackmail for what?

Ichigo: Don't worry about it*devious smile*

Orihime: Sorry, it was rude of us to spy on you during your date.

...

...

...

(Y/N): Date?

(Y/N) was ready to die in embarrassment. How was he so dense to not realize he essentially just took Soi-Fon on a date. For someone who prides himself in being intelligent, he felt extremely idiotic now that he had hindsight.

(Y/N): H-Hold on, I don't think we could call that a date. I hardly doubt Soi-Fon thought of it like that either.

Ichigo: Nah, it definitely was.

Uryu: As much as I lack the experience in this category, I think most people would consider that a date.

Chad: Agreed.

Ichigo: Wait until Yoruichi hears this.

(Y/N): You're having a grand time making fun of me aren't you?

Ichigo: I don't get chances like this often.

Safe to say, (Y/N) wouldn't be able to hear the end of this anytime soon.
