Aira
I sat in front of the mirror, my heart fluttering with nervous anticipation. Mom carefully adjusted the intricate folds of my Lehnga, her hands trembling ever so slightly. Beside her, my brother Armaan boasted over the fact that I was wearing a red lehnga which looked prettied in comparison to the White one Neil wanted for me.
I thought the same, I wanted to wear Red too but Neil and his parents said that thay have this tradition that the Lehnga should be from their side and well Neil liked a White lehnga, his parents too so I didn't say anything.
There was just one dress I couldn't take my eyes off, the red lehnga I am wearing right now and No, I didn't say a word to Neil about it so I have no idea how he realized that and changed the order to the red Lehnga even though he really really liked the white one.
"You look absolutely stunning, Aira," Mom whispered, she looked like she was about to cry. "Vikram, doesn't she look like a princess?"
Dad's face was sparkling with pride and lobe for me, he nodded with a small smile. "She's the most beautiful bride I've ever seen."
"Just like her mother." He added dropping a kiss on her forehead and I and Armaan awed at them.
Armaan grinned mischievously. "You're going to take everyone's breath away." I couldn't help but chuckle at that.
Despite the nerves that twisted in my stomach, their reassuring presence filled me with a sense of calm. Today was supposed to be the happiest day of my life - the day I would marry Neil but something felt extremely amiss.
I don't know why but I felt weird like something was going to go extremely wrong.
It's might be just the overwhelming situation or just me overthinking it all or maybe just an instinct, but I have felt like I was being watched, like someone has been following me, keeping their eyes on my every movement.
I even felt someone's presence in my room yesterday night but when I opened my eyes there was no one. The window was opened. It was impossible for someone to enter my room in this home.
We have gaurds all over the place and the house is so big, my room is on the third floor. The window is so high that anyone attempting to climb up will directly climb to God.
There was a pendant around my neck - it's totally unique and something I have never seen before - a pheonix wrapped around a butterfly. Though, it's beautiful but I can't comprehend a positive meaning to it.
The pendant is exactly what caused all the distress and fear I felt in those two minutes because when I turned on the lights, Neil's handkerchief was lying beside my bed table and I realised it was just him. So it was just my overthinking.
I am getting married, 'To the love of my life' would be a little exaggerated but Neil is the best man you can ask for. He cares for me, makes sure I am alright and doesn't interferes very much with my personal decisions.
Our parents lifelong friendship led them to suggest our marriage, and seeing how close I and Neil had became over the time, they suggested to get us married and after Neil agreed, I found myself content with the arrangement.
Well the settling down was a bit sooner but I guess it was for the better because someday I will have to settle down so it's better if it's with someone I know and besides Neil is really a good person.
Someone knocked on the door and my brother answered it, letting my mom know that I was being called. My heart skipped a beat. It was time.
With one last deep breath, I rose from my seat. As I descended the staircase, Mom on one side and Dad on the other, Armaan followed close behind, a proud smile on his face.
The house was adorned with floral decorations. Although I wasn't liked very much by the people of this house except for my family but they were still indulging themselves in a act to uphold their reputations.
Neil stood at the beautifully decorated mandap, his eyes lighting up as he caught sight of me but something flickered in his eyes when they swept over me but he managed to give me a smile. I an definitely imagining things. He looked good in his traditional attire, a mix of adoration written across his face.
I walked towards him, although feeling extremely scared that something was just not right. I shook my head, that's not what I should focus on right now. This was it, the beginning of our journey together.
As I reached the Mandap Neil gave me his hand helping me up the Mandap. "What's wrong?" I asked sensing the question in hsi eyes.
He shook his head but I urged him to tell me as my eyes moved over to my in laws talking to my parents with a smile and the priest doing his last minutes preparation.
"Your dress Aira, we chose the white one. It's a tradition." Neil said squeezing my hands as my eyebrows rose in confusion, "Neil, this is the dress they delivered to me, I thought you," I paused myself and closed my eyes for a moment.
