Calavera: With all due respect "Dad", But I don't think you'll be able to teach me how to use a katana. You don't even use a bladed weapon.

(F/N): Well geez, thanks for the uplift in confidence... I guess you can say I'm more of a "guide" than a teacher.

Calavera: What do you mean?

(F/N): I've seen and fought against (M/N) many times when I was still learning my abilities, and in that time I've learned what stances she took and how each of her hits feel like at full power... Or at least how much they could've hurt at her current power. Now I can't teach you the fundamentals, but that's what we got good ol' Urahara for! You can even ask (Y/N) for help if he's available. Once you learn that from him then I can test you and give you advice on how to fight just like (M/N).

Calavera: I hope you're right... You guys do nothing but sing good praises about (M/N) and how strong she was, so if I end up being bad at this, I'll blame you for it, alright!

(F/N): Yeah, I heard you. Now, let's start training.

Calavera charged towards the man and swung her katana but the man effortlessly blocked it. He then pushed Calavera back with great force.

Calavera: *thinking* Already regretting my decision!

Calavera saw the man start to approach her. Calavera got up and clashed blades with the man again.



???: I must say, I'm disappointed. What are you hesitating for?

Calavera blocked one of the man's strikes but got knocked down in the process.

???: Worry not, I'm not here to kill you.

The man walked up slowly, raising his sword. Calavera was panicking.

Calavera: *thinking* Get it together! Get over your fears already!

Calavera quickly but shakily raised her blade to block the incoming attack.

Calavera: *thinking* I can do this! I have to do this!

Calavera quickly created space between herself and the enemy.

Calavera: *thinking* If I don't, who knows who he'll come for next.

Calavera took deep breaths and calmed down a little bit.

Calavera: *thinking* Remember Calavera, there's one more fighter on my side...

The man saw Calavera's change in attitude.

???: It seems you've steeled your resolve.

Calavera didn't say anything as she swung her blade at a blinding speed. The man narrowly dodged it and tried to counterattack.

Calavera: *thinking* This is where I turn the fight in my favor.

Calavera's hand started to glow. As the stranger raised his sword for another swing, he was caught off guard and knocked away by a now gigantic stuffed rabbit.



Calavera: *thinking* I gotta thank (Y/N) for coming up with the idea of giving mini me a "battle mode".

Calavera then rushed in and swung her katana again, this time just barely cutting the man's cheek.

Calavera: I'm getting close to cutting him...

???: Are you sure that's not a fullbring you possess? It's quite a unique ability.

Calavera once again refused to respond.

???: Whatever the case may be, I'll take you a little more seriously now.

The stranger clashed blades with Calavera once again. Calavera could feel the difference in strength in his strikes now than she did before.



While they were clashing, Calavera's stuffed rabbit ran in to grab the strange man but the man simply delivered a kick that sent the stuffed toy flying.

That momentary distraction allowed Calavera to land 5 consecutive slashes on her enemy.



???: That was well done.

The man then tried to move but was stuck in the same position he was in.

???: What's this?

The man looked down and saw he was entangled by some sort of blue thread.

???: I see... That's how you're controlling that toy of yours. You're using spiritual energy like strings and you used them to restrain me. You're also puppeteering that monster while fighting me. That must take incredible skill.

Calavera: Don't call Calavera Jr. a monster...

On cue, the stuffed animal came in and landed another attack on the man.



Calavera fell to her knees as she felt a weight off of her shoulders.

Calavera: What a weirdo... I gotta make sure (S/N) is-

Calavera was cut off as she felt a presence behind her yet again.

???: You let your guard down.

The man went for a sword swing while Calavera had her back turned. However in just the nick of time-

Bakudō #61. Rikujōkōrō

Hadō #63. Raikōhō

A double kido incantation could be heard as the man in question was restrained and immediately hit with a thunderstrike. Calavera watched as (Y/N) landed next to her, Shikai activated and a hollow mask on his face.

(Y/N): Are you hurt?

Calavera: N-no. Just a bit shaken up.

(Y/N): That's understandable. This is your first official fight. You did good though. Just sit back and let me handle this.

The man got up and brushed off (Y/N)'s attack.

???: I was expecting to meet you so soon. You weren't who I was trying to get the attention of but you're a close second.

(Y/N): And what does that mean?

???: Matters not. I'll be taking my leave.

"Yeah, right!"

In that moment, Jinta came crashing on the scene with his club, Ururu following behind.

???: I see you brought back up.

Jinta: Surrender yourself! We got you outnumbered!

(Y/N): Don't try anything funny.

(Y/N) flashed stepped behind the man with his scythe around his neck.

(Y/N): We felt your spiritual energy and on my way here, I got a call saying that someone was sent to the hospital. A cut that ran down his shoulder... Sounds familiar?

(Y/N) said as he looked at the sword in the stranger's hand.

???: Was he a friend of yours?

(Y/N): So it was you.

???: Who knows.

Just then the ground under (Y/N) sank abruptly, throwing him off balance. This gave the man the chance to escape (Y/N)'s grasp. (Y/N) caught himself and gave chase, catching up to him almost instantly. (Y/N) swung his scythe at the man but he reacted quick enough to block the attack. However the impact of the scythe sent him flying.

Ururu saw this as a chance to catch the man for good.

Ururu: Slaughter mode, activate.

Ururu's facial expression changed as her eyes changed to that of a killer. As the man flew across the sky, Ururu grabbed him out of the air and slammed him into the ground.



Ururu pulled her fist back to land a punch but right before she could land the punch, Jinta got sent flying, crashing into Ururu in the process.

(Y/N) looked around and saw another person showed up. He was a teenager just like him. He had a shaved head with a buzzed mohawk.

