Standing at the airport, exhaustion weighing me down, I couldn't help but realize just how much she meant to me. The thought hit me like a wave, and I felt a deep sense of love and longing. I made my way out of the airport, determined to keep my arrival a secret. I wanted to surprise everyone, especially her. Just imagining the joy on her face when she would see me filled my heart with excitement.
I hopped into a cab and headed home, my heart racing with anticipation.
When I arrived, I was greeted by chaos. The house was in utter disarray, and it took me a moment to understand why. My hoor was frantically removing shahmeer's head, who had somehow gotten itself stuck in the laundry basket. I stood there, utterly bemused, unsure whether to laugh or help them. The scene was hilarious, but it didn't matter-I was home, and soon, the real surprise would take over.
"Khud bhi toh koshish karo, bhai!" I heard my Hoor shouting at Shahmeer as she tried to yank the basket.
"Karraha hoon!" came his muffled response, and I couldn't help but chuckle at the scene unfolding before me.
Just as Hoor was about to pull the basket again, her eyes locked onto mine. Her expression shifted instantly, and she screamed at the top of her lungs, "Ahhhhhh!"
The sudden sound made me flinch, caught completely off guard.
"What happened? You okay?" I heard Shahmeer's concerned voice, muffled from beneath the basket.
Without a second thought, Hoor ran toward me, and a beautiful, radiant smile appeared on her face. Instinctively, I opened my arms, and she immediately wrapped herself around me. My heart swelled in that moment, completely full and at peace.
But then I heard Shahmeer's voice, yelling for help. Reluctantly, I pulled away from Hoor and went to rescue him, his head still stuck in the basket. I gently removed it, and he took in a deep breath as if he had just escaped some kind of near-death experience.
"I thought I was going to die!" he began, gasping for air. "Aina, how could you leave me like that? Do you even know how suffocating it was? What if-"
But his rambling was cut short when he caught sight of me standing there. Without thinking, he jumped at me, wrapping his legs around my waist and hanging on like a koala.
"Are you serious?" I laughed, barely able to catch my breath.
Shahmeer grinned, clearly enjoying the moment, but I could only shake my head in amusement. Somehow, this was all exactly what I needed-chaos, laughter, and a sense of belonging that made everything feel right again.
After a while, everyone gathered in the hall, and I greeted them all with warmth and love. The atmosphere felt so familiar and comforting. Now, I was in my room when she walked in, her presence instantly filling the space with light.
She sat on the bed, her eyes sparkling with curiosity, and then she began, "So, how was Paris? How's university? And why are you here? Didn't you tell me you had exams?"
Her questions came at me like rapid-fire, and I couldn't help but smile. I had missed this-the way she always seemed to bombard me with her endless curiosity, making me feel like the most important person in the world.
"Everything's good, Hoor," I replied, my heart full. "I actually finished my exams yesterday, so I thought I'd come here to celebrate your birthday with you. And also... it's your seventeenth birthday."
Her face lit up with the most beautiful smile, one that could stop time, one that made the world seem right.
That smile-it was everything.
Iski muskurahat meri zindagi ka sabse khubsurat hissa hai, wo hissa jisko mein kabhi apne aap se alag nahi kar sakta, aur na hi karunga.
(Her smile was the most beautiful part of my life, the part of me that I could never separate, and I never would)
"Okay, you must be tired. You should get some sleep," she said with a soft smile. She stood up from the bed, gave me one last look, and walked out of the room. I lay back on my bed, my mind racing with excitement. Tomorrow is her birthday, and I already know the perfect gift I will give her.
The sounds of laughter and chatter from downstairs woke me up, and I instantly knew who it was. I quickly made my way to the bathroom, handled my business, and then headed downstairs to see what was going on. Sure enough, there they were.
"Shahmeer bhai, Elaina will wear this dress, and nothing else!" Sharanvi said, her voice tinged with frustration.
"Hogaya? Aina will wear this dress," Shahmeer replied, holding up a different dress with an air of finality.