"I am so sorry, I really did not mean this. It's your tradition and," I blurted out trying to assure him it wasn't intentional when he smiled at me and cut me off squeezing my hands assuringly. "It's alright Aira. It was a mix up from thier side. And besides you look prettier in red." He whispered making me smile.
Our parents came forward and told the priest to start the ritual when he reminded us of the auspicious time.
Just when the priest began the sacred rituals, the joyous atmosphere shattered into chaos. The house was suddenly invaded by a group of armed men, their faces obscured by masks, their intentions clear from the menacing grip of their guns.
Panic rippled through the guests as they moved from here to there to go to safety.
Neil instinctively moved closer to me, shielding me from the intruders. Fear gripped my heart as I almost stumbled backwards, my eyes darting between the masked men and my bewildered family.
A man stepped inside, probably their leader with the way they all looked at him like they were waiting for his command, his voice cutting through the tension like a knife. "Everyone, stay calm and leave quietly," he commanded, his tone holding authority. "This wedding is over."
Almost every guest rushed to the exit, my and Neil's parents however stood around us with anxiousness over their faces.
My Dad didn't wasted a second in walking over to me and shielded me from the man, stopping me from having a proper look at hia face. "Who are you?"
The stranger's eyes swept over us before settling on Dad's father with chilling intensity. "Your father here knows exactly who I am, Mr. Agnihotri. And also why I am here."
Shock dawned on Dad's face, a mix of fear flickering in his eyes as he turned towards my grandfather. "Dad you said this was sorted." he murmured, his voice barely audible.
My eyes turned to my grandfather, everyone's did and if anything he did looked terrified. That was the first.
The stranger's lips curled into a cold smile. "It's time to settle our debts, Mr. Agnihotri. Starting with your grand-daughter."
My heart pounded in my chest as fear gripped me at the mention. It couldn't be me. I haven't been in India for like ever so who is he referring to. Granddaughter as in Jia or Naina or... me? God help!
However his eyes boring into my father's must have made that abundantly clear.
Dad and Mom exchanged a glance, a silent conversation passing between them that spoke volumes and gave me a near heart attack. Neil looked at me, confusion and concern etched on his features.
"What's happening, Aira?" he whispered, his voice filled with worry.
I shook my head at him not having any idea myself. I could make out his face but Dad was still blocking him to have a proper look.
My mom looked at my family and them Dad. "You all lied." My mom's words felt like an accusation and I wondered just what was happening.
Before I could bring myself to say something, he raised his gun, aiming directly at my Dad, no it's Neil.
My eyes widened as I staggered backwards pulling Neil with me. "Dad." I screamed his name pushing him away in case the psycho decided to check how good his aim it.
I looked up finally having a proper look at him, I realised just how lethal he looked right now. There was definitely no kindness in those cold eyes.
"Aira," Dad murmured attempting to move towards me when two of the scary looking men came and held Dad back.
I wondered where our security were and I think everyone was thinking the same but the horrific realisation dawned on us soon when he announced that no one was coming.
My eyes moved from Dad to him to my family and finally Neil. My voice caught in my throat, The world seemed to slow as he pulled the trigger. A deafening bang echoed through the hall as Neil staggered back from my arms, a look of fear and pain etched on his face. I screamed, the sound tearing from my throat as chaos erupted around me.
"No!" I cried, rushing towards Neil, as I crouched beside him. "Neil," I called his name assuring him he will be fine and he should keep his eyes open.
Everyone's face etched with horror as they all tried to love towards us but were held back by his men.
I frantically looked around myself. Neil's Mom crying as his Dad tried to hold her despite the gaurds surrounding them. "Ambulance! someone please call an ambulance." I cried out exasperated.
I looked towards my Dad, tears running down my cheeks as his lips quivered. He wanted to say something. My Dad can't see me sad and I knew this must be causing him so hurt because he knows Neil means alot to me even as a friend.