The man got up and then took one final look at (Y/N) before he grabbed onto the teen and disappeared from sight.

(Y/N) didn't dare pursue him in the chance that he tried to set them up.

Jinta got up and screamed in anger.

Jinta: WHAT THE HELL, I WAS GETTING READY TO DELIVER A CRAZY ATTACK TO HELP URURU BUT THAT GUY JUST SNUCK ME OUT OF NOWHERE! NEXT TIME I GET MY HANDS ON HIM I'LL-

(Y/N): Calm down Jinta. You'll see them again soon. I don't think this'll be the last time we see them.

Ururu brushed herself off as she turned off "Slaughter Mode".

Ururu: I'm sorry, we couldn't contribute much.

(Y/N): No, it's alright. Fighting in town is difficult enough as is. I held back a bit to not hurt anyone in the area or accidentally destroy any buildings.

(Y/N) turned to Calavera.

(Y/N): Where's (S/N)?

(S/N): She must've already made it to dad's office by now.

(Y/N): Speaking of... Where is dad?

???'s POV

Making their getaway, the two fullbringers found themselves hiding out in a construction site. The teenager spoke up.

Teen Fullbringer: Mr. Tsukishima, are you alright?

The man now known as Tsukishima, gave a nod.

Tsukishima: I'll be fine. However I suggest you head back to the hideout. I'll buy you some time.

Teen Fullbringer: W-what do you mean, Mr. Tsukishima.

Tsukishima: The person I wanted to meet is finally here.

As Tsukishima said that, (F/N) stepped out from the shadows.

Tsukishima: Long time no see, (F/N).

(F/N): That's my line, Shu. Now explain yourself. What the hell do you think you're doing, attacking my family?

Tsukishima: Not going to ask where your friend's been all these years?

(F/N): You lost the privilege of being my friend after that stunt you pulled.

Tsukishima: I jest, after all... You lost the privilege to call me a friend.

(F/N): Is this about me leaving the orphanage? Is that what this is about? You wanted me to stay behind at the orphanage and act like everything was okay? You knew just as well as I do that you would've taken the opportunity to leave that place if you had the chance. And I wouldn't have blamed you one bit.

Tsukishima: No... that's not what I'm upset with you about...

(F/N): What?

Tsukishima: Do you really not know why, or did you simply not care enough to think about why I'm upset with you.

(F/N): This is why we're having this stupid ass argument. Instead of vague words, why don't you just say why you're so upset.

Tsukishima: Why don't you think about it for a while.

Tsukishima took a step back and immediately the construction site started to crumble. (F/N) jumped back to avoid the steel beams and different construction tools and equipment from dropping on him. As the dust cloud started to clear, Tsukishima was now gone.

(F/N) just looked at the mess with an annoyed look on his face.

(F/N): Next time, I'm just going to shoot that idiot in the face. He's still a crybaby like he was back then.

(F/N) took out his phone and dialed a number.

(F/N): Hey Asuka, is (S/N) safe?

...

(F/N): Good.

...

(F/N): Yeah, I know exactly who did it... Don't mention anything at the office just yet...

...

(F/N): I'll be home in a few minutes, just stay there with (S/N) until I get there.

(F/N) hung up and walked home.

(F/N): If that idiot comes after them again, I'm killing him on the spot.

So a few things about Calavera's fighting abilities. She's nowhere near as good as other characters when it comes to swordsmenship. She hasn't had much chances to actually use them in real battles, only fighting hollows occasionally. That doesn't mean she's weak, jst inexperienced.

This is shown how she can still keep up with Tsukishima (even if he was holding back). It didn't help that she pretyt much hesitated in the beginning of the battle because of fear.

Now let's talk about the two elephants in the room. First of all, yes, her katana is a zanpakuto. Nemu, another artificial soul, does wield a zanpakuto. The difference is she never had a shikai nor bankai. Same case goes for Calavera. Now, we don't know if it's impossible for artifical and/or mod souls to have Shikais or Bankais since they're artifically created. But as of right now there's no info or confirmation from Kubo himself that they can. However just because they don't or can't doesn't mean they're weak. Nemu was extremely strong in TYBW despite not having either a shikai or bankai (not going to spoil anything btw don't worry). Basically, Calavera just has to lock in and she'll be fine lmao.

The other elephant in the room is the stuffed animal (aka Calavera Jr. as she is now called) being able to fight alongside Calavera herself. Obviously it was stated in "The Successful Proomise" that (Y/N) asked for the stuffed animal to be turned into a weapon and he asked for a way for Calavera to be able to control his body whenever he's not in it. So she has a technique that allows her to control things with spiritual energy by creating threads of spiritual energy that connect to the thing she wants to control. This is how she controls Calavera Jr.

Also Calavera Jr. is also the sheath for her Zanpakuto, which is why she took the zanpakuto out of Calavera Jr's body. I just thought it would be pretty funny to have a comically long katana come out a tiny stuffed animal.

Fun fact: the idea of Calavera fighting side by side with Calavera Jr. is just a huge reference to puppet characters in fighting games. The biggest inspiration being Enchantress from DNF Duel, who also fights with a stuffed animal.

To explain how Tsukishima was able to knock (Y/N) off balance. Tsukishima's fullbring, as everyone knows, can insert his presence in someone's past. A lot of people forget he could do the same with inanimate objects. He did so in his fight with Byakuya, making it so he inserted himself in the battlefield past. This past was made as if Tsukishima had set traps prior to the beginning of the fight.

I thought this was a interesting way to use that ability and I kinda wish we saw it more. Also using an ability like this would definitely mislead the cast into believing he had a completely different ability all together.