Just as Sharanvi was about to retort, she noticed me and immediately ran over to me, her feet pattering as she approached.
"Aviyaan bhai!" she cried, her chin wobbled. Without thinking, I pulled her into a hug, She was always like this whenever something would happened she would come to me running,
I walked her over to where the two of them were standing. As I did, I shot a playful glare at Shahmeer, who quickly gulped before muttering, "She's so bad"
"I have got a dress for Hoor, and she will wear that one," I announced confidently.
Both of them gasped, clearly taken aback, but I simply ignored their reactions and made my way over to the dining table.
Breakfast was filled with laughter, teasing, and inside jokes. It was moments like these that I knew I would miss the most. Tomorrow, I'm leaving for my flight-back to where I came from, back to reality. The thought of it made my heart heavy. Four years. Just four years, Aviyaan. You'll be back before you know it.
I finished my breakfast, and soon after, we all gathered together and chatted. As the time for her birthday drew near, we quickly retreated to our rooms to get ready.
I got dressed in no time-slipping into a crisp white shirt paired with light sky-blue pants. I then picked up a matching sky-blue bowtie and expertly tied it around my neck. Next, I styled my hair with precision and slipped on my watch, checking the time. I sprayed on a little cologne, put on my shoes, and made my way out of the room,
I stood in the hall, eagerly waiting for my Hoor. The seconds stretched on, and I couldn't help but feel like I was standing there for an eternity. Finally, the door to her room creaked open, and I took a deep breath, my heart racing.
There she was-stepping into the hallway in all her glory, her presence lighting up the room. She wore a breathtaking sky-blue maxi dress, and I couldn't help but marvel at how effortlessly she made it look stunning. It wasn't just the dress that was beautiful; it was her that made everything come to life. She had a way of transforming anything she wore into something special, almost as if the dress and jewelry were honored just by being worn by her. Lucky them.
I was completely awestruck by her. As she walked toward us, everyone around her showered her with compliments, and she smiled at each of them, her eyes sparkling with gratitude. I couldn't take my eyes off her. After a moment, we all made our way to the venue.
When we arrived, I found myself unable to stop staring at her-her innocent face, her soft smile. A sudden, overwhelming urge to protect her swept over me, a desire to shield her purity from the harshness of the world. It was a feeling I couldn't shake.
As the cake-cutting ceremony took place, everyone lined up to give her their gifts. I stood back, waiting patiently for the moment when I could finally present mine. I couldn't just hand it to her casually-this gift meant so much more. It had a depth to it, a significance I wanted her to understand my feelings for her,
As soon as I noticed she was free from everyone, I made my way toward her. Gently, I whispered for her to come with me. Confusion flashed across her face, but she followed me to the room. Without warning, I dropped to one knee, and a gasp escaped her lips.
"What are you doing?" she asked, taking a few cautious steps back. I looked up at her asking hor her consent, understanding me she nodded and i smiled
I reached out, gently holding her ankle and placing it on my thigh. She tried to pull it back, but my grip was firm. Carefully, I slipped the anklet I had custom-made just for her onto her delicate ankle.
She stared at the anklet, stunned, and I couldn't resist-leaning forward, I kissed the anklet, admiring her beautiful ankle. Then, with a soft smile, I made her wear the second anklet as well. After kissing her other ankle with the same reverence, I gently placed her foot back down and remained kneeling before her, my heart racing.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out a small box. She watched me with such intensity, her eyes wide with curiosity.
I opened the box slowly, and I could see her eyes light up, sparkling with excitement.
Taking the ring out of the box, I looked up at her, my voice steady but filled with emotion. "This is a promise ring, Hoor. I promise to always be by your side. I promise to never let you go unless you want to leave. This ring symbolizes my unwavering commitment to you, I am yours from the day you came into this world."
I completed and her eyes were glistening with tears by now and i could not help but to stand up and wipe her tears, she hold out her hand to me and i made her wear the ring, and smile spread on Both of our faces,