Dad looked at him and almost pleaded, "We need to take him to the hospital." He paused looking back at me and I helplessly nodded, "Please." I added looking back at Neil as another sob left my lips not knowing who was going to be the next one but right now he surely needed me.
He shot him in the arms so I know Neil will survive if he was taken to the hospital obviously although I honestly don't trust him not to shoot us next.
Neil tried to say something to me but before I could ask him what was he saying, strong arms seized me, pulling me as my back crashed in his chest. I struggled against my captor, tears streaming down my cheeks as I watched his men taking Neil away in horror.
Dad and Mom both attempted to come to me as well as Armaan but they were held back as his men raised guns at my family.
Fear and confusion swirled within me as I looked around me, my world shattering in pieces. The day that was meant to mark a new beginning had become a nightmare, one that seemed to have no end.
"Why are you doing this?" I whispered feeling the weight of the happenings on my shoulder as I almost fell down on the ground if not for his stong hold on me.
He ignored my question firing his gun again as a gut wrenching scream left my lips but this time he fired in the air.
He leaned dangerously closer to me. I could feel his breath fanning my neck as he whispered in clear words. "The next time I need to use my gun, the one lying there will be your father." He had pointed towards Neil, one of the his men was treating him and although I wanted to say he needed professional help I kept that to myself for everyone's good.
I struggled against his firm grip, my heart hammering against my heart.
He left me and as soon as he did I fell on ground, my family ran towards me and he and his men let them.
"Mumma Papa." I sobbed out, my voice breaking as I almost crawled to them and hugged them tightly like they will disappear if I let go even for a second.
"He will be fine." The stranger declared pointing at Neil as he looked over all of us, "Now you have two options." He turned to Neil's parents and gave his gun to one of his men.
"One - take your son and run to the hospital. Your little boy needs a doctor." He proposed as the mased men took Neil's Mom Dad to him and they instantly hugged their son crying in despair.
The stranger tapped his foot on the ground and clapped his hand to gain our attention, "Option Two - Wait here to witness the drama and well, let him suffer." He winced at his own words as Neil's parents looked at me and shook their heads.
"Aira, he needs to go to the hospital." They almost sounded sorry and I couldn't help but sob even more. There was nothing they should be sorry of. Uncle and Aunty always loved me as much as they loved Neil mostly why my parents had no problem with the marriage proposal.
Neil was sprawled on the ground, clutching his wounded arm, his eyes filled with pain and fear.
Aunty was crying as my mom squeezed my hand and I looked up at her to gain some strength. "Aunty, please take him to the hospital." They both looked at me with hope in their eyes and one of the men helped Neil stand up as they escorted them out but Neil protested.
"Mom, Aira... I," He stammered attempting to get away from their hold as I shook my head at him.
"Aira I am not leaving you." He screamed as the men tried to drag him out.
I felt so helpless at this moment that I wanted nothing more than to pull the same trigger at the Man who was doing all this and I didn't even know why.
I took a deep breath, "Neil, please go. You need to see a Doctor first. I promise I will come see you."
He wasn't ready to listen to me so I told Uncle and Aunty to just take him from there. Atleast they will be safe outside the house.
"Mumma Papa," I cried out as they held me close. The rest of the family was also sitting down on the floor, his men surrounding them with guns in their hand.
My grandfather was a powerful man and to be held like this, it was surely against his grace but today fear mirrored his eyes and my Uncle, the one I think thrice before going close to was included in a crowd threatened by the stranger while helplessly asking him to leave his family alone.
Their ego was hurt, but bowing their head isn't something that comes easily to the Agnihotris, probably why they didn't speak a work after realising I was the granddaughter involved in the mess. No one could care less except for my family.
"Bachha, I will not let anything happen to you. Haan?" Papa spoke caressing my head as Armaan tried to calm mumma down because she seemed to have an anxiety attack.
