No wonder they taught him to close his heart off, no wonder they told him to bury any kind of feelings and attachments deep in his heart. From the moment Halil Ibrahim chose to be in charge of KaraDeniz; his birth town, he knew the road wouldn't be easy but it won't be impossible either. He only dreamt of a form of love, a form of love which he held deep in his heart. However, years later, this very love he dreamt of slowly turned to reality. For the first time he had dreams of the future, thoughts about the future. Maybe it wasn't that far of a future or maybe not an unrealistic one but at least a small cozy house, a dog and two girls that had their mom's hair and eyes, dreams of surrounding himself with a face that kept him a float for years.
Nevertheless, life always had a way of bringing him back to reality, a reality where he finds himself in a cold dark room. His heart turning to stone after he loses all his warmth. A reality where the only way he can finally relax is by embracing the darkness and bringing out his true self. Which always reflect as a vengeful and heartless being in his beloved's eyes. Zeynep even mentioned it several times to his face and every time he hears those words from her, his heart breaks a little. He gets on his car driving back to the hospital, maybe he could find a clue from the man with the false alarm from before. He recalls to have left him with the nurses at the hospital, hopefully the man were still there and he could ask him a few questions.
Moreover, regarding the situation, this man had better talk as Halil Ibrahim was surely going to him with a firm resolute. He ought to bring out his inner soldier and interrogate the man in search for answers. If the man as much as willingly gives him a location, he wouldn't resort to torture. He just wished the man would give him something to work on.
Finally he arrives at the hospital, he quickly rushes inside the hospital and asks for the man at the nurses' station. The nurses inform him that the man had just left the hospital, he denied treatment so they had no choice but to let him go. He asked if they maybe got his name or address unfortunately they didn't. It's as if he was back to square one, he walks out of the hospital and hops into his car. He drives out holding onto hope that he might find the man on the way. Fortunately, he notices as he walks into a car just outside the hospital grounds. He tails him closely as he might head to his hideout or even lead him to where Zeynep is being kept.
The car drives a long way to the outskirts of town, then finally makes a turn near an abandoned warehouse. It parks right at the entrance and two middle-aged men walk out, then they enter the warehouse. Halil Ibrahim looks glad that he followed the man back here, finally he was onto something. At last there was hope for finding a clue to Zeynep's location or more so, the identity of the man behind the phone. He parks his car just a few steps away from sight, thankfully the men from the car notice nothing from him tailing them to knowing their location. He grabs his gun then gets off the car, then quietly camouflages with the lengthy grass and find his way to the entrance. At the entrance he checks inside and he can count not less than ten men. The two men from the car were standing in front of other two men who sat at the very middle drinking tea. These two men sitting looked like they had authority since the others talked to them while humbling themselves. One man started patting the guy from the hospital on the neck as they both started letting out loud laughs that echoed through the whole warehouse.
Halil Ibrahim with light steps ran inside unnoticed. The other men were working stacking sacks, they looked somehow young; maybe boys in their early twenties. Halil walks slowly to the first man, he notices him but Halil acts quickly and goes for his neck. He drives the young man unconscious with a neck lock then slowly moves him away from sight. If he were to level the situation without using guns or one of them escaping to alert the boss, it'd be better. Therefore, he had to act quick and smart. He heads straight for the second guy, this guy didn't even see him coming. Either way, he walks behind him then elbows his neck. The man was left breathless, he turns around seeing his attacker but unable to scream for help or even even help himself. Halil finishes him off with a punch on the face.
Halil took cover near a stack of sacks after noticing one more guy coming his way. He stares at him while he lays the sack in place then walk away. He walks towards him, unfortunately this guy notices and as he tries to scream for help, Halil jumps his head putting him in a deadlock. the man fidgets in despair but Halil's lock is firm to free himself from. Finally the man fainted, he pulled his body away but sadly the next guy notices him. He lets out a shout and alerts the remaining seven guys. They all took cover and out of nowhere, bring out their guns. They start shooting towards Halil Ibrahim's direction. Mission definitely had took a turn of events and with that Halil had to change plans as well, so he took out his gun and the shootout started.
Thankfully, Halil Ibrahim was the best marksman in his era. He missed one shot out of the twenty he shoots, these armatures stood no chance on him. He started dropping them one by one, even though they outnumbered him earlier. However, Halil Ibrahim didn't shoot to kill, he just gave them serious injuries so they could stay down while he heads to the head of the pack. The last guy didn't look too confident with a gun, he kept shouting out threats and recklessly using up his bullets. After he took his last shot, Halil showed up in front of his face with a gun pointed at his head. The man tried pulling the trigger but his bullets were all used up. Seeing that he had no choice, he put his hands up surrendering to Halil Ibrahim. He kept crying for help pleading Halil not to finish him off. He even promised to complete any of Halil Ibrahim's wishes provided he let him keep his life.
Coincidentally though, Halil Ibrahim had no intention to kill him. Why on earth would he shoot him when he was the only lead to Zeynep? As a result, he agreed to the man's plea under one condition.
"I'll let you keep your life on one condition..." Halil Ibrahim explains.
"What is it? I'll do anything, just spare me..." The man pleads.
"I want you to call your boss and tell him, Halil Ibrahim got to the guy you sent to the hospital. Unfortunately, he couldn't keep his mouth shut so he found out about the warehouse." Halil Ibrahim commanded.
"Boss would never believe that... he'll know something is wrong."The man warns.