"Aap to Mera strong bachha ho naa? Aapko kuch nhi hoga. Hum Hai naa aapke saath?" Papa added, one of his hand holding Mom's and the other one mine as he brought it closer and Armaan moved his hand as well. I somehow managed to give him a nod and wiped my mom's tears.
Before I could say something to her, strong arms pulled me up again, Mom Dad and Armaan attempting to hold me but his Men were quick to hold them back.
He had his gun in his hand and I almost felt my heart leap out of my chest as he kept the gun on my face and caressed it down my cheek, my breathing ragged not really knowing when he will pull the trigger as he whispered out, "Enough of the family reunion Aira,"
He looked at the others, "Alright, now let's come to the point, No?"
My family looked at him awaiting his next words while I tried to get out of his firm grip.
"Your daughter and this marriage belongs to me now." He declared, his voice cold and unyielding almost making me forget how to breath.
Dad and Mom stood helplessly, the men holding them back, their faces etched with terror. "Please," Mom pleaded, her voice trembling. "Don't do this. She's just a girl."
The stranger's expression remained cold and unyielding as he ignored Mom's plea, his focus solely on me. "This is the price you all must pay," he declared, his voice cutting through the air. "And your daughter will pay it."
Tears blurred my vision as I stared at him, struggling to comprehend the nightmare that had befallen us or maybe me. "I don't understand," I whispered hoarsely, my voice wavering with fear and disbelief. "Why are you even doing this?"
I didn't even know him and once I looked into my parents eyes I was sure they didn't know him as well but the same can't be said about the rest of the family who had horror etched on their faces.
The stranger's eyes bore into mine, devoid of any trace of compassion. "Your family destroyed mine," he replied, his tone laced with bitter resentment. "Now they will watch as I ruin something they hold dear."
Dad's voice rang out, filled with sorrow and regret. "Please," he implored, his hands trembling. "Don't involve her in this. She is innocent."
His lips curled into a cruel smile. "Oh, but it's already too late for that," he retorted, gesturing towards his men. "If someone tried to act smart, pull the trigger."
My grandfather finally spoke his first words and even they turned out to be a nightmare to me, "You can have her, don't harm anyone else."
My Dad's eyes widened in disbelief and anger as he thrashed against the stranger's mens and he growled out at my grandfather. "Dad, How dare you?"
The stranger turned towards my grandfather, "As expected from you but don't worry you have no idea what I plan to do." There was a promise in his words as his eyes bore in my grandfathers.
"This will ruin you Mr. Vijay Agnihotri." He stated emotionlessly dragging me towards the Mandap.
"I will not marry you." I screamed, tried to punch him not that it did him any harm.
He jerked me away once we reached the mandap and I almost fell down as he stood in front of me, a towering figure of vengeance and cold determination. "You will marry me, Aira," he stated in a calm tone. "And your family will witness it."
I didn't even know what his vengeance is about and I was so not involved in it. I am not going to pay any price for a mistake I didn't commit.
Mom and Dad cried out in protest, their voices filled with anguish and desperation. "No, please," Mom sobbed, her hands clasped in silent prayer. "Don't do this. Spare our daughter."
"Aira di," Armaan screamed punching one of his men but the next second he was held back as two men punched him together and my brother staggered back.
I screamed in horror attempting to run to him but be held me back, his voice booming in the air, "Don't hurt him."
I fell down on my knees as I saw Armaan doing the same and he screamed, "Please, if you want revenge, do whatever you want to me instead." He paused looking up at me as I frantically shook my head at him.
"Please, spare my sister." He begged forwarding his hands I saw my parents getting on their knees as well.
"Mom Dad Armaan, please don't." I managed to let those words out. I can't see them begging for my life when they are the one who gave it to me.
"You can even kill me if you want." My eyes snapped to Armaan as soon as he spoke those words and I felt the stranger taking a step towards me but I was quick to stop him by holding his hand as I tugged him back.
"Don't," I whispered looking up as our eyes met and I felt like I was vanishing in the thin air and all that remained was his possession.
I looked at our hands and like a current was shot through me, I dropped his hand only for him to hold mine again and no matter how much I struggled he didn't let go.
He turned towards Armaan, inspecting his gun as he started. "That does sounds tempting,"
He tsked, "Par sauda to aaj bhi ijaat ka hi hoga." My eyes snapped up to his.
What is that suppose to mean?
His gaze fixed on me with a steely resolve. "I gave your family a chance to avoid this," he continued, his voice low and menacing. "But they chose to play with fire. Now I will target the one thing he actually loves - his fake materialistic reputation which is based on a lie."
My heart pounded in my chest as fear and despair threatened to overwhelm me. I glanced back at Armaan, his eyes locked with mine in silent anguish. "I don't know what this is about but I am sorry," I whispered tearfully.
"Please, this won't give you anything. Please, please don't do this." I begged trying to get my hand away from his.
He ignored me yet again, "Red suits you."
"What do you mean?" I asked confused. Is he giving me compliment while threatening to kill my family at the same time.
What a psychopath!
He tsked, gesturing something to his men as he moved closer to me, "Well, your useless fiance didn't really change the order and nor was there a mix-up."
His words not only surprised me but realisation hit me harder than the tragedy because it was not just me being delusional but I was actually being followed.
"You - you got this dress?" I stammered, expecting a answer different than what reality seemed to be.
His eyebrow raised as he gave me a look that stated I had disappointed him. "You are slow but it's alright. I didn't expect much from an Agnihotri either."
He gently tucked my hairs behind my ear, his touch callous as I jerked away his hands.
He gave me a small smile, that almost seemed like someone has came to take me to death, "I bet you don't know the pendant around your neck is a gift from your to be husband as well."
I stumbled backwards, slightly pushing him away as I somehow managed to let the word out, the fear seeping in to all the nerves thay somehow escaped his first blow. "You - you were the one in my room."
"Wow, you are really slow witted." He gave me an unimpressed look.
"But atleast you consider me your to be husband." He added giving me a sadistic smirk and I felt something twist inside me.
I raised my hands to slap him on instincts but he caught it midway and calmly added, "Umhmm, try to keep it there and your brother will be breathing just fine."
I used all my strength and pushed him away as I screamed in his face, "Let us go, leave my family alone. I won't marry you."
Taking his gun and turning to Armaan Armaan as two of his men held my brother down and he pointed the gun towards my brother, "She doesn't love you yaar, Ab aapki maut ka jimmedar mai thode hoon."
My heart almost leaped out of my chest as he moved his finger to the trigger but I was quick to lung forward, holding his hand in mine and using all my strength I moved it towards the air. My own finger touching his as we somehow pulled the trigger, a loud sound echoing in the air.
My eyes closed on their own accord, my hands falling down to myself, my legs shaking as I fell down but he was quick to hold me in his arms.
I didn't want to think what could have happened if he had actually shot my brother. I didn't doubt he would have if I hadn't interfered.
His hand came to my face lightly caressing it as I cried out, "Please, don't."
"Aap shadi karegi mujhse wo bhi aaj aur abhi issi mandap par." He was saying it like he was asking me for a pencil. Marriage is not a joke.
I shook my head frantically but he had more to say obviously, "Haan kariye Aira yaa aap chahti hai ki hum aapke ma papa ke khun se maang bhare aapki?"
My small fists hit his chest but obviously that didn't effect him much, "You are a psychopath, leave us alone." I screamed, cried, thrashed but it was no help.
"Shadi kriye mjhse Aira, I will spare everyone else." He worded it out holding my hands.
I was exhausted, I had little energy left and I was going to use it to survive and make sure my family lives.
"Mai shadi krungi aapse." I whispered, losing a piece of myself already.
Taking a deep breath, I looked straight in his eyes. "Mai iss shadi ke lie tayar hoon. Mere ma papa aur Armaan ko akela chor dijie."