"Just call..." Halil Ibrahim insists while pushing his gun on his head. The man trembles as he takes out his phone, he finds a number among his contacts then presses call. Halil instructs him to put it on loud speaker, Halil warns him of any acts he had in mind and asked him to pull himself together and not sound all scared as if someone were holding him at gunpoint.
"Mustafa, what is it?" A man asks.
" Boss, Halil Ibrahim found out about our place, I heard he's coming here, how should I handle it?" Mustafa replies.
"How did he find you?" He asks once again.
"The guy we sent over to play suicide bomber, he couldn't keep his mouth shut. Halil asked him through a few bullets and he ratted us out. As you know, we recently received a shipment. Leaving here won't be easy, how do I handle it boss?" Mustafa explains, Halil Ibrahim presses the gun a little more on his head as a warning not to speak further. Mustafa stops then stares at Halil for a second, a slight silence commenced while they wait for the person on the phone to answer.
"Just leave everything and come back here..." The man replied, "Leave the guys behind so they can put up a fight and distract Halil Ibrahim while we find another alternative."
After the phone call, Halil let Mustafa lead the way to where he was told to go. Halil was finally moments away to meeting Zeynep, it took him almost a day to get to her. And as the night grew deeper, his concerns also deepened. The danger that larks around Zeynep is real, if he as much as fails to protect her then divorce would be the least he'll face. Zeynep is of course his weakness, Halil's enemies will always think of using her to break his wings. As much as he didn't want to admit it, this has been a true fact in a long time now. Everytime Zeynep got in trouble, Halil couldn't think straight, he acted out of character.
However, as much as Zeynep is his weakness, she's his strength as well. Zeynep is the reason he held onto life as strongly as he did. He came out unscathed from the dozens of deadly missions he was sent to, he walked into and out of fires unburnt not counting the several bullets that left scars that can't be erased. Because of Zeynep, he has a love that's envied by many, a love that he can rely on after a life threatening ordeal. What he sees in Zeynep's presence is a hope that after a day full of action home awaits. Might have been short-lived but he lived several nights with no fear of day or loss. Even at this moment when they have mountains separating them, the thought of each other alive is hope of their limitless love.
The moon was especially bright that night, Halil drove down the road without saying a word, he only listened to Mustafa's directions. Finally they came close to the place, as they got closer, they could see it. Moonlight shone on the house and it illuminated a beautiful glow in it's surrounding. Several lights were on inside and could be seen thought the windows. There was a long driveway to the house from the gate, several men stood guard while some walked back and forth alternating position in unison. Halil stopped the car some distance away then ordered Mustafa to take the wheel. Fortunately he didn't take his car or else they wouldn't be able to enter. They quickly switched seats and Halil went for the back seat to avoid getting noticed at the entrance.
Mustafa successfully brought them into the premises, Halil Ibrahim let him pack the car at a hidden place then hit him hard with his gun on the head. Mustafa falls unconscious onto the starring wheel, finally Halil could get out of the car despite the heavily guarded house. He climbs a wall to the first floor balcony, the light in that room was on. He slowly got closer and peeked inside, unfortunately it wasn't the room which Zeynep was being held. Inside were three armed men, they were fast asleep and had left the TV on. Halil slowly enters the room and with light steps, gets closer and grabs one pillow from the couch. Skillfully, he put the pillow on their faces as he shoots each one of them on the head. No sound comes out from that room and no one notices anything odd happening. He heads for the lights then turns them off and exits the room through the door this time.
At the hallway, he counts three more doors closed. Out of the three doors, two had lights on and among the two, one room had men laughing and shouting while the other was extremely quiet. Halil tiptoes to the quiet room and the moment he opens the door, he sees Zeynep asleep on a bed. Her hands had been tied up and bound to the bed. Halil Ibrahim carefully looks around the room checking if there are any men inside as well. He only enters after he confirms that Zeynep is alone. His feet tremble slightly as he moves towards his completely helpless wife, she had dark circles under her eyes which looked all swollen. Halil slowly unbinds the tapes from Zeynep's hands, his heart hurt when he sees the bind marks the tapes left on Zeynep's hands.
"Zeynep..." Halil Ibrahim whispers. He called her name several times as he caressed her face with his hands. Zeynep faintly hears his voice, she is extremely drowsy and despite her putting an effort to fully open her eyes they remain half open. She raises her hand with great difficulty, tears stream down her cheeks as she places her hand on Halil's cheek. She starts faintly sobbing, a sign of relief, a sign of her being glad that her husband came to rescue her. She knew he would definitely come and even though she kept staying strong while the man drilled holes in her hand with several injections, at that moment, she let out all the pain she had suffered for all those days.
Halil Ibrahim raised her from the bed and gave her a tight hug, the pain was mutual for the both of them. Zeynep had gone through an ordeal and Halil Ibrahim seeing his beloved in that state, made him feel no lesser pain as her. He also had the guilty conscious, if only Zeynep wasn't associated with him, she wouldn't have went through all that. She had signed her death sentence the moment she put her signature on the marriage registrar book, therefore since then, they've been leaving with a leg in their graves.
Still, it's extremely forbidden to touch Halil Ibrahim's beloved ones, but yet this man dared to. He even had the audacity to bring Zeynep into such a state not fearing the consequences. He wasn't to be underestimated. Obviously this man wasn't a simple man, he was definitely fearless and powerful.