Something passed his eyes but he was quick to mask his face again before I could decipher anything as he replied. "Ek baar shadi ho jae tumhe bhi chor doonga. Don't worry about that."
Hos words had a different meaning but I had no interest in figuring this monster out.
He sat beside me and Pandit ji started the rituals. All I could hear were the stifled sobs of my family. Dad and Mom stood helpless, their faces etched with grief as they watched their daughter being forced into a union that would forever kill her innocence and dreams.
I would never have done this if only there was another way to save my family from him.
Even though he is marrying me, I will never become his wife. All the rituals passed in a blur.
The priest asked for Gathbandhan and although I had no strength to speak I looked at my Mom and Dad. He attempted to tie it but I held his hand, "Shadi jabardasti ki Kar rhe ho, haq nhi hai tumhara koi."
The intensity of his eyes did terrify me but it's not like it was going to be over if I cowered back.
"Mumma Papa," They both seemed surprised but still somehow got up and moved towards the Mandap. My mom was crying hysterically as she mumbled out, "Bachha, don't do this. Don't ruin your life. He can kill us if that satiates his revenge."
I shook my head at her, I wasn't going to let them die on me.
"It won't." He spoke beside me and picking up my Chunri and the stall that was supposed to be Neil's, he gave it to my parents.
My Dad held his hand pleading and begging, "Please don't, chor do hamari bachhi ho."
"Whi irada hai." I had no idea what his words meant and I didn't intend to find out.
(That's the plan)
I jerked away his hand from my Dad's hold and held their hand in mine. "This is my decision Mom Dad. Please if this puts an end to it all, let me do it."
My mom hastily wiped away her tears holding my face in her hands. "Hum koi Raasta nikal lenge Aira."
I shook my head, handing her my chunri and the stall he had worn around his neck, "Ek rasta dia hai usne, meri kimat mere bhai ki jaan ki lagai hai isne Ma papa."
My mom sobbed and Dad hugged me tightly.
"Aap to jaante hai naa agar aap teeno ko kuch ho gaya to mere kadmo pe duniya ki saari Khushi bhi lakar rkhe koi fir bhi andar se mar jaungi mai." I whispered and they both shook their head at me.
"Tu hamare lie apni khushiyon ki qurbani de rhi hai." Tears streamed down my mom's cheeks as I wiped them away.
(You are sacrificing your happiness for us.)
"Baandh dijie ise, ma papa." I spoke without any emotion in my eyes and they did it as tears streamed down their faces.
(Tie the knot, Mom Dad.)
Armaan was still thrashing around, trying his best to be free and screaming at me to stop this nonsense but his life mattered more to me than myself.
When the priest announced that it was time for the feras, I couldn't find it in myself to stand up. I sat there staring in a void when I felt strong arms picking me up and although I wanted to slap him in the face for touching me, I was frozen.
I didn't even know his name and I was getting married to him. This is it, my end. I don't even know what future hold for me.
I don't realise when the feras are over and he makes me sit at my place taking the nuptial chain and tying it around my neck.
Next he took the vermillion with the coin but instead of applying it on me, he let the coin fall in the fire.
"Vivah sampan hua." He declared getting up from his place while I stayed rooted in my own. I could feel everything but I had no energy left to say a word.
"Beta sindur," The priest asked, he must be confused but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves me behind even after we are officially wedded.
I felt his hand hold my arm as he pulled me up, "Shadi hui hai hamari, Patni ho tum meri par na mere Ghar me na mere dil me koi jagah hai tumhari."
I couldn't breath anyways so what was the point of throwing a tantrum when the result was going to be all the same.
"Aapke ghr ki ijjat ko aapki chaukhat par chor rha hoon Mr. Vijay Agnihotri." He stated looking at my grandfather and only then did I realise what he was planning to do because my grandfather's face had lost all it's color.
"Sambhal skte hai to sambhal lijie." He added and I stepped away from him, Armaan running towards me as he held me in his arms.
"Tumne shadi ki hai usse," I heard my grandfather growl as he lunged forward but was held back.
The man, now my husband chuckled, "To kya saath lekar jaunga?" With that he took a little bit of vermillion in his hand and applied it in my forehead, but I was numb to react.
Beside that wasn't just a simple question, it was a taunt. And that irked my family alot. Not my mother and father though. In the past few minutes all the wrath they went thorough, it seemed to ease a bit knowing the fact that he wasn't going to take me with him.
I wasn't going to anyways, but if he could force me in a marriage, he can surely kidnap me.
"Wo bhi aapke ghar ki ijjat ko? Aaj ke baad khi dhoodenge to Bazar me mil jaegi." He added further, taking off that stall which was tied with my Lehnga and ye threw it down - I had no intention to pick it and go all Sati Savitri mode because I had saved my family and that was my only intention.
If he was degrading me, he should know he is way below me but I feel no compulsion to pride my honor in front of him because he simply means nothing to me.
He turned towards me, my grandfather yelling out his heart for him to take me along but he paid him no heed.
"Tumne mere naam ka mangalsutra phna hai, mere naam ka sindur lgaya hai par tumhe Mera naam kbhi nhi mileage." His words were clear but I already knew that.
I looked in his eyes and firmly said, "Jao yaha se."
The sudden surprise on his face was the most satisfying thing ever. What did he expect? Me to cry and beg him to take me along?
"What?" He questioned not quite sure he heard me right, but his face was back to being the cold stoic one.
I took a depends breath and taking a step towards him repeated once more. "Agar tumhara badla poora ho gya hai to jao yha se."
It irked him, my lack of emotions irked him but I didn't care although his step forward made me almost flinch, he didn't say a word to me.
"Ise saath lekar jao," my grandfather screamed taking all his attention.
My father turned to his father, throwing him a glare and this was the first time I saw him going against him. "Aira khi nhi jaegi."
He looked at my father giving a childish, annoying and arrogant smirk as he agreed, "Maine bhi to yhi kha."
My grandfather was losing it and we could all see it. I understand him though, he was right. Everyone will get a chance to point fingers at us.
"Kaise nhi jaegi? Shadi hui hai usse. Hamari ijjat ka socha hai?" He questioned my father agitated but my father had no intention of backing out today.
The next few moment I have no idea what was happening, my parents were trying with their family trying to take a stand for me.
My grandfather wanted him to take me along. Ofcourse he did, shadi ke mandap par shadi hone ke baad agar kisi ko uska pati chor kr chla jae to use kya khte hai?
The reputation that mattered to him more than his family will be torned to pieces. I am going to be labelled a disgrace.
He had married me forcefully and now he was abandoning me like I was a ragged doll meant for him to break in pieces.
His eyes, they told a different story but there was satisfaction written all over his face witnessing the despair on my grandfather's face as he walked out followed by his men. My family left to discuss what to do with me while My Dad and Mom argued that it was better he didn't take me along. My life would have been a hell.
Something hit me and I ran outside behind the man who just became my husband.
It was dark outside, 4 in the morning so that's what the sky was supposed to be like. Black - like his heart and soul.
"Aap hai kon?" I screamed just when he was about to get in his car. He paused his moments, tilting his head slightly and two words fell from his lips, "Your nightmare."
With that he got in his car and all drove off.
"The world knows him as Arsh Oberoi." One of the scary looking man spoke up glancing at me with pity and then got in another car following him and the others.
When I turned around, none of our Gaurds were there. He must be behind that as well. I had already figured that out when no one came, not even police for help even though Neil had given them a call.
It started raining as fresh tears emerged from my eyes and I fell down sitting there while I tried to rub off the vermillion from my forehead.
I have no idea when my mom Dad and Armaan came out of the house and joined me on the garden letting the rain wash their tears away as they tried to console me and somehow lessen my ache.
